I have learned over the course of this commission just how much FFXIV really loves layering their outfit designs. And small details. And metal.

The name and mini-bio are written in the Eorzean alphabet, which of course the internet delivered in providing us a font. You know, in case you want The Ultimate Immersion as you play FFXIV on your PC. Or for roleplaying purposes. Or both. Both is good.

The WAVES of Change: Women's Valiant Service in World War II 🌊

Welcome to the official Tumblr for ArchiveCon 2024. We are proud to be hosting our THIRD (!!) ArchiveCon - a fan-lead, fan-run online mini convention for 18+ fans of the Rusty Quill horror podcast, The Magnus Archives (and now Protocol!)

Whether you are an old fan, a new fan, a deeply-rooted fandom denizen, or looking to make your first connections in our fan community, we hope you’ll join us. ArchiveCon may be online-only, but we’ve got all the energy and features of a traditional offline convention - everything from panels and special guests (voice actors, writers, and industry professionals!), to cosplay and games, streaming and discussion, and even an Artist’s Alley.  

Here’s the quick rundown:

- June 21-23, 2023 (that’s three days, folks - Friday to Sunday!)

- 18+, online only (Most areas of the con will be SFW, but you still must be 18+ to attend)

- FREE TO ATTEND! (Registration is required and must be done so before the convention starts; you can register here!)

- All events scheduled in PST, but all international fans are welcome and most panels (at the discretion of individual panelists) will be recorded for post-convention, on-demand viewing.  

- Primarily focused on The Magnus Archives/Protocol, but fans of all things horror, podcasting, and transformative works will find something to love. The Plain Old Curious are always welcome, too - we have to feed The Eye somehow, right? ;)

accomplishments.

april, at least here in canada, is always a busy month for university students. so, as you probably can expect, i didn’t write that much. i think i had a good week or so where i didn’t even touch my word doc, simply because i just, couldn’t afford to think about it. genuinely. i won’t bore you with the details or the plenty of excuses i could use to justify the lack of communication on here. all i know is that now that school is over, i can actually write some words. 

wonderful.

since the last update, i’ve finished A’s and N’s branch, as well as filled in whatever blank scenes i left (because i’m lazy like that). as i stated on patreon, this branch is less angsty and much more of a breather than the other two. i focused mainly on N and their character for this route, seeing as A has already had plenty of opportunity to showcase their arc by being the hunter’s default partner. it’s sweet in some ways, a little painful in others, if you know anything about N’s backstory from the little snippets i’ve given out, but overall, a much smoother ride. i think all three routes provide a decent amount of variety and i’m excited to see reactions.

with that branch done, i’m moving onto the final scene of the chapter. i have it laid out in my head and, with a couple of reminders from feedback i’ve been given, i know it’ll be a ton of fun. it’s been a while since i’ve done this type of scene, so it’ll be a good refresher and throwback to earlier chapters. i’m hoping to get this done as soon as possible, but no promises on a release date yet. i know, i know it’s been ages, but i’d rather go slow than rush to put out a project i’m not happy with.

on another note, i was recently thinking about commissions as a side summer project. i’m not sure if anyone would be interested, but it’s an idea i’m putting out there. much love <3

The goods will be distributed digitally only. Printing is only allowed for personal use and you cannot resell the commission under any circumstances or claim to be the original author of the artpiece.

Unless it has been agreed otherwise, I’m able to choose to display the commissioned art on my galleries and portfolio to promote my work.

I do not allow my art to be used for NFTs, training AIs or crypto transactions.

Things I can draw… Characters from shows/anime, video games and manga/comics I’m familiar with (examples: Sonic The Hedgehog, Homestuck, Pokémon, NiGHTS, Skullgirls, Splatoon, Hades (by Supergiant games), The Legend of Zelda, YuGiOh!, Promare, Undertale/Deltarune, The Owl House, Trigun, Dr. Stone); characters from a series I’m not familiar with if given proper references; crossovers, fantasy, scifi, animals, fanfic illustrations, OCs (if given proper references), and possibly more. Feel free to ask! Things I will not draw… Gore, vore, rape, abuse, offensive themes (racism, transphobia, homophobia, etc.), RPF (real person fanfiction) or shipping real people, I reserve the right to refuse any request.

