delivery boy kaps, reporting in on his first notable delivery!!! today, i had a quest to go to round 1 and deliver some packages to some of my friends that otherwise couldn't receive packages at their houses. my bag was super heavy when i set off on my way to round 1, but i treated it as a slight training weight for round 1 preparations... and it maybe seemed like the sdvx scores below agreed with me? i don't personally think i got anything too notable, but i got a ton of cool VF raises despite my warm-up attempts (spent mostly against my friend and his friend www) . maybe i should've come back to it later when i was already warmed up...

only played a single set of ddr today, but i got this sweet flare IX clear on Night of Knights (CSP-16), and a 2g GFC at that (almost a PFC somehow!!!) . still need to work on that MA though, maybe when I'm warmed up a teensy bit more .

so many scores to share today, i doubt i can fit them all in a single post, so i'll see how many i can fit in here before i potentially make a second post!! guess i'll get the arcaea scores out of the way first of all... NULCTRL (FTR-9, MAX-38), Raven's Pride (FTR-9, MAX-24), and Glow (FTR-9, MAX-38) as FTR PMs #126, #127, and #128 respectively, as well as an EX on Distorted Fate [ETR-10+]!!! (today was not a very good shiny pure acc day...)

also kinda felt in the mood and warmed up with a bunch of EZ2ON scores, with a few very swag highlights including Changa 2 (5S SHD 13) No Miss, Sand Storm (6S HD 14) All Cool, RAV#GIRL (6S HD 15) S+ and (4S SHD 17) All Cool, and a tragic Chobit Flavor (4S SHD 18) 1 good...

but now, it's actually arcade day arcade time!!! and we're kicking it off with some song suggestions as sdvx warmups for the day!!! though i'm feeling kinda anemic... agh...

back with DDR!!! I LOVE MYUKKE!!!! got a GFC AAA on doubles and a PFC on singles for The 88's Instigation!!!!!!

went to eat something since i was feeling super tired and out of it, then came back and hopped on iidx to do some more song suggestions... ones which i really kinda sucked at!!! maybe i'm just completely out of it today... sigh...

went back to ddr to do even more song suggestions and to see if i had gotten any better somehow, and surprisingly? i think i did!!! look ma, i'm gaming!!!

June 18th, 2024 - Arcaea, Rotaeno, DDR WORLD

The Chronicles of PMs continues!!! Starting with Silent Rush (FTR-8, MAX-28) and Cosmica (FTR-8+, MAX-10) as FTR PMs #87 and #88 respectively, clearing out what I can of the Binary Enfold folder!!!!

following it up with this pretty cool Rotaeno sightread... very cool...

and then following THAT up with ANOTHER upscore on Singularity VVVIP, this time a 2-2 score!!! then also a very intentional 1-1 on Feels So Right for a challenge, and then my very first clear on PRAGMATISM -RESURRECTION- (BYD-11) as part of another challenge!!!

funny story, i actually got that PragRes clear on a bus with barely any audio! why was i on a bus, you ask? well, because i was heading to Round 1 to play me some DDR World!!! and i've got ALL the banger scores to show for it!!! warmed up with a very nice and cool set (lie) (it was all 15s+) (why did i do this to myself), and then immediately followed it up with the JUN SET JUN SET JUN SET FULL OF BANGERS (HAPPY ANGEL CSP-16, SILVER DREAM ESP-15, KIMONO PRINCESS ESP-15, and SUPER SAMURAI ESP-15), all AAA'd and Flare EX clears!!! (except HAPPY ANGEL for obvious reasons)

kept playing and gaming for a little while after that, getting a sick Flare IX clear on Eon Break ESP-16 and Lose Your Sense ESP-17 (which, really funny story: i tried doing the Akuma from Streets pose at the ending hold and ended up dropping the hold, but still keeping alive with the gauge . i thought it wouldn't hurt much, but turns out it was THAT HOLD SPECIFICALLY that prevented me from getting an AAA!!! why did i do that?!?!?! whyyy?!?!?!?!?)

after that though, my skill kinda started waning and i shifted from grinding singles to doubles, got a Flare VII clear on Yoidore Shirazu EDP-13, and then switched back to singles so i could play against a local friend to get a Flare EX on Nanahoshi ESP-15 and Flare VI on AETHER ESP-17!!!

realistically though, i couldn't really keep up with the game anymore and started feeling a little disappointed in my skill, so i packed it up and went home, stopping by boba on the way where i caught up on my rotaeno/arcaea stamina stuff :] (even got this sweet upscore on Swirling Blue while i was at it! AP soon?)

okay okay wait, i need to switch over to talking about arcaea quickly because this new score i got is INSANE. so i kinda really suck at beyond charts even at their lowest (level 9), which is why i was super surprised when i played Infinity Heaven (BYD-9) on the bus, barely any audio, and suddenly got... a PURE MEMORY??? MAX-34??? BYD PM #2???? LSDJFLSDJLFKDJESLKFJ

then of course, to cap off the day and use up all my Arcaea world mode stamina, a bunch of new PMs!!! Blocked Library (FTR-9, MAX-23), blue comet (FTR-8, MAX-2????), Prism (FTR-8, MAX-24), Eccentric Tale (FTR-8, MAX-19), and a slight +4 upscore on 1F√ (FTR-8, MAX-9) as FTR PMs #89, #90, #91, and #92 (barring 1F√ since i already had it) respectively!!!

and of course, to top it all off, i got a 970 on Tempestissimo BYD-11!!!! +0.01 PTT!!! woo yeah babey!!!

