So I just spoke with the very nice Renae from Amazon studios and she said her nieces love gmw and that the network would be silly not to consider picking it up, considering all the positive feedback they’ve been getting about it!
Hope is not lost yet and I’m sad to see that not many people are as active anymore, please keep going and keep requesting gmw at amazon studios and hulu!!!!

Listen Up Girl Meets World Fans!
Okay, GMW Fandom we need to have a chat. I haven’t been active over the last few months because I have a lot going on personally and professionally. However; that doesn’t mean I don’t care about GMW anymore. I’ve been quietly active in my own way for months.
I’ve called, emailed, and live chatted with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon about picking up the show. I made my planes4GMW paper airplanes for all four networks (the ones above and Disney). I reached out to my old boss at Disney (the VP of Disney’s in house creative agency) to see if he has any insight. He’s been kind of enough to answer my questions. What I’m saying is that I’m keeping my finger on the pulse of what is happening with GMW. I was doing it before the show was officially canceled and now I’m doing it to keep up with the effort to get the show picked up elsewhere.
When I saw everyone attacking Linda Ge, a prominent entertainment journalist, for her article yesterday I was disappointed, to say the least. I understand that Netflix was the first choice of venue for a lot of people but that’s not a reason to ignore what she is saying or to deride her abilities or integrity as a journalist.
As someone who worked in PR and Marketing for several years, I can assure you that there are numerous, numerous occasions on which someone in a corporation will anonymously give information to a journalist that they want the public to know without giving a quote or providing official confirmation from their company. That is how journalism works. Please, go read a newspaper; at least half of the articles will say “sources close to” or “sources deep inside the organization” “certain high ranking officials” etc. Journalism depends on the ability of a source to give information without revealing their identity. They may lose their job if their identity is revealed. A million things could happen. Sometimes it’s as simple as a corporation telling someone to approach a journalist but to retain anonymity because they want a piece of info out but they don’t want to publicly announce something. If I had to guess I would say this last possibility is exactly what happened with Netflix and Linda Ge.
As someone that now works as an editor for an online magazine, I can tell you that the process for getting an article published, especially by a legitimate source such as Yahoo, is incredibly rigorous. You need to confirm a story with at least three reliable sources. We don’t publish the additional sources or give readers their names, but you better believe both the journalist and the editor verified any story, especially one that breaks any type of news, with three sources.
There is no way Linda Ge wrote a story and got it published with false information.
Let me say this again: there is no way a reputable site like Yahoo would have published a story without verifying the veracity of the story first.
As for the people that contacted customer service at Netflix and were told it’s still possible; I think it’s wonderful that you’re attempting to be diligent. However, customer service is the lowest man on the totem pole of Netflix. Even when I worked for Guest Relations at Disney back in the day, there were many many times I knew information before it was officially announced to the public and if people asked me about it I was required to say no decision has been made, even if I knew a decision had been made and I knew what that decision was. My point is that 1) it’s likely that no one has told customer service what’s happening 2) it’s likely that even if customer service does know they are only allowed to say that no decision has been made and nothing is confirmed because that’s what corporate wants them to say.
Now, why would corporate want customer service to say nothing is confirmed? Most likely they aren’t planning on making an official announcement about not picking the show up. Networks and streaming platforms make announcements when shows are canceled but networks rarely, if ever make actual official announcements when they aren’t picking a show up. I can think of one example of a network/streaming platform that made an announcement about not picking up a canceled show. It very very rarely happens. If a network isn’t planning on announcing anything they aren’t going to have any of their representatives say anything because that defeats the purpose of not making an announcement.
To sum up: Linda Ge is Netflix’s announcement. They sent someone to her with the story, she was able to verify the story with other sources within Netflix (again the story wouldn’t be published if she couldn’t verify it with at least three sources). It was a back door way of letting us know what is happening and where we should be concentrating our efforts.
Look, I know Netflix got thousands of requests to pick up Girl Meets World. In the real world, that isn’t enough. Disney and Netflix have a very tense relationship as it is. They’ve had a tense relationship for a few years now. I have my Disney sources that say Disney Channel PR is freaking out and pushing for them to 1) either backtrack and renew GMW for a fourth season (I know for a fact that they’ve gotten a lot of complaints and parents saying they’re going to cancel their subscription to Disney/disney on demand or change their cable package to a less expensive one that doesn’t include Disney because they were only keeping it for GMW) or 2) sell the rights to any interested party. I know that my old boss was brought in for a few sessions related to GMW’s future over the past two weeks.
Things are not as bad as they seem. Netflix is 99.9% a no go. We need to be concentrating on platforms where we actually have a chance. This means Hulu, Amazon and I know people won’t like this but it also means Disney Channel. The rights are an issue regardless of where the show goes. Even though Hulu is owned by Disney, Disney Channel would have to sell the rights to Hulu because of the way Disney, as a company is structured. Lines of Business and separate entities under the Disney umbrella do not share money. What one entity earns or owns is not transferable to another Disney entity without a contract and financial exchange (the same way one would be required if it was going to a non Disney entity). What I’m saying is that the rights matter for Hulu as much as they do for Amazon. Even if you don’t want to target Disney Channel for renewing GMW (which is a possibility) you still need to target them for selling the rights to Hulu or Amazon.
I get that Netflix was the preferred platform for a lot of people. If I could pick anywhere for GMW to live I would pick Netflix. But we’ve been given a gift. Someone at Netflix (along with Linda Ge who has been a big fan of Girl Meets World for a long time and gave us the wonderful Jacobs interview last week and only wants to help our cause) decided that the best way for our campaign to succeed is for us to have as much information as possible so we can build and execute the best campaign possible. Netflix wanted this info out so we could make our Hulu and Amazon and Disney Channel efforts stronger and not waste time or resources on a platform that isn’t feasible.
You don’t have to believe Linda and you don’t have to believe me. This post pretty clearly spells out the way things work from the corporate side of giving journalists info anonymously as well as how the editorial and publication process works. It isn’t easy to get something published by a reputable source (which Yahoo News is, FYI). What I will ask is for all of you to stop attacking Linda. I ask all of you to stop thinking you know how the journalistic process works if you’ve never worked in journalism. I will ask you to stop pretending you understand how corporations and companies release information to journalists anonymously if they want a piece of information leaked.
If you still want to target Netflix that’s your choice. However, the wisest course of action is to target Hulu, Amazon and Disney Channel with everything you have. If you want to throw Netflix in there go for it. If you forego targeting Hulu, Amazon or Disney Channel in favor of targeting Netflix you are doing a disservice to saving the show we’ve all loved for three years. Putting the show ahead of your personal beliefs and desires to see the show on one particular platform is paramount.
Let’s continue to fight together to give this show the best possible chance of survival. The cast and crew deserve that from us, let’s not disappoint them.

