A great grandson of Elizabeth Woodville, through her son , Thomas, from her first marriage to Sir John Grey, he married Frances Brandon, daughter Henry VIII’s sister, Mary, so their children, three girls named Jane, Katherine and Mary, had a claim to the throne. Henry Grey was prominent in Henry VIII’s court, taking…

medieval/early modern history is a fun game of "Where Did That Earldom Go?" where you have to follow a chain of biography citations, genealogical trees, and wikipedia pages for old men who died childless to figure out where the hell that earldom got to, and if it even remained an earldom
#🗡️#anyway#the earldoms of surrey and nottingham came free with the dukedom of norfolk!#in the early fifteenth century that is#they found their way into the hands of richard duke of yorfolk (york and norfolk)#but richard died young thanks to a certain richard iii who shall not be named#so the titles were given to the closest living relatives of richard (the younger)'s deceased wife anne de mowbray#of whom there were two: john howard and william berkeley#both were already barons#berkeley got the earldom of nottingham#howard got the dukedom of norfolk & earldom of surrey (generally conferred upon the son of the holder of the dukedom)#howard lost his life along with his estates at bosworth but his son (and grandson) later regained the dukedom#berkeley died childless and disinherited his brother so the title reverted to the crown#henry fitzroy was given the title of earl of nottingham#he also died childless!#the title eventually made its way into the hands of... guess who?#yeah it was the howards

Ingleside rang with laughter from dawn to sunset. Even when the older children were in school Shirley and Rilla were big enough now to keep up the tradition of laughter. Even Gilbert laughed more than usual this fall. "I like a dad who can laugh," Jem reflected. Dr. Bronson of Mowbray Narrows never laughed. He was said to have built up his practice entirely on his owlish look of wisdom; but Dad had a better practice still and people were pretty far gone when they couldn't laugh over one of his jokes.

TMP/Magnus Kickstarter Update
Hi all! We just got a huuuuge Kickstarter update, and I thought I'd share the TL;DR that we (the mods of Statement Remains) put together to give people a hand navigating it!
TMP News - The digital premiere will be available on October 22nd for backers at the Archival Assistant level and above, and for Knight & Noble Patreons. - It will include a preview of The Magnus Protocol pilot episode and some exclusive bonus content. - The audio of the preview episode, without the extra content, will be released to KS backers at the Researchers level and above on 31st October.
- There will be a post-premiere livestream on Twitch with cast and crew, sometime after the 31st
- All the pre-launch previews will be exclusive to backers and patrons, but the official debut (in January 2024) will have new content not seen in the previews (including the full orchestral debut)
- The double length pilot episode releases Jan 2024, with a weekly release schedule following (and a 2 week break every 10 episodes)
- They are currently finalising script drafts for season 1, writing for seasons 2 and 3, doing primary recordings for episodes, and editing the Pilot episode
Casting Announcements - Meet Alice Dyer, played by Seer Pink (they/them). You may know Seer from streaming/tiktok -- this is their RQ debut! - Meet Samama Kahlid, played by Shahan Hamza (he/him). Shahan has previously played Siva in Trice Forgotten!

There are "multiple returning friends and enemies from The Magnus Archives", but revealing them now would be a spoiler!
Making-Of Documentary - The documentary is well underway! - It will feature candids from meetings, interviews, and video diaries from Jonny and Alex! - The full version will air after the series is concluded, but a teaser segment will be released alongside the premiere!
ARG Updates - Official start date: **15 September**
- Far larger scale than the mini-ARG, featuring both digital and in-person elements - Will feature lots of worldbuilding and exclusive story that will provide an even deeper insight into the world of TMP
- Bookmark https://themagnusprotocolarg.com! This will be the main ARG hub! - Questions about the ARG can go to [email protected]. They will not provide hints/help solve the puzzles.
- Important note from the ARG site: Participants of this ARG must be over 18 for legal reasons.
Mic Updates - The Podcast Pro mics are nearly ready to start shipping. They are finalising packaging and etching the finished microphones!
---
And a quick note from me on behalf of the SR server! We're currently looking for mods to bolster our team, so that we can feasibly host the ARG solving efforts! If you're interested, you can join the Discord here: https://discord.gg/h6bkdqc5yd