June 16th, 2024 - Arcaea, DDR WORLD

fun time's over... it's back to work for lil ol' me now... but before that can happen, i'm making the most of it with some early morning arcaea scores... like this 996 upscore on Singularity VVVIP!!! followed by this 994 EX+ on Ego Eimi!!! both increasing my potential ever so slightly up to 12.34!!! graahhHH!!!!!

work took a REAL long while (9 hours) but once that was finished and seeing that no buses were passing for the next hour, i went to round 1 for a single set of ddr and got some nice new Flare EX clears on Don't Stop The HYPERCORE and DOUBLE TORNARD!! both are absolute bangers and charts i absolutely want to PFC in the near future...

then, just when i thought my session couldn't get any better and while i was waiting to take a post-work shower... i got THIS on Rise of the World??? A 997 2-2 massive upscore??? what the fuck???????? i'm in shock, this is prob one of my most impressive scores in the game given how Technical and Hellish this chart is... full recall soon?

March 21st, 2025 - Ensemble Stars!!, SDVX EG, DDR WORLD, Arcaea, IIDX 32, DANCERUSH STARDOM, StepManiaX

WOOOHOOOO THAT'SA LOTTA GAMES!!!! but don't be fooled by the header!!! as much as it seems like a massive standalone arcade gaming session, it's actually just a hangout with my friends at the mall that involved a "few" rhythm games!!! it was our first hangout as a group (+1 additional member) in a year, so i was super ecstatic for the day to arrive... so excited that i installed and played enstars all night in preparation for the big day!!! and since i got the JP version, i finally got to play the single best chart in the game that i've been wanting to try for ages... Eccentric Party Night!! [Special Lv.5]!!!

but today... today was FINALLY the day!!! i got up, cleaned up myself and my room, took a shower to #FreshenUp, packed my gaming stuff, and headed over to the Pick-up Location to arrive with friends at the destination... and right off the bat it was HYPE!!! didn't get any photos from DDR as i was suffering a Lent debuff, but i somehow scrounged up enough energy to kill it in SDVX, where i celebrated my good awesome friend RDBomber's birthday by getting an AAA and HC on Lachryma [EXH-18]!!!

now that my morning fasting for lent was up, we went to go grab a boba treat to re-energize ourselves and wander around the mall for a bit. but it wasn't very long until we came back to round 1 and continued gaming... this time with me getting some decent scores on DDR and SDVX!!! graghjhhh that Sakazuki [ESP-16] could've been a PFC if i didn't choke at the start

played some arcaea for challenges while waiting to get something to """eat""" (i ended up eating Nothing), but i didn't get anything notable other than a bit more consistency on Vulcanus [FTR-10+]

once my friends finished eating however, we scoured a few stores and walked around to cool down from the arcade overstimulation before heading back to round 1 for the last time . and an epic return at that, because we had a ton of fun playing IIDX (mostly just them watching me LOL) and doing dance trains on Dancerush!!!

but for the actual final rhythm gaming of the session... it's the return of a sorely missed and super fun game, one I've def wanted to play a lot more... STEPMANIAX!!! haven't tried this game seriously in quite a while, but i wasn't really in the mood for DDR and we were waiting for our ride back home near the DRS cabs, so i decided to hop on...! and IMMEDIATELY i started kicking ass again, finally getting my first clear on Pink Fuzzy Bunnies [WILD 25] as Lv.25 Clear #3 and then upscoring it from 89k -> 90k shortly after!! but it doesn't stop at singles, as i tried out FULL again too to take some machine records (mainly just Energizer [FULL 23] 87k) and get Lv.25 Clear #4 on Bloodrush [FULL 25]!!!

MAN that was a fun hangout, and i'm super grateful for my friends and the spirit they brought to the hangout even after a year!! i admittedly wasn't really in the groove as i was starving for most of the day, but i still enjoyed myself regardless and made sure they knew that after we arrived home and returned for now to our silly little online games :] i wish i could've played other games more too, but i was being rather frugal and didn't wanna spend any money that i knew i didn't have to use, so unfortunately not much arcade RGs on my own :[ hopefully i can scrounge up enough to come back for another banger session sometime soon...!

March 9th, 2025 - DDR WORLD

okay okay, today was the day!!! i was gonna go to round 1, i was gonna get the best scores possible for the tournament, and i was gonna move onto the final round and claim victory against all my opponents!!! it was a flawless plan, right? WRONG!!! i was doing homework practically all day to save myself from the stress while playing, but the more i got through... the later and hungrier i was!!! when the time where i should've been at round 1 came, i was instead picking up some pizza while walking that took me an hour of both homework and dance gaming time.

but eventually after finishing my most time-sensitive assignments of the day, i was LATE!!! i ran out of the house to the bus and waited for it, but just when it stopped by... it went off!!! without me!!! not a single care in the world!!! hate it here... so i spent another whole half-hour in the rain waiting for the next stop, and i'm heavily convinced it got me super sick the next day (ergo, as i'm writing this)... but i got there, washed my throat down with some water, put away my umbrella, and entered ready to set some banger scores and get outta there as soon as possible...

