plot: maren thinks she’s being followed by a weird guy, so she sits near y/m at a diner to hide—whether they’re at the exact same table or at a nearby table/bar is up to you!

She can practically feel the weight of the man’s gaze press down upon her shoulders as she moved through the doors. He’d been watching her in the parking lot, seemingly debating whether he should make a move or not. He reminded Maren of someone she’d met before—someone she’d eaten before. Bad vibes, Lee would’ve said. Up to no good, Sully would’ve said. Either way, she makes quick work of shuffling down the aisle and sliding in to the first empty booth she sees, hoping the strange man isn’t bold enough to cause a scene in front of others.

it starts the same way every time. I’m in a place I don’t know — I rarely know where I am but at the same time I do because I’m apart of it all or the person or a witness, like a fly is a witness. It’s a city I’ve never been to I think it might be in the States because the roads are so big. It’s different in Europe, more walkable. It’s one of the things I look for to find where I am. I know something bad is going to happen even the actual subject knows it. It’s like we’re in on the same sick joke. We both know and there’s nothing either of us can do because we’re just players in a script and it’s what’s going to happen. It starts the same way every time. I’m in a city I don’t know and I’m watching this person like it’s a game - like I’m the camera over their shoulder. Something bad is going to happen we both know it so they walk and I follow. I can’t do anything but follow and wait and wait and wait knowing something is going to happen and it’s like with every step the thing comes closer and closer like if they just stood in one place for the rest of their life they’d be safe but they can’t do that it’s impossible to they keep walking and i follow and the thing gets closer and before it can get to them it gets to ME and it’s BREATHING ON MY NECK LIKE I’M REALLY THERE TOO AND I KNOW SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN—
