Colorless

These constructions are counterpoints to my saturated full color paintings. At times I feel a need to observe shapes alone in monochrome or in the clearly profiled relief afforded by a severely restricted palette; to see how, in the absence of color, light and shadow generate volume as they play over combined forms.

One may consider that the apparent and superficial ‘emptiness’ of these ‘colorless’ constructions creates spaces where one may endlessly dream, imagine, project, recall and journey.

Ces constructions sont des contrepoints à mes peintures pleines de couleurs saturées. Il m'arrive d’éprouver le besoin de voir les formes seules en monochrome ou dans le relief nettement profilé qu'offre une palette très restreinte; d’observer comment, en l'absence de couleur, la lumière et l'ombre génèrent du volume en jouant sur des formes combinées.

On peut considérer que le « vide » apparent et superficiel de ces constructions « sans couleur » crée des espaces où l'on peut sans cesse rêver, imaginer, projeter, se remémorer et voyager.