but to my horror, it was FULL . there were too many damn people, and all of them were waiting their turn on the cab!!! it was all people i recognized, sure, but they were In My Way and i realistically wouldn't be able to set any good scores in their presence . alas, i had no choice but to give up for the day... until i saw a really good friend of mine that i hadn't seen since college!!! one that was just as passionate about rhythm and fighting games as i was!!! we greeted each other with a big hug and caught up with each other on our interests and improvements over the past... year??? damn, so it really has been that long... but it was nice and awesome, i'm super glad to have stuck around enough to greet her before i left :] we left alongside her group for the day, me being convinced i wouldn't have gotten any good submissions for the tournament, and despite not achieving what i came here to do... i still left happy and eager!!!

ohyeah, there was a single notable score today though!!! didn't write all that for nothin' after all :] a sweet sweet 46p PFC on Mesmerizer [ESP-15] as 15 PFC #20!!!

February 19th, 2025 - Arcaea, Music Diver, IIDX 32, DDR WORLD

a few more challenges out of the way, an atrocious re-PM on Altair out of it... ueeeee

but not to worry!!! the REAL showing here is not your ordinary little one-and-done arcaea score, but rather... a sudden quick(?) trip to round 1 for the day!!! and we're starting it off with... MUSIC DIVER!!! really it was just a free credit i found while waiting for someone to fix the audio-less IIDX cab i wanted to play, but i got some more practice in and even reached 14k rating via upscores and new songs!!!

but now at last, the iidx cab was fixed and i was able to play once again, so i hopped on and started ripping it with some nice scores!!! only three scores, sure, but that's because i was using these sets to prepare for my real target goal this afternoon, and that involved grinding lower bpm charts to improve my timing and get ready for scoring on the evil DDR charts that were to come...

so here it is, DDR!!! this weekend was the deadline for submitting my scores to the Solstice Arena ODYSSEY remote tourney, and i wanted to get the best scores i could while not dedicating too much time to replay after replay (mostly as i wanted to get back to schoolwork ASAP) . initially, it seemed like the iidx practice paid off -- i got a PFC on Broken (ESP-13, 27p) first try of the day, and followed it up immediately with my first PFC on Easy Peasy (ESP-14, 44p) as 14 PFC #25, which was ALSO first try of the day! but as nice as a PFC was, it wasn't a very good perfect count, so i ran it back with a higher speed now that i knew the chart and, while i got a great that ruined any PFC potential, i walked away with WAY better EX score than my initial PFC -- just what i needed to submit my score and climb up the rankings!!! got a few more random scores, like a Flare EX clear on Sakazuki [ESP-16] and a sightread PFC on Confetti*Concert (ESP-14, 40p) as 14 PFC #26!!!

now onto the next song... Desert Journey [CSP-15]!! i was a bit worried about the former because of its DDR 2013 jank, and jank it had indeed... so many weird patterns, so many fails because of those patterns, i didn't have a pleasant time with the chart at all, but i pulled through as it was required for the tourney and to my absolute shock... i managed to take it down with a 30p PFC as 15 PFC #19!!! somehow!!! despite all the jank and shock arrows!!!

then before i started playing ALGORITHM, i spent the rest of my attempts on Totsugeki! Glass kneesocks princess! [ESP-14] and somehow, on the very first attempt of the day... i FINALLY closed out the PFC on it with a solid 41p as 14 PFC #27!!! the problem! i only took a picture of the outro cutscene... and not, y'know, the results screen with the judgement breakdown . the outro is thankfully enough proof and info on the PFC, but i tried running it back for hopefully better MA and an actual judgement breakdown only to get 7 more perfects,,, but i have the pfc!!! just trust me!!!

but finally, after all that was said and done, it was time for the last titan of the qualifiers... ALGORITHM [CSP-15]!!! this chart was way newer (only a little over a year old) and so i wasn't really worried about the jank, but rather the super slow bpm and massive amounts of crossovers that were evidently some of my biggest weaknesses in the game,,, but whatever, i had to do it anyway!!! and so i suffered through the chart several times, constantly adjusting my speed to figure out what worked and what didn't... but given my grinds on Easy Peasy and Desert Journey, i wasn't really motivated to get a super high score on this one anymore, though i was still proud of my solid 997,900 on it!!! spent the rest just making the most of my credit, working on old scores and extra savior unlocks alike, and the most notable non-qualifier score of the session being this insane 984k on London EVOLVED ver.C [CSP-17] that was oh-so-close to an FC... until the unfortunate ending scoobies sabotaged it . maybe one day i'll actually get it...

back at home, i was determined to keep working on my schoolwork now that i had my ddr tournament worries out of the way, but i also still had that rhythm gaming fire left in me because of the insane scores i claimed earlier... so i decided, why not call back to the first score of the day and play a bit more arcaea? specifically... could i finally take down the PM on init() [FTR-9+] that had haunted me for so long already? i seriously doubted it, but the acid map was ending soon and i didn't have all the maimai cores yet, so i reluctantly grinded as much as i could on the chart with temptai to maximize progress before the end, and miraculously... out of nowhere... it happened!!! i finally did it,,, a PM on init() (FTR-9+, MAX-26) as FTR PM #236, and with my PM on Desive from a few days ago... that was every Ayu original song PM'ed on FTR!!! (oh right, i also did complete the acid map, but only after being forced to use a memory boost with fatalis hikari so i wouldn't have to stay up until 5 am every time my stamina refreshed . terrible, terrible design...

