delivery boy kaps, reporting in on his first notable delivery!!! today, i had a quest to go to round 1 and deliver some packages to some of my friends that otherwise couldn't receive packages at their houses. my bag was super heavy when i set off on my way to round 1, but i treated it as a slight training weight for round 1 preparations... and it maybe seemed like the sdvx scores below agreed with me? i don't personally think i got anything too notable, but i got a ton of cool VF raises despite my warm-up attempts (spent mostly against my friend and his friend www) . maybe i should've come back to it later when i was already warmed up...

only played a single set of ddr today, but i got this sweet flare IX clear on Night of Knights (CSP-16), and a 2g GFC at that (almost a PFC somehow!!!) . still need to work on that MA though, maybe when I'm warmed up a teensy bit more .

goooood morning everyone!!! make sure to start your day off with a nice little run of CHAOS FTR-10+!!!

...not a great way to start the morning for most people, but i actually had a very good reason for doing this!!! that's because... today was my very special n very awesome ARCADE DAY!!! i was going to the arcade finally!!! and as such, i needed to make sure i was in the proper headspace and condition (chaotic condition btw) to make this the best session i could...

admittedly, i kinda maybe had to pick up a red bull before playing because i was feeling a little sloppy sleep-wise, but it all paid off when i got there because By Golly!!! these were only warmup scores and i wasn't really expecting to get much out of them, but i ended up pulling out some insane stuff from this warmup...??? started off with an insane 29p upscore on Scarlet Police on Ghetto Patrol (ESP-15), followed by a sightread 14 PFC on Sweetin' Fruity (ESP-14, 36p), but best of all: a sightread 15 PFC on Odore!! Virtual Animal!! (ESP-15, 41p) as my very first sightread 15 PFC and 15 PFC #9??? gotta get roppongi A as my 10th... it'll happen soon... ohyeah also an AAA GFC on POSSESSION ESP-17!!! i could probably clear this one with Flare EX actually, just gotta reduce my perfects by a little...

yet somehow, these absolutely Insane scores weren't even the highlight of the whole session. while they were greatly cool and appreciated, i had actually come with a certain goal in mind and a certain desire to accomplish it and prove my worth. and the result of this very goal lies in this next, upcoming, insane score i'm about to show off... those around me have pushed for me to finally take the next step in level PFCs and claim a 16 once and for all, but i've always felt too nervous to take that step and claim it...

that, however, was all about to change with this new score. after several attempts, going from a 930k to an AAA in the tiny span of DDR WORLD's release, i thought i was finally ready to prove my worth by getting this one... and GET IT I DID!!!! OUT OF FOCUS (CSP-16) 57P AS LEVEL 16 PFC #1!!!! ALL PERFECT AND ABOVE ON A 16.65 IN THE 3ICECREAM DIFFICULTY SCALE!!! IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED AND ON SUCH A WACKY CHART TOO BUT I DID IT AND I'M SO HAPPY DSLKJFLSDJFLKDSJFLDSJF;LSDJ

...whew, okay, but i still had a bunch of credits left over and a bunch of time to keep gaming and rolling for some really good scores!!! and so i did!!! got a sick 4g GFC on POSSESSION (ESP-17, could maybe get a Flare EX clear on this?), some silly 13 attempts, a PFC on Top The Charts (CSP-14, 40p), and a flare EX clear on Somehow You Found Me (CSP-16)!!!

also got some sick awesome upscores on SDVX including this MASSIVE near-S on ouroboros [EXH 16], followed up by three new 17 excessive clears on Bokura no 16bit Warz [MXM 17 969], BLAZE BREEZE [MXM 17 969], and Poppin' Candy Fever!! [MXM 17 971]!!!!

June 28th, 2024 (1/2) - Arcaea, EZ2ON, SDVX EG, DDR WORLD, IIDX 31

so many scores to share today, i doubt i can fit them all in a single post, so i'll see how many i can fit in here before i potentially make a second post!! guess i'll get the arcaea scores out of the way first of all... NULCTRL (FTR-9, MAX-38), Raven's Pride (FTR-9, MAX-24), and Glow (FTR-9, MAX-38) as FTR PMs #126, #127, and #128 respectively, as well as an EX on Distorted Fate [ETR-10+]!!! (today was not a very good shiny pure acc day...)

also kinda felt in the mood and warmed up with a bunch of EZ2ON scores, with a few very swag highlights including Changa 2 (5S SHD 13) No Miss, Sand Storm (6S HD 14) All Cool, RAV#GIRL (6S HD 15) S+ and (4S SHD 17) All Cool, and a tragic Chobit Flavor (4S SHD 18) 1 good...

but now, it's actually arcade day arcade time!!! and we're kicking it off with some song suggestions as sdvx warmups for the day!!! though i'm feeling kinda anemic... agh...

back with DDR!!! I LOVE MYUKKE!!!! got a GFC AAA on doubles and a PFC on singles for The 88's Instigation!!!!!!

went to eat something since i was feeling super tired and out of it, then came back and hopped on iidx to do some more song suggestions... ones which i really kinda sucked at!!! maybe i'm just completely out of it today... sigh...

went back to ddr to do even more song suggestions and to see if i had gotten any better somehow, and surprisingly? i think i did!!! look ma, i'm gaming!!!

