@theimpalpable sent in: Caradoc attempts to not be as loud as usual; he doesn't want to upset Lamon on his birthday by being too dramatically noisy. So he casually steps inside with Lexine by his side, both of them carrying different items. Caradoc is holding two gift bags, one from himself and another from Lexine; both destined to land on Lamon's hands. In the smallest bag, Lamon'll be able to find a box that contains a cat flower pot, along with a botanical-themed stationery set that perhaps could be useful for his classes. Upon the biggest bag, rests a succulent throw pillow and a plant plushie, these last two being Caradoc's idea.

"Happy Birthday, Lam!" Caradoc says with excitement, grinning from ear to ear. "Look what Lex made for you, ain't they cool?!" His chin tries to point at what Lexine is holding, which is a tray of succulent cupcakes. Worry not! She tried her best to make sure the ingredients were lactose-free. The girl smiles, shoulders gently lifting so the cupcakes can be seen better. "Happy Birthday, Lam."

His birthday is, unshockingly, no different from a regular day off, sans the grading and lesson planning that always has an urgent deadline. Not that he minds it- it is rather peaceful and while he is, in all technicalities, alone for the day, he doesn’t necessarily feel lonely. It was his decision not to go home for the holidays. To be with his family mainly because his parents were taking a vacation to Europe alone. And his sister, well, apparently she has a boyfriend from France and he’s invited her to spend the holidays with his family. He didn’t want to third wheel either couple.

( He’s done that one too many times, if he’s honest. )

Henceforth why he spent December 25th in the diner with Ray, who strangely enough also decided he wasn’t going back to Singapore for the holidays. He should’ve known that Ray would have made an OCCASION out of it. And gotten their friends in on it too.

“How did you-“ A pointed ( but still half-hearted ) look on his face towards Ray behind the counter. “You told them, didn’t you?”

Ray shrugs, as if Lam were asking him about, say, the weather. “They’re our friends- of course they’ll wanna celebrate. Besides, you sure you want me in charge of making you a cake?”

Touché, although Lam doesn’t say that outright. He imagines that Lexine probably persuaded Ray to let her take care of providing the food. Between the two of them, she is the baker, after all. And the one with common sense too- no one wants a stomachache on their birthday anyways.

“What are you two- you didn’t have to do this much.” Getting a set of cupcakes is one thing, it’s another to get such a collection of gifts ( if he wants to take the succulent pillow out and hug it for the rest of his stay here, he won’t say ). Licking the icing off of one cupcake though- it feels a bit like a crime to do so- he glances over at Doc, who is being weirdly considerate…it’s nice, but also-

“Just say something. Please” He blurts out suddenly. It’s too weird, Doc not talking and well, being loud next to Ray. “You don’t- it’s weird when you’re quiet.”

The heat rushes to his face as the urge to hide his face suddenly grows. That’s just the kind of people they are, aren’t they? The kind to celebrate even the smallest of occasions, like HIS BIRTHDAY. “…Thanks. For celebrating.”

Angst, fluff, Miguel gets no happy ending atm

He didn’t even realize he had done it.

“Miguel! Be more careful!” She said, looking at him and back to your unconscious body.

“I’m trying!” He said, holding the tentacle doc ock was throwing at him. He said, not looking back.

Jessica shook her head, and entered the portal quickly. She quickly ran to the infirmary, when Hobie spotted her. He looked in her arms and went over, confused on who it was at first.

It wasn’t until he stopped and realized it was you.

He looked at Jess, and he looked at you.

“What the fuck happened?” He said, alarmed.

“It doesn’t matter right now, what matters is that she’s bleeding out in my arms!” She said, and quickly put her on the stretcher, and they quickly rolled her away.

Jessica sighed as Hobie followed you in, the doctors didn’t care too much about him entering and focused on you.

They took off your clothes, and stopped the bleeding first. Then they put you in a hospital gown, and quickly pulled up some machines, checking what was wrong.

Hobie was at your side the whole time, holding your hand and looking at the doctors while doing so.

They did their thing with Hobie in there, and they said there was nothing much else they could do except wait. You were in stable condition luckily. The doctors left after a while.

“Fuck. Knew I shoulda been there, fuckin’..” he paced around the room. The door opened slowly, and Gwen had some flowers and a card in her hand. Pavitr had a sad look on his face.

