My First Ebook Royalty Cheque
My First Ebook Royalty Cheque
Rs. 39, My First E-royalty Cheque
After three years of blogging, I finally got my first cheque and guess what? It is from the e-commerce giant amazon.com for the book sales of my second book Blogging for Gold. Although I have made some money from Google AdSense and by self-publishing my first book Survival, the amount was not large enough for the first credit to be made directly into my account.

'Monk' who gave up Bollywood career, is discovering bit of Buddha in him: Meet Anuj Tikku, the wanderer
‘Monk’ who gave up Bollywood career, is discovering bit of Buddha in him: Meet Anuj Tikku, the wanderer
Travel@The Hush Post| 11:13 am |three-minutes-read
Often times, misery helps you discover yourself. Gautama Buddha left his home and chose the jungles. That was almost 2,500 years ago. A wandering man is a hungry man, whose food is knowledge and new perspective. As the adage goes, a traveller acquires memories and leaves footprints each morning. And the next morning, he abandons his yesterday and…

Qandeel Baloch, a Social Media Star Tragedy
Qandeel Baloch, a Social Media Star Tragedy
Just saw a documentary on YouTube about the death of a young social media star, a lady by the name of Qandeel Baloch. I found it very moving. I found it to be dark and twisted, the events that unfolded till her death at the hands of her own brother who gave her sleeping pills and then strangled her to death in their own village house in Baloch. What was even more surreal was that this woman had…

It’s been almost a week. We had decided to spend no more than three days at Manchester City.
But I and Shaan took a liking to the city. Shaan found some mates and partied around town. I had the privilege of hosting half a dozen young party girls in my room for two nights at a stretch all thanks to lover boy Shaan who showed me that rapping was not the only speciality he had. Yes, Shaan was a ladies man top. I believe it was his looks, style and tap that pulled all the chicks as his other male friends sat on the side trying to get laid with the birds. It was my darling Shaan who managed to keep the flag flying.
I acted like a perfect friend who let him be and tried to make his young cultural friends at home. I also treated some of his gang to Chinese food the next day. NO2 is quite the rage and most kids use it to get high in this part of the world. It is an underground cultural thing, you know, the kind of stuff ‘boys in the hood’ do. It comes with a complicated apparatus of a small gas tank connected to a balloon that glows like neon as the gas blows it up. Kids inhale this gas and then exhale it after some time to get their highs. It gives a buzz to the mind making you float and feel light. You become loveable and affectionate after that and I am sure some of the guys tried it to get laid with the chicks. There was love all around in my room. All throughout the trip, I kept jumping into the tub to have a shower which was one of the easiest ways to save myself from the afternoon heat.
I slept a lot on this trip and also ate a lot too. We almost trashed our room with drinks, water bottles and unclean plates, not to mention the boxes of eaten up ice cream. It was a mayhem. I did go for my usual walks to the university but on Sunday, most of Manchester is asleep. Nothing seems to be open. I walked into a Manchester University shop to buy a logo t-shirt but it was shut. Everyone was at home resting. Shaan found his new angel who was duskier in complexion. I think he had found what he liked and we will see our little rapper boy come often to Manchester to meet his lady.
I was most concerned about the video editing of my blog videos and let Shaan have a good time reminding him that he also had a blogging task to finish. The kid has been cooperating ever since he did a good job doing the photography of the nightlife of Manchester. He soon started the editing work too under my supervision. The results will be there for all to see.
The tastiest meal of the day for me was the chicken shawarma. All the NO2 in the air had made me hungry and I was happy to polish the shawarma with the salad, roti, herbs and pickles. Wow! This was full N02 and chicken shawarma Manchester style.

Scuba Duba Doo
As you know, I have been scuba diving for some time. First, in Maldives where I did my PADI certification and open water course. I made a lovely underwater video of mine with the help of my GoPro Hero 5 and it came out wonderfully well. Scuba divingwas easy for me as I am a very good swimmer. So I did not get any starting jitters. The first thing I did after getting my PADI certification was to…

