hichic sniff... so many things to talk about... 🤧bwachoo... but god since i just rewatched (some of) them recently, i think his arc throughout the tos movies was so wonderfully done and i rlly resonated with it..... ough..

bc LIKE i think one problem with how trek does aliens sometimes is the constant hypocrisy. and theres a level to that thats unavoidable... i realise that esp for pre-streaming tv there does have to be a certain identifiable-ness (?) within each species; that, moreover, there's limited time do what you can with each species as you introduce them; and that as a franchise, you're going to have counttlesssssss writers and editors and actors and producers and whatever have you interpreting and fussing with the piece so....

yeas you're gonna get episodes with really nuanced insights onto, like, klingon culture and then the next episode they a homogenous entity that all screams the exact same crap all over agaun. and they for suresies do the SAAAMEE THING TO VULCANS nonstop (and that one pisses me off the most, bc im terribly biased) with their own grasp on logic and the philosophy behind + they put it so black and white....

& idk eek... squeak... i love the little journey of it with spock within the movies. i most seriously do. bc he doesnt ever reject the notion of logic. it IS a fundamental truth about himself, that he thinks like that. but instead its about learning to extend that, to allow your own guiding principles be the foundations of sth bigger... as he says himself, logic is only the beginning of wisdom...

anyway. its like i said i myself LOL. at the risk of sounding sooo corny lame im like... for suresies a little autistic boy and idk. i think i myself find it very hardto break out of "logical" thinking sometimes if that makes sense... idk THAT makes me sound like an arse, but i seriouslydont even mean it in a pretentious way- i mean it in its i KNOW its a very real shortcoming of myself & i feel severely limited by it. growl. & its just... okie.. smile... again bc like i said-he gets to keep that about himself and grow as a person and have such a rich perspective of the universe by the end of the series thats soo uniquely to him and its sth. danny phantom season 2, ep 12-16 thoughts! these episodes, in comparison to the first 10 or so, felt way more laid back and low-stakes, which I appreciate sometimes. I didn't appreciate how lazy jack's halfa design was in masters of time, it made me so annoyed I redesigned it. 👎🏻 u_u

-I knew danny wanted to be an astronaut, but the bowling tidbit is like. yes give me more useless info abt these characters, I love tiny details that make them feel more human, and im glad hes got hobbies aside from ghost stuff, we dont really see a lot of that!!! (I mean, we knew 'fun' danny from when he split himself in half liked bowling, so obv it makes sense he LIKES it, but hes very GOOD at it. so proud of him, bowling king) val calling him neil armstrong and them teasing each other. LOVE THAT.

-technus you are my favorite grandpa for setting this up. SAM WHY ARE YOU BEING SO CREEPY BE HAPPY FOR YOUR FRIEND!!! I remember in the ep we met him, vlad made a point of saying he was stuck in a hospital for a long time, so. that really actually sucks and I feel bad. not that it excuses anything he's done...but like. it does suck.

-vlad being so sure danny wouldnt help him he made it somehow contagious to his friends to make sure he'd get help? danny is a nice boy, he wouldve helped if it was anyone else. the only reason he wouldn't have is because of the shit vlad did to him, on purpose. vlad 100% dug his own grave by being the biggest asshole, so it is very hard to feel bad for him.

-clockwork is back!!! and making danny learn lessons The Hard Way. Uhhh, okay. I kind of get Danny’s logic, that time traveling this far back would prevent vlad from becoming a halfa also, ergo no arch nemesis or ectoacne to worry about. But the fact that was basically the first solution Danny came up with to solve this problem is actually so funny. It’s so extreme

-vlad telling maddie in the lab (in the 80s) he has something he's wanted to tell her 'for a long time'...how long have they known each other? I assumed they met in college, since jack always calls vlad his college buddy/roommate, so jack and vlad for sure met in college, but did vlad know maddie longer? thats surprising if so. Tho we don’t know what year of college they’re in so they could mean they met as freshmen and a few years have past…speaking of maddie shes crushing the 80s look.