June 18th, 2024 - Arcaea, Rotaeno, DDR WORLD

The Chronicles of PMs continues!!! Starting with Silent Rush (FTR-8, MAX-28) and Cosmica (FTR-8+, MAX-10) as FTR PMs #87 and #88 respectively, clearing out what I can of the Binary Enfold folder!!!!

following it up with this pretty cool Rotaeno sightread... very cool...

and then following THAT up with ANOTHER upscore on Singularity VVVIP, this time a 2-2 score!!! then also a very intentional 1-1 on Feels So Right for a challenge, and then my very first clear on PRAGMATISM -RESURRECTION- (BYD-11) as part of another challenge!!!

funny story, i actually got that PragRes clear on a bus with barely any audio! why was i on a bus, you ask? well, because i was heading to Round 1 to play me some DDR World!!! and i've got ALL the banger scores to show for it!!! warmed up with a very nice and cool set (lie) (it was all 15s+) (why did i do this to myself), and then immediately followed it up with the JUN SET JUN SET JUN SET FULL OF BANGERS (HAPPY ANGEL CSP-16, SILVER DREAM ESP-15, KIMONO PRINCESS ESP-15, and SUPER SAMURAI ESP-15), all AAA'd and Flare EX clears!!! (except HAPPY ANGEL for obvious reasons)

kept playing and gaming for a little while after that, getting a sick Flare IX clear on Eon Break ESP-16 and Lose Your Sense ESP-17 (which, really funny story: i tried doing the Akuma from Streets pose at the ending hold and ended up dropping the hold, but still keeping alive with the gauge . i thought it wouldn't hurt much, but turns out it was THAT HOLD SPECIFICALLY that prevented me from getting an AAA!!! why did i do that?!?!?! whyyy?!?!?!?!?)

after that though, my skill kinda started waning and i shifted from grinding singles to doubles, got a Flare VII clear on Yoidore Shirazu EDP-13, and then switched back to singles so i could play against a local friend to get a Flare EX on Nanahoshi ESP-15 and Flare VI on AETHER ESP-17!!!

realistically though, i couldn't really keep up with the game anymore and started feeling a little disappointed in my skill, so i packed it up and went home, stopping by boba on the way where i caught up on my rotaeno/arcaea stamina stuff :] (even got this sweet upscore on Swirling Blue while i was at it! AP soon?)

okay okay wait, i need to switch over to talking about arcaea quickly because this new score i got is INSANE. so i kinda really suck at beyond charts even at their lowest (level 9), which is why i was super surprised when i played Infinity Heaven (BYD-9) on the bus, barely any audio, and suddenly got... a PURE MEMORY??? MAX-34??? BYD PM #2???? LSDJFLSDJLFKDJESLKFJ

then of course, to cap off the day and use up all my Arcaea world mode stamina, a bunch of new PMs!!! Blocked Library (FTR-9, MAX-23), blue comet (FTR-8, MAX-2????), Prism (FTR-8, MAX-24), Eccentric Tale (FTR-8, MAX-19), and a slight +4 upscore on 1F√ (FTR-8, MAX-9) as FTR PMs #89, #90, #91, and #92 (barring 1F√ since i already had it) respectively!!!

and of course, to top it all off, i got a 970 on Tempestissimo BYD-11!!!! +0.01 PTT!!! woo yeah babey!!!

June 16th, 2024 - Arcaea, DDR WORLD

fun time's over... it's back to work for lil ol' me now... but before that can happen, i'm making the most of it with some early morning arcaea scores... like this 996 upscore on Singularity VVVIP!!! followed by this 994 EX+ on Ego Eimi!!! both increasing my potential ever so slightly up to 12.34!!! graahhHH!!!!!

work took a REAL long while (9 hours) but once that was finished and seeing that no buses were passing for the next hour, i went to round 1 for a single set of ddr and got some nice new Flare EX clears on Don't Stop The HYPERCORE and DOUBLE TORNARD!! both are absolute bangers and charts i absolutely want to PFC in the near future...

then, just when i thought my session couldn't get any better and while i was waiting to take a post-work shower... i got THIS on Rise of the World??? A 997 2-2 massive upscore??? what the fuck???????? i'm in shock, this is prob one of my most impressive scores in the game given how Technical and Hellish this chart is... full recall soon?

June 11th, 2024 - Arcaea, DDR A3, vivid/stasis

finals day.,.. oughhhhhh (but it okay !!! because i PASSED BOTH OF THEM GRAHHHHH I'M SET TO GRADUATE NOW!!!!)

to celebrate: i tried grinding world mode with Maya and got World Vanquisher as my random selection (but i got +0.01 potential as a result!!! we back in here yo!!!)

oh yeah, but (second) most importantly (you'll see why after this score), today was DDR WORLD RELEASE DAY!!! RIGHT AFTER ALL MY FINALS!!! so after recovering quickly at home from chugging a 16oz can of Red Bull, i headed off to Round 1 to await the Grand Release!!!