I had started acting after over six years. This was my first role after a long gap and it did take me a day or two to adjust. The thing that changed it for me was my get up. I was restless throughout the day but as I walked into my dress tent outside the cricket ground, I started to get a feel for my character and role. As soon as the makeup man started putting my beard and tying my turban, I started to get a fresh wave of energy. Then slowly, I wore my blue Shalwar Kameez and then the navy blue coat with a skull cap in my pocket. Yes, this was feeling right. I was getting back to my rhythm as an actor. But the final touches of the face makeup still had to be done till I could safely walk on the set to greet the director and get instructions from the film assistant directors. I was given a mike and made to stand in the middle of the pitch. I started rehearsing my lines and got into my Afghan tone and character. I adapted to give the Afghan lines and added a few words for effect.
During breaks, I would wander away from the crowd to the edge of the field to try and get the feel of the role. Then I video filmed myself delivering a few lines with an Afghan accent and mannerisms. “Wallah subhuhan Allah Afghani khan kaye ga tom wallah…” I was loud and must have scared the others. Soon, a sizeable crowd gathered as I revered my role and used my video to play it as if to correct any mistakes that I was making. The kids loved it and I showed them the film. Most of the other actors thought that I was a real fine actor as I could just get lost in my world and would often be seen mumbling and rehearsing all alone away in the far corners of my tent. They really thought I was some great method actor and the whole unit looked up to me.
I then started trying out the wooden toy guns that the soldiers and commanders were using. I posing with them as if I was the Taliban general getting ready for battle. Over the next four days, I would slip even deeper into my role. The getup and costume did the trick and enhanced my acting experience.
Getting Into the Skin of My Character I had started acting after over six years. This was my first role after a long gap and it did take me a day or two to adjust.

I have kept my energy levels up at all times during this Kerala excursion and have been ably helped by my Infynith team. We have discussed future strategy, the importance of data mining and microtargeting our readers by using them for brand integrated promotions. But the focus has been on videography and filming for my YouTube video channel. I enjoyed walking near the bay area on the sidewalks chatting to old folks who sat on nearby benches. Needless to say, they were resting there after the evening walks. I discussed the meaning of the word eccentric with them and then sat down with them for a jolly good chat, all the while urging them to talk to the camera so that I could get some funny bits for my Travelthon video. I had a whole orange bar ice cream as I hop about my travels. All the while, I was slurping the juicy bar. The evening sunset excited my crew who grabbed the orange ball sun setting above the sky with boats and small ships sailing in the blue shiny orange water.
I, for one, was motivating my crew all the time with passionate speeches on how Steve Jobs succeeded in business to how we can use applications to capture vital reader data. I was showing them the way as I acquainted them with the grand vision of Tikku’s Travelthon. The streets of Njarackal added their own flavour to my voice and act in front of the camera and I took care to look and wear my best for my camera appearance. Now that I have got a role in a Sanjay Dutt starrer film called Torbaaz which also features Nargis Fakhri, I am doubly excited. The weather has been hot and humid in Cochin City and its suburbs but our excursions to cooler areas in Munnar gave me much relief. The toddy, the spicy food, the tea gardens and green meadows with an ever-flowing mountain mist are the key ingredients of Kerala’s scenic beauty.
Mix all this with the silent mystery of its quiet backwaters ridden with palm trees. Kerala is a wonder of many faces and moods. Steeped in the tradition of equality to all, it is the last bastion for the Communist party. Yes, Kerala is a red state. It is by no means poor and cities like Cochin have a very efficient transport system. With efficient taxi service moving about the city and suburbs, it was not an issue for us and thus, we got a lot of filming done. Yes, it is me Mr. Eccentric discovering Kerala in my own unique style.
Discovering the Sidewalks of Cochin as an Eccentric I have kept my energy levels up at all times during this Kerala excursion and have been ably helped by my…

Wooden Boat and a Blue Whale in Antarctica
Wooden Boat and a Blue Whale in Antarctica
On one of our docking, we were allowed to meander around an Antarctic island for more than an hour. I had company in Srini Venkatramani. She was in full flow that day as I captured her through my lens and GoPro camera. The earth on the snow was black or muddy brown and was full of pebbles and round dark grey stones. Each one of us Q Travel explorers had a steel walking stick and were strictly…

I Learn Through Pain and Suffering
I Learn Through Pain and Suffering
Pain and suffering are unexpected and unavoidable miseries in a human life. The Buddha was so moved when he first saw suffering that he left his abode and family and wandered the world trying to figure out why humans suffer and how one can totally elevate suffering from human life. Well, he was not very successful in finding that out. To me, suffering is an essential thing in human life.
Sufferi…