Upcharges

My limit of characters to draw in one picture/comic is 1, you will be charged for every additional character in the drawing. For an illustration, the price will be multiplied by the number of total characters. The backgrounds will remain one charge. For a comic, every additional complex character is $30 for a pencil page, $40 for an inked page, and $50 for a coloured page.

If your character has a complex design (Examples: detailed armor, complex clothing or jewelry, additional features…) a charge of $15 will apply.

Excessive changes will be charged. On your third and every subsequent major modification request, you will be charged $20.

My limit for short comics is 1 page. If you want more, it will be multiplied by the number of pages and type of commission (ex. a 2 page pencil comic is $100 x 2 = $200).

HOW TO PAY: You will receive an invoice from my Paypal email once the commission has been agreed upon. I will not start working on the commission until the invoice is paid. No refunds. Payment in euros is preferable, if possible. Otherwise USD is always accepted.

ATTENTION: ART THIEF AND SCAMMER

I know that I have reblogged some posts about this person, hoelys-blog, already but I think I should try to condense the info down to one post and provide some updates (updated information will be colored like this, or featured towards the bottom of the post.)

This person, who has identified himself as Lino to someone who measaged me (who was scammed by him), reaches out to you via DM to promote that they have commissions going on. Showcasing art that they have stolen and altered from other people. As far as I know, only one artist was able to get majority of their work taken off of this guy's "commission post(s)". I have reblogged some posts about that artists experience, you can see all the posts I mention if you search the #hoelys-blog tag on my blog or by clicking on any posts tagged as that.

Any effort to call out this scammer on his posts are made in vain- he deletes any reply or reblogged comment so that folks visiting his page cannot see any attempt at warning on his posts- UNLESS YOU CHECK THE REBLOG AREA AND VIEW THE TAGS.

He saw my attempts to warn people, deleted my replies/comments on his posts and I woke up to see that he changed his blog name.

A former name for one of these current blogs is decaffeinatedharmonypaper

All of his blogs feature stolen and altered artwork, and most are advertising that their commissions are open. If any of you know any of the stolen pieces' original artists, please let that artist know so that they can file the proper reports.

What we can do in the meantime is report each post that has stolen artwork promoting that he has commissions open. This goes for anyone that you see that does this- you report them for phishing. What I did was also provide a link to a post that showcases the the source of each stolen piece of work within that post. Tumblr support will reach out and ask you to provide links to the report you make!

Speaking of, you can access that particular post via the #hoelys-blog tag, look for a post made by @tamiisnthere!

This person also seems to make their rounds in different fandoms based off of tags that I've read- so it is not just One Piece or DBZ.

This person is known to be manipulative in the DMs, and get you to take pitty on them. They also will straight up beg. So I emphasize DO NOT ANSWER BACK WHEN HE DMS YOU. Just report commission posts as phishing before you block him and delete the convo. If you do talk with him, screenshot/keep your messages so that you have proof.

If you have been scammed by this man, please report the account(s) he used so that you can get your money back. He uses multiple PayPal accounts, someone that was scammed by him has given me each email that they are aware of. (I am debating if I post them or not...)

I highly encourage people speak of their experience with this person in the comments or in reblogs of this post. That way we can see how deep this rabbit hole goes.

By all means, do NOT harass this person. Please only report and block him!

I believe that this information should be known to people who have been scammed or whose work has been stolen first. If anyone has been scammed by this man, or work has been stolen and need certain information to file reports, please message me.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla will undertake a State Visit to Kenya

The visit will take place from Tuesday 31st October to Friday 3rd November 2023, and will celebrate the warm relationship between the two countries and the strong and dynamic partnership they continue to forge.