...it sadly didn't happen at the scheduled time, so i waited a little more and... nothing . i played a few sets on my own to give A3 a final farewell, but the release wouldn't come until the dead of night when i had ALREADY left back home . curses...

buuuut fortunately to make up for it, VIVID/STASIS WORLDCROSS PLAY CAME OUT!!! AND I WAS SUPER READY TO PLAY IT FIRST!!! while waiting for a lobby, i also AC'ed the new Credits [Encore 13+] chart!!! AND i MAXED WATAGASHI RUSH [FINALE 12] !!!! WE ARE SO BACK CHAT

finally got in a lobby and due to my low progress, i couldn't play a lot of the songs, but i DID play Peak Chart Peak Song as my very first world cross play... amazing

April 25th, 2024 - PIU 2023 PHOENIX, IIDX 31, DDR A3, CHUNITHM PARALOST

after all my hard and awesome and super cool work and effort these past few days, it's time to reward myself on the one day i don't have to go to class... with an ARCADE DAY!!!! been really looking forward to this day to finally grind out my favorite arcade rhythm games, though i almost ended up cancelling my plans due to the rain and none of my family being willing to take me there... but thanks to me accidentally making my mom scold my sister, she took me there and i had the time of my LIFE!!!

struggling to figure out what i wanted to try first, i decided i wanted to grind out some PIU and hopefully regain my Intermediate Lv.10 title that i lost in the switch from XX to Phoenix. i tried looking up the requirements for the title on the website, but they're measured by this weird points/rating system for individual levels that i genuinely can't figure out?? ah well, no matter. if i play enough of the specified level, maybe i'll reach that point threshold soon enough! and so i did... very exhausting...

got tired pretty quickly and failed out of a D19 (MATADOR) at the very last hold, so i moved on to IIDX to get a bit of practice in for my hands while i waited for maya to come online and give me my new list of charts to clear!! first set went alright, i guess, and i even finally unlocked camellia's beach side bunny remix!!

while i waited, i switched over to some DDR and tried regaining my 14 clear lamp, which went alright! i got the clears, but i also got green FCs with them... more preemptive progress for my future goal of getting the 14 green lamp someday... (ohyeah also, kilonova ESP-17 extra stage clear!! exhausting but really fun chart...)

found a free credit in the chunithm cab and eated it (hoping to get the elusive SS rank on Shukusei Shinpan...) only to FAIL AGAIN AUGHHH JUST GIVE ME THE DAMN ONE MIL (ah well, at least i still have until i get onto my card again :]

moved back to DDR to try reclaiming my 15 clear lamp this time, but then i decided to give Ichizu a few tries when all of a sudden... i got THIS.

A BLACK FLAG. ON ICHIZU. AN EVIL AND BRUTAL 15 WITH A BAJILLION 16THS. AUGHHH AND IT WAS A RANDOM CHOKE IN THE FIRST 30 NOTES AS WELLLLL

i tried running it back several times (at least 10 times) in hopes of somehow getting the PFC on another try since i was so close, but it simply wasn't meant to be... i got some really good PFCs up to 300 combo twice, but the fatigue started kicking in and i couldn't play for much longer as i was starting to suffer from a massive headache...

i DID see a friend later that day who tried cheering me on through my failed attempts, so we played a fun set before i finished for the day where i nabbed some pretty good scores that i didn't think i could do!! (melody H4CKER is such a banger song oh my fucking god)

maya finally came online and gave me a list of 10s to try during my set, so i did just that and tried playing with a massive headache going on... big mistake. didn't clear any new 10s and only got AAs on some other charts before i decided that was enough gaming for today and went home... (that HARD BRAIN was cracked AF tho)

March 31st, 2024 - ProSeka, Arcaea, TAKUMI Cubic, maimai BUDDiES, DDR A20 PLUS

alas, as they all say, all good things must come to an end. as much as i've enjoyed the con so much and all my time here, it was almost time to go. what i enjoyed here would be the last i enjoyed, as we all prepared to bid our farewells to the event by its end time at 5 PM PDT. but first, a word from my arcaea and proseka scores from yesterday that i couldn't fit into this post due to hitting the 30 image limit in tumblr posts!! they're nothing special, really, but i wouldn't be keeping in spirit of the account if i didn't include them. so here, a quick expert 26 AP and a Rise of the World FTR-10 EX!

alright, now back to the con. i mostly stuck with my friends as we got there before the artist valley opened somehow, and we hung around that area until they had to go get some things signed by their favorite VAs. while we were waiting for the doors to open, i checked out takumi cubic for their april fools joke of the year and got my friend to hold my phone while i played one of the chart lab charts (the one for freedom dive where it's just the insanity chart but all trace notes). sadly though, his holding SUCKED and i ended up getting two misses even though i should've gotten NONE!!!

