By • Olalekan Fagbade JUST IN: One person dead as Motorcycle Riders, police officers clash Pandemonium broke out around Santos Avenue, Abule Egba, Lagos State, on Tuesday when police officers enforcing a ban on motorcycles in the state clashed with riders. The Lagos State Police Command, in a post on its official X handle, explained that the officers were attacked by the motorcyclists, popularly known as Okada riders, in a bid to stop them from enforcing the ban. According to the post, the officers justifiably used teargas to disperse the crowd and preserve their lives. The post said: ” A passenger in a tricycle, witnessing the use of teargas ahead, panicked and jumped out of the tricycle. “Sadly, an approaching Leyland tipper, with registration number AAB 376 CB, being driven recklessly, ran over her. “The driver of the tipper abandoned the scene while the vehicle had been recovered. Contact has also been established with the family of the deceased. Meanwhile, full investigation into the incident has commenced.”

None from Lekki tollgate – Lagos confirms mass burial for End SARS victims

The Lagos State Government has claimed that the bodies of 103 victims of #EndSARS protest in 2020 prepared for mass burial, were not from the Lekki tollgate. This was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday. The government claimed the bodies were picked up from different parts of Lagos like Ikeja, Ajah, Isolo, Ikorodu, etc. The statement also cited the jailbreak that happened at Ikoyi Prison and insisted no bodies were retrieved from the Lekki tollgate. It reads: “For the records, the Lagos State Environmental Health Unit picked up bodies in the aftermath of #EndSARS violence and community clashes at Fagba, Ketu, Ikorodu, Orile, Ajegunle, Abule-Egba, Ikeja, Ojota, Ekoro, Ogba, Isolo and Ajah areas of Lagos State. “There was also a jailbreak at Ikoyi Prison. The 103 casualties mentioned in the document were from these incidents and NOT from Lekki Toll-gate as being alleged.
