Is Maglev as important as people make it seem? I live in France and looking at the TGVs it’s plenty fast, or is it just the vastness of the United States that makes it necessary? How much faster is it anyways? The route where I live from Lille to Paris Nord is a total of 251km in 1h05m (232km/h average) while by car it’s 218km / 2h14m in comparison so it doesn’t seem that slow. I also know that there’s a lot of faster routes like LGV Est (which is also where they set the record of 574km/h).
No, Maglevs are a scam

Alstom engineers seemed confident that the test did not subject their train to any extreme conditions. They believed it was possible to exceed 600 km/h, even though reaching that speed would have put the pantograph dangerously close to that of the travelling wave disturbance of the overhead contact line. Should that speed be exceeded, the train would then overtake its own generated wave causing an effect similar to that of an airplane surpassing the speed of sound. The contact regime between the pantograph and the catenary would undergo an abrupt change, which could even lead to de-wiring and the destruction of the whole assembly.
taking the TGV up to 574km/h!
but in practice it appears that achieving speeds of 400km/h on commercial routes is already very difficult.

diam. berkali-kali dipisahkan. berkali-kali kembali. berkali-kali disakiti, tapi terus memaklumi.

The young man with an athletic build says growing up here was like living in the flipside of a postcard. In his teenage years he “ran amok”…

Beijing Subway Sunday: Line 10's Station Where Horses Used to Bathe
Beijing Subway Sunday: Line 10’s Station Where Horses Used to Bathe
I am always amazed by how extensive Beijing’s subway network is. As of this moment, we have 19 lines, 345 stations (70 are above ground) and 574km of track in operation, and in the coming years, we will see more lines opening. Despite being notoriously crowded (and sometimes smelly), we can’t deny that Beijing’s subway is the most convenient form of transportation in the city. Not only do I use…
