First actual post of the blog, ayeee!
Saturdays are always a bit of a mess when it comes to being study days. They’re probably the only days of the week when I can actually sleep in and replenish some of the sleep lost during the week. They’re also the only days that happen to be filled with a form of chaos. Wake up late, get breakfast, check the socials, help with shopping, grab lunch with the family, then a part of the day that can be dedicated to studying and then probably a night outting.
Construction details have been taking up the majority of this past week and the designs never seem to end. Small background for this: Class started quite well, the lessons consist of a theory part (2h/week) and a practice part (3h/week), we were given the technical designs of a small residence and have been asked to make the designs of the concrete static model, the architectural plans and sections with material details, the elevations, the excavations and foundations and the roof plan. This would have been okay if we learned in theory class how to do them before starting them in practice class. This way there wouldn’t be so much conflict between what each practice professor says to their stuents and there would be some general guidelines to the designs and not so much of a mess as to what everyone has understood. Unfortunatey, this is what we have to work with. Classes were lost during the semester because of protests -mostly theory- and now near the end of the semester we’re trying to compensate for the losses. Another reason, though, that I’m in this situation right now is that I only very recently started doing my designs in AutoCAD, which is something I decided to do after I had lost a lot of time redoing entire drafts to correct them.
So, here I am sitting with my faded Star Wars mug drinking some hot chocolate enjoying the last bit of Christmas left and finishing my static models. I managed to figure out how to make dashed lines appear that way in my layouts which is very positive and I ended up finishing all static models. Hopefully there won’t be many mistakes when my professor corrects it on Tuesday. First things first, tomorrow, I’m checking everything before proceeding to the excavations and foundations and perhaps floor plans, too.
Exams start in two weeks. I want to say that it will all be fine. Good night everyone.