“Hey… we heard what happened.. you alright in here? They wouldn’t let us in at first.” Gwen said.

Hobie snapped his head to Gwen and Pavitr.

“Where’s Miguel? He should be here-“

“You don’t know…?” Pavitr said.

“Know what..?” Hobie asked.

“He’s the one that did this, bro. We were shocked too. But we went to go get something from him and he was talking to Jessica and Peter B, and we overheard them. He was mad as hell.”

Hobies face dropped, and he was just mad at him now.

“What?” Hobie said angrily.

They both stayed silent and Hobie groaned in frustration. Your own dad did this, and you hadn’t even realized.

“Sorry, man.” Pavitr pat his shoulder and gave him a small hug.

“Swear to God, I’m gonna fucking kill Miguel-“ he was interrupted when someone entered the room.

Miguel.

“How’d this happen?” Hobie asked him immediately.

“It was an accident-“

“This ain’t no fuckin’ accident you can brush off, you coulda fuckin’-“

“But I didn’t. She’s alive. She’s my daughter, Hobie. Let me in-“ he tried pushing Hobie.

“Nah, man. Can’t let you do that.”

You started to wake up and Miguels eyes widened at that.

“Y/n… I didn’t mean to, Y/n!” He said and was being held back by his own doctors.

“Sir, you need to calm down, this is an infirmary-“

“I created this fucking place. I know that.” He spat at the doctor

“Just please… you can come in when your calm.”

“One person in here at a time please.” The doctor said when they entered the room, they all left Hobie and you.

He looked at you and you gave him a small smile.

“Hobie.”

“Yeah, It’s me. You alright?” He said, caressing your cheek.

“What happened?” You asked.

“Well.. you were on a mission, and you got hurt. Don’t know how but..” he lied. He shouldn’t say something that might mess up you and your dad’s relationship.

“Oh.”

“How are you feeling, Ms. O’Hara?” The doctor asked.

“I’m feeling… tired. Sore. It hurts.” You mumbled to her, looking at her.

“That’s expected. You took some heavy damage, we suggest that you don’t go on missions for a while. At least until you’re healed.”

You nodded and looked back at Hobie.

“Where’s my dad?”

“He’s outside.” The doctor said.

You sighed and looked at Hobie again.

“You okay?”

“I’m jus’ tired.. I missed you though.”

He laughed quietly “Well, don’t worry cause I’m not leaving your side anymore.”

Alex's eyes are hot as he blinks back tears, Henry's profile blurring and distorting. “Tu me manques, remember? You kept saying that and I kept going ‘Oh, he's so hot when he's speaking French’ like the idiot I am. But I looked it up and it's not just ‘I miss you’, is it? It’s fucking ‘you are absent from me’, like a piece of me belongs to you, a part of you that’s mine. Why would you—why the fuck would you whisper this to me so earnestly every time you think I can’t hear you, and then turn around and pull this shit? Are you embarrassed by us, by me? Is the piece of me you have not enough?” Henry stands in front of him, eyes a little distant and haunted, fingers flexing at his sides. His silence cuts Alex to the fucking core, lances through him and gets him square in his traitorous little heart. A fickle thing, love is. Will he ever be enough for someone? Alex steels himself to say the words he’s been holding back, the words that have been pushing up behind his teeth for months, making his gums ache and jaw tingle.  “I don’t want to be your dirty little secret, Henry. I deserve better. And I think you do, too. You just won’t allow yourself to see that, and it’s killing me.”

oh gosh I'm not sure. I HOPE I finish them all but I also have an obscene amount so ksjhdksjdhf not crossing anything off yet!

what are your writing strengths?

I think dialogue? it's always the part of my fics that I write first, and then I build the rest of the story around it. I hope it's a solid foundation!

what are your writing weaknesses?

there's a fine line between explaining and over-explaining and I think sometimes I fall into the second category skjdhkjhf. I love some introspection as much as the next guy but I'm working on only including details that feel most pertinent to the story.

thoughts on dialogue in another language?