-vlad blames jack, but. maybe dont stick your face 2 inches from the portal??! THIS FEELS LIKE LAB SAFETY BASICS. IF SOMETHING HAS POTENTIAL TO BE DANGEROUS, DONT GET NEAR IT. WITH YOUR FACE UNPROTECTED IN ANY WAY. (altho jack didnt really give a Big Warning besides screaming BONZAI. so. also that, but cmon.) also, they need gloves, goggles, and to pull all of their hair back tbh. but fuck lab safety, I guess!

Also mildly frustrated jacks resentment and bitterness is basically also a copy paste of vlads backstory. They’re different characters, I really don’t think jack would stew in bitterness and jealousy the same way vlad would!! I also don’t think he’d give up after one time of trying to hunt ghosts and getting laughed at. Our canon timeline says different…I dunno, I get it was for laughs, but I’m annoyed because the POTENTIAL this plot has…

-did vlad really wear a stupid cheese hat to his wedding. ok actually that kinda rules. and the cheese door knocker. the dairy-only buffet table. vlad still got rich, just on being the New Dairy King. (Assuming that means he owns a lot of dairy businesses?) ok! this actually is great. hope maddie isn't lactose intolerant!

-'no matter how hard I tried, I could never get rid of my ghost half, the half I knew Maddie could never accept' ohh, ouch, what a horrible thing to say to her HALF GHOST SON. 'YOUR MOM WILL NEVER ACCEPT YOU' BASICALLY.

-maddie strapping danny to the table with a lazer pointed at him in a secret lab she keeps from vlad that she makes a point of saying is sound proof so he can scream all he wants...CHRIST. DANNYS POOR PYSCHE.

-also, not to feel bad for alternate vlad (because, he did lie to maddie saying jack blames her and never wants to see her again...) but. being married to a woman 20+ years and she immediately goes back to jack? if she didnt love vlad and feels like she had to hide shit from him, and says she wasted her best years with him, WHY MARRY HIM. it feels like leading him on!!! cannot believe im feeling bad for vlad, but. this alternate timeline vlad is significantly Less Horrible than Our Vlad. did she not think she'd get funding for her ghost stuff? (which, fair assumption since they're considered 'ghost fanatics/nuts in canon...but...) why did she think jack or vlad would be her ONLY OPTIONS? be like your sister. be single. Actually, this au could’ve been really interesting if after the accident, vlad lied to her and said jack never wanted to see her again, but she stays single. Imagine how much that would bug vlad… like, in her mind, it was never a competition it was jack or no one type situation…

-danny being like 'leave him ALONE' this jack is a HOMEWRECKER, DANNY. let them go to court and settle this at the least. ...or just throw vlad into the portal. (100% human, defenseless vlad) CHRIST, MADDIE THATS BRUTAL. THATS MURDER.

-danny seeing his mom immediately accepting him and his dad being half ghosts in this universe, if I was him this would be a great sign that his universe's maddie would also.

-when clockwork ""reset time to the way it was"" just before danny "meddled"" ...did he really erase a whole alternate timeline? ...damn. because maddie and danny both called it an alternate timeline by name, it splitting when the college incident went different, so it wouldnt have really mattered if he reset it, right. like because danny's timeline is on a different stream? why didnt clockwork just. show danny a replay and not Reset That Timeline. wh...I wonder how many people that Erased From Existence. Anyway! once again stating clockwork is casually terrifying!

I just want to talk about why I love Schitt's Creek

I have always been a huge Eugene Levy fan, since Cheaper by the Dozen when I was little, he is a amazing actor

Catherine O'Hara actually portrays a decent character and decent mother who is trying. I love Beetlejuice, always have, but I hated her character in it, I also hated her character in Home Alone, they were both garbage mothers

Daniel Levy, oh my God, I've never seen him in anything else but I love him. I love David Rose. He is a "bebe".

