your gorgeous gorgeous art got me wanting to read war and peace, is there a specific translation you could recommend?

Hello anon! I currently own the Wordsworth Classics edition and it uses a very old Maude translation. I enjoy this translation asides from the Britishified names (Andrei as Andrew, Nikolai as Nicolas, etc) and the flow can be chunky but I enjoy it nonetheless. I’ve heard the Oxford World’s Classics edition of the Maude translation has done a better job with the flow and kept the Russian names, so I’d suggest that one. There’s also a few other translations like the Anthony Briggs one, but I haven’t read it and I’m usually not very fond of the translation of Russian into British English though I’ve heard it’s good for an introduction and is more nice to read. I find War and Peace to be significantly easier to read than most classics so it really depends on your preference of something closer to the original Russian or British English. Either way, I hope you enjoy this book that makes me insane on the daily

I do find it weird that they’ll reprint English books for an American audience and modify the language slightly so it’s not using British slang but using American slang instead and it’s just, how little faith do you have in the American audience that you don’t think they’re going to understand words like “jumper” or “boot” or the weather in Celsius…

Persimmon is an alien and all 4kids alien names were basically insults towards the characters (dren being nerd backwards and tarb being brat backwards. And straight up calling poor Pai sardon for sardonic like any kids will get THAT ONE?? Or was I just not a smart kid…) so anyway persi would be. Apathia?? And in the same vein Sapote would be Rudey. Persi would absolutely get a valley girl accent and be a lot more rude all of the time to even her friends so American kids watching would be like. Are they even Friends?? and on the flip side Sapote would be HEAVILY censored and made a lot sillier (she is silly but they would make her More Silly. 4kids humor) and she would have a THICK Brooklyn accent

Aqua would be Amy Grant. No relation to amy lee grant and they would deny it as coincidence…. 🤔 (I just honestly like the name Amy and grant is Ryou’s last name in the dub 😭) And the robotic filter over her voice would be nearly impossible to understand bc it’s so heavily done, but they would make her voice very high and …they would also have to heavily censor her…violence….

Cara already has a pretty common western name but I think it would be very funny if they. Changed it anyway for no apparent reason to Charlotte. And made her have a British accent. Just typing that is sending me into hysterics. Cara has been Britishified 😔

some of you know Mia as the person who makes those funny edits of characters from the hit Netflix original “Stranger Things” talking like they’re British or maybe as the person who “exposed” me earlier. what you don’t know about her is that she is a LIAR. she has been lying to you all the entire time and I am so sick of it. there’s a lot of layers so let’s get into it

as you can see Mia repeatedly refers to herself as Charlie or being played by Charlie. This is because SHE IS CHARLIE. you can also see how she has delusioned herself in2 thinking I am Frank Reynolds when I’m not (see above).

Mia has also told me she huffs paint and likes milk steak and HATES knees. if you have knees that means she hates you too. YES, YOU. here’s the proof -

I don’t know who Mia Lovesongmp4 is but I’m certain she’s a nice person who does not deserve to have her identity STOLEN like this.

Mia has said it herself - she’s demogorgon kin. She goes outside and rolls in the dirt and eats MEAT and THREE MUSKETEERS - one of the worst candy bars on the market. this is disgusting - she’s literally killed people before.

Mia ships [REDACTED] and single handedly ruined my life (this part of her post is true). She’s made me almost pee my pants from how funny she is. im getting britishified one tom scott video at a time. also the phonetics class where i could technically declare i prefer the american pronunciation over the british one but most people including the teacher speak with a british accent so im absorbing it like a very reluctant sponge