I love it! I think it can be so special and can be another way to connect readers with the characters and the story. I took Spanish all four years of high school so I'm a little rusty now, and studied French for a while a few years ago and just picked it back up recently! my translations aren't always perfect but luckily I've had some very kind people to check or point these things out for me :)

oh no. I am so bad at perceiving myself ksjhdjkdjfhg. I think each of my fics definitely served a purpose for me while writing them, but lately I've found myself returning to these three (I'm breaking the rules yes sorry):

so @alexthescaredenby, sorry for the tag btw, created this storyline where there's this world called Dreamscape Nexus. me, @shrimpysstuff, @eternal-nyxx, and @moonysfavoritetoast were the ogs, ig, and we are characrters in this world i assume, and we're supposed to try and figure out what the fuck is going on in this alternate world. along the way, somehow we roped in @anonnzone, @aj-exists, @iwouldkickahorse, and @bassguitarinablackt-shirt.

now we're just trying to figure whatever the fuck this world is.

outside of the main storyline, or maybe it is in it, idk, we have the different characters alex plays, including the documentarian (or doc), daedulus (i probly butchered that), dawn, etc.

itll probly take us around a year or more, as alex estimated lolsie bc we are dumb as fuck

and im currently writing fanfictioon for it bc alex requested so

Ahhhh it's been in my docs so long I almost couldn't find it 😭😭 I also played clarinet!! Although there were kids always fighting to the death for section leader so I was much happier stayong out of it and playing second with my friends lol also I loved playing in the mid to lower register bc I thought it sounded prettier hahaha

Sooo originally this idea was massive but I shortened it to Alex (drum major/trumpet player) warming up to Henry (pit percussion captain) after Raf pairs off the band leadership to learn from each other

I basically just have some scenes of them in leadership camp and throughout the season and a pivotal scene where they're forced to share a room/bed!

I will ramble more below for who is in what section but that's the gist!! I haven't written the resolution just all the trauma bonding (shitty parents/dead parent) and buildup :P

I want Alex as a new, kinda slutty intern who accidentally sleeps with his new boss (neurosurgeon Henry Fox) the night before his first day as an intern at the hospital his mom was an accomplished surgeon at. There's a lot of opportunity for angst, and dark and twisty alex.

Nora would of course be Cristina, how could i not. it almost writes itself.

it's another just line on the idea doc that i screamed at grace about for a minute.

okay i think this was mostly a result of me and @bigassbowlingballhead screaming at each other about alex in a tank top all covered with grease and poor posh henry stumbling into his shop right before it closes and trying to ask for help but having his poor little gay brain fried by the sight of alex.

this probably should've gone in the idea doc instead of getting it's own document but i suspect the reason it got its own doc despite barely being an idea is this line:

"Well, we're closin', sweetheart, but maybe I could stay a little late to help if you make it worth my while."

And then alex winks at Henry as he continues to wipe the grease off his hands with his nasty shop towel and then he rails henry over the hood of his car or something and i guess maybe fixes it the end.

Triptych and Triptych for real,,,, pls elaborate lol

the song triptych by samia makes me insane (see spotify wrapped revealing i listened to it 2,320 times this year) and i've been wanting to write something with those vibes for so long. "triptych" is a doc full of like 5 different outlines trying to figure out how to execute it, all of which i hated once i started actually writing and abandoned.

"triptych for real" is where i finally figured out what direction to go in! it's alex/george/lando and i planned on writing it for ot3 fest but i don't think i'll finish it by the deadline lol, but i'll still probably finish it later! (+ little snippet)

what is childhood trauma fest about??

i have to be honest, this one was completely abandoned and was born in the middle of one of those breakdowns that have given us shit like the really fucking angsty au or the break up fic,which we all know means nothing good (and if u dont then go and check them out, but pls be mindful of the tags bc yes they're as bad as they sound or worse.)

so the childhood trauma fest can be pretty summed up by me writing this at the beginning of the doc:

and as it may imply, its about june and alex having parental issues with ellen and oscar respectively, bc i like to explore how flawed i think ellen and oscar are, and the damage a divorce can do to their kids. i think it was supposed to end with alex and june getting drunk and having a conversation about it at the brownstone while everyone else was sleeping/watching drag race/something like that, maybe trying to break the pattern of generational trauma or stuff like that(?, but since i never even finished the outline, then we'll probably never find out sjksjskssjsksjsnsjsksjs