David, I love David and respect him and I relate to him. I also look up to him. He has no shame or doubt in his sexuality and is up front and honest about it. He doesn't let his financial status define him. He is so pure. He is so romantic. I relate to how he is afraid and cautious with love because of being hurt, and him not having a plethora of friends. I love how he is pan but he's not overly flamboyant or a femboy or any of that, he is him, he is a guy who just loves and he's not trying so hard like Wade Wilson XD. I relate to how he had to be hurt a lot to find happiness. I relate to how he had to care for a pill popping mother. I love his style, fashion wise and romance wise. I relate to his battle with anxiety and over thinking.

I like Alexis. She bettered herself and I admire that

I love Johnny and I relate to him too

I love how there aren't a obnoxious amount of Christmas episodes like on most sitcoms. I also relate to how Johnny feels about it. How it is a bad time for him and lonely but still he holds out hope for a better one. I relate to how he strives for it to be perfect and gives up and gets hurt when it isn't , and I just really see where he comes from because I'm the same way that holiday and he and I generally want the same one thing for similar-ish reasons

The David and Stevie relationship, as someone in David's boat, it shows realistically what it's like to have little to no one friend wise

I love how they handle relationships on the show. How they handle the drama is so much better than how it is on most shows and in real life, unfortunately

Moira, she's not perfect but she tries and I love that, again, I can relate to having a mother like that

Uhm, hot guys, hello Mutt and Ted and David and Eugene (personally I like Mutt clean shaven or full beard but did not care for that midway thing he did lol) but like David though

I like how the gay relationship is realistic in comparison to others I've seen on TV and movies

The character development is great

Realistic small towns. Most of the time on TV shows if theyre in a "Podunk" town the characters just seem to always have everything they need like wtf no, this show is actually like "yeah fam, you gotta go over to this town"

David's birthday and how he reacts to people forgetting it,I feel that. It is realistic. When people forget, speaking from experience the only ones who remembered my birthday most of my life were my parents, but, when people do that, you really feel like dying or popping pills and going to bed early. Realistic. His dad remembered, I feel that. Christmas and my birthday are my two least favorite holidays

Patrick knew he his sexuality but never kissed a guy until he was a grown man. I'm grown and I'm bi. I've known I was bi since I was about 15, with my first girlfriend. However, I have only been kissed by a girl once very quickly for a nervous game of truth or dare, I've never been with a girl, I never kissed or was with my ex girlfriend. It's realistic

I love how Johnny is okay and accepts David as his dad for his preferences. Like I just said, I'm bi and I've known for a while. When I was with my ex girlfriend I tried to come out to my dad. We were talking about her and I said, "What if I like her as more than my friend, I definitely like her more than my sister's" to which he responded, "Nah, you ain't like that, she's like your sister" so from that time until I was 22 he never knew, neither did my mom. My dad passed between father's day and my birthday last year and he never knew I was bi, my mom still doesn't. He went to his grave with me never telling him but here I am saying online to everyone else. Parents acceptance is important. I'm the kind of person who believes who you sleep with isn't your parents business but they should be able to know who you love and accept that. Sure, Johnny did express it would be easier for David to pick a gender, but ultimately, it doesn't matter. David brought the people he loved to Johnny and Johnny loved them in return

The in law situation with Stevie and Johnny. I know they aren't in laws but she did sleep with David once, that's not the point. I love how he steps in as a parent for her much like my mom in law did for me, she's like a friend and the parent I go to if I need something wether it be help or otherwise, I go to her for grown up stuff

The town is a big family, I love that and again, kind of relate

What are your opinions about Jungle cubs? I loved that show as a kid!

hi hello!! thank u for humoring me!! i love getting asks about the stuff im currently obsessed with that nobody really cares about, it makes me feel valid! also i dont have well constructed opinions, i just have a very messy, manic head so i just babble all my thoughts. for that i am sorry 

im not gonna say jungle cubs is the best damn cartoon to hit the tv and maybe its just my own biased love speaking when i call it a good show but it means a lot to me personally. it brought me comfort as a little kid, i came back to it as a teen when i was feeling very alone and came back to it again as an adult just cuz of my recent love of baloo and talespin and needing something to keep me upbeat during the quarantine. 