The visit is at the invitation of President Ruto and comes as Kenya prepares to celebrate 60 years of independence. His Majesty’s first visit to a Commonwealth nation as King is therefore to the country in which Queen Elizabeth II’s reign began, having acceded to the throne in Kenya in February 1952.

The King and Queen will visit Nairobi City County, Mombasa County and surrounding areas. Their Majesties’ programme will reflect the ways in which Kenya and the United Kingdom are working together, notably to boost mutual prosperity, tackle climate change, promote youth opportunity and employment, advance sustainable development and create a more stable and secure region.

During the visit, Their Majesties will meet President Ruto and the First Lady as well as and other members of the Kenyan Government, UN staff, CEOs, faith leaders, young people, future leaders and Kenyan Marines training with UK Royal Marines. The King will also attend an event to celebrate the life and work of the Nobel Laureate the late Professor Wangari Maathai, together with Wangari’s daughter, Wanjira Mathai.

The King and Queen’s programme will celebrate the close links between the British and Kenyan people in areas such as the creative arts, technology, enterprise, education and innovation. The visit will also acknowledge the more painful aspects of the UK and Kenya’s shared history, including the Emergency (1952-1960). His Majesty will take time during the visit to deepen his understanding of the wrongs suffered in this period by the people of Kenya. Together, Their Majesties will tour a new museum dedicated to Kenya’s history and will lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior at Uhuru Gardens, as well as visiting the site of the declaration of Kenya’s independence in 1963.

His Majesty will host a reception focussed on Kenya’s young people and future leaders across development, trade, media, the creative arts and environmental conservation.

Their Majesties will visit a Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetery, joining British and Kenyan military personnel in an act of Remembrance, before hearing about the Commission’s recent work to ensure all those who supported Britain’s efforts in both World Wars are commemorated.

The King and Queen will visit Nairobi National Park to witness the vital conservation work being undertaken by the Kenya Wildlife Service, which is integral to Kenya’s thriving tourism industry.

Her Majesty, Patron of the equine welfare charity Brooke, will hear how the charity is working with the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care of Animals to rescue donkeys at risk and promote their welfare.

The King, as Captain General of the Royal Marines, and The Queen, will visit Mtongwe Naval Base in Mombasa. There, Their Majesties will witness Kenyan Marines, trained by the Royal Marines, demonstrating a covert beach landing, showing defence collaboration in action.

The Queen will meet survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, learning how they are supported and sharing her own insights from working in this area.

The King will meet faith leaders from Mombasa’s diverse community, hearing how they are working together to promote harmony amongst the city’s population.

I made an appreciation post for my own OC Cross (cringe, who, me? yes) cause I thought it would've been kind of neat to showcase his progression over the years.

Minor info dump (without any spoilers):

Cross is a ghoul, bounty hunter by trade and mercenary by name. If there's a good enough price, he'll take the job with few questions asked. An insatiable womanizer with a skewed moral compass, he's known as The Eastern Cowboy and The Devil's Dealer (and to a few ghoul ladies at a certain New Vegas brothel, 'The Lusty Lady Licker') and is one hell of a shot with his signature .44 magnum. He's also a drunk, heavy smoker, and has a knack for telling the worst jokes you've probably ever heard.

December 2020- The fic that started it all...one I have come to rewrite in its entirety and is now the first installment of my Middle of the Crossroads series that is currently ongoing!

April 2021 - my first digital art piece and messing around with the program (CSP) and brushes and whatnot. Writing Eulogy actually made me want to illustrate my OCs and get into art to begin with, and I was so (un)believably frustrated with my lack of skill it was maddening.

April/May 2021- My "concept" art (lmao)

December 2021 - played a lot with the lighting/colors. I would someday love to recreate this piece with light-up effects. Someday!

January 2022 - my initial design of him. Very muscular indeeeeedy.

February 2022 - still playing with anatomy and a multitude of styles and brushes at this point

April 2022 - ah, I did this piece all in one go of about eight hours, and I'm still very proud of it cause it was the first time I felt I had actually "captured" his character. A very big jump from a year ago!

