Spin
@schittscreekdrabbleblog
Patrick takes a moment to take in David sitting on the floor of his new apartment with a bottle in front of him.
“What is this?”
David shrugs. “Figured I could help you relive a high school fantasy by kissing a pretty boy during spin the bottle. Since you couldn’t last time.”
“Shouldn’t there be at least one more player? I think I need a few more options for this game to work,” Patrick teases.
“I can call Ted over.”
Patrick takes the bottle and spins it. Before it finishes, he leans down and kisses David. “No, there’s no need.”

505 vs 606
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Season 6 of Schitt's Creek was a love letter to the fans, with callbacks to the other seasons littered throughout every episode.
The Roses loved to name drop, but rarely mention the same celebrity twice. Moira must have made quite the impression on Joyce DeWitt, because even though it had been many years since they starred in a movie together, Joyce sent Moira flowers after the success of the crow attack at her Crows Have Eyes III screening.

Orphan Black (rw with mum) 5x05 Ease for Idle Millionaires
While Sarah and Kira spend time at home bonding, Cosima unlocks the island's biggest secret, discovering a link between the village's so-called creature and the science around Kira.
“The privacy we got to have in that scene, where the camera is swirling around us… it just felt so right. It was internal, it was private, and it was felt as opposed to looked at. Felt very empowering to explore the love of these two women this way.” - Tatiana Maslany
“It was really just Tatiana and I connecting, and every take was different, but it was the- the fiction making reality. The scene, it- it felt… real. There was something- our connection as actors and as characters just sort of… [pause] yeah, just, on fire. And so, that was one of the most beautiful, and intense, and magical moments of my career.” - Evelyne Brochu
"A marvelous moment happened early on, maybe the second take… Evelyne lifted Tatiana up so that she was holding her, which made Tatiana taller than her. That sort of shift in the physical dynamic is so evocative for the viewer — to go from Cosima looking up to Delphine, to being level and finally above. If we had cut to a wide shot you would have seen Cosima’s legs wrapped around Evelyne’s waist. Evelyne literally lifted Tatiana up, and it was just a breathtaking moment. And while I let each scene evolve in its own way, I said, ‘Make sure you lift her up because that’s fantastic. " - Helen Shaver
Unprisoned (with mum) 1x03 Are You My Mother Wound?
With Edwin back in her life, Paige must confront her "mother wound" - leading to a housewarming dinner that turns into a competition for her love.
Little Paige stealing every scene she's in. She is so talented. And her actually interacting with Adult Paige was a fun addition to their dynamic. Paige's family is dysfunctional af but they really do seem to love her which is really nice. I also noticed Shiri Appleby directed this ep and last 👀.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer (rw) 3x10 Amends
As the Christmas holiday approaches, Angel is tormented by evil apparitions who want him to eliminate Buffy.
The 5-episode hot streak had to end some time I guess. An episode of Angel moping about pathetically. Bored now. When Buffy and Faith making peace and potentially having a genuine connection was right there. It was literally written like she invited her girlfriend home for the holidays, and we barely go to see any of it.
Heartbreak High 1x01 Renaissance Titties
Amerie, the new outcast, receives a party invitation that gives her butterflies. But when she manages to show up, a bitter surprise awaits.
Why was the photo of her and Harper nearly kissing the one Amerie zoomed in on? And to help Quinni get Sasha's attention why was Amerie's solution to try and kiss Quinni? And why did Harper not play a love song outside Amerie's window to try and win her back?