arcaea warmup!!! except there's no upscores lmfao get baited

instead for today, we have iidx!!! originally wasn't planning on doing anything but homework today, but family's working around the house and disconnecting the power and so i was sent off to round 1 to distract myself as i wouldn't be able to work at home for the time being... soooo let's warm up some more with some iidx!!! alas, there really is nothing notable here, besides an NC on Mesmerizer [SPA-11] as 11 NC #1... but that was already a long time coming . i guess the Crank It [SPA-9, RAN] HC is cool? i don't even know man

instead, the REAL action lies in the DDR scores for today!!! got some cool stuff for ya right here, like a 44p PFC on DoLL [CSP-13], first try of the day!!! mostly miscellaneous scores after that, but they're pretty notable!!! such scores include a 981k upscore on DIAVOLO [CSP-18], as well as FCs on Kagachi [ESP-16, 995k], Sakazuki [ESP-16, 993k, sightread!!] and No More Love [ESP-16, 988k]!!!!!!

aaaand last one for the day, it's a GFC on Blizzard of Arrows [CSP-17, 988k] for a friend who couldn't get it, hip hip hooray!!! now if only i could get this one on my account...

February 8th, 2025 - IIDX 32, GITADORA GALAXY WAVE, SDVX EG, DDR WORLD

ANOTHER ARCADE SESSION!! ALBEIT A WAY BRIEFER ONE!!! wasn't exactly planning on going to za arcade today, but i got kicked out of the house so my sister could host a valentine's party with her friends :] sooo impromptu session with a few scores!!1 and a few free credit snipes!!! started with the usual using a little EC on Kyouhan Heaven's Code [SPA-10] on IIDX as warmup, then spotted a free credit on GITADORA and gave it a shot, only to reach ORANGE Skill Rank!!! Yay!!! 1000 Skill Breached!!!1 ...though i don't really understand GITADORA's ranking system, so i'll have to look into it a bit more before i set my goal for the year. i also spotted a free credit on sdvx, so snatched that one too ! (plus a sick sightread 972k on DIAVOLO [CSP-18] for DDR www)

and now, for the rest of the entire session... Oops! All IIDX!! dunno why i didn't play any other games, but the scores here aren't all that bad either!! re-HC'ed Tripping Jumping [SPA-10] with a slightly better score, then it's just a bunch of miscellaneous scores (besides my sick AA NC on New Castle Legions [SPH-10]) that i can't really be bothered to write about... not necessarily a bad session, but nothing really notable happened here :/ i'll get those failed 11s someday...

February 1st, 2025 - IIDX 32, DDR WORLD, SDVX EG (2/2)

we're back!! hit the image limit a bit too early last post, but thankfully we've only got enough scores to go that can all fit in a single post :] to reward you for viewing this post as well (and to compensate the early conclusion of the first post), here's an A-rank RAN EC on MAX 360 [SPH-10]!!!

and now it begins... the TRUE ddr spree of today's session ! eating that meal was the best decision i could've possibly made, as i proceeded to get 15 PFC #18 on the second qualifier song of the tourney, Teleportation [ESP-15]!! and then immediately following after that, when i couldn't find a specific suggestion and had no idea what else to play, i went straight to Scarlet Police on Ghetto Patrol [CSP-18] and was kinda having a bad run... but at the end, somehow, despite my terrible misses and MA... i GOT IT!!! 18 AAA #1 ON SCARLET POLICE!!!! IT'S OVERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

wasn't done with what i came to do, but i already felt like i could leave satisfied and accomplished... but we've still got several more suggestions to get through, so let's get to it!!! a 975k on Awaodori [ESP-14], a VERY impressive 927k upscore on Shakunetsu Beach Side Bunny [CSP-18], and then i tried the last of the qualifier songs, Lose Your Sense [ESP-17], and ended up getting... a 995k on it first try of the day!!! okay yeah that was MORE than enough to get a decent score on the qualifier phase, so i just rolled with that and continued with my suggestions. next set was just pure suffering (except for 14 PFC #24 from on the bounce (ESP-14, 35P)!!), and then the set AFTER that had even cooler scores... A GFC AAA ON PANIC HOLIC [ESP-16] AND A 974K SIGHTREADON []DENTITY [ESP-17]!!! let's move past the diablosis score tho hahahaaaa (impossible chart istg) . wrapped it up with one more suggestion on the gold cab (and a PFC on Bad Routine (ESP-9, 19p)), then using my last extra stage on unlocking Beyond the Earth so i could FINALLY move onto Phase 2 of the BEMANI Selection vol.1 Extra Savior pack... at long last...

but before i could go, i had to get through just a few more SDVX song suggestions... mostly just 17s, so it was pretty chill, and while i didn't really get any notable scores out of it... i got a decent amount of volforce!!! hope to get even more next time (wonder if i can hit 17.5 VF next session)...

aaand that wraps it up for this session!!! it was a long series of two posts, but i had fun recounting this incredible return session after so long of being sabotaged by sickness and skill issue,,, hoping for more scores along the way, and you'll def see them with my participation and quest for perfection in the upcoming Solstice Arena ODYSSEY remote tournament!!! but until then, thanks for reading!!!!

