Figure-Rise Amplified Paildramon

I'm torn, because by all accounts this is a great kit. It does so many cool things, and Paildramon usually doesn't get as much love as its older brother, Imperialdramon, but I have two minor complaints. The first is that we are, again, retreading series we've already covered, and doing other forms of Digimon we've already covered on top of that. I understand this somewhat coincides with Adventure 02 The Beginning, but that doesn't negate that we haven't had any releases from Frontier, Xros Wars, Ghost Game, or Appmon.

Secondly, this is one of the toyetic designs, meaning it's one of the ones I have a vested interest in. Paildramon was designed so that a toy could be made where you have a base ExVeemon and a Stingmon that comes apart to form armor for it to become Paildramon. And I was really hoping that they would homage that in this design; we get the two separate ExVeemon and Stingmon that combine, like how Imperialdramon could change modes and possibly in preparation for stuff from Xros Wars or for Susanoomon. But that's not what we got. We just got a straightforward, but very strong model kit.

The Good: Fantastic construction all around. Some interesting joint construction, excellent parts layering, hard sticker wings, several added gimmicks. Paildramon has wire tethers for both the spikes on the backs of its wrists. It's also able to combine its two Desperado Blasters into a single giant cannon. It is a bit heavy, but a single arm can easily give it that little extra it needs to stay afloat.

Its posibility is also very strong. The arms are designed to work through their weird design, and each individual finger is articulated. It's got a good head, waist, and hips, decent knees and ankles, and its wire tail can curve just enough to imply motion in a certain direction. It's wings also have a fair range to them, and look good in most positions.

The Bad: I do wish the posability in the legs was a little better. It's fine, but you might want a stand for wide-legged poses. Also, in order to use the tethers, there's a part you need to put in between the arm and launcher. I feel like that could have either been an innate piece, considering this is a redesign, or could have slid out of the arm.

The Details: Like with my other Digimon kits, I did the majority of the panel lining in metallic red, with the blue skin parts being done in black, and the red parts in metallic blue. I used black, gold, and silver to fill in the eyes. There were a few areas like the barrels and palms where I used black to fill in certain areas. I also added some silver details to the choker, chest, and the sides of the Desperado Blasters. Speaking of that choker... anyone else get serious e-boy vibes from Paildramon? Choker, vest and no shirt, shorts. I just... I just got that vibe while working on him is all.

Overall, despite my expectations being way out there, it's still an extremely solid kit. Easily better than Imperialdramon, and a solid recommendation from me.

Figure-rise Amplified The Winged Dragon of Ra

I've sided Sphere Mode. That's about all I can say about my interactions playing this card in the actual game. But even if I'm not the biggest fan of FRA doing the same thing with Yu-Gi-Oh! as with Digimon and only covering the old, nostalgic stuff, I actually really like these designs, and am happy they've revealed they're doing all three of the Egyptian Gods.

The Good: I give this thing a lot of credit for being almost entirely a single color, yet still not looking monotonous. While it's a little tough to pose, it also has a lot of range, and is capable of forming a pseudo Sphere Mode if you're like me and played that version of the card.

The Bad: The joints on the wings don't fully close up, and don't feel or look great. I wonder about their longevity.

The Details: I did a lot of panel lining to bring out all of its details (I tested my liner on the sprew since I've had problems with liners and gold plastic before). Apart from that, I painted the eyes red, and... I think that's it? As I said earlier, it's a pretty monotonous design when it comes to colors.

Overall, cool, pretty kit. Wings are a bit weird. And they've already announced they're doing Obelisk and Slifer, with a physical prototype of Obelisk having been shown off at recent toy shows. And you can bet your buttons I'll also be building those.