and ive watched quite a few cartoons i loved as a kid that i dont really vibe with anymore. i tried rewatching gummi bears. its not my thing. but jungle cubs is?? really good?? its just so charming to watch. i love the expressive animation, i love the smooth flowing dialogue, i love the playful and naive tone it has of just a bunch of kids being kids, i love the depiction of these characters, i love the performance of the voice actors, i love the layers it adds to the original film. layers that were never intended to be in there in the first place but isnt that just the beauty of interpretation and ones own imagination. 

its such a formulaic concept isnt it. to take a classic show/movie and make its protagonists babies for a spinoff. but i dunno, i always got the feeling that whoever was the backbone of this story actually cared about the characters they were writing and took a sincere approach to it. 

they thought in-depth about how to devolve them from their current personalities in a realistic way and what aspects of themselves are so core to their being that they would have been ingrained since childhood. the cubs feel pretty three-dimensional and considering theyre cash grab spinoff babies, that is an amazing feat.

but also, i love it for the very very very simple reason of its really adorable. bagheera especially. to see such a stoic and levelheaded character in his earliest stage as a child just Hits for me. cub bagheera is clever, hes cautious, hes a little stuck-up, all traits he has in the movie. hes also not the best hunter, doesnt know how to roar yet, is a little cowardly, sorta awkward at times and is often trying to prove that hes the best even though hes aware that he is nowhere near the best.

like its easy to believe the kind of person he grows up to be but at the same time, its really interesting to see the more childish aspects of himself that he eventually matured past. and hes adorable dude! baby bagheera voiced by EG Daily is the sweetest goddamn thing, i love him so much 

also shere khan who is a fuckin doozy. hes very interesting in this too. everything about his attitude is reminiscent of a preteen who says mean things to you on voice chat while playing overwatch but if you tell him you’re gonna call the police on him, he starts panicking. thats shere khan’s vibe, a real edgy little tiger who thinks hes hot shit cuz he probably caught something bigger than a mouse like one time and its gone to his head. 

hes constantly stalking around, subtly bragging about what a natural predator he is. but at the same time, he’s still around?? hes still hanging around with the other cubs cuz hes ALSO a cub and likes to play around with other kids his age. and he fucking loves his friends. the amount of times he’s scared off bigger animals who were about to harm them. and its really sweet cuz they like him too. while his attitude is definitely annoying sometimes, they still consider him their friend and enjoy his company. its just wholesome. 

plus hes also pretty vulnerable as hes a cub. he doesnt stand a chance when they come across a grown animal as a threat. he gets scared just like the rest of them, hes just so arrogant that he never admits it. 

in fact the appeal of the show in general to me, is the vulnerabilities of all the characters that comes with being in their most immature state. they dont know any better when it comes to stuff. this show is real dumbass hours 

EVERYTHING about baloo is just great. he does not change even slightly. he is exactly the same except hes little and his voice hasnt broke yet. his child voice is amazingly fitting also.

i mean i guess one thing that differentiates him is adult baloo had some semblance of a philosophy. he was wise....in a way. baby baloo does not know shit about shit. he does not think. he just vibes, okay?? i love him mwah

i dont have much to say about the others but i DO like this interpretation of them more than their adult selves. it also just feels bittersweet that they grew up to be such dicks. Haithi is lovely, i love that hes just out here TRYING to be a colonel but he lacks the authority that comes with being a grown elephant and he doesnt have the self confidence to command anybody yet. he is simply babey.

 louie is a very cute little dude, i love him and baloo as just an idiot squad. he also has a very good voice

kaa.....i dont trust. on one hand, hes very sweet as a child but on the OTHER HAND he grows up to be the creepiest fucking creation disney has ever put in a movie so that snake will always rub me the wrong way even when im trying to like him. 