iiiiiit's ARCADE DAY AGAIN!!!! i had a mini-session earlier this week, but it was basically Nothing compared to this session (and also i had to go back home mid-session due to discomfort and school stress) . but my midterm was over, i didn't really have any homework that required all my time Ever, and it didn't look like there was anything important going on at home for the day... so let's go make the most of today and have my first truly fire session of the year!!! leeeet's PINKY!!!!! my default warmup game,,, i know i played it in that earlier week session, but i didn't feel like i made the most of my session . so let's get it STARTED!!! with Secrets [SPH-9] to tackle a rival challenge by baga!!! only to get destroyed when going after his score on Silly Love [SPA-10]...

whatever though, there's always the next game to play... DDR!!!! this is the game i DIDN'T have a chance to play last time, and i'm thankfully in the right gear to play this week!! had to warm up, so my first few songs were chill PFCs on a chill (and banger) Kagachi (DSP-13, 30p) and Tsumi to Batsu (ESP-11, 20p), but then i picked up the pace in my next few sets with a 996k on KIMONO PRINCESS [ESP-15] and a sightread PFC on a remote tourney qualifier song... Anthurium (ESP-13, 34p)!!!

back to IIDX, i wanted to mash some buttons and brush up on my timing before heading back to DDR, so i got a ton more clears and upscores!!! new ones include sightread HC on RUGGED ASH [SPA-9] (AAA soon?), an HC on Bahram Attack [SPA-10] (FINALLY, and just barely,,,), HC on Shakunetsu Lost Summer Dayz [SPH-10], an EC on Beat Radiance [SPA-10], and a sightread AAA on Amanojaku [SPH-9]!!! everything after that is unfortunately a cringe fail cause this game is so hard,,, but things might start looking up soon enough!!

was getting a bit frustrated with my iidx skill and scores, so i went over to SDVX to play a friend's recommendations and see if it'd do me a little bit better!! and it honestly DID!!! the S on Calamity Tempest [EXH-17] was just a sightread i did on my own, and then i re-did an AAA+ on Himiko [EXH-17]!! verflucht, however... VERY hard chart, can't do it for the life of me . ah well, maybe next session.

went to go eat so i wouldn't pass out mid session as i was getting really dizzy and hungry, and in the meanwhile i looked through even more suggestions from Twitter Dot Com for songs to play across the big three bemani games!! i went to get myself an energy drink after my meal to push through some of the IIDX suggestions, as i had a TON of 11s suggested that i didn't think i could clear... and with my hunger satiated and my eyes bloodshot red (not actually LOL), i headed back into the arcade to take down every suggestion i got!! starting with the IIDX suggestions, which were a dime a dozen compared to any other game... and the clears i got honestly weren't that bad!! started slow with an EC on MAX 300 [SPH-10], but then the first of the storm of new clears... Gattai seyo! Strong Jaeger!! (Ryu Remix) [SPA-11] EC, D.C.fish [SPA-11] EC, upscore re-AAA on Igaku [SPA-9], very bad ran EC on P.O.W.E.R. January 19th, 2025 - DDR WORLD, PIU 2024 PHOENIX

finally!! an arcade visit!! after so long without one!!! haven't been able to make this arcade trips for so long because of having a sickness, but i've recovered enough to make the trip just for today, so here's the scores i got!!! finally cleared PARANOIA EVOLUTION [CSP-18] for the first time (nightmare chart LOL), then i got a sweet new PFC on CyberConnect (ESP-15, 62p) as 15 PFC #17 first try of the day!! and then soon after on the other cab, i pulled off a sightread PFC on Amazing Bomberman (ESP-14, 41p) as 14 PFC #23!!! then to wrap things up for the DDR side of things, a beeg upscore to 997k on starmine [ESP-15] (PFC soon?), and a first-try 994k AAA on Red. by Full Metal Jacket [CSP-17]??? hah???

...moving on then, there's only one notable score for PIU today (every other score was a failed attempt to FC PUPA for another relay race), and that's a clear on KUGUTSU D21...! ...which didn't feel like a 21 at all . expecting this to become a D19 in the next version LOL but might as well get it while i'm still on the grind to Advanced Lv.4!!

aaand that's all for today's session!! pretty short one, but the arcade was getting full and stuffy and i really needed to grind the hell out of ZZZ before all the events ended... but before i go...

January 4th, 2025 - PIU 2024 PHOENIX, DDR WORLD, SDVX EG, ProSeka

last arcade day of winter break... before my doom arrives in the form of Winter Quarter . i Really didn't have much else to do at home, and there wasn't gonna be another chance like this in the near future without the looming threat of school homework and responsibility... so to hell with it! let's go get our groove on at the arcade!!

showed up to the sight of some local friends playing pump (including my first time seeing one of them play PIU i think??), at which point we thought "heyyy since there's three of us all here... why not try some co-op charts?" and so we did!!! started with the newest chart, ENERGY SYNERGY MATRIX CO-OP X3, only to fail out in the middle while still getting a Decent score.. but then we recovered first with an S+ on STORM CO-OP X3, and then with District 1 CO-OP X3!!! didn't play the CO-OP X2 chart at the end there, but i did hop on after everyone else was done and got an upscore to S on STAGER S19 + a sightread clear on DISTRICT V D20 (PEAAAAAAK !!!!!!!!)