meanwhile, being abandoned and left to roam the arch building on my own, i got the thought: since all the rhythm game tourneys were over now, wouldn't maimai finally be free from that huge crowd? sure enough, once i got up to the right level and up to the cabs, the next spot in line was free! (save for one single person waiting, who i could partner up with to get an extra song anyways). i logged in to the cab for the second time ever, nodded to my play partner (who was logging in for the first time and suffering all the new content notifications) and got warmed up for the maimai experience:tm: which was INSANELY FUN!!! god i wish i had maimai access anywhere near me . alas, we can't have good things (or at least Every good thing)

finished with that, i try and track down my friends who finally got their autographs and wanted to play DDR in the moment. i was down to play DDR EXTREME PRO, which i haven't even experienced properly before, but they wanted to play DDR A20 PLUS there which was fine anyways. i let them play first since i was moreso interested in playing at round 1 by myself, but i gave in to the temptation and played some sets with each one (except my friend's sister) and fucking DESTROYED them oh my GOD . here's a snapshot of some of the scores, i have a video of me playing tiger rampage CSP-17 (in cosplay of course) but i still have to get it from my friend who recorded . nevertheless, here's the goodies! (there's some other scores i took pictures of that were sweet accomplishments from my friends, but i won't share them here for obvious reasons. anything AA or above is my side)

after that, we transferred over to the summit building and walked around some of the stalls before we bid farewell to the con, as it was closing 45 minutes after a reservation we had at the cheesecake factory. it was bittersweet, even if i wasn't at my most hype at first, and i'll very dearly miss it. but while we were waiting for our food at the cheesecake factory, i played last year's april fools chart for renda joceky for shits and giggles!! (it went horribly)

after eating, we went back home via the link trains and said our farewells at each house as this unforgettable experience came to a close. i'll miss it... but now that i was home, i could enjoy the all-new april fools charts guilt-free!!! (just arcaea's prank) (i didn't have enough progress in any other rhythm games on this phone)

and so, the extra-long post saga comes to an end. unless i attend some other event with a lot to talk about, i'll keep the rest of these posts short as i want to conserve both my time and sanity for actual important stuff like homework instead of writing summaries of my rhythm game scores that no one really reads. man . 'til next time though!

February 3rd, 2024 - DDR A3

goood morning... still recovering from the v/s tourney burnout from yesterday (and not being able to sleep thanks to both something in my right eye and also obair-ghreis playing in my head), but no time for that... since today, there was a DDR tourney at Round 1 SCM: Chaos in Seattle! i was def feeling in a competitive mood, so i got on my MOTL5 jersey and rode there with my sister to compete.

the tournament had a gauntlet format where everyone played the same two songs each round, and the EX score was tallied from the last four songs played (both the current and previous rounds) to then determine a cutoff line depending on the amount of players. because of four songs being required though, the first (and easiest) round had no eliminated players, meaning i was guaranteed four songs! but before that (and since no one wanted to play on the J-cab with the broken left pad), i practiced a bit with a local there and leeched off their touhou songs to sightread them on the spot. i noticed my MA kinda sucked, but i was holding really good gold combos the whole way through!

now for the actual rounds though! first round had an 11 and a 13, of which i PFC'ed both! however, despite the PFCs, the MA was subpar and i only found out when i went to go write my scores down and saw that everyone had Way better scores than me. undeterred, i still hoped that my scores in the next round would propel me up... which, unfortunately, they didn't. when i got the score photos and went to write them down, they were still lower than the same people and kept me at the same, undesired spot. i knew it was undesired because the TO, Selzla, read out the names of people who'd move on to the next round. surprise surprise, unfortunately, i didn't make the cut of 12 people who moved on and 8 people who stayed behind...

y'know, even as much as it shouldn't have gotten me down for just being less skilled (haha skill issue), it kinda did get to me. this was the second tournament back-to-back i was playing, and in both i got eliminated at the earliest possible time. of course the competition was fierce for both, but only achieving the bare minimum felt super disappointing to me. on the way home after leaving early from demotivation, i kept thinking of how i could've maybe done better and how dissatisfied i was that my tourney level still wasn't were i wanted it to be. but as i got rid of those negative thoughts, i started looking higher and more hopeful towards what i could maybe do given more time to train and more energy put into the training. maybe someday i'll make it through that cutoff line and more! but for now, i need to study more...

December 31st, 2023 - IIDX 31, DDR A3, Arcaea, PIU 2023 PHOENIX, ProSeka

NOW IT'S THE REAL GRAND FINALE!!! And what better way to celebrate than getting permission to pay Round 1 a lil visit?? (Granted at the cost of paying breakfast at my workplace for my whole family during one of their busiest days, i still feel so bad...)

since i had just eaten a chocolate croissant and 1 (one) pancake, i started off slow and warmed up with my favorite game to play on a full stomach (not really): IIDX EPOLIIIIIIIIIIIIIISS (dan dan dada daan dan dada daan dan dada daan dan dan dan)

stiiiill doing the usual of practicing with RANDOM, but getting more comfortable with using hard gauge! only problem? i forgot premium time (and lost two credits to it)

meh, i'll do better next year (i think)

now, this part was the biggest part and the greatest change of plans i've probably had. originally, since the cab was empty, i was gonna go play sdvx to continue warming up and since i didn't wanna throw up my breakfast still. but then i decided, "yea, i feel fine enough. to the ddr cabs! (also i have sumidagawa karenka stuck in my head please help)"

and what i found at the cabs as a result was... a new year's eve tourney i had no idea about!! hosted by the one and only hambones!!! and (almost) EVERYONE was there to game!!!! sign ups were still open, and a friend from there was Really pushing me to sign up, so i signed up and did a warm up set at first before moving on to the qualifiers!