also ONE THING thats driving me crazy about this show is like. it has the best depiction of pre-adolescent boys that i have ever seen in a cartoon ever. just the way they behave. theyre sweethearts one minute, extremely mean the next minute, going from building eachother up to lightly bullying eachother, lots of unprovoked play fighting, laughing over dumb shit, rude to strangers for no goddamn reason, theres just a lot. 

it fuckin knocked me back like 15 years cuz it reminded me so much of kids i used to play with. and these arent even human children whose brain development is documented, these are animals, this show had no business being this spot-on.

i dont like season 2. it has a few gems here and there that i get a kick out of. but as a whole, its really disappointing. since the show swapped production companies, they seemed to uproot it completely and start from scratch. and its kinda sad cuz i think they were TRYING to do something poignant when it came to a future narrative but it just didnt land. firstly there was a huge animation downgrade and looking at the two season in comparison is kinda depressing. 

also they redesigned the characters, some looked worse than others. baloo looked fine but i still preferred his og look. bagheera....was the worst. rip bagheera. 

they all underwent a huge personality change. and not in the way that showed subtle maturity, i mean a vapid exaggeration of their original personality. the only characters who were left relatively alone in this regard were baloo and kaa. and i dont mind gradually changing a character since there IS an adult version of them that they should be growing into. but the season 2 depictions are literally the furthest things from their adult selves that its unbelievable.

 another pet peeve is they changed a few of the voice actors and.....i love these season 2 voice actors in other work theyve done. dee bradley baker and cree summer specifically who are both very talented people. but they did not fit these roles in the slightest. (not to mention having cree summer play an APE and suddenly having her do a LOT of monkey noises that the previous va never had to do. im not gonna get into all that BUT hmm.) and if youre gonna recast the characters to make them sound “older” as least make them sound somewhat similar to the jungle book actors, so you can picture them eventually growing into those voices. 

also the tone shifted so much between seasons. the way they tried to make this jungle more of a “society” with shit like talent shows and sports games and celebrities and like fuckin. STOP. theyre animals. just let them be animals. along with that the writing just feels really off and its just. not fun. i dont like it 

and as i mentioned, they WERE trying to do something here. the fact that the cubs didnt hang out with eachother as much and were starting to drift apart is kinda sad and wouldve liked it see it handled a little better. but instead i got season 2, which was stupid. and im 21 and im petty. 

anyway i am very sorry that ended so negatively and im very sorry that rant was completely all over the place i have no sense of proper organization i just wanted to gush about what i love. but on a positive note i love jungle cubs!! its very dear to my heart and makes me very happy and i wish it had gotten more episodes

if you're right it would be very sad and not fit the show, because i dont think spinel is going to be big in s6. i think they all want closure towards pink, but will work to not just be nicer to each other but to grow past her. thats my hope. i think theyll be flawed and keep making those comparisons, but also that its okay to start out that way if theyre willing to work on it. i also dont think spinel sees the diamonds as goddesses, she tries to kill pink's son. i think and hope its hopeful.

i just worry that if youre right it means spinel actually got a sad ending and we wont see anything more than that. the animation seems to convey the opposite, their expressions are really sincere and optimistic. so i think it would suck if its actually an implied bad ending and thats all.

i dunno what to think. i really dont think what they meant by the very happy and cutesy “i’ll love again” sequence was secretly “this comparison is bad and abusive and this is a sad ending”. i don’t think it’s supposed to be perfect as the characters arent but abuse is stretching it. they just wanna start over with someone who gets their pain and is comforting to be around.

It’s getting late, but I’d like to finish with this ask.

Please don’t take my angst takes as me saying that Spinel isn’t going to get a happy ending! I do believe that the end of the movie was meant to be a genuine exchange of happiness, the Diamonds instantly love Spinel and Spinel is instantly happy to be loved by them. It’s just that this will be the first gem they’ve had to give affection to since Pink and to an extent Steven (who isn’t receptive of it in the least), so they’re going to make mistakes.