quick switch over to DDR: scores were unfortunately not that impressive... held PFC on We're so Happy [ESP-16] 'til the combo break and just barely scraped by, but it was all downhill from there in terms of score... (at the very least, i walked away with a 25p PFC on First Action [ESP-12])

saw a free credit on PIU and took advantage of it to play a request from an earlier session by one of the song artists themselves: Adrenaline Blaster D19!!! where i managed to raise it on an S+!!!! unfortunately failed out shortly after on HTTP D19, which i still think should've been raised up to a D20... (totally not because i'm salty about the fail, but like actually,,,)

and of course, what better way to end off the session than with some SDVX!!! i may or may not have just played because of my friend wanting to do friend matches, but i got some damn good scores out of it!!! a 977 -> 983 to REINCARNATION [EXH-17] (thanks to him sharing the song w/ me lol), an HC on Butterfly Twist [MXM-18] up from 0 -> 968 -> 973, and got two other all-new 18 clears (Nhelv [MXM-18] and DataErr0r [MXM-18]) at the very end !!!

went back home and freshened up with a shower, not really planning to play any more rhythm games for the day except maybe for dailies, but that's when i revisited an earlier mention from a friend about this cool new ProSeka chart that i might like... the APPEND chart for snooze!!! it had a funky IIDX-like scratching section at the end, so i had to try it!!! using the new non-slip mat i bought from amazon just before the new year, i went to the kitchen and gave it a sightread try only to get a ... decent sightread clear IG??? it could've been better, as i initially thought... and proceeded to prove it with three subsequent banger scores on the same chart in under 30 minutes, like a 10gr 5cb to a 6gr 1g (rip) to a 1gr 3cb??? you're saying i could've had a 1gr FC as my first Lv.33 FC if i just didn't choke the ending so hard??? tragic... but i'll get it next time, trust !!!

December 30th, 2024 (1/2) - IIDX 32, SDVX EG, DDR WORLD, GITADORA GALAXY WAVE, Arcaea, StepManiaX

it's about time for the end of the year... been quite a long one, huh? so many achievements this year, so many new people met and interacted with, so many chokes of despair and pain in and out of rhythm games... but in retrospect, i'd say it was All Worth It:tm:!!!

but!!! to conclusively wrap things up for the year and to scratch that 2024 itch one last time, i'm having my last arcade session of the year to see just how far i've come in rhythm gaming this year (and to give some of my arcade RG ratings a slight boost for the 2024 rhythm gaming recap >:])!!! while not as long of a session as i've had before, this one's still chock full of cool stuff based on suggestions from mutuals and friends on Twitter Dot Com !!!

warming up with the usual IIDX finger-training warmup, we have six banger scores over the course of two sets (with a tragic fail prematurely ending the second set), all AA and above... starting with my warmup song suggestion from twitter, an AA (AAA-24) on Speculation [SPH-9], followed by a bit of World Tourism grinding with an AAA on Rock It [SPH-8], and then with the REAL SCORES beginning from here on out!!! an INSANE AA UPSCORE on 199024club -Re:BounceKiller- [SPH-10], then ANOTHER AA UPSCORE on COSMIC V3LOCITY [SPH-10] (just ignore the assist-easy clear on it www), and then wrapping up the session for now with two incredible scores on two incredible songs for my second incredible set... a re-AA upscore on Y&Co. is dead or alive [SPH-9], and an all-new awesome AA on Dazzlin' Darlin [SPA-10]!!!!

and now, for some VOLTEX GAMING!!! this one's a mix of suggestions from my friend, as well as some random songs which i thought would bump my rating up a little as well... so as you can see below, MANY volforce upscores and many upscores (or generally just new scores) along the way!! we got some volforce from Sakazuki [EXH-17], nothing from Got more raves ? [EXH-17], and then some more volforce from a sightread AAA on Little princess has no identity. [EXH-17]... as well as even more volforce from a massive upscore on waxing and wanding [MXM-18]!!! ...oh, and the other scores? these are ALSO from a friend's suggestion, the song title being a somewhat confusing one for me at the time but the "Arr.Demetori" making it an easy search . i had no idea what i was getting into with this chart, and it honestly didn't seem all that bad when i was first playing...? but then came the crosshands and one-hands... and no matter how hard i tried to recall just before the patterns, i'd always end up choking them . so i tried and tried again, always messing up and not having enough excessive gauge to finish off the chart, but at the very end of a set where i played nothing but the song, i did it...! an AAA (just below AAA+ damnit) and Excessive Clear on Shinkou wa hakanaki ningen no tame ni ~ Arr.Demetori [EXH-17]!!!!

and now, for the moment you've allll been waiting for... DDR TIME!!! i was sorta avoiding DDR because the machines seemed crowded and the lines a bit too long, but i think it freed up enough at some point to play on rotation, and so i hopped in line and played a mix of suggestions and just stuff that sounded pretty good!!! very good choice, because as a result, i got Kill The Night [ESP-14] as 14 PFC #22!!! ...and some other cool scores ig,... hgjmsdmfdshj

GITADORA BREAK!!!! got yet another song suggestion for this game, but i also just wanted to jam out to some drumming tunes and this game was by far the best one to do just that :] well hey, i got my highest level clear(? is the 5.55 Advanced of Oh my! Lovely! Sweety! Darling! the highest? i don't remember...) out of it, so it all worked out in the end!!! other scores include getting a slight S-rank upscore on Pop music ron [ADV 4.60], a sightread A on Itte. (EXT 4.55, the aforementioned suggested song), and a sightread clear on Niji no saki ni nani ga aru ka [ADV 5.30]!!!

