Tales of Grace's Combat System!

In Tales of Grace's, guarding is meant to be utilized almost as much as attacking. In the Grace's combat systems, "A good offense is a good defense" is taken quite literally. For the best outcome and best combo stacks, utilize that guard button!! A-Artes, finish strong with 1 or 2 B-Artyes, Guard until you reach a desired CC or an enemy attacks, then attack again. Your final attack after guarding can be A or B Artes depending on the situation. If the enemy is low on health or very weak to an element/attack type that a B-Arte does then your attack after guarding should be that B Arte even if you have to spam it 2 or 3 times.

I like to attack with my A-artes and finish with 1 or 2 B-Artes depleting my CC. I follow that first volley of attacks with guarding. Here is where things get tricky the more involved and in depth you get with the combat system. After your first attack depleting CC, you have 4 options while guarding (basically). You can guard until an enemy attacks, then just wail on them until depleting CC, rinse and repeat. You can wait until CC fills then just repeat the process.

You can dodge/evade to an area to spread the enemies out, drawing in less damage/attacks taken, set yourself up for more criticals with back/side strikes, or you do it to clump enemies to hit hit multiples.

But you can also do it yo quickly fill some CC just enough to continue a combo, rack up more hits, let your partners hit while you guard, then continue stacking up a combo by guarding just long enough to attack while your allies regain CC and attack intermittently to absolutely demolish an enemy with a huge combo hit number, which is what I do.

But for newbies or people who arent that good that want to get better, use A-artes until your CC gets low and finish it off with B-Artes. Guard until your CC refills, then attack again, repeating the process.

Once your CC fills while guarding you can stay guarding until the enemies or enemy attacks to help ensure you dont get hit without your guard or in mid combo.

Just a heads up as to why I haven’t been posting art lately and a second heads up that I won’t be posting art for like.. at least a week or so. 

I sorta maybe was dumb and sorta maybe kinda semi-broke part of my computer and while it’s fixed and I’m hoping to actually put in the proper replacement part soon, it’s made my tablet software fussy and I have been struggling to fix the driver software for a while now ;_;