They know what to say and what NOT to do, and now they will have to learn what TO do. Abuse isn’t always some violent, scarring act. Saying what they think Spinel wants to hear and doing practically nothing beyond that (because they don’t know how to empathize and accommodate for other people’s feelings) would be neglectful, and emotional neglect is a form of abuse. I know because I’ve been there.

When the Diamonds showed up at the end of the movie, Spinel hid. She had a beef with Pink, and so she tried to kill her son, but she has nothing against the other Diamonds, who are basically the equivalent of goddesses on Homeworld. What I’m saying is, she regards them as very important beings just as any gem would, and their approval of her would make the scene all the more meaningful. She isn’t receiving love from just any gems, but the most important gems in existence, and Pink Diamond’s family at that.

And you know, if that’s how her story ends, then I’m perfectly fine with that. That was a happy ending for both Spinel and the Diamonds, I’m just exploring the potential. I think their story would be the most interesting if we see it through, struggles and all. Both Spinel and the Diamonds are only beginning to change, after all.

As a final note: Season 6 also still hasn’t been explicitly confirmed, and the language they’ve used to tease what comes next for the show suggests that they’ll be doing something a little different. After all, there wouldn’t be a need for all this secrecy if they were just going to end with a season 6. It’s still possible that we will get more than the standard 26 11 minute episodes (with a longer special or two sprinkled in) to cap off the series, meaning it’s still possible we’ll have more time to explore these stories sufficiently.

Regardless, we know the show isn’t over yet, and with the strong alliance between Earth and Homeworld, there’s no way we’re not going to see the Diamonds and Spinel again.

Anyway, this was a lovely, long discussion about Spinel, but it’s almost 1am and I really need to get into a better sleeping pattern. Good night!

personally i find the first few seasons better than 13 because if you can look past the (perfectly valid) issues people have with them, since they were made 13 years ago and things have changed so much since then, they’re just more entertaining imo compared to season 13. like 13 had some good eps but none of them are even close to favourites (apart from mfhp of course). like i enjoyed bathroom problem and new wheels but they weren’t tHat great. home alone was hard to watch, (part 2 comin up)

i get where youre coming from, i do. i completely agree that glenn’s absence hurt the season as a whole which is why its not even in my top 3. but for me, they really rose to the occasion, and the  nuance in writing, acting, and storyelling in s13 is so advanced in comparison.

i really love escapes; i think it is  a clever, classic ep and i actually like clip show, makes paddys great, and boggs as well and maybe its partially because i think they offered the variety ive expected from sunny? theyre all weird and introspective and silly in different ways, and i think it really speaks to what sunny is about for me at least

it initially disappointed me  about framing a gay character as a predator before i ultimately considered, they’re literally ALL being framed as predators in that episode, and i do think it would be dishonest to what we know of mac   from the past 12 years to act like he was the only “innocent” character

idk i think it might be a season that grows on people, i have a hypothesis at least

So I watched Citrus ⚠SPOILER WARNING⚠

And I have issues with it. Now Ive never read the manga a day in life. Ive seen fan art of it however and knew it existed but never what it was about. If im missing out on some parts message me and explain please. I’m not going to hate the show. I don’t hate the show at all. I just have issues with it. Now here’s my thoughts.

Note there’s only 5 episodes on Crunchyroll but here’s my thoughts so far

So Mei is the Class President and has been since she was a first year. Her grandfather is a Chairman of the school and Mei’s father marries Yuzu’s mother and they move to another district. For some reason Yuzu’s mom forgets to tell her that she’s got a younger step sister and for some reason Yuzu’s never seen her new stepfather. But Im gonna ignore that.

Yuzu wants to fall in love and get a first kiss and get a boyfriend. Nice plan for a high schooler. So she walks in and this girl with springy pig tails named Momokino gives her shit. Mei comes up and feels up and down Yuzu to get her phone from her pocket. Later on in the day she meets her friend Harumin. Harumin explains to her that everyones not outgoing and follows the strict rules. Oh and um everyone looks EXACTLY the same. Black and/or purpley hair, beige top, greenish plaid skirt, all shy and reserved.

