Afga Vista 400 - Expired 2017

Quên mất nên pull xuống ISO 200 cho đo sáng máy và dev để được chất lượng tốt hơn với film expired tuy nhiên chất lượng ra vẫn không tệ lắm trừ phần tint màu đỏ bị shift khá nặng ở điều kiện có nắng.

Điều kiện overcast là ổn định nhất còn điều kiện ánh sáng yếu có một ít ám màu xanh lá vào vùng tối.

Nếu lighting là tungsten/tungsten mimic từ LED thì sẽ ra full cam shift đỏ toàn hình và một chút xanh lá vào vùng tối.

Chung quy là không tệ lắm sau 3 năm không chụp film, lại cầm ngay cuộn hết hạn ư ư :))

Khá hài lòng với chất lượng dev và scan của Croplab, sau 2015 không dám quay lại Croplab và sau đó cũng không dám Llab luôn vì chất lượng giảm sút nhiều có lẽ do chạy số lượng lớn các bạn đốt film.

Note to self:

Luôn dev ở lựa chọn 35mm Big + TIFF ở Croplab, ở TIFF thì có thể adjust 1 tí tèo teo trong hậu kỳ digital, chí ít ra là white balancing, tint và highlight adjustment khi chi tiết vùng sáng chỉ overexposed 1 stops trở xuống, 1 stops rưỡi với film expired thì hem sure…

Không nên adjust shadow vì sẽ tạo thêm digital noise vào vùng tối để ôm nhau với grain, chưa kể sẽ bị washed vùng shadow.

Mốt tự dev chắc sẽ vui. Anyway cuộn sau sẽ toàn still life.

There’s no doubt about it, film is back. Whilst digital photography becomes increasingly accessible, many photographers find themselves rediscovering the creative satisfaction offered by analog photography. A trend that doesn’t seem to be taking an end anytime soon.

The photographer we would like to showcase in today’s article is Koudai (@koby03). Based in Nagoya, this portrait photographer showcases the versatility of film on his (meticulously kept) feed. His portraits have a natural, almost playful atmosphere to them which can only be described as a young, exciting, but simultaneously nostalgic feeling that is unique to Koudai.

Shooting with a Nikon F3, this is a perfect opportunity to inspect the differences in the film rolls he uses in his work.

  5 Film rolls you should treat your camera to:

Kodak Portra 160

Introduced in 1998, this roll was formerly named ‘Portra Natural Color’, for good reason. Probably one of the most popular films, this roll returns muted color palettes and balanced skin tones.

Use: Outside, daytime.

Kodak Portra 400

The Portra 400 rewards you with more vivid color, whilst keeping skin tones natural and the overall color palette muted. This is an incredibly popular roll as it is very forgiving in terms of exposures.

Use: Low-light, snapshots, all-rounder.

Kodak Ultramax 400

Characterized by rich saturation and fine grain, the Kodak Ultramax 400 is one of the cheapest rolls on this list. Daylight shots will give you bright blues and true greens and, whilst very ‘grainy’, this roll rewards you with an organic, old-school feeling.

Use: All rounder, pictures of friends, snapshots

  FUJICOLOR PRO 400H

This roll is often compared to the Portra 400 for it’s balanced color saturation and ease of use. However, this film has a unique character comprised of soft contrast, fine grain and a slight green tint.

Use: Low-light

  Afga Vista Plus 200

A cheaper alternative to Kodak and Fujifilm, this film returns rich tones when lit up and skews towards the blue/green color spectrum.

Use: Daytime, all-rounder

In the end, photos also depend on the situation. So the best bet is to try out different film rolls and see which work for your particular style.