May 2022 - wanted to take a stab at his cowboy persona, but hated the face

March 2023 - fixed the face, nearly a year later!

June 2024 - his glowing concept comes later in the series, and I wanted to try my hand at it after being heavily inspired by the next two pieces below!

The Princess Royal’s Official Engagements in May 2023

03/05 In preparation for her brothers, King Charles III coronation, Princess Anne carried out the following engagements in central London;

Unofficial HRH along with King Charles III, The Prince and Princess of Wales and Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were at Westminster Abbey for coronation rehearsals 👑

As Colonel of The Blues and Royals, HRH met Officers and senior Non-Commissioned Officers of The Household Division during a visit to Wellington Barracks. 💂‍♂️🫡

As Patron of the SS Great Britain Trust, HRH visited SS GREAT BRITAIN in Bristol, where she toured the Future Brunels Showcase. ⛴️

04/05 The Princess Royal, accompanied by Sir Tim attended the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association Dinner at Fishmongers’ Hall in London 🍽️

05/05 On the eve of her brother, King Charles III’s coronation, Princess Anne, her husband Sir Tim, the King and Queen and all working royals (except Pss Alexandra) carried out the following engagements in central London;

Held a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace for Realm Governor-Generals and Prime Ministers. 🥪

Held a Reception at Buckingham Palace for visiting Heads of State and Overseas Guests. 🥂

Separately The Princess Royal as Colonel of The Blues and Royals (Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), visited members of the Household Cavalry preparing for the Coronation of King Charles III at Hyde Park Barracks. 🐎

06/05 The Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla took place in Westminster Abbey. 👑

Their Majesties left Buckingham Palace at 10.20 o’clock and proceeded in State to the Abbey. Princess Anne, Sir Tim, working royals and other members of the british royal family, foreign royals, leaders, dignitaries and other guests were all in attendance. 👸🤴

Their Majesties returned back to Buckingham Palace in the Gold State Coach, closely followed by the Princess Royal, on horseback, in her role as Gold-Stick-in-Waiting. 🐴

KAMALA HARRIS NOT FOR REPARATIONS

US President Joe Biden appears to have heeded calls from fellow Democratic Party members to withdraw from the 2024 US presidential race, ending his re-election bid on 21 July.

This follows his debate performance on 27 June, which fuelled some Democrats’ worry about Biden’s ability to defeat former President Donald Trump. Public opinion polls released over more than a year have shown Biden faring poorly against Trump.

He has endorsed his vice president, Kamala Harris, whom reports say is the only other Democrat who could access $91 million in Biden-Harris campaign donations.

Since the announcement, Harris has secured the backing of several Democratic Party bigwigs. However, beloved figures like former President Barack Obama held off on endorsing Harris. The Democratic Party will hold its nominating convention in August in Chicago. Still, it remains unclear how the party will democratically choose a nominee, with state primaries ending in June.

The mainstream media has touted Harris’s identity as a mixed Indian and Black woman as why her candidacy is notable, showcasing her as a champion of Black people.

However, in this 2020 interview with theGrio senior correspondent Natasha Alford (@NatashaSAlford on IG, X and TikTok), Harris made it clear that she does not support calls for paying reparations to Black people who are descendants of enslaved people in the United States. Meanwhile, a Reuters/Ipsos poll in 2023 revealed that at least 74 per cent of Black people support reparations.

That position, as well as her record imprisoning Black people as California’s attorney general, has raised questions about her loyalty.

Like Biden, Harris fares poorly in polls against Trump.

