OKAY I said I wanted to make this post five months ago so it's about time that I do.

And I've seen your response @fordislavski, I misinterpreted what you said a bit, and I get the feeling that you meant... A little too well...

So that's what this is about. Shitnpiss's Stancest State of the Union. I've been wandering around the Gravity Falls fandom for the past 2 and a half years, and over that time, I've seen artists, writers, other fans come and go. This is normal, of course, but there's something I've noticed over the past year or so.

More and more often I come across a new popular GF blog, enjoying their content, feeling safe, until I see something written in their bio or pinned post:

"proship dni"

and/or

"stancest dni"

Or even worse, they don't have those in their bio or pinned post, so I'm scrolling through their blog, thinking they wouldn't hate my existence over a ship... and there it is. A post saying that they hate proshippers, stancest shippers, for them to dni, whatever.

I'm concerned. This spreading of antishipping means the fandom is becoming a more hostile place for us... and that's unfortunately exactly what they want. They want stancest and us shippers gone.

Not only have I noticed this rise in antis in the fandom, but it also seems as if there's been a decline in new stancest content and shippers (compared to previously)... but is there?

Of course there is. This incredible comic by @high-sixing for @5summersofstancest Past, Present, and Future last year puts it better than I ever could. The number of stancest shippers is so much smaller than what it was 5 years ago, a bit smaller than when I started wandering around the GF fandom, but does it really matter? The increase in antis and decrease in our numbers is scary, yeah, but we're still here. We still love these hot grunkles kissing. We still want to make more art, fanfiction, headcanons, imagines, whatever, of those hot grunkles kissing. And we're still going to, even when the stancest tag goes slow and the antis get scary.

Remember, we're still here, and we don't have to go anywhere!

For this prompt I went with, what if they made up instead of having that fight in the basement, which led to them being separated again. Type of au. And in this au, Stan has nightmares of losing Ford, for good, but Ford assures Stan that he isn’t going to abandon him, not again. @5summersofstancest​

I seem to be on a Post-Canon roll this year. Stan and Ford decking out the Stan O’ War 2 to set sail: loading cargo, unpacking boxes, filling out their shelves.

Just one small problem… bed positions.

Summer is BACK! And that means it’s time for ART PROMPTS YEAHHHHH! @5summersofstancest first prompt is “Love is Blind” and who was more emotionally blind than Ford?

So wrapped on in HIS hurt and how HE was wronged and HIS OWN self-righteousness that he completely forgot that maybe the reason he was so angry wasn’t really injustice but “oh yeah. I actually REALLY FUCKING LOVE Stan.”

He came around in the end. The dummy.

I’m super sorry for skipping two prompts for the Stancest Summer and posting this one a few days late 🙇‍♀️ One of them is smut, which I am super shu about and still working on. The other I just got too busy to draw.

But I wanted to post this one, even if it’s past its due date because this one means alot to me.

So the final prompt for @5summersofstancest was “A Tight-Knit Family” and I dedicate this piece to @donethedevilspedicure. I have been in the Stancest Fandom for a little over 5 years. Maybe more. I’ve seen people come and go and I adored everyone that I could. But it’s a very special thing when you make a close friend in a fandom. I am very glad that I took the time to find a lost Akuroku fic for a certain someone within the Stancest server as a challenge. I never imagined we would get as close as we are now a year later.

The Stancest fandom is a fandom family I am happy to be a part of, no matter how many people I see pass by. And I am especially thankful that it helped awkward little me make a good friend. From making fanart for you, giving you a 2.0 avatar remake, you tuning into my random discord gaming streams and listening to me talk about random shit. I enjoyed it all and more. May we have more years of friendship, Devil.

And I hope other people in the fandom can make a good friend like I have. Here’s to our Grunkles! Until next Summer!