patrick brewer being gay
I’ve been thinking a bit about patrick’s journey as a gay man in season 5 - more specifically how episodes 5x05, 5x06, and 5x07 beautifully connect in his arc.
Starting with the housewarming episode, which is a great and funny episode and initially seems like a filler episode, but in reality is so important for patrick. So often producers/showrunners will make a character “gay for one person,” have them experiment with them and eventually end up “being straight again.” And up until this episode we’ve only ever seen patrick be attracted to david, we know he’s been with rachel, we know david makes him feel right - unlike her - but we don’t ever see him express any interest in other men which makes us believe that he is basically only attracted to him. The growth he exhibits in this episode is just incredibly heartwarming - both in terms of the incredible writing on the show, dan levy writing patrick’s journey so incredibly and having patrick finally be comfortable in admitting his attraction to other men, and in terms of us being so happy for patrick who finally feels comfortable expressing his queerness out loud.
Then in 5x06 and whole ken situation - a great puzzle piece in patrick’s arc but also in the arc of his relationship with david. We, again, see patrick being attracted to another man who is not david(!) - which might i add is completely normal, you can be in love with someone but still acknowledge that other people are attractive like there is nothing wrong with that. And while patrick does not want to go on a date/hookup with ken, david puts all his feelings - anxieties and trauma from past relationships because we know he’s been in open relationships he didn’t know were open etc - aside to try and help patrick to “experience other people” because he knows he is the only man patrick’s ever been with and he wants him to have the experience of just being reckless and exploring his sexuality something most people go through in their teens/early 20s but patrick never had the opportunity to do. In terms of the importance of this episode for their relationship- patrick has the option to choose between david and another guy (for pretty much the first time) and he still ACTIVELY chooses david confirming that he is not with him just because he is the only option but rather because he really wants to be with him even when given the option of other men.
And finally in whisper of desire, the audition scene when moira tells him “the thing you need to know about cliff is that he’s been with many women but he’s never derived true pleasure from it” and patrick responds with “i think i can wrap my head around that.” This scene never fails to make me laugh and yes it really is funny but it’s also so important for patrick’s journey as a gay man. Here he acknowledges that he has been with other women, he almost married rachel, but sex obviously wasn’t something he particularly enjoyed, wasn’t something that felt right. And now with david, things do feel right (as he says in the barbecue episode) and sex obviously is very good (judging from david’s fucked up look at the end of the pregnancy test) and patrick is at this point obviously fully out to himself and has no problem acknowledging that he’s gay to others in schitt’s creek - and while we know he is still not out to his parents, he is now fully comfortable within himself with being gay.
So, again, i want to applaud Dan Levy because no one does character development better than him. This is one of the proofs. Patrick’s arc is so detailed and realistic that once we get to episodes such as meet the parents and the hike we KNOW he is actually ready for those big steps in his life, we know that there was no rushing, we KNOW that this could’ve easily been someone’s real life experience. The way Dan tells queer stories is like nothing we’ve seen before, the way he genuinely cares about the characters and his queer audiences and wants to pay respect to both is simply beautiful and speaks so much of how good of a person he is, how talented of a writer he is, and how caring and determined as a show runner he is. No one does character development better than Dan Levy.

Schitts Creek
This was hard bc I binge-watched Schitt’s Creek and therefore am very fuzzy on episodes bwahahah let’s see
Favorite episode and why Housewarming (5x05) is probably honestly my favorite episode of the show in general! So I’d definitely have to say that one; it was very fun to see David/Ted/Stevie/Alexis/Patrick ALL interact, drunk Ted, and hilarious Alexis & Patrick interactions!
Funniest/crackiest/it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode/scene The Christmas Special they had isn’t necessarily cracky but it does show a flashback to them in their previous life and it was really interesting to see! The flashbacks I thought we’d get a lot throughout the series and it only happened in the special so idk it was definitely different from the norm
It’s-terrible-and-I-hate it episode/scene Hmmm. Scene-wise I’d say Stevie and David making out bc no thanks I love them as platonic besties
Best episode/scene for my favorite character Housewarming again!!
Best episode/scene for my favorite ship 5x11 (Meet the Parents). It was just wonderful seeing how willing to bat for Patrick David was, and how Patrick obviously knows David/his parents well enough to know that they already knew he was gay but let him come out on his own time regardless. It was a beautiful episode that showed how well they work together and I just adore it
Best episode/scene for a particular supporting character 6x12 (The Pitch) for Roland. I would sometimes tolerate him I felt like, so seeing him in The Pitch made me absolutely adore him and the love he has for his fellow coworkers. It just showed that he’s a great dude all-around and I think he really shone
Best episode/scene for a character I don’t usually like I’d say I like all of them by now so I think the same answer as above
Most visually beautiful or interesting episode/scene Ooh I don’t know honestly???
Most emotionally affecting episode/scene The finale!! It really got me in my emotions lmaooo <3 Also 5x08; it really got me with Stevie & Johnny in particular and I absolutely adored that.
Most powerful use of music in an episode/scene SIMPLY THE BEST. ANY TIME THAT WAS PLAYED!!! Also both times that Precious Love was played :’)
Episode/scene that changed my perspective on the show The episode that Precious Love played - it showed me that this family really would end up loving each other even if they and I didn’t know when that would exactly be
Episode/scene where the acting stands out 6x13. I think it showed really well how all the characters were coming to fairly penultimate decisions for themselves and their futures, and I think it was really well-acted (they all were, of course, but still)
Overall best-written episode 6x08 (The Presidential Suite). I think the conversation with Ted and Alexis was just supremely well-done, and the entire episode was fantastic. It’s one of the few times a show has done something that I wouldn’t have wanted for the characters but also ended up not upset at
Send me a show!