@netflix @hulu @amazonvideouk @amazon @netflixuk @netflixseries
As I'm sure you've heard, Girl Meets World, Disney's current most popular show, has been cancelled after just 3 seasons. The show is not ready to be over, it has not taught us, the viewers, all we need to learn, and we are not ready to say goodbye to these characters who have come to mean so much to us in such a short amount of time. Should you have the ability to pick up and continue Girl Meets World, I encourage you. You would have the audience ready made, and I can assure you that it would not be a mistake or a loss on your part, rather you would be gaining credit to this show that is so incredibly special and has touched so many, so please, consider picking up this show.  Riley still has so much of the world to meet, as do we.
Yours sincerely,
The Girl Meets World Fandom

To everyone who is fighting to save GMW, this was my conversation with an Amazon rep today. She was professional and reasonable with her feedback on my request. With that in mind, please be skeptical of suspicious looking emails or conversations (ex. ones with numerous spelling errors or information that is just too good to be true).
Go here and have a chat with them yourself! Make sure you get your request in for GMW to get picked up as an original show!

Why the fuck did Netflix not pick it up?
Right now it is not 100% confirmed (the the source is trustworthy) , but that article is why everyone needs to keep fighting for other outlets. Send to netflix, Hulu, and Amazon ^.^
Don’t give up guys. It’s not over until all doors are closed.
This is a marathon. and you got to keep running to win.

Conversation
All of this has happened before...
NBC, May 2014: *cancels Community*
Entire Community fandom: NOOOOOOO! *bombards Netflix customer service by the thousands with pleas to save the show*
Variety, May 2014: Netflix will not be saving Community.
Community fandom majority: That is not true. There isn't a real source! Don't believe Variety! CS reps say they're gonna make an announcement! Our voices are being heard!
Community fandom minority: Hey everybody, we need to move on and try harder at other places because Netflix is out.
Community fandom majority: NO IT'S NOT *links to Netflix live chat screenshot*
TVLine, June 2014: Talks at Hulu to save Community have broken down.
Community fandom: *gets crazy crazy lucky when Yahoo Screen shows up out of nowhere at the last second*
Netflix: *never did make an "official announcement" about not picking up Community*
Cory Matthews: Learn from the past...
Me: I'm seriously not trying to be mean, nor would I do anything to hurt GMW's chance at a pick-up. Continue to lobby Netflix if you must. I know people aren't gonna let it go. I wanted Netflix as much as any of you, because I wanted what was best for international fans too. But based on past experience and current knowledge I am BEGGING YOU...for every one thing you do towards Netflix, do two each for Hulu and Amazon who have NOT given a hard no on the matter to the press. Because I dunno about you, but even though it's technically possible...I'm not holding my breath for a Yahoo to come out of nowhere in the end.
In conclusion: Do what you want, but seriously? Do👏NOT👏sleep👏on👏hulu👏and👏amazon👏‼️‼️