one last non-DDR intermission: a smaller series of Arcaea scores i got while waiting in line for my turn on the cab!!! now, given i'm just playing with thumbs on my lap and have no audio to work with, you'd think i'd be flopping and getting terrible scores the whole way through, right? WRONG!!! completely unbeknownst to me, these scores would be the best non-PM scores i'd had in a while... as i ended up getting a MASSIVE 991 -> 998 FULL RECALL upscore on La'qryma of the Wasteland [BYD-10], as well as... FINALLY GETTING AN EX+ ON WORLD ENDER [BYD-11]!!!! WE OUT HEREEEE

BACK TO DDR!!! by this point, i thought i was almost completely out of steam (fueled more by this somewhat poor score on AI [ESP-16] , but i think i just needed to wake myself up a little... because shortly after, it was all PFCs and all upscores!!! a re-PFC on Dance and Death (ESP-13, 49p -> 35p), a NEW ALSO-39p PFC on Kyuukurarin [ESP-13], and then an INSANE re-PFC upscore on Setsujou danka (ESP-15, 64p -> 40p) to wrap the whole set up???

quick move over to StepManiaX as i still had a few other song suggestions left in order to finally wrap things up across each game... i had a somewhat rough start as my legs were Still kinda feeling weak after DDR, but i persisted and was rewarded handsomely for said persistence!!! a 94.8k FC on The Saint Goes Marching (Helix Remix 2020 Edit) [WILD 21], an even cooler 95.2k clear on Gargoyle [WILD 24], and a best-of-all 96.9k FC on Xuxa [WILD 23]!!! ...unfortunately, however, it seems i hit the image limit with this last section, and thus i'll have to continue this in another post... but it won't be as long thankfully!!! just a few more SMX and SDVX scores, then a lot more sweet Arcaea achievements!!!

December 27th, 2024 - SDVX EG, PIU 2024 PHOENIX, IIDX 32, DDR WORLD

arcade day!!! couldn't really figure out how to start this post other than saying i had quite a bit more planned today with regards to non-arcade stuff... the day before, i had the amazing idea of binging the first two Sonic movies before going to the theater to watch Sonic 3! so that night, i got started on rewatching the first one, but i never managed to get through the second one as i saw a triggering scene and my head ached too much to really pay attention to the second one... thus, i was unable to fulfill my dream of watching all three movies within the same 24 hours before going to round 1 afterwards . however, i did have another reason to visit round 1 that day anyway... and that was to meet up with an online rhythm gaming friend blowing in from up north!!! he had contacted me about meeting up there during my watch of the first movie, and i happily accepted, so here came the day to show up and game!!! starting with a teensy little sdvx warmup where i may or may not have left him hanging...

but now, for the REAL DEAL!!! this aforementioned rhythm gaming friend was not just any rhythm gaming friend.... he was a huge awesome co-op player!!! and since a new update released recently with new co-op charts, we tried them out together, getting this sweet new S-rank clear on Discord (CO-OP X2), as well as little fun re-clears for him (but new clears for me) on Rage of Fire (CO-OP X2) and Another Truth (CO-OP X2)!!! ...only to get our asses beaten to the ground by the newest and much more menacing Horang Pungryuga chart (CO-OP X2)... but overall, a really fun set, and i'm glad i got to experience co-op again for the first time in quite a while!!!

SWITCH OVER to IIDX!!! i watched the friend play for a bit and even saw him clear SP 5th Dan on complete sightread!!! shortly after that, i had a really strong itch to play it myself, and so i did...! alas, i only ended up playing two sets and taking photos of three songs, but they're not all that bad!!! after all, they include an EXHC on Igaku [SPA-9], an HC on Verflucht [SPH-10], and a sightread random EC on HAPPY ANGEL [SPA-10]!!!

and now, for the DDR portion of this post!!! with first place being meeting up with the friend, the second most exciting thing about this round 1 trip was the new christmas content update to DDR World!!! you may have seen the grand return of full-screen BGAs from a few posts ago(?), but this one was even better... it was the grand addition of other characters (like alice and baby-lon!! wow), other customization stuff, NEW BANGER LICENSES, NEW CONTEST SONGS and even NEW CLASSIC SONG CHALLENGE CHARTS!!! one of which, Hana ranman -Flowers- [CSP-14], i managed to snipe on sightread with a 30p PFC as 14 PFC #21!!! additionally impressive scores include finally getting a GFC AAA (with 995k score, at that!) on 9th Outburst [ESP-15], a sightread 49p PFC (albeit a really bad one) on the absolute banger of a contest song that is Dance and Death [ESP-13], a really damn good upscore (949k -> 978k) on Monkey Business [CSP-16], and even a sightread GFC AAA on Mesmerizer [ESP-15]!!!

quick SDVX interjection between DDR sets when i was sorta gassed out and needed a break... i wasn't really expecting or hoping for much from this set, given i'd already gotten a nice 18 upscore earlier to satisfy my needs, but i got a shocker of an upscore that blew said 18 upscore out of the water... it was a a UC on Juusan futou [EXH-16], a chart I hadn't even S-ranked prior...! and it was my first naturally occuring UC since BBKKBKK NOV, an insane feat by itself!!! with a 999 at that, holyhelll...