It does a disservice to voters who are in the election of a lifetime to share this clip without the full context or a balanced analysis of her civil rights record. VP Harris has endorsed HR 40, a bill for a reparations commission (along with an anti-lynching bill, Black maternal mortality initiatives and more). She has given nuanced and slightly different answers on the reparations issue with various outlets over the years, each revealing how her thinking has shifted- as most politicians do. This won’t be satisfactory to some people, and everyone is entitled to their opinions about the way she answered the question in 2020. But that was FOUR years ago. The Trump administration does not support reparations, let alone DEI. Civil rights for Black Americans are being rolled back before our eyes. The choice between Trump and Harris is day and night. Let’s advance the conversation further so people understand what is at stake right now.

MY RESPONSE TO HER COMMENTS:

I completely get where you're coming from—this is the first time I've actually sat through all her comments on the issue. The REALITY is that none of our so-called leaders have a clue how to tackle this. Sure, they back it as a right to right a wrong, but not one of them has seriously put in the work to make the reparations issue coherent. And let's be honest, all those "leaders" are too scared to even whisper about it to their colonial overlords. So she's just doing what they all do best—DANCE around the question. Until we, as Black people, UNITE and form a global commission with representatives from the Caribbean, Latin and North America, and Europe to sit down, analyze, and figure out what and how much reparations are due, all this talk is nothing more than post-slavery freedom of speech.

Today, #HRW published a long report on the atrocities carried out by the genocidal Gazan terrorists in the #October7masacre.

Under the leadership of the evil Ken Roth, HRW was transformed from a potentially great organization, in to a mouth piece for terror, that promoted the destruction of Israel.

In an attempt to feign neutrality, once in a while, when the reality was already clear to all & could no longer be denied, HRW wrote sporadic reports about the evil terrorists.

They have no honest desire to truly expose the terrorists or to support human rights, their goal is to have a fig leaf they can wave to show their false "bona fides".

So if you do read the report, note the recommendations, such as those supporting the anti-Israel biased UN Commissions of Inquiry, or those supporting the #ICC which had to invent a state and (without jurisdiction) demarcate its borders in order to attack Israel, or those calling on Israel to allow unimpeded access to all the sundry Jew haters.... and the list goes on and on and on.

Notice also the deliberate attempt to draw moral equivalence between Israel and the genocidal terrorists - like including recommendations for the genocidal Hamas terrorists... alongside the recommendations for Israel.

There is nothing innocent in that. It's designed to showcase the HRW promulgated fraud, as if Israel is no less to blame for the situation than the genocidal terrorists.

Early in the morning of October 7, 2023, Sagi Shifroni, 41, like many Israelis living near the Gaza Strip that day, was awakened by sirens. When the attack on Kibbutz Be’eri began, he dashed in his sleepwear with his 5-year-old daughter to his home’s “safe room” or mamad. His wife years earlier had persuaded him to remove the door’s outside handle, so when Palestinian fighters broke into his house at about 11 a.m., they were unable to open the safe room door. Shifroni told Human Rights Watch:

I heard glass breaking and a few seconds later I heard shots fired at the door of the safe room. The door was not bulletproof, so the bullets came through. The whole room filled with the smell of gunpowder and broken cement. … My daughter asked me if they were trying to kill us and I told her, ‘Yes, but they won’t manage.’ They tried to knock the door down for a few minutes but couldn’t. They tried to shoot the hinges.

Shifroni said smoke started seeping through the door:

It was pretty clear that we couldn’t stay here. If we stayed, we would be dead. At this point I decided to get out, it was more like an instinct. I opened the door of the safe room a bit and saw the whole house was on fire, so I turned to the window and opened it. I saw that the whole patio area outside was also on fire.

Shifroni smashed the window glass and pushed the metal shutters open. He wrapped his daughter in a blanket and told her to hold a pillow to her nose and mouth and breathe through it. Then he jumped out, holding her in his arms. His arms, shoulders, back, and face got severely burned. Only at midnight was he able to get to a hospital to treat his burns.

