"Security": La fragilidad del espacio habitado.

"Security", una instalación de la artista Gabriela Kobus que tiene como hogar temporal el lugar expositivo Espacio Cabeza, llegó a tierras tapatías en el marco de la semana del arte en Guadalajara y se despedirá el 29 de marzo del año en curso. Esta pieza nos confronta con una verdad incómoda: la fragilidad de aquello que consideramos seguro. A través de elementos cotidianos transformados, la artista cuestiona la estabilidad de nuestros espacios de refugio y cómo el amortiguamiento prometido por la posmodernidad se traduce, paradójicamente, en exclusión y vulnerabilidad.

Kobus, artista alemana, ha explorado la ambivalencia en distintos momentos de su carrera, estableciendo diálogos con objetos diarios y la manera en que estos habitan y desempeñan roles en nuestros sistemas, tanto simbólicos como sociales. Su trabajo cuestiona constantemente las fronteras entre lo público y lo privado, entre la seguridad y el riesgo.

La instalación transforma radicalmente la sala en un paisaje de destrucción contenida. El suelo, cubierto por completo de parabrisas rotos, crea un tapiz de vidrios estrellados que cruje bajo los pies de quienes se atreven a transitarlo. Con esta intervención, Kobus plantea una reflexión sobre la nueva modalidad de vida urbana donde el automóvil funciona como extensión del hogar—un territorio privado inserto en lo público. El parabrisas, ese elemento que separa el "adentro" del "afuera", revela que a pesar de su prometida protección, existe en un estado de fragilidad constante, siempre vulnerable al azar y la violencia del entorno.

A lo largo de este meticuloso paisaje de cristales fragmentados, la artista dispone elementos que intensifican la tensión: almohadas atravesadas por varillas metálicas. Estos objetos, símbolos tradicionales del descanso y el confort doméstico, han sido violentamente intervenidos, negando así su función original de refugio. Este juego de elementos sugiere cómo la ciudad contemporánea se ha transformado en un espacio fundamentalmente hostil que rechaza ser habitado, cuestionando quién posee el derecho legítimo de permanecer y bajo qué condiciones. La obra muestra cómo, una vez más, lo urbano se convierte en un territorio ajeno que, paradójicamente, invita e incluso obliga a que no lo habites plenamente.

Visitar "Security" se convierte inevitablemente en un ejercicio de conciencia corporal y social. Al llegar con mis amigas, nos detuvimos en la entrada del cuarto, dudando si estaba permitido realmente entrar y pisar aquellos vidrios visiblemente rotos. Una vez recibida la autorización, ingresamos con una mezcla de curiosidad y cautela; si bien nuestras pisadas eran decididas, había en nosotras cierta delicadeza instintiva al transitar. Recorrimos la habitación con plena consciencia del sonido y las sensaciones que generábamos al quebrar aún más el vidrio bajo nuestros pies. Las almohadas atravesadas, a pesar de sus colores vivos y alegres, evocaban esa falsa invitación que la misma ciudad nos extiende cuando intentamos habitarla—promesa de confort que esconde hostilidad.

El contraste en los modos de interacción con la obra se hizo brutalmente evidente cuando, mientras estábamos inmersas en esta experiencia contemplativa, llegó un grupo de hombres de aproximadamente 50 años. Su aproximación fue radicalmente distinta: entraron pisando con fuerza deliberada, con "ganas" como quien dice, celebrando entre ellos el ruido y la destrucción que literalmente dejaban a su paso. Se jactaban de que esta no era su primera intervención en la pieza.

Como espectadora de esta situación, no solo vi interrumpida cualquier "experiencia" que podíamos estar teniendo las demás personas, sino que quedó dolorosamente expuesto cómo la manera en que transitamos los espacios y el poder que tenemos —o creemos tener— sobre ellos es profundamente distinta: ¿qué acercamiento tenemos hacia la destrucción y la fragilidad? ¿Desde qué lugar nos relacionamos con ella?

Podría parecer redundante interpretar todo como una cuestión de género y otras interseccionalidades, pero es innegable que el sistema social se ha estructurado a través de categorías que nos atraviesan cotidianamente. Esta realidad hace que habitemos el lugar, el peligro y el destrozo desde posiciones fundamentalmente distintas: algunos desde el poder y la rudeza naturalizada, otros desde la curiosidad cautelosa y la familiaridad de reconocer el lugar del destrozo como un posible espacio propio. Sin ofrecer instrucciones explícitas, Kobus nos obliga a preguntarnos quién tiene derecho a habitar y de qué manera, quién permanece protegido en una burbuja con un parabrisas intacto, revelando así las dinámicas de poder latentes en el simple acto de ocupar un espacio.

"Security" trasciende su materialidad inmediata para convertirse en una poderosa metáfora de la vida contemporánea, donde la promesa de seguridad y confort coexiste permanentemente con la amenaza de su pérdida repentina. La obra nos invita—o más bien, nos confronta—a reflexionar sobre los espacios que habitamos, aquellos que nos son sistemáticamente negados, y las diferentes formas en que navegamos esta realidad según nuestra posición en el entramado social. En un mundo donde la seguridad es cada vez más un privilegio y menos un derecho, Kobus nos recuerda la fragilidad inherente a nuestros refugios y la violencia cotidiana que subyace tras la aparente protección de nuestros espacios privados.
