Redhead Ann Pennington gained stardom beginning in the 1913 Ziegfeld Follies as a fabulous dancer. Nicknamed "Tiny" for her 4'10" height and size 1.5 shoe, the whirlwind bounced back and forth between the Follies and its competition George White's Scandals - and had an income of over 1K per week in the early 1920s. She also worked in silent and talking pictures from 1916-1930
A noted spender and a generous friend, she never settled in one place long, often living with her dear friend Fanny Brice. Never marrying, her fortunes waned, and she ended her years quietly and alone in NYC. A few years before her death, asked what had been the greatest reward from her years of stardom, her reply was "in living, honey".
Photo 1917, Irving Chidnoff, NYC.
