Changing over to Ep allowed me to refresh my thinking paradigms and open up myself to new ideas and analytical skills.  To get myself into the grove of EP i scoped out Kickstarter and found Wearbuds. Wearbuds is a new innovative tech that combines wearable tech with earbuds. The user can charge their earbuds through the wrist band it comes with. This enables the wearer to charge their earbuds on the go without being tied down through wires.

 Why does this artifact exist? What is its Purpose?

“World's First Wireless Earbuds Charged Right on Your Wrist.”- it sounds awesome, this artifact was invented to confront the problem when wireless earbuds came into the market. Wireless earbuds require constant charging thus tying you down to a wire and the power plug which tradition earphones didn't. Thus wearbuds allows not just a convenient and effortless way to store the earbuds but also charge them while on the go. It also answers the troubles of storing away the cases for the earbuds and losing the earbuds due to its bulky storage devices being inconvenient. Since this invention has come to the market it has moved from being just an invention to innovation. 

How useful will this technology be? 

“Wearbuds™ guarantees you an impressive sound experience with advanced dynamic drivers and the latest Bluetooth technology. Whether you are running in a bustling city or cycling in a crowded park, powerful music will transport you to a different world.”

This technology would be of quite use for consumers who are on the constant go, especially when exercising etc.  Thus AIpower the company who is developing this technology combined a fitness wearable with a portable earbud charging device “ Wearbuds™ is destined to redefine wearable audio by merging the wireless earphones and the fitness band together.” Thus the dual functions of the technology allow it to appeal to a wider range of consumers. Some of its features include heart rate monitor, step counter, etc. These are linked to your phone through an app on your phone.

Comparing and contemplating the insights of Winner and Wearbuds. I wonder what political aspects would be aligned with this new innovation. introduction of this new technology would bring about competition with existing brands such as the Airpods by Apple, Samsung galaxy earbuds and many branded earbuds. Looking at it economically, purchasing basic Wearbuds cost you below $100.00 USD but purchasing apple branded or Samsung earbuds with similar quality cost more over $200.00. 

As the product is on the verge to be realized into the retail market, many product reviewers “Youtubers” have gotten their hands on it to get first-hand use and experience of the product to see if all the claims made by the company are true or not.

Emerging Practices- Synthesis Formative

Synthesis refers to the creative concept generation of what does not yet exist {Buxton 2010}. In this report, you are asked to articulate a proposal for a future version of a social robot or device.

The wearbuds, the functionality of the device is split into two parts. Its main is that it houses and charges your earbuds and secondly, it acts as a lesser version of a Fitbit. It tells time (which it should as it is a watch), but the full capacity of the device still has to be iterated and developed on.

I looked at the synthesis of these devices through my own perception and the feedback i got from the short evolution i performed. Even though it is an innovative way to store and charge your earbuds, but once the buds are in your ears the watch loses its major factor and the watch loses some of its functionality.

Iteration 1

In this iteration, i looked at what features can be added to the watch to enhance its usability and increase its ease of use from the consumer's point of view.  Complimenting the main function of the device, a future iteration should include a way for the watch to sync with the phone's media player and display an interactive audio UI on the face of the watch. This will allow the consumer to be able to control their music without going back to their phone as this device is also marketed towards a wearable tech while exercising.

The watch can have many other features included in it but it marketed as an alternative to the wired charging and the discomfort of carrying a case for your earbuds etc. The level of features would depend on the structure of the device and if it can house the components.

Iteration 2

The size and design of the watch itself, it is designed for a particular look and seize. Thus another change or option the AIpower (the company that developed Wearbuds) could release different sizes in the watch. This product is all about consumer comfort thus moving into the future they can look at different designs maybe one for female and one for male.

6 Savvy Summer Travel Solutions

I get so much joy in helping fellow travel-lovers solve annoying problems and otherwise make their travels easier and more enjoyable.

Toward this end, I’m indelibly on the lookout for noteworthy innovations that can resolve common annoyances and foster fun and functionality while getting from point A to point B. #1 - Southern California Hilton Hotels / The Magic Castle Partnership 

First is a truly amazing travel option for those traversing through Southern California this year. SoCal Hilton guests now have coveted access to the iconic Magic Castle in Los Angeles! This unique Hilton partnership allows hotels guests the privilege to experience one of the most extraordinary and exclusive clubs in the world, plus a highly sought-after fine-dining destination in LA. While access to The Magic Castle is typically available only to members and invited guests, for the first time through the 2019 calendar year guests staying at participating Hilton hotels will be able to dine and see world-class illusion at the regal, Edwardian-era mansion in historic Hollywood. In addition to dining and viewing a variety of magical styles in multiple theaters, guests can also explore the property and enjoy drinks at one of five bars, including the Owl Bar or the Hat and the Hare Pub. Magic Castle is the most-recent, elite Southern California partner secured by Hilton to curate unique local experiences for hotel guests. As part of the Hilton and Magic Castle partnership, patrons must book at least six weeks in advance of their preferred visit date.
