2x16 roadkill is a really compelling shift on how supernatural usually does its narrative. and I don't just mean the shock value, either. as far as filler episodes go, it's one of my favorites. will not be rewatching it again soon though cause ironically ghosts scare the shit outta me

people who have seen a series in full love to pick out a random episode and say "you can watch it on it's own like a short film" and they're literally always lying

I think there’s a pattern of Sam being pretty hard-line on keeping civilians uninvolved, while Dean is comparatively more likely to sympathize with the reasons a person might choose knowingly to put themselves at risk.

it’s time! finally! roadkill! there will be gushing. lots of it.
- watching the episode knowing the ending is very interesting, especially seeing all the little things add up - love the little touch of “some spirits only see what they want” - if we’re going by release time, this episode takes place only a couple of weeks after Born Under a Bad Sign, making sam and molly’s nature-versus-evil conversation even better - “he already knows [that molly loves him and is sorry]” and “hope is kind of the whole point” will forever live in my heart
Roadkill really subverts expectations. Right from the beginning! You see the usual opening and assume the girl is going to die or go missing, but it’s her husband. And I love the build-up for the big reveal about Molly’s husband. This episode is typical until suddenly it’s not, until it shifts the viewer’s perspective entirely. For the first time in spn, the audience is shown a way more than sympathetic view of ghosts.
Easily one of my top ten episodes, even though I don’t talk about it / haven’t watched it that often. (also the house of the rising sun needle drop definitely added to my liking)

roadkill is already a masterclass in editing and building perspective but it’s interesting how different dean is when we see him from molly’s view. he’s more dismissive and irreverent, borderline dickish in how he treats molly and the situation. there’s none of the gruff softness or understanding we usually see from him and it’s bc molly, who is traumatised and pissed, wouldn’t be looking for those things from him bc she finds them in sam who is even more sympathetic than usual. it’s little things that reinforce the fronts they put up but bc that’s all molly knows, we never see past them

i just finished watching 2x16 and this final scene just punched me in the nose. after they've both 'taken the plunge' and have been to heaven and hell and they've met god.... what then???? like i know theres more to it and i'm not good with putting my thoughts into words so i cant make a decent post explaining what this means to me but !!!!!!!!
when hope is out of the equations, whats left?

SAM Um ... Spirits like Greeley are, uh ... like wounded animals. Lost. In so much pain that ... they lash out. MOLLY Why? Why are they here? SAM Well, there's some part of them that... that's keeping them here. Like their remains or, um... unfinished business. MOLLY Unfinished business? SAM Yeah. Uh, it could be revenge. Could be love. Or hate. Whatever it is, they just hold on too tight. Can't let go. So they're trapped. Caught in the same loops. Replaying the same tragedies over and over. MOLLY You sound almost sorry for them. SAM Well, they weren't evil people, you know? A lot of them were good. Just... Something happened to them. Something they couldn't control.

BEST NEEDLE DROP IN SPN
This will probably be our toughest triad of polls KNOWN TO THE SPN FANDOM. (In our humble opinion, at any rate.) Firstly: what is a needle drop? For the purposes of these polls, a needle drop is an instance of music licensing, or music not written for (but brilliantly used in) the show. There were bunches, but we narrowed it down to our top 30, divided at random into groups of 10. The three winners of these polls will then compete for the A-1, first place, bestest needle drop in hit cult series, Supernatural. Hold onto your headphones, fandom, and LET'S GET VOTING!
NOTE: We didn't include 'Carry On Wayward Son', because come on, that just wouldn't be fair. Oh, and we used the original show selections, not whatever transpired via Netflix. Part 2 Part 3