Overview of the October 7 Assault

On the morning of October 7, Palestinian armed groups carried out numerous coordinated attacks including on civilian residences and gatherings and on Israeli military bases in the so-called “Gaza Envelope,” the populated area of southern Israel bordering the Gaza Strip. The armed groups attacked at least 19 kibbutzim and five moshavim (cooperative communities), the cities of Sderot and Ofakim, two music festivals, and a beach party. Community security called kitot konenut, or rapid response teams, and local police tried to resist the attackers until Israeli military forces arrived, often several hours after the assault had begun. The fighting lasted much of that day and, in some cases, longer.

The assault took place on the Jewish holiday of Simchat Torah, when many soldiers were on leave. Palestinian armed groups began the assault with barrages of indiscriminate rockets and projectiles toward Israel. Fighters breached the physical barrier separating Gaza and Israel and then attacked nearby communities. Early in the attacks, the fighters disrupted and destroyed communications and surveillance equipment, leaving Israeli forces unable to develop an accurate picture of the situation.

The largest number of deaths occurred during the attack on the Supernova Music Festival, where at least 364 civilians were killed. Across many attack sites, fighters fired directly at civilians, often at close range, as they tried to flee, and at people who happened to be driving vehicles in the area. They hurled grenades and shot into safe rooms and other shelters and fired rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) at homes. They set some houses on fire, burning and suffocating people to death, and forcing out others who they then captured or killed. They took hundreds hostage for transfer to Gaza or summarily killed them.

Agence France-Presse (AFP), which cross-referenced numerous data sources to verify the number of people killed, has assessed that 815 of a total of 1,195 people killed were civilians, including 79 foreign nationals. Among them were at least 282 women and 36 children. The Palestinian armed groups took hostage 251 civilians and Israeli security forces personnel and brought them back to Gaza following the attack.[1] Those abducted either remain as hostages in Gaza, have been released, or have been killed or died in the ensuing fighting. These are included in the overall death toll.

National and international media outlets detailed many of the atrocities that took place on October 7. Some reports minimized the extent of the abuses, while others included allegations of abuses that were later proven incorrect.

Hamas, the Palestinian movement that has governed the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip since 2007, stated that its armed wing, the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades (the “Qassam Brigades”), led the assault on October 7. Survivor accounts and publicly available digital material from that day show that many of the fighters wore a combination of black or green uniforms or camouflage, some of which resembled Israeli military uniforms. Some wore distinctive headbands or insignia that identified them as members of Hamas or another armed group. Other armed group members wore civilian attire, although some may have been civilians from Gaza who joined the assault.

Most of the victims of the attacks were Jewish Israelis. However, fighters also killed, wounded, or took hostage Israeli dual nationals, Palestinian citizens of Israel, Palestinians from Gaza, and foreign workers, including Chinese, Filipino, Nepali, Sri Lankan and Thai nationals, and at least one national each from Cambodia, Canada, Eritrea, Germany, Mexico, Sudan, Tanzania, and the United Kingdom.

This report aims to capture the nature and extent of violations of international humanitarian law, known as the laws of war, and serious international crimes committed by Palestinian armed groups across numerous attack sites on October 7. The report also examines the role of different Palestinian armed groups involved, and their coordination before and during the attacks.

Human Rights Watch has extensively reported elsewhere on violations of the laws of war by Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups in Gaza and on grave human rights abuses and conditions in Gaza, including since October 7.[2]

I am writing a time travel fic where one lover goes back in time to fix thing and be with his lover. So the 1st person knows him well enough and has all these thought and feeling while to the other person the first one is a complete stranger.

So I wanted to ask, how to showcase the yearning of the first lover. And the second lover who feels like they can trust this person they are in a dilemma as to why because they have never met them.

Character Connection in Time Travel Fic

How to portray the yearning of Character A and the uncertain trust of Character B depends on those characters specifically. In other words, I can't tell you "portray it like this" because only you know these characters, their personalities, their experiences, their relationship, and the situation. And those are all the things that inform how they respond to one another.

