hi, can you please give me some advice on how to find trustable co-admins to help me run my rp?

Okay this can get a little tricky! So this is the internet right? How dow we know if we can trust the other person on the other computer if you’ve never met and or seen them before in real life. A lot of the time people have this problem where they’re really cautious about things they read or about people they interact with as well. One thing to remember is that the other person is trying to figure out if you’re trustworthy too. You can’t just ask someone “hey are you trustworthy?” because they can lie so easily. So one of the things you can do is just to kind of blindly trust that they will stick around and not flake out. One tip I have for any admin team is to have contact with them outside of tumblr on kik ( a mobile chat app ), skype ( chat only, no calls ), even use aim or msn w.e... Don’t give them any personal contact information like facebook or twitter. Just keep it to chat. Something that can be screenshot for proof later if need be. 

You will be able to tell if someone is going to be a good co-admin if they are a) just excited about the plot as you are, and b) if they are doing anything they can to help get it running. If they are willing to help, and are willing to do things when you ask them to. Then you will know if they’re a good co-admin. Once you’ve looked through all of the applications, look for someone who has been a (co)admin in the past, ask them to explain what they did and how they ran their rp. I wouldn’t choose someone with no admin experience if you’re nervous about people flaking. Or you could perhaps choose two admins that way if one flakes you still have the other to back you up. One admin could be someone you’ve known in the past and the other could be a new one.

If you don’t like the idea of finding someone you don’t know, find someone that you’ve rped with before or that you have talked to many times before. Ask friends to help. Part of being a good co-admin team is having some good chemistry between the two of you. If you’re able to work together your members will see that and will want to work with you too. 

Other than those tips I don’t really have any other advice for you. Please let me know if you need anything cleared up, or if you have further questions, it is a little difficult to trust people at first but after talking to them off tumblr, then you might become more comfortable. I hope this helped a little bit. I’m not really sure if it did.

Tip for RP Admins: When asking for an opinion or a review, be sure to check past opinions or reviews done by the person that you want to request from first. See if the way they do their opinions/reviews suit your liking or not. For example, you might be looking for someone who does detailed and long reviews. Or maybe you want someone who could point out all the mistakes you made. Be sure to know the 'style' of the reviewer/talk blog before you request! Also, it could help you avoid getting rude opinions.

What advice would you give to someone who was never created/admined an rp on tumblr before? (Just general advice, we're still getting our blog together and stuff.)

There are a few general tips I can give you regarding this:

Make sure that your plot is thorough. Nothing is going to turn off potential applicants like a confusing plot. If they're left with questions, they're going to be put-off. But don't make it too elaborate. If they have to sit there and read through an essay just to understand what's going on, they're going to be exhausted by the time they get to anything else.

Have a polished and cohesive theme. There are plenty of color schemes and theme recommendations for main RPG pages floating around the 'rph' tag. Keep it simple and clean-looking.

Don't let your page get cluttered. I know that some people like to use mascots but, depending on your roleplay, that's not necessary. Too many of your mascot's gifs on your page can just end up looking tacky if you're anything but a Hollywood RP. Just keep it simple. Also, don't answer irrelevant messages. If you get multiple messages that have the same basic message, pick one and answer it. 

Be organized. Make sure all of your links are easily acceptable. A navigation page is your best friend.

Be polite yet authoritative. Don't be rude to anons even if they deserve it. Don't be rude to anyone for that matter. But when it comes to your members, you do need to have a sense of authority otherwise they'll just walk all over you and won't feel as though there are rules. 

Like I said, these are just a few things. I could go further in-depth eventually if you need me to or if anyone else out there thinks that I should.

How do you make your rp uncliquey? Like what event could you do to make everyone interact? (Also if it will help you answer the question, it's a school rp)

I have a few suggestions, babe! Aside from these I also suggest you imposing at “reply to 2/3 starters before posting your own” kind of rule just to help with interaction! 

Question and Answer. So, for some reason or another(pending on what time frame your roleplay is in, you can link it with a holiday like Christmas, Thanksgiving ect) the school can assign everyone a partner. They must ask the partner a certain number of questions and come up with their own. This way members can do paras or gif chats of the characters interacting through this.

Residential trip. A school holiday away. Everyone gets assigned a roommate(or assigned a dorm) by the school. Pair people up who don’t normally talk, arrange tasks between dorms!

Masquerade. The school can have a masquerade event and it could even follow a certain theme(movies, time periods, ect) and everyone is required to take on a new persona. I think this works best if you base it off a certain thing(animated movies for instance), that way you can arrange a group chat and tell everyone to go in as their ‘new character.’ Everyone should keep it secret and that way they can interact with everyone.

I’ve done some of these in my own roleplay before and they went down a treat, I think they could also help with getting rid of cliques in your roleplay so I hope they helped!