set A of the qualifiers consisted of Dancer in the flare ESP-13 (DDR A, banger), Like A Star ESP-14 (DDR A3, way harder than i thought it'd be), and Electronic Dance System Music (DDR A, i set my scroll speed too low). Once I did it, it was... very dissatisfying. I could've had better MA, but I struggled finding the timing window and had poor EX score overall.

set B though? KILLED IT. it consisted of Going Hypersonic ESP-15 (DDR A20, very technical rhythms), Black Jackal ESP-15 (DDR A20, more of an MA challenge), and Firestorm CSP-16 (DDR A20, chart added in A20 PLUS, hope you like shocks!), and since I'm a huge fan of uppers charts, I had a blast putting on a show for everyone waiting to get the tourney on (since i was the last one to arrive and last one to finish my qualifiers). Got an AAA on Going Hypersonic and 2g on Black Jackal, and also a really neat upscore on Firestorm!!!

when all was said and done and the tourney scores were tallied, i ended up 5th place overall; barely falling short of the top 4 that would play a new set of two 16s and a 17 that were all really fun... but i was pretty satisfied with my score regardless!!! while i waited for the tourney to end and the results to be announced, i remembered arcaea was having their new year's 100 memories promotions, i finally claimed it for the first since since i downloaded the app 5 years ago!!! ...only to find out that the memories expired 2 days after claiming them (literally Why)

as soon as i got them, though, i Instantly knew what i wanted to buy. that's right. OVERDRIVE!!!! played it three times while everyone else was playing: first attempt was a 69% gauge fail, second attempt was an almost-AA 9.49M, and third attempt was a sick 9.63M jump!!! def worth the impulse purchase

anyways, back to the tournament: after everyone played the three songs, the scores were tallied once more and the victors were called up one by one to claim their prizes. after the top 4 were announced (ambones obvs being 1st), the Hambones Award for Rising Star of the Tournament was announced; pulling ahead by 1 singular vote, it was... ME!!!! 2DKAPS DDR RISING STAR!!!! i was so happy to receive it, and even happier (sorry) when i saw the prizes, which were INSANELY COOL!!! a MAX 300 badge, a Valkyrie Bloom sticker, and some sick shades!!! (and $6 too somehow LOL)

as much as you'd wanna think this post is over now with everything i had written before, NOPE!!! the tournament may have ended already, but i STILL had time to play some extra sets before leaving!! (gotta make up for missing that banger tourney set)

also holy shit tumblr is lagging because of the sheer length of this post LMFAO so we gotta be QUICK!! ROLL IN THE BANGERS!!!

November 15th, 2023 - DDR A3

good news this week: after stress over last week and this week (which was the reason for the major rhythm game score drought), i FINALLY finished and submitted my dream college application!!! the answer to whether i get in or not is still 4 months away, soooo i'm still a little worried. alas...

bad news: i had a Really Shitty series of unfortunate events that got in the way of having a nice fun enjoyable time the following day, including but not limited to: waking up at 4 am to finish and submit the application, having classes including my total fitness class (yucky), not having showered for 4 days straight (i'm sorry i'm sorry i took a shower afterwards), stepping in dog shit with my dance game shoes while taking the dog out and having to clean them, then stepping in gum on the bus after i had ALREADY cleaned the same shoe. aaaand that all culminated into, well, this singular score i got before losing my sense of timing and leaving early. i'll get them next time, just... really unfortunate set of circumstances.

October 20th, 2023 - SDVX EG, Groove Coaster, Project DIVA, DANCE aROUND, PIU PHOENIX, DDR A3

THE TRUE DAY OF RECKONING HAS ARRIVED, NOW IT'S REALLY TIME FOR MOTL5 GAMING!!! but first, isn't this card the absolute coolest??? i got it while checking into the event, slapped a crude drawing of my fursona onto it, and now i'm geared up n ready to destroy!!!

so i went to waffle house for the very first time with my family to eat breakfast (very good experience btw, i already miss the chocolate waffles), then we set off to spend the whole day at the mall and GUESS WHO I FOUND FIRST THING IN THE MORNING

IT'S BOMBER IN REAL!!! IN THE FLESH!!! WITH HIS ICONIC LACH TOWEL!!! AND HE KICKED MY ASS AT SDVX!!! (but he gave me haruka e-amuse pass to compensate :])

always wanted to meet him in person and the dream had become REAL, SUPER COOL EXPERIENCE!!!

also random tangent but while we were playing sdvx, it turned out the PIU Phoenix kit was installed overnight and was being played while we were playing?? just last night it was XX... but i guess now i'd finally get a taste of the new system for the first time!

