Octavian's longtime childhood dream was the ocean - a cold, vast expanse of water that holds mysteries that even the most experienced scientists have yet to discover.

This interest was instilled in the boy by his father, who worked as a marine biologist like many members of his family. In general, his father himself dreamed that octavian would join him in the future, seeing the spark in his eyes. but here was the only factor that ruined this future. octavian's mother. she was a strict, unapproachable woman who wanted to push her son into "more significant business that could bring income and success". (it's amazing how they got together with her husband and how they're still not divorced...) It was necessary for her to set her son on the right path, she wanted to give him a future that she thought was better and good for him.

Since most of the time she was engaged in the upbringing of her son, while his father was lost in endless expeditions and explorations of the Gemstone Sea, it was she who contributed to the fact that Octavian gave up his dream, compelled by the fact that a more serious and promising a great future profession is just what he needs. a lot of money, a good post - is it really possible to give up all this?

Since then, Octavian has followed the path his mother wanted to set him on, wanting what she herself had - a job with important paperwork in a corporation. Thus the young man became what he is now - a logistics manager in one of the most fundamental corporations in Ferngill - Joja.

But in the end, during this "small" business trip that led to the valley, Octavian began to have doubts about his path again. Doubts that slowly turned to a sense of betrayal of himself.

The betrayal of that small, naive boy, who had read all the books on marine biology and his father's scientific notes with incredible enthusiasm time after time.

3: What would your Dark Urge consider to be their greatest skill? Is this accurate?

If I answered this differently in a previous askgame, no I didnt 💜 Anyways, I think Dirge considers his vast well of psionic power to be his greatest skill, owing to years of practice and now bolstered by resisting the Urge and exploiting the tadpole. Hes wrong, but only because his silver tongue is skilled enough that he doesn't even have to crawl inside your head to make you do something heinous, a skillset employed with hellish proficiency in his Bhaalist years, where he singlehandedly ruined dozens of families, relationships, and lives in service to Bhaal.

15: What is your Dark Urge’s greatest fear?

Losing himself and his sense of autonomy. His memory is one thing, but to lose the ability to self determine or make his own choices, to be forced to dance to another's tune without the capability to resist, is a nightmare that haunts his every waking moment post-Ketheric. It lingered in the back of his mind before, but the violation Kressa subjected him to, and the knowledge of his heritage, brings it to the forefront of his mind and he doesn't shake it until well after the Absolute is bested. It consumes his thoughts at night, it escalates his OCD to levels he hasnt experienced since the lobotomy, it drives him to self destructive habits, he shuts down emotionally, and its because he is swallowed up within an abyss of all consuming fear that takes the shape of the Slayer.

Hes probably fine tho, dont worry everyone 👍

23: How does your Dark Urge feel about what others think of them?

I already answered this one here!! So I think I'll stretch the question. Dirge is very pack-oriented, but his new pack introduces a brand new category of person that Dirge has never experienced before: People one step removed from him. Gale's mother, Wyll's father, Shadowheart's parents, Jaheira's kids. All people HE doesn't have in his pack, but are themselves within the circle of someone who IS. And they occupy a very odd spot for him. He can't check out completely the way he does for strangers: manipulating the opinion of Gale's mother for personal gain obviously wouldn't go over good with Gale himself. But they don't occupy the same level of importance as his actual circle. He isn't going to bend over backwards to keep Ulder from being disappointed in him as a person. So what this does is force Dirge to pay attention to them, and his relationships with these second circle people, if you will, are a bit more varied.

Yes it did in fact take a whole lobotomy for Dirge to meaningfully understand the concept of acquaintances and friends. It was bad in the temple okay. Really bad. Just going by the above list: Dirge loathes Ulder with a burning passion and only prioritizes his wellbeing for Wyll's sake, he gets along pretty well with Gale's mom in a "wine aunt gossiping over dinner" kind of way and uses it primarily to embarass Gale, he adores Jaheira's kids and hes unionized with Rion to bully her into being more emotionally present with her family (as opposed to trying to keep distance for their safety and wellbeing). Dirge also babysits to give Rion and Jord a break every now and then.