Map of Prince Edward Island (LMM Universe)
Got bored and made this! See below the cut all my reasoning for where everything is placed :)
Avonlea & Adjacent
Avonlea - Real life inspiration 'Cavendish,' landmarks all have counterparts. Where Green Gables is.
Bright River - Real life inspiration 'Hunter River.' Where the train station Anne is picked up from.
Carmody - Real life inspiration, 'New Glasgow,' bigger than Avonlea, shops and hotels. Where the Avonlea people go shopping.
Spencervale - In the general area of Carmody and Grafton, mingled with Cavendish.
Grafton - Same as above.
White Sands - On the shore, inspired by 'Cavendish Beach or Brackley Beach.' Where the rich Americans gather.
Glen & Adjacent
This was kind of difficult because there's no formal inspiration for Four Winds, but the area known as 'Alberton' makes the most sense logistically, with the distance of 60 miles from Avonlea, and a harbour.
Glen St. Mary - Near Four Winds Lighthouse, and Harbour Head
Harbour Head - Across from the sand bar opening
Lowbridge - About an hour drive from Glen
Mowbray Narrows - In the general area
Over-Harbour - Across the harbour; freezes over in winter
Other
Summerside - A real place.
Blair Water - Close to Summerside. Where Emily lives.
Charlottetown - A real place.
#this took a ridiculous amount of time#anne of green gables#lm montgomery#prince edward island#avonlea#summerside#charlottetown#glen st. mary#four winds#rillasdiary

The Magnus Protocol casting just dropped and it turns out it’s perfect time to interest you all in different RQ podcasts.
Shahan Hamza (Sam) and Lowri Ann Davies (Celia Ripley) are in Trice Forgotten. It’s wonderful story about captain Alestes and her growing crew who undertake many tasks and risks to try and earn some money while Alestes’ past comes back for her. It have pirates, found-family and amazing music. It is also very gay. (You can also hear there your other RQ voices like Alex Newall, Tim Meredith, Fay Roberts, Lydia Nicholas and many more)
Ryan Hopevere-Anderson (Colin Becher), Kazeem Tosin Amore (Teddy Vaughn), Sarah Lambie (Lena Kelley) and Ellie Dickens (Lady Mowbray) are in Cry Havoc! Ask Questions Later. It is Roman comedy that takes place after Caesar’s assassination. Mark Antony and Gaius Octavius try to rule Rome while being completely broke and Cleopatra comes to visit. It have amazing jokes, theatre, pirates, lesbians, cult and much more! Eleventh episode was just released so it’s perfect time to join and listen.
If you are wondering about actors from TMP cast you don’t know, I highly recommend to go check out these podcasts. They are really amazing. Additionally you will be able to listen to voice actors and believe me, they’re very talented bunch.

just finished the latest protocol, and what in the fuck?
So Alice clearly recognizes the "Drowning Victim" who seems to be connected to what ever was going on with the tattoo in 11.
The noble, Lady Mowbray is also interesting. From my 5 minutes of googling and Wikipedia skimming, there was a House of Mowbray in England. The house is still around, but something interesting is Anne de Mowbray
Anne de Mowbray, was married incredibly young (age 5) to the Duke of York, Richard in 1478. the same Richard who was locked in the Tower of London with his brother. So unless there's no connection (completely likely knowing Jon "name everyone important Michael" Sims), this could be huge.
As of right now, there's too little to go off of, and knowing Jon and his naming conventions, it's just as likely that this is an easter egg similar to the names of the Archive staff (everyone shared part of their name with a famous horror writer, Tim Stoker-Bram Stoker, Melanie King-Stephen King, etc.). But it's just as likely that it means nothing, or means everything.
Then there's the fact that she seems to be an avatar of a mix of Hunt and Slaughter, just as the Buried and the Vast seemed to have been combined into the Deep (my pet name for it based entirely on the great beast under the sea from 11), Lady Mowbray seems to be a Hunter who brings Slaughter. Maybe I'm looking too deep into this, especially because Archives 112 is a similar situation to this, but still. The Hunt and Slaughter have always been intertwined to some degree or another, but it is odd that the Hunt seems to have one when it always led to Slaughter.