So it’s implied all the girls in this all girl school fuck each other before they get married off to someone after high school. So fast forward and Yuzu finds the hot teacher and Mei kissing and later it’s said theyre supposed to be married to each other. Later in the day Mei goes to Yuzu and her moms apartment and then Yuzu making an effort to talk to Mei and get along as step sisters. Mei ignores her this entire time so Yuzu has to talk about a subject that’ll strike a nerve to get conversation. Mei takes her down and kisses her.

At that moment I do the Oprah gif where she’s squinting. It’s not incest cuz they’re not real sisters but I’m sure a good majority would argue it is and I can understand that but lets ignore the incest is wincest meme right now.

At this point Im sure Im missing a lot of aspects in the anime and manga. I know that there’s a good following for the manga but i haven’t seen much for the anime cept a few screenshots and comparisons to the manga. This is what I think about the characters and plot watching it blind I guess.

Mei….bothers me. Characters like her I have an issue with because they always initiate the first move like kissing them or some shit and then are always confused about why the Protag is so confused and can’t control their emotions. I don’t usually watch romance anime like this in fact the only one I liked was My Little Monster and Sakura Kiss but that’s another thing. I get it Mei you and your dad have a bad relationship and haven’t seen him in five years and you live alone. Alright I get it but that doesn’t give you the right to fuck with Yuzu like that.

I’ve seen a post that Mei is literally sexually assaulting Yuzu and that it’s a toxic relationship but I don’t wanna go that far. Ill just chalk it up to anime being anime. It’s not the first time we’ve seen characters force a kiss but back to the topic on hand.

Mei in the anime is such an unlikeable character. In Episode 3 Yuzu sees that Mei’s stuffed animal is ripped and she sews it back together as if nothing happened. Later in the episode when Yuzu has to stay at school late to clean the bathroom Mei goes through her stuff and finds a Manga named Peach Sisters and confronts her about it saying stuff like “if someone saw you with this theyd be disgusted” or “you should be ashamed.” so Yuzu kisses her and says all this is happening because she kissed her.

Finally we address the situation. Yuzu is absolutely right. All the shit that Mei detests so much is all her fault. She could’ve engaged in conversation and at least put in the same effort Yuzu was putting in and they would’ve bonded making the “romance” between them understanding. But no. Mei just completely ignores Yuzu and gives her the short end of the stick.

In episode 3 Mei says the only reason why she kisses her multiple times in the other episodes is to shut her up. But in episode 2 when the two girls fall in water Mei kisses and licks Yuzu’s neck while Yuzu is thinking about why she kissed her and Mei says “You looked like you wanted me to touch you.”

So what’s the truth Mei? Are you taking advantage of your older sister or are you not?

I hate Sasuke so much. Mei is starting to get close to that amount of hate. Yuzu is doing mental backflips to figure out her feelings and what to do while Mei is doing everything except thinking.

Oh yeah in episode 2 when Yuzu AGAIN tries to make an effort on what’s going on with Mei offering to help, Mei throws her on the bed and starts ripping her clothes off only to be caught by Old Grumpy Gramps. Yuzu is expelled and Mei does fuck all about it while in other times Yuzu stood up for Mei. In the begining of episode 2 while Mei gets chewed out by gramps Yuzu stands in front of her and says “if you want to get mad at someone get mad at me. She has nothing to do with this.” Gramps doesn’t listen and at the end of the episode gramps has a well deserved heart attack. And who helps him? Yuzu.

I think I’ve ranted about Mei enough now onto Yuzu. In the first episode she monologues to us about how she talks about having boyfriend’s and kissing them when she hasn’t even had her first kiss yet. I did the same thing in high school and Im sure others have too.

Yuzu is a likeable character. She’s blonde and has personality and very well rounded I guess? I don’t have problems with her. If anything I feel bad for her because of what Mei puts her through. It’s not only Mei. Is this other girl too. I can’t think of her name. Like this has taken me a few days to write when it shouldn’t. I think her names Kono-something but well get to her later.