back to DDR, however!!! there's not many scores left (only 3 more, actually), so this is gonna be quite the short paragraph to wrap things up... but before i could leave round 1 and finally get to watching the second sonic movie, i Needed to get a PFC on a certain new license whose chart was torturing me all session long... a song and chart none other than Igaku [ESP-13] . but like, i'd already played the chart in IIDX with similar timing windows... why was it so hard to do the same in DDR all of a sudden?? beats me, but along the way i realized just how good i was at BE LOVIN [CSP-15], another one of the new song challenge charts!!! maybe i could even PFC it some other day... but no time to think about that now!!! i kept trying and trying for the PFC on the aforementioned chart, failing time and time again at the stupidest patterns possible... until finally... i got a 30p PFC on Igaku [ESP-13]!!! oh right, and to wrap things up... a PFC (and Flare EX clear) on Warera kanzen muteki no idol!! [ESP-12] (CSP-15 is gonna take me much, much longer...)

BONUS: I GOT A RASIS FIGURE FROM MY SISTER FOR CHRISTMAS!!! YOOOOOOOOOO !!!!! admittedly, it feels a bit degenerate to own this given her clothing (or lack thereof), but having this figure in my possession now is so surreal yet incredible... there's two of em now!!! one fat and stinky, the other tall and beautiful... wwwww

December 23rd, 2024 - StepManiaX, IIDX 32, DDR WORLD, Arcaea

now THIS is a real classic arcade lineup!!! gone are the days of GCM taking over multiple posts for a single day... we're back to much smaller and more comfortable rhythm gaming sessions, though originally this post wasn't supposed to happen??? i didn't exactly have any plans to visit Round 1 today, so even this session comes at a shock to me . however, i needed to return a controller to a friend who'd left it at my house amidst the massive arcade session from this past weekend, and Round 1 (seeing as it was in the mall where he worked) was just the most convenient place for us to meet up and return it . so not having set any scores earlier today and with the clock ticking, i left that evening with the massive controller in hand to make my delivery and to stop by for a bit of gaming while i was at it.

in what can only be described as a sideplot to this saga, i received some messages from another rhythm gaming friend showing a new song being added to StepManiaX that i might've been interested in . what song was this, exactly? oh, i don't know, something like RUNNING IN THE 90'S!!!! its first appearance in a rhythm game, and it was one available at the very same arcade i was planning to visit!!! so even though returning the controller was already mandatory, this only fueled my excitement to finally arrive and have some time to myself... and without further hesitation, i hopped on to that cab and scrolled over to where i managed to find the beautiful, magnificent, Running in the 90's in the FLESH (well, it was technically a 2023 remix/remaster of the song, but it sounded just like i expected it to sound, so i can't even be disappointed about the remix...) . having no interest in being sidetracked and having all my attention focused on the song, i spent this entire credit just playing all the hardest difficulties of this song on each control type, from the FULL+ 24 to the WILD 23 to the DUAL+ 22, claiming the store record of each of them as no one else had hopped on to experience this beautiful phenomenon!!! such fun charts too, like the Wild and Dual are decent but the Full+ chart is INCREDIBLE . it REALLY makes you feel like you're Running in the 90's .

but alas!!! SMX wasn't the only one getting new banger licenses recently... for while SMX was my biggest gaming motivator for this session, I was also super interested in playing Donut Hole 2024 on IIDX!!! added just last week, i needed to warm up a bit before i could hop into the SPA-10, and i managed to sneak away with HCs on New Decade IIDX Edition [SPH-9] and BIBBIDEBA [SPA-10] before i gave the song a try... and instantly got an HC on it too!!! in all fairness, i saw previews of the chart and it didn't look all that bad at all, so i was fairly confident in doing the chart... but i guess i wasn't confident enough or something??? that's a surprisingly high score for a first-try 10 for me, after all... so after a brief NC on Bling-Bang-Bang-Born [SPA-10], i ran it back with an EX-Hard gauge and got my first ever EXHC on a 10 out of Donut Hole 2024 [SPA-10]??? who knows... maybe i could even FC it??? eghhhh i doubt it, but it's fun to think about w . wasn't even that impressive relative to the session because after that score, i got my FIRST (easy) CLEAR on Bahram Attack -Nekomata Master Remix- [SPA-10] !!!!!!!! "but you got AAA- despite being your first play, why didn't you normal clear i-" BECAUSE THE ENDING IS HARD AS SHIT!!! ...though given the gauge, maybe an HC would be easier to get than an NC in all honesty...

now for the DDR scores!!! they're brief, there's not much to write about, but they're REAL good scores if i don't say so myself... like this incredible 29p PFC on Plan 8 [ESP-14], first try of the day, as 14 PFC #20, as well as FINALLY getting Yet Another first try of the day PFC on Ichizu [ESP-15] as 15 PFC #16!!! i would've loved to get more PFCs this session, but i was continually sabotaged by the poor state of the pads constantly giving me goods and ruining my plays for reasons out of my control (which is why i switched sides for the Ichizu PFC in the first place)... alas, maybe next time it'll be a bit better . i'm at least happy with having witnessed the beautiful update that is MVs finally being fullscreen again!!!!!

and for the last score of the day? a sick ass play in world mode, where after several attempts since my 1 miss on the chart... i finally closed out that PM on Ikazuchi (FTR-10, MAX-39) as FTR PM #224!!!!