since all the dance game cabs (except DaR) were occupied for tourneys, i decided to warm up with the alternative... the busted old unused cabs! gc is so broken whyyy

but now, after all those exhilarating meetings and fun times, it's time for the real deal, my personal action moment of the event... it was TOURNEY TIME!! STARTING WITH PIU PHOENIX!!! warmups were simple, trying out the new songs and getting used to the pads,

but then, it was the real deal vs MajinnTy in a waterfall-style bracket... and after almost getting wrecked with the top-right arrow dropping continuously... i managed to beat him 2-1 and took 2nd place in the pool!!! but since it's waterfall format (i didn't realize this until later), i got thrown into the redemption pool with everyone else and wouldn't get to play until later... but in retrospect that was STILL such an impressive victory.

so once the redemption pool started, i got put up against EMCAT, who had been slowly upgrading from level 2 up to here. it was a weird match, but i hypothetically managed to 2-0 in my set, getting this sick 985k on beat of the war! but once again, it wasn't enough to beat the acc gods in the pool, PacRob and Ty, and i ended up 3rd out of 6 in the bracket, which left me a little dejected to see i wouldn't have my dark horse moment in my first tourney... but in retrospect i worked against the odds and managed to do really well!!! such a nice showing personally, and i'm excited to train some more and try again some other time! (also the 2nd image is from the commentary that my friend watched when i was up which is why i mentioned the dark horse moment, forever alone...)

but NOW!!! IT WAS TIME FOR THE 2ND AND LAST TOURNEY OF MINE FOR THE NIGHT, THE ONE THAT WOULD SEAL MY POTENTIAL OVERALL LEGACY, THE DDR A3 TOURNAMENT!!! unlike the previous PIU tourney, this was a round robin format where all 4 players got to play against each other once in a best-of-three set. and after a set between two others in my pool, i was up for some back-to-back sets, starting with LUBANAHHHH

having warmed up already with pump, i decided to pick long train runnin' challenge for my warmup to confuse the commentators, but then the REAL action began. our first song was lubanah's pick, New York Evolved (Type A) DSP-13 (fucked up), which i dominated solely thanks to MA! and then when it was my pick, i PFC'ed Yoidore Shirazu ESP-13 on-stream once again, taking the set 2-0!!

next up was against KINDLADY/Zaphine, where we both went in without warmup and played Xepher CSP-15 (Zaphine's pick) and Mess With My Emotions ESP-12 (my pick), and i took the set 2-0 again!! except with such a close call on Mess With My Emotions...

and finally in my pool, i played against MisterGuy in both Step Machine ESP-14 (my pick) and Healing Vision (Angelic Mix) ESP-13 (MisterGuy's pick), where i would just barely win Step Machine by 2 points (even got clipped on the Ohio DDR channel), and then PFC Healing Vision to claim my 2nd in-tourney PFC, taking the set once again 2-0 and advancing to level 9 with a perfect performance!!!

level 9 came and i was put up against SnowStorm/SIM, thejurok, and gabbyjay, which would be where my demise would come... only before a bunch of cab crashes! no scores for most of these unfortunately, but i was bested 0-2 by SnowStorm on Revolutionary Addict ESP-13 and PARANOiA Revolution DSP-14 (my MA wasn't quite up to par on either songs, probably exhaustion from only eating before my pump tourney...)

for my set against jurok though, i won my first pick; roppongi EVOLVED Ver.D ESP-15, even despite forgetting to disable my sudden+ before the speedup!!! i forgot what his pick was, but i lost it and lost the tiebreaker too, MAX 300 DSP-12, in order to lose the set 1-2...

then lastly, the final and most ultimate set... the one against longtime Black Flag Academy admin and potential rival, GABBYJAY!!! this set was super funny because we both won each other's picks (he won Bang Pad(Werk Mix) ESP-13, i won osaka EVOLVED (TYPE1) DSP-13), and for the tiebreaker we got New Gravity CSP-14...

and after such an intense battle not shown on stream due to the sheer intensity and vulgarity (actually the stream was what was causing the cab to crash repeatedly), we finished the song and looked at each others' scores to see the results, and...

...by two points. i got a PFC up from a 988k, on-stream, not having seen the chart before, and yet i fell short by such a tight margin, losing the set once again 1-2...

but overall, super satisfying performance from both ends (and super funny reaction)!!! i loved this experience even if i didn't advance twice (which is fine, level 9 was more of a victory lap anyways LOL i was just a silly little teen playing against intimidating adults). but that did indeed conclude my tournament run at the mistaketh on the laketh, so until next time! thanks all who tuned in and cheered me on in chat, the support was so nice to read back at the hotel! but there's still 2 more days of the event to enjoy, so let's enjoy 'em!