Harumin is Yuzu’s friend in the situation and has NONE of an idea pf what’s going on with Yuzu and Mei however she’s there to help and is a pretty good friend. In episode 5 they share an indirect kiss when Harumin feeds Yuzu something from her lunch and they do it so naturally. As platonic as the relationship may be I prefer theirs over Yuzu and Mei’s SOOOOOOO much more. If this show threw a curveball and ended with Harumin and Yuzu being a thing I would NOT be upset and id accept it as such but that’s not gonna happen.

Now onto the friend. Her name is Kono or Kokno but for now let’s just call Kono. So she’s got purple hair with girl pigtails thats in curls and she’s the vice president. She’s known Mei for what seems like maybe Kindergarten? I dont know which school years are similar to ours (Im from America) but that’s just my guess. So Kono has this disdain for Yuzu because she doesn’t conform to rules and is all of sudden getting close to Mei. So after episode 3 in episode 4 she keeps asking Yuzu what the two did some conference room or what not and Yuzu doesn’t tell her so in Kono’s….trial to assert dominace over Yuzu she goes and licks and touches Mei’s ear. That turns into Mei moaning and then Kono slides her hand under her skirt and the scene cuts away to the afternoon sky. Later in the episode Kono tells Yuzu to meet her at a cafe or something and the two talk and Kono says they “crossed a line” which DOES NOT sound good by the way. Im not sure if that’s the english translation of what she said or what but it doesn’t sound okay (Im watching Sub). So Kono lies and says Mei wants NOTHING to do with Yuzu and never wants to see her again. Yuzu’s already thinking “but we live together”.

This whole time Im thinking the two might’ve fucked or something BUT in the episode 5 Mei tells her Kono made advances at her and she told her no or something. Kono sees the two walking outside of school and Mei tells her to stop putting weird thoughts in her head and Kono is sad and stands there.

In episode 4, Mei tells Kono that she and Yuzu are step sisters FINALLY and anytime Yuzu tries to be a good older sister Kono sees it as making advances on her.

I don’t like Kono. She’s very annoying. Im not sure if she was like that in the manga or not but again Im going in this anime blind.

She’s honestly very annoying and that’s just how I feel. Gets in the way and just don’t like her character.

Mei and Kono? Can’t stand Mei. Kono is…slightly tolerable.

Yuzu and Harumin? I like them. They have better chemistry than the romance intended.

I cannot stress how much context Im sure im missing and I WANT to read the manga and know stuff but sadly that’s just not possible. If ANYONE could link me to translated versions of it online great. Now Im gonna talk about the plot of this.

I don’t watch romance. The only two I watched and liked was Sakura Trick and My Little Monster. In the show My Little Monster there was plot. However little it was there was still plot but it kept it entertaining to watch. Sakura Trick barely had plot at all but it had a storyline and had lots of lesbian kisses. More than the entire anime industry combined and that’s where the show got it’s charm.

Another show I watched and liked called Yuru Yuri. The girls start a club. That’s it. Don’t ask anything more of them.

Citrus? If you asked what the plot was…I couldn’t give you a simple sentence answer. Im not sure…where this anime is going. I know they’ll end up together dispite them being step sisters but for the plot right now I have no clue what or where it is. I think it’s just me being stupid but right now I can’t really think of a plot. The closest I can think of is “two step sisters who have some things to work out.”

I don’t have any….comments on the animation. Modern. Clean. Looks nice for 2018 animation. Nothing really striking except when Yuzu is in uniform she’s very pleasing. Color scheme wise I mean. It’s no Ancient Magnus Bride so….I guess I mean….animation is okay I guess.

Overall, I don’t hate the anime. But I don’t love it. I have issues with it and Im going to continue to watch it cuz I want to see where this will go. I want to see Mei’s character growth and I want to see plot. I want to see this get good and I want to like this anime and Ill stick around as long as I can. After a few more episode’s Ill do a part 2 on what I think.

For now….3 outta 10. I’d have to have a lengthy conversation with someone before recommending this to them.