From what you're describing--with Character B not knowing or recognizing Character A--it sounds like Character A has to travel pretty far back in time. So with their yearning for Character B, be careful of the age gap that probably exists between them now. In other words, let's say Character A and Character B are in their late 30s in 2023, and Character A travels back twenty years to fix things with Character B. Time Traveling Character A is 38, but Past Character B is in their teens. So, that's going to be an issue as far as yearning goes. Definitely something you'll need to keep in mind, anyway. As long as that's not an issue, you can use The Subtle Signs of Romantic Interest and Love to illustrate that yearning.

As far as Character B trusting this person who is a stranger to them, I think you need to consider why that might be happening. Are you implying that there's some sort of destiny between them and they can pick up on that somehow? Or is it that Character B has already met the younger version of Character A and simply doesn't recognize the older one? In that case, you can hit on points of familiarity--even picking up on similarities between them--but the concept of time travel is so far from young Character B's mind, of course they would never for a second consider that is the older version of B from the future.

Coronation Music at Westminster Abbey

Twelve newly commissioned pieces of music will be performed at The Coronation of Their Majesties The King and The Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023, showcasing musical talent from across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth.

A range of musical styles and performers blend tradition, heritage and ceremony with new musical voices of today, reflecting The King’s life-long love and support of music and the arts.

His Majesty The King has personally commissioned the new music and shaped and selected the musical programme for the Service.

Andrew Nethsingha, Organist and Master of the Choristers, Westminster Abbey, will be overseeing all musical arrangements and directing the music during the Service.

Sir Antonio Pappano, Music Director for the Royal Opera House, will be conducting the Coronation Orchestra which comprises a bespoke collection of musicians drawn from orchestras of The former Prince of Wales’ Patronages including the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.

Six orchestral commissions, five choral commissions and one organ commission, have been specially composed for the occasion by world-renowned British composers whose work includes Classical, Sacred, Film, Television and Musical Theatre. Commissioned works include a new Coronation Anthem by Andrew Lloyd Webber, a Coronation March by Patrick Doyle, a new commission for solo organ embracing musical themes from countries across the Commonwealth by Iain Farrington plus new works by Sarah Class, Nigel Hess, Paul Mealor, Tarik O'Regan, Roxanna Panufnik, Shirley J. Thompson, Judith Weir, Roderick Williams, and Debbie Wiseman.

Soloists will include bass-baritone, Sir Bryn Terfel; soprano, Pretty Yende and baritone, Roderick Williams. The organ will be played by Sub-Organist, Westminster Abbey, Peter Holder, and Assistant Organist, Westminster Abbey, Matthew Jorysz.

The official Royal Harpist Alis Huws will perform as part of the Coronation Orchestra in recognition of The King’s long-standing and deeply held relationship and affiliation with Wales. One of the liturgical sections of the ceremony will also be performed in Welsh.

At the request of His Majesty, in tribute to his late father His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, Greek Orthodox music will also feature in the Service performed by the Byzantine Chant Ensemble.

The Service will be sung by The Choir of Westminster Abbey and The Choir of His Majesty’s Chapel Royal, St James’s Palace, together with girl choristers from the Chapel Choir of Methodist College, Belfast and from Truro Cathedral Choir. The Ascension Choir, a handpicked gospel choir will also perform as part of the Service and The King’s Scholars of Westminster School will proclaim the traditional ‘Vivat’ acclamations.

Fanfares will be played by The State Trumpeters of the Household Cavalry and The Fanfare Trumpeters of the Royal Air Force.

Sir John Eliot Gardiner will conduct The Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque soloists in a pre-Service programme of choral music. A small group of singers from The Monteverdi Choir will also join the main choral forces for the Service.

Music by the likes of William Byrd (1543–1623), George Frideric Handel (1685–1759), Sir Edward Elgar (1857–1934), Sir Henry Walford Davies (1869–1941), Sir William Walton (1902–1983), Sir Hubert Parry (1848–1918) and Ralph Vaughan Williams (1872–1958) has historically featured in the Service over the past four centuries and will be included in the programme along with the music of one of Britain’s most loved and celebrated living composers, Sir Karl Jenkins.