March 21st, 2025 - Ensemble Stars!!, SDVX EG, DDR WORLD, Arcaea, IIDX 32, DANCERUSH STARDOM, StepManiaX

WOOOHOOOO THAT'SA LOTTA GAMES!!!! but don't be fooled by the header!!! as much as it seems like a massive standalone arcade gaming session, it's actually just a hangout with my friends at the mall that involved a "few" rhythm games!!! it was our first hangout as a group (+1 additional member) in a year, so i was super ecstatic for the day to arrive... so excited that i installed and played enstars all night in preparation for the big day!!! and since i got the JP version, i finally got to play the single best chart in the game that i've been wanting to try for ages... Eccentric Party Night!! [Special Lv.5]!!!

but today... today was FINALLY the day!!! i got up, cleaned up myself and my room, took a shower to #FreshenUp, packed my gaming stuff, and headed over to the Pick-up Location to arrive with friends at the destination... and right off the bat it was HYPE!!! didn't get any photos from DDR as i was suffering a Lent debuff, but i somehow scrounged up enough energy to kill it in SDVX, where i celebrated my good awesome friend RDBomber's birthday by getting an AAA and HC on Lachryma [EXH-18]!!!

now that my morning fasting for lent was up, we went to go grab a boba treat to re-energize ourselves and wander around the mall for a bit. but it wasn't very long until we came back to round 1 and continued gaming... this time with me getting some decent scores on DDR and SDVX!!! graghjhhh that Sakazuki [ESP-16] could've been a PFC if i didn't choke at the start

played some arcaea for challenges while waiting to get something to """eat""" (i ended up eating Nothing), but i didn't get anything notable other than a bit more consistency on Vulcanus [FTR-10+]

once my friends finished eating however, we scoured a few stores and walked around to cool down from the arcade overstimulation before heading back to round 1 for the last time . and an epic return at that, because we had a ton of fun playing IIDX (mostly just them watching me LOL) and doing dance trains on Dancerush!!!

but for the actual final rhythm gaming of the session... it's the return of a sorely missed and super fun game, one I've def wanted to play a lot more... STEPMANIAX!!! haven't tried this game seriously in quite a while, but i wasn't really in the mood for DDR and we were waiting for our ride back home near the DRS cabs, so i decided to hop on...! and IMMEDIATELY i started kicking ass again, finally getting my first clear on Pink Fuzzy Bunnies [WILD 25] as Lv.25 Clear #3 and then upscoring it from 89k -> 90k shortly after!! but it doesn't stop at singles, as i tried out FULL again too to take some machine records (mainly just Energizer [FULL 23] 87k) and get Lv.25 Clear #4 on Bloodrush [FULL 25]!!!

MAN that was a fun hangout, and i'm super grateful for my friends and the spirit they brought to the hangout even after a year!! i admittedly wasn't really in the groove as i was starving for most of the day, but i still enjoyed myself regardless and made sure they knew that after we arrived home and returned for now to our silly little online games :] i wish i could've played other games more too, but i was being rather frugal and didn't wanna spend any money that i knew i didn't have to use, so unfortunately not much arcade RGs on my own :[ hopefully i can scrounge up enough to come back for another banger session sometime soon...!

March 9th, 2025 - DDR WORLD

okay okay, today was the day!!! i was gonna go to round 1, i was gonna get the best scores possible for the tournament, and i was gonna move onto the final round and claim victory against all my opponents!!! it was a flawless plan, right? WRONG!!! i was doing homework practically all day to save myself from the stress while playing, but the more i got through... the later and hungrier i was!!! when the time where i should've been at round 1 came, i was instead picking up some pizza while walking that took me an hour of both homework and dance gaming time.

but eventually after finishing my most time-sensitive assignments of the day, i was LATE!!! i ran out of the house to the bus and waited for it, but just when it stopped by... it went off!!! without me!!! not a single care in the world!!! hate it here... so i spent another whole half-hour in the rain waiting for the next stop, and i'm heavily convinced it got me super sick the next day (ergo, as i'm writing this)... but i got there, washed my throat down with some water, put away my umbrella, and entered ready to set some banger scores and get outta there as soon as possible...

but to my horror, it was FULL . there were too many damn people, and all of them were waiting their turn on the cab!!! it was all people i recognized, sure, but they were In My Way and i realistically wouldn't be able to set any good scores in their presence . alas, i had no choice but to give up for the day... until i saw a really good friend of mine that i hadn't seen since college!!! one that was just as passionate about rhythm and fighting games as i was!!! we greeted each other with a big hug and caught up with each other on our interests and improvements over the past... year??? damn, so it really has been that long... but it was nice and awesome, i'm super glad to have stuck around enough to greet her before i left :] we left alongside her group for the day, me being convinced i wouldn't have gotten any good submissions for the tournament, and despite not achieving what i came here to do... i still left happy and eager!!!

ohyeah, there was a single notable score today though!!! didn't write all that for nothin' after all :] a sweet sweet 46p PFC on Mesmerizer [ESP-15] as 15 PFC #20!!!

