I'm pretty sure it's a silicon gel coating that they use, specifically to make it feel smooth. There is a bunch of different types of silicone for use in different settings, but I've also found that some cheaper silicone utensils become gross and sticky after a few years too in exactly the same way. We don't actually own any silicone baking trays any more because they just got gross and difficult to wash.
The coating isn't going to be the same type of silicone as baking trays, which isn't the same kind of silicone as sex toys, which isn't the same kind of silicone as used in mould making.
I just wish they'd test their products durability in various climates. I don't live in the only part of the world that's hot and humid! and it's absolutely ridiculous that something as expensive as a wacom cintiq that you buy as an investment becomes fucking sticky in a few years.
Especially since the silicone doesn't actually do ANYTHING. The function of the tablet isn't bettered by the use of rapidly decaying silicone coatings, but when it decays and becomes gross that DOES affect it's use. It picks up dirt and dust and hairs and it becomes impossible to clean. And it's not even something I can easily replace! It's the entire top casing. It's not just the replaceable grip on the pen (which is also fucking sticky). I have to pull the whole thing apart and they don't sell those parts. So in order to keep using it I have to carefully apply baby powder every few weeks.
Same as the hair drier, and my hair straightener, and the remote control for the TV. It's the entire shell of it. There's no reason that can't be shiny plastic, there is no reason it needs to be silicone coated!
Not every house has air conditioning and making products that don't survive in the normal environmental conditions of an un-airconditioned house should be considered a design failure, not user error.
I am BEGGING companies to stop putting a layer of silicone over every fucking plastic object. Things are fine if they're not matte textured! It's fine I promise!
Silicone decays in high heat and humidity making it sticky, and I'm so fucking sick of having to cover everything I own, from my hair drier to my fucking cintiq in a layer of baby powder.
These things aren't even 5 years old!!! stop covering everything in fucking silicone!!!!!

Having no choice is easier. I stand in my sister’s 7th floor apartment and look at the buildings shambling away to the horizon, the punctured slash of the train tracks cutting through bricks and trees, and I don’t choose. It’s July. Almost a year spent holding my breath, waiting for it to start.
I don’t know what it is yet. No one’s told me what it’s supposed to look like. All I know is the logical path, the journey forward that makes sense. Go to school, exhaust yourself, finish school, go home, study abroad, come back, quarantine, go to your internship, quarantine, wake up at 6 am and let the coldness settle in your chest. Fear that this is all you have and ever will have. 
The wanting, I think, is unintentional. Maybe something your (ex)boyfriend doesn’t have. The hunger, the feeling that there’s something simmering right under the surface of your fingertips, boiling right in the furrows between your thumbprint ridges. That’s why you need the future. That’s why you read stories about other lives, why you cling to the possibility of future happiness, why you don’t mind boxing yourself in, building structure to climb, to reach towards an unforgiving sky, to hope that someday the clouds will break and rain and it will be easier, because you don’t have a choice. You have never chosen, and in a world without choosing, you have to cup the idea that someday the single-click decisions will filter their way into a future where you get to rest, and love, and sit in a place that doesn’t make you feel hollow. Otherwise, it’s all over. It’s never begun.
I have to wait for it to begin. The waiting and wanting keeps me alive.
I’ll keep shuffling along. Go home once I can, go to training, go back to school, kill myself for another semester, another year, another expanse of loneliness, another set of skills I’m not sure I care about. Keep slotting the decisions into their correct furrows. Keep holding the wanting in my mouth, keep my hands from shaking. I don’t know what else to do. I don’t know if this is just the way people have always grown up (desperately lonely, pulled from their bed in the middle of the night by a hunger so great it hurts) or if it’s just the lingering aftershocks of a natural disaster, rippling through my life, making each decision less of a way forward and more damage control. I don’t know if this is a trauma response, this feeling that you’re living around something else, that you inhabiting your experiences is secondary to those experiences happening. 
I talked to my mom on the phone yesterday. Sat on my sister’s aging hardwood and listened to the sound of summer through the phone: wind, dogs barking, the drone of cicadas. I grew up thinking- there will be a time when I’ll only have to listen to her through the phone, and I’ll get to carve out my own summer, when she will hear summer through my end and know that I’ve escaped, that I can breathe, that it’s all okay. Instead, I’m cold all over, listening to another summer turning over in a hometown that I haven’t replaced yet but no longer belongs to me. I let it go too soon. I didn’t have a choice, but the loss is cold anyway. 
I miss being a kid. I miss when the suffering was simpler, when I could name what was wrong. 
I’ll open the windows tonight, when the others have gone to bed, feel the humid press of July through the screen, the moisture saturating the cool, dry airconditioned room, just to feel it, just to remember.

The Air Conditioner
1.The air conditioner is a system for controlling the humidity, ventilation, and temperature in a building or vehicle, typically to maintain a cool atmosphere in warm conditions.
2. Willis Carrier created the air conditioner. Carrier was born in Angola New York and later on in life went to earn an engineering degree from Cornell University.In 1902 he developed the first modern air conditioner.
3. Air conditioners today use half as much electricity than they did in the 1990s. However, more than half the world uses it such as people in Asia, North America, South America, and so on, so, it has a large global impact as well. This means a larger carbon dioxide emission. 
4. Since air conditioners are used all over the world they have been manufactured in different places.They have been manufactured in the United States for almost over a century such as the first air conditioning plant called Carrier. Also, there is a Japanese based air conditioning company called Daikin that also manufactures its own air conditioners. Also, in Mexico there is a manufacturer called Rheem. 
5. The prices for conditioners vary. For example,  an LG air conditioner cost $159.00. An Edgestar conditioner cost $409.00. A Haier conditioner cost $254.99. To dispose of an air conditioner, in the States, you have to make an appointment to have the Department of Sanitation remove the chlorofluorocarbons. They will then tag the air conditioner and collect it on your next recycling day.