Paper Airplanes for Girl Meets World
--------PLEASE CLICK HERE FOR THE LATEST INFORMATION. We are redirecting Netflix efforts to Amazon.--------
Español Portuguese (summary only) Hebrew
The Basics:
Make three paper airplanes, each one small enough to fit in an envelope.
Send one to Hulu and one to Netflix requesting that they acquire Girl Meets World and produce new episodes. Then send one more to Disney Channel asking them to please sell the rights if someone offers.
Decorate the outside of the airplane and write your message inside. Be as creative or as bare bones as you like, and remember: there is nothing wrong with a simple airplane made out of notebook paper.
Mail your airplanes on the Monday after the finale, January 23, or at any point that week. The aim is to have most of our planes “land” at Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Channel the Friday after the finale or around then. Don’t be discouraged if you aren’t ready on Monday January 23rd, because you can still mail in your airplanes the next day, or even the day after that…but let’s all aim to mail them on the 23rd. To fans outside the U.S.A.: if your post takes a while to reach California, please feel free to put your airplanes in the mail early.
If you can only afford to send one or two airplanes, that’s okay too! Just choose between Netflix, Hulu, and Disney Channel. Please don’t feel like you can’t participate at all just because you can’t do all three.
Before we mail them in, share your airplanes and the messages inside on social media using #planes4gmw. If you’re on Instagram/Twitter, tag @planes4gmw in the photo! And don’t forget to follow this Tumblr for updates. Follow the campaign on Twitter and Instagram too!
Hulu 2500 Broadway Santa Monica, CA 90404
Netflix 100 Winchester Cir. Los Gatos, CA 95032
Disney Channel Attn: Gary Marsh, President 3800 W. Alameda Ave Suite 2151 Burbank, CA 91505

Tumblr media
The Why:
It’s relatively easy to tweet, sign an online petition, write a comment, send an email, or even just make a phone call. While those actions are key, deploying an old-school tactic like this one takes the #SaveGMW campaign to the next level. Adding a physical component demonstrates just how dedicated and serious we are about trying to save our show. Some of the most successful “save our show” campaigns have integrated a physical component, like when thousands of Friday Night Lights fans sent lightbulbs to NBC.
We chose the paper airplanes idea (submitted by a no longer anonymous fan) because it’s simple, cheap, representative of both shows, and most importantly: easy for even the youngest Girl Meets World fans to participate in, which is important because while GMW has a big grown-up fanbase, young fans are the heart of it all. All you’ll need is some paper, three envelopes, and postage. (You may also need markers and crayons and stickers, depending on how artistic you want to be).
What to Say:
To all three companies:
A sincere personal reason for why you love Girl Meets World so much you’re willing to fight for it.
Your age and location.
To Netflix and Hulu:
If you or your parents are already subscribers, let them know. If you’re not, tell them you’ll subscribe (or beg your parents to do so) if they save our show.
Talk about how Girl Meets World fits in with their business models and goals. If your whole family watches together, mention that. If you’re an international fan who isn’t able to watch live, mention that (particularly to Netflix). If you’re a cord cutter who watches the show the day after on Amazon/iTunes but not live, mention that.
To Disney Channel:
I know we’re all angry at them right now and a lot of us have probably made that known already, but be polite. If you don’t feel like you can be polite, maybe skip this one.
If you (or your parents) plan on unsubscribing from premium cable packages which include Disney Channel (or have already) due to the show’s cancellation, say so. If your family plans to stop watching the network due to GMW’s cancellation, say so, especially if you have family members in their primary demographic.
Appeal to their bottom line, aka their pocketbooks. Say that you understand Disney Channel has their reasons for the decision they made, but suggest that perhaps they can make some money they otherwise wouldn’t have off of selling the rights. Mention also that selling the rights so the show can continue elsewhere would garner goodwill towards their company.
How to Help Spread the Word:
Use the hashtag #planes4gmw on social media. Reblog this post! Share the link to this post as well as the Twitter and Instagram: @planes4gmw. We will also attempt to get this campaign trending on social media during the finale as well as the day after.
If you can make graphics/digital fliers to promote the #planes4gmw campaign, please do so. If you can make printable decorated airplanes for others to print out, write on, and mail, do that! (And please send them in to be shared here). Any talent you can contribute is appreciated.
Share your planes and (if you choose) the messages inside on social media before mailing day! Use #planes4gmw, as well as the other campaign hashtags, and if you’re sharing on Instagram/Twitter tag @planes4gmw in the photo.
Tell your friends! Maybe even get together to make your airplanes. If you watch the show with your family, ask them to join you too.
If you are bilingual in English and something else, please translate this post or at least the most important parts of it, then send in the link so we can add it here.
Managing Expectations:
While we’re all hoping our combined efforts result in the rescue of Girl Meets World, there are no guarantees. However, we definitely have a shot here. More and more cancelled shows these days are getting second lives elsewhere. If Disney Channel is willing to play ball, we may have a real chance at seeing Girl Meets World grow up. It’s worth a try.
It’s a long shot, but it’s still a shot. So don’t throw it away. Know that it’s good to fight for something you truly believe in, even if you might fail. Hope. Dream. Try. Do Good.
Let’s fly thousands of airplanes through this window of opportunity while it’s still open.