MORE ON ELIZABETH WOODVILLE'S LOST CHAPEL, LITTLE ANNE MOWBRAY AND THE WOMEN OF THE MINORIES
While researching my novel on Anne Mowbray, the child bride of Richard of Shrewsbury, younger of the two Princes in the Tower, I found out several things I was previously unaware of. I knew, of course that young Anne’s burial was accidentally discovered in a crypt under a London bombsite that had disappeared. It was a famous and controversial find, and paved the way for modern archaeology to save…

1310 – Day 3
As wished for by Benedict, the Townsends make the appropriate payments to the Church and the Crawley family and then get to planning the wedding. They invite some of the other village folk, as well as the Crawley family and their relatives.
Before the wedding, Benjamin celebrates his thirteenth birthday, which means that he is now nearly considered an adult. As Benedict predicted, he takes over more duties on the farm, some of them those previously done by Anna, as if to prove to her that they will truly be fine without her.
The Williams family – Malika and her parents – is in attendance as well, so Benjamin uses the time before the ceremony to reconnect with his friend, who is of an age with him and thus equally grown up – and very nicely so, if Benjamin is anyone to judge.
Talking with her is as easy as ever. He has found that many people find his seriousness when talking about topics that incite his passion dull, but Malika is a person that finds interest in everything she is told, and even asks him to talk to her when many others are bored by what he has to say.
Then it is finally time for the ceremony, which, luckily, goes off without a hitch. Anna couldn’t be happier than to say her vows in front of her and George’s loved ones, finally becoming Mrs. Crawley, as she has wished to be for so long. And Benedict couldn’t be prouder of her – or sadder that his little girl is now a married woman, without her mother there to see it.
Deep in his heart, he hopes that Anne is watching from somewhere, and happy that Anna has gotten her wish.
Afterwards, it is time for Anna to leave her childhood home – her belongings, little that there are, have already been packed up and sent to the Crawley residence – and travel to her new abode in the city with the Crawleys.
She hasn’t been there before, because they have recently moved into a new, grander house granted to them by the Earl, who wanted to thank Master Crawley for his faithful services. She is suitably overawed by the rich furnishings, the big house itself and the towering view of the snow-covered castle right beside it. It is so different from anything she’s known before that she hardly dares to breathe.
“And all of this is ours?”, she asks shyly, when George leads her into what will be their shared bedroom.
“My parents’, of course. But it will be completely ours one day.” He smiles languidly. “But for now, I’d rather focus on the present.”
And so they do.
WATCHER’S NEWS
Clement Dudley, brother to the current Earl of Petersmarch, has celebrated his thirteenth birthday and is thus now old enough to support Lord Petersmarch in his duties. There has been a celebration of another kind in the Baron’s household: his heir, Richard, has finally wed his betrothed, the Lady Elinor Mowbray. Hopes are high that this union will provide the long longed-for heir to the barony.

Richard of York was married at the age of four in 1478 to a five-year-old heiress, Anne de Mowbray. Sometimes these matches did not work out but often, the pair were considered capable of consummating the union by their mid-teens, such as with Prince Arthur and Catherine of Aragon in 1501. Fourteen was also the traditional age for apprenticeships and service to begin. Boys and girls could be bound to a master and learn a trade for the next seven years, being sent away from home and working long hours, sometimes for little food or recompense. They had to follow strict rules of conduct or face dismissal and punishment. The bands of unruly apprentices that caused havoc on London streets must have been exploting their only outlet of freedom; small wonder these groups of repressed adolescents frequently turned to violence and mischief on feast days. The May Day riots of 1517 saw a few thousand young men causing mayhem in the streets under the excuse of xenophobia; many were captured but later pardoned by Catherine of Aragon.
