17. What highly specific AU do you want to read or write even though you might be the only person to appreciate it?

Oh god anon I am right there with you! I love love love AUs. I had a whole bunch for a while, but I'll just stick with one for now.

I really wanted to write ATLAswap where Xefros was the avatar (joey was an airbender, Dammek was an earth kingdom non-bender who was being maniplulated by the dai li, and MSPAR was the previous avatar that was friends with all the people xefros is on an adventure to meet). Marvus was the prince of the northern water tribe but after that, I got lost in what I wanted to write and couldn't figure out any sort of plot. I was mainly in it for prince otwt marv ;-; hamsome........

I really like the idea of the au, and if the fandom ever picks back up I may write it someday. But I doubt it will ever be anything more than discussion.

genuinely would love to know anything & everything u can tell me about every single character bc i am Completely Enthralled by this au, but if i had to pick one ig i'd say tyzias :)

Okay so Tyzias right? We love her. Awesome character we meet at Hiveswap friendsim, hopefully even cooler in AtlaSwap So I don't really have a detailed idea of what her background story was like. And, I say this quite often but i'm not very good at writting but hell I could try maybe? Maybe make it a hobby and make a fic of this Au on Ao3. Gotta be good at being bad at things sometimes.. Also because Im p much content starved so truthfully, I appreciate the asks in my inbox even though it took me a month to respond. sorry asker; Anyhow, so upon making this Au I want it to translate almost identical or what makes sense to their original selves in the Hiveswap Universe. That being said. I'm thinking Tyzias Entykk be a council member trying to influence the Earth Kingdom into being a bit more involved in maybe taking in refugees from other tribes and yes even fire nation refugees. Unfortunately, and understandably so, other earth kingdom council members would not be fond of that idea.

I really like Tyzias in friendsim where she is doing what she can to 'improve' the Alternian system into maybe being a bit less brutal and racists. Like she knows she can't make a significant change by herself. She mentions this in her good ending route. How she might not be able to do it but she trusts someone out there can.

How talented is MSPAR with their air bending abilities? I noticed they don’t have the typical airbender tattoos and couldn’t recall if they were only given when students became talented or if that was just them hiding their marks under their hoodie

I've given this some thought and I think..

MSPAR is not at all talented at airbending (in the beginning atleast!) or did they had any idea they were the avatar. I still remember air nomads give air nomad toddlers lil tests to see which one could be the potential avatar. But I wanna stick to the theme that MSPAR is 'not much to look at' even in this universe and therefore often times overlooked.

They lived a simple life amongst other nomads doing errands and chores here and there. Played with the kids and the bisons from time to time and was generally well liked in the temple.

Can you explain your AUs in a bit more detail? I’m curious to know what the deal is with the Abroad AU especially

Anon I’m putting it under the cut because it got longer than I anticipated but below the cut I go on for several paragraphs about the Abroad AU and gave you shorter synopses about the Nowhere to Run story idea I’ve mentioned somewhere before as well as my current ATLAswap AU brainrot.

Before I get into the meat of what the Stranded Abroad AU brief that it takes place in a timeline where neither Joey Claire nor MSPAR come to Alternia, primarily because this AU-slash-blueprint for a fanfic was something I primarily wanted to further explore Alternian society a couple of sweeps after the events of Friendsim and what life is like Post Alternia for the trolls who’ve since ascended. I’ve always wanted to see what else there was to Alternian life on the planet and what life is like off of it.

Stranded Abroad AU is going to primarily follow Tirona Kasund, roughly 8 sweeps now and is pretty much grown into your average legislacerator — she’s starting to study for finals for the Ordeals, she feels obligated to help her younger office mates to become better legislacerators, she hangs around with her friends (primarily her closest IRL Amisia, but she does also frequently talk to her long distance pals, Wanshi and Karako).

Where the story really kicks off is when Tirona falls back into old habits — explicitly the one of going to rush into a scene that seems suspicious without considering the danger that is associated. On an evening that’s otherwise typical, she finds an unauthorized ship in a location far from where landings and departures occur and, without hesitation, boards to investigate. She is unable to finish her investigation when it’s owners board, and is unable to escape before they take off. She becomes lost in space after taking an escape pod when discovered after they get to a Solar System primarily inhabited by a growing population of adult trolls.

Luck however is on her side when she crash lands and is found by Tegiri. His job as a recovareaper allows him a freer schedule than a typical legislacerator’s and ability to bypass certain checkpoints, and thus, allows him to undertake the job to sneak Tirona back to Alternia so she’s not stranded forever. They do run into some hiccups via Alternian laws as well, but they are able to rely on some allies in the long run.

Completely apart from that AU in its entirety, I have 2 other big AU story ideas I have that I can briefly talk about below.

The “Nowhere to Run” AU is a technical prequel to Stranded Abroad in the sense that I just think that an investigation to the violetblood that Polypa killed is bound to happen; Tagora, Tegiri, and Tyzias are reprimanded roughly a sweep after the assassination and are given a final chance to bring forth the culprit, or else they will be executed at the next Jeevik Week as a finale. They’re all challenged to keep a level head as they’re struck with the challenges of a cold case and trying to piece what together. This isn’t something that is necessarily needed to be read to understand Stranded Abroad, but it gives more background on the relationship that Tegiri and Polypa have.

And finally the baby that currently has my heart at the moment — the ATLAswap I’ve worked on and spoken heavily to with a good friend! In a world where the fire nation has announced the death of the avatar after killing nearly all of the air nation, it follows Vikare (an earthbender with the penchant to only bend what’s considered dust and a knack for all things metal) and his older sister Chixie (a non-bender who’s left home to join the Kyoshi Warriors) as they navigate through the world as the fire nation grows closer to creating a global empire it controls. Vikare records in his journals as the two find themselves on a journey where their slow growing group become something the Fire Nation cannot ignore.

You’re right about the test, I think it was being placed in front of a bunch of toys that previous avatars had as children and instinctively selecting the ones from the last four lifetimes. And that Aang only found at he was the Avatar so young because of the ear, otherwise the monks wanted to wait until he was in his teens/adult or so. It makes sense for MSPAR to be kept in the dark and enjoying a peaceful youth up until the powers that be get the plot moving!