Note
You do realize that people are campaigning for Netflix because that is what they have and that is what they can afford they can't afford to subscribe to Hulu or Amazon as well and they already have Netflix because it is the cheapest option and has the most shows avaliable for them. And GMW is already on Netflix so it makes logical sense to continue it there.
Netflix is 99.9% not an option anymore. See my post to understand why. It’s very clear and very accurate and should answer most of your questions.
To address some of your points: I do get why people want it to go to Netflix. Honestly, Netflix was my first choice too. We need to target the platforms we have the biggest chance of being successful at. Netflix is not one of those platforms.
There will always be ways to watch episodes, if the show continues. I get that affordability is an issue but Hulu is $7.99 a month. You can also get a 7 day free trial and binge watch the season if you don’t want to pay. Amazon prime has a free 30 day trial you could join and binge watch the show if it goes there as well. There are ways to watch the show in an affordable way even if it doesn’t go to Netflix (and let’s be clear: it isn’t going to Netflix).
Seasons 1 and 2 being on Netflix have no bearing on them wanting the show. They have a contract with Disney to show that show. They didn’t pay the production costs for the show. Picking a show up that’s been cancelled is vastly different cost wise and than paying to show past seasons of a show on a different network. It’s incredibly more expensive to produce a show than it is to show past seasons. They also have to consider other factors like other Netflix originals (Fuller House would be threatened if GMW moved to Netflix, for example). Oh yea, Hulu is also cheaper than Netflix.
There are a lot of moving factors here. Beyond all of the nuances involved in a business transaction like this, we need to be selfless and get the show saved wherever we can. We can’t be selfish and focus on platforms that are unlikely to pick the show up just because that’s our personal preference.

You can find every show on free streaming sites, even netflix originals. I'm from europe and I always watch netflix shows even if I don't have netflix and I always found a way to watch gmw sometimes even before the episode officially came out so I don't think that it would be a problem if hulu or amazon pick the show. The important thing is to save the show,it doesn't matter where. I would prefer netflix too but if it isn't a option anymore ok,there are other platforms.
Yep, 100%.

I hope the cast finds this
Dear girl meets world. I saw some other people do this so I thought I would write you my appreciation. I was around nine years old when gmw came out. I looked forward almost every week to watch the adventures of riley and maya and all their friends. MJs main goal was to teach kids something in every single character. Maya Penelope Hart taught me that being broken cant stop you. You can dream and do what you love even if sometimes you don’t want to get out of bed. That no matter what happens I can still be a fierce Amazon warrior and no one can break me. And that being small is not something to be ashamed about. Don’t just live in this world thrive in it. Zay Earl/Frank babexnogh (I can’t spell his last name to save a life) taught me that laughter is always the best medicine. If I am ever sad I will always remember Zay and his comedic ways. But most of all I will remember to never let anyone steel my cookies. And if they do thanks to Zay I will no how to complain about it. Farkle Minkus taught me thag being weird is amazing. Originality is something wonderful. i have learned from him that friends are one of the most important things a person could have. I will always have Farkle Time in my heart forever. Lucas taught me that my past doesn’t control me. And having good looks doesn’t automatically say who you are. Stay kind stay smart and no matter what always wear a blue shirt. Lucas Friar we never learned your middle name. A secret I wish I knew. Riley taught me to be optimistic. She showed me that as long as I hope for things there is always a possibility that things will turn our right. As long as I keep dreaming Pluto will always be a planet. At least to me. Thank you Riley. I hope you know that you made a difference. Mr. Matthews taught me that every lesson has something that we can learn from. Something that can change our lives. That history is not just names and dates. Thank you Cory I will forever be grateful. Ava and Auggie taught me that being a child is an amazing thing. And no matter what keep that child like wonder inside me forever. And no matter how many you are. That little child should always run inside you looking for CHEESE. Thank you everyone for making GMW. I hope you stumble across this actors and actresses. I hope you read this. I hope you know how thankful I am. I can’t wait. Its my world now. I’m not ready. You should see my face when I walk by my parents. But either way. Thank You. You can send me my subway card in the mail
I really want the cast to read this so please try to get this to them @lucayafever23 @kacie-ville @rowanblanchardxx @theowldetective @thenightxisntxalwaysxaxmystery
