Frogs come in vastly different shapes, colors and sizes. Compare the clown tree frog (top photo), which is at most two inches long, with the Giant African bullfrog (bottom photo). Freaky and fabulous, right?

Goliath Frog

AKA Goliath Bullfrog, Giant Slippery Frog, Conraua goliath

The biggest frogs in the world!

These big boys can be up to 12 inches long and 7 pounds heavy! Wow! That sure is a big frog boy!

They are only found in a small region in Cameroon and Equatorial Guinea. They live in forests, generally near waterfalls!

Even though the adults are so big, their eggs and tadpoles are normal-sized. Talk about a growth spurt!

Because they're so big, they can eat a lot of stuff, including reptiles, mammals, and smaller frogs.

Unlike most frogs, they don't have vocal sacs, so they don't have mating calls to attract partners. I guess they use Grindr or something.

They're mainly threatened by hunting; they already have to deal with lizards and crocodiles preying on them, and humans love hunting them for food!

Like that's a straight up green tree frog.

Brennan probably said "giant bullfrog" bc gerard is like a man sized frog, but that phrasing naturally makes me think of the African giant bullfrog, pictured in the three images above. However, if they're really committed to the whole smooth green skin thing, they could have used an American bullfrog for his art

See the American bullfrog has that same smooth green traditionally froggy face with the big fat lumpy bullfroggy body.

Anyway I just am super autistic about frogs and dimension 20 so I'm nitpicking but it vaguely annoys me that Gerards art is a tree frog when Brennan always says Gerard is like a bullfrog whenever he doesn't just use the adjective frog-like

i constantly feel the need to mush my various interests together into 1 so heres stuff inspired by art dolls + frogs and snakes

1- The ball python is also called the royal python because supposedly it was worn as jewelry by "african royalty". im still not confident this is true because the sources seem to be like one white european saying this and then it being handed down from there. A lot of sources will state "cleopatra" owned one but royal pythons are not native to egypt, and egyptian pictures usually show egyptian cobras as associated with royalty. There were African empires that overlap with the ball pythons actual range, multiple, but I've had a hard time finding resources that seem legit on this. Anyway, its unclear how true it is but inspired by this I drew some characters (loosely) inspired by modern nigerian fashion wearing ball pythons.

2 and 3- just an idea i had to make dolls that are all herpetologists inspired by different frogs, i have a few on paper that these are inspired by. for some reason 2 turned into athletic wear. The frogs in 2 are in order: strawberry poison dart frog, red eyed tree frog and pumpkin toadlet. The frogs in 3 are: ornate pacman frog and pixie frog (giant african bullfrog)

today's funky frog of the day: the giant african bullfrog (Pyxicephalus adspersus)!!!!!! this is another one of those frogs that is very aptly named. as you can guess, they live in africa and are quite humongous. they are often kept as a pet!