February 19th, 2025 - Arcaea, Music Diver, IIDX 32, DDR WORLD

a few more challenges out of the way, an atrocious re-PM on Altair out of it... ueeeee

but not to worry!!! the REAL showing here is not your ordinary little one-and-done arcaea score, but rather... a sudden quick(?) trip to round 1 for the day!!! and we're starting it off with... MUSIC DIVER!!! really it was just a free credit i found while waiting for someone to fix the audio-less IIDX cab i wanted to play, but i got some more practice in and even reached 14k rating via upscores and new songs!!!

but now at last, the iidx cab was fixed and i was able to play once again, so i hopped on and started ripping it with some nice scores!!! only three scores, sure, but that's because i was using these sets to prepare for my real target goal this afternoon, and that involved grinding lower bpm charts to improve my timing and get ready for scoring on the evil DDR charts that were to come...

so here it is, DDR!!! this weekend was the deadline for submitting my scores to the Solstice Arena ODYSSEY remote tourney, and i wanted to get the best scores i could while not dedicating too much time to replay after replay (mostly as i wanted to get back to schoolwork ASAP) . initially, it seemed like the iidx practice paid off -- i got a PFC on Broken (ESP-13, 27p) first try of the day, and followed it up immediately with my first PFC on Easy Peasy (ESP-14, 44p) as 14 PFC #25, which was ALSO first try of the day! but as nice as a PFC was, it wasn't a very good perfect count, so i ran it back with a higher speed now that i knew the chart and, while i got a great that ruined any PFC potential, i walked away with WAY better EX score than my initial PFC -- just what i needed to submit my score and climb up the rankings!!! got a few more random scores, like a Flare EX clear on Sakazuki [ESP-16] and a sightread PFC on Confetti*Concert (ESP-14, 40p) as 14 PFC #26!!!

now onto the next song... Desert Journey [CSP-15]!! i was a bit worried about the former because of its DDR 2013 jank, and jank it had indeed... so many weird patterns, so many fails because of those patterns, i didn't have a pleasant time with the chart at all, but i pulled through as it was required for the tourney and to my absolute shock... i managed to take it down with a 30p PFC as 15 PFC #19!!! somehow!!! despite all the jank and shock arrows!!!

then before i started playing ALGORITHM, i spent the rest of my attempts on Totsugeki! Glass kneesocks princess! [ESP-14] and somehow, on the very first attempt of the day... i FINALLY closed out the PFC on it with a solid 41p as 14 PFC #27!!! the problem! i only took a picture of the outro cutscene... and not, y'know, the results screen with the judgement breakdown . the outro is thankfully enough proof and info on the PFC, but i tried running it back for hopefully better MA and an actual judgement breakdown only to get 7 more perfects,,, but i have the pfc!!! just trust me!!!

but finally, after all that was said and done, it was time for the last titan of the qualifiers... ALGORITHM [CSP-15]!!! this chart was way newer (only a little over a year old) and so i wasn't really worried about the jank, but rather the super slow bpm and massive amounts of crossovers that were evidently some of my biggest weaknesses in the game,,, but whatever, i had to do it anyway!!! and so i suffered through the chart several times, constantly adjusting my speed to figure out what worked and what didn't... but given my grinds on Easy Peasy and Desert Journey, i wasn't really motivated to get a super high score on this one anymore, though i was still proud of my solid 997,900 on it!!! spent the rest just making the most of my credit, working on old scores and extra savior unlocks alike, and the most notable non-qualifier score of the session being this insane 984k on London EVOLVED ver.C [CSP-17] that was oh-so-close to an FC... until the unfortunate ending scoobies sabotaged it . maybe one day i'll actually get it...

back at home, i was determined to keep working on my schoolwork now that i had my ddr tournament worries out of the way, but i also still had that rhythm gaming fire left in me because of the insane scores i claimed earlier... so i decided, why not call back to the first score of the day and play a bit more arcaea? specifically... could i finally take down the PM on init() [FTR-9+] that had haunted me for so long already? i seriously doubted it, but the acid map was ending soon and i didn't have all the maimai cores yet, so i reluctantly grinded as much as i could on the chart with temptai to maximize progress before the end, and miraculously... out of nowhere... it happened!!! i finally did it,,, a PM on init() (FTR-9+, MAX-26) as FTR PM #236, and with my PM on Desive from a few days ago... that was every Ayu original song PM'ed on FTR!!! (oh right, i also did complete the acid map, but only after being forced to use a memory boost with fatalis hikari so i wouldn't have to stay up until 5 am every time my stamina refreshed . terrible, terrible design...

arcaea warmup!!! except there's no upscores lmfao get baited

instead for today, we have iidx!!! originally wasn't planning on doing anything but homework today, but family's working around the house and disconnecting the power and so i was sent off to round 1 to distract myself as i wouldn't be able to work at home for the time being... soooo let's warm up some more with some iidx!!! alas, there really is nothing notable here, besides an NC on Mesmerizer [SPA-11] as 11 NC #1... but that was already a long time coming . i guess the Crank It [SPA-9, RAN] HC is cool? i don't even know man

instead, the REAL action lies in the DDR scores for today!!! got some cool stuff for ya right here, like a 44p PFC on DoLL [CSP-13], first try of the day!!! mostly miscellaneous scores after that, but they're pretty notable!!! such scores include a 981k upscore on DIAVOLO [CSP-18], as well as FCs on Kagachi [ESP-16, 995k], Sakazuki [ESP-16, 993k, sightread!!] and No More Love [ESP-16, 988k]!!!!!!

aaaand last one for the day, it's a GFC on Blizzard of Arrows [CSP-17, 988k] for a friend who couldn't get it, hip hip hooray!!! now if only i could get this one on my account...
