Analia Saban 'Copper Tapestry(Riva 128 Graphics Card, Nvidia 1997')
I saw this in person and it FLOORED ME(literally! I sat down! That's against the rules!) But in a really beautiful fucked up way, it doesn't photograph like AT ALL, even the pro photos don't do them justice AT ALL ... the amazing shimmer of the gold threads, the way the whole image disappears and reappears depending on the angle... It's so big but somehow mirrors the delicacy of the device it depicts... the fact that it's a fucking GPU...
UGH. here's my addition, the curation text from the National Gallery.

Curation Statement
Imbalanced is an exhibit featuring the works of Phlegm, Matthew Stone, Analia Saban, Rashid Johnson, and Antonio Saura. It takes a look into the world of people struggling in society. This group of work can be interpreted differently and the meaning molded by each individual. I chose these artworks because they have limited colors and work well together showing different feelings. The exhibit space is in an abandoned mansion that is slowly crumbling apart and losing its balance between nature and man. The works themselves are not symmetrical in this space, but rather have one side with two artworks while the opposite side is empty which follows the theme of being imbalanced.
The theme imbalance comes from the feeling of having disorders or disabilities in society. Throughout the life of someone who experiences chronic illnesses there is a constant feeling of uneasiness and being unsteady or imbalanced. The five pieces of work each spoke to me about the experience of having medical issues in a world not built to have them. I chose these pieces because for each person they are versatile and have multiple possible interpretations. The abandoned mansion fits the theme not only because of its physical nature, but its symbolic nature as well. Society has turned its back on this beaten down mansion and left it to further be destroyed throughout time. As society ignores those in need over and over it is slowly breaking them down and they get farther and farther away from recovery. These pieces also show the different ways someone might be affected by this and the differences in how to escape it.
Imbalanced is an exhibit that everyone can gather at and view to know they are not alone in their experiences. Each piece spreads a message if you are looking for it.

I did an analysis on two art pieces I saw when I went on a field trip to the art museum MoMa. The first art piece is a series of charcoal drawings created by Georgia O'keeffe. The second piece is a tapestry created by Analia Saban. Some of the things included in my analysis is some information about the pieces, what I have observed, and what I like about them.
