Age a bar in MP for college education barring
As per the new guidelines of the Higher Education Department, there will be no age restriction for taking admission in colleges of the state. The maximum age limit on admission to undergraduate courses for students in MP was 23 years, while it is 28 years for postgraduate courses. However, there is three years’ relaxation for the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe students.
Several educationists said that fixing the age limit for entry into general courses led to violation of the Right to Education Act.
Fixing the age limit imposed by the M.P. The government on admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the state, has kicked up a debate. to check the entry of those who prolonged their stay on the campuses and got involved in student politics. On the other hand In India, many people are not able to continue their studies due to poverty and certain other circumstances. Later, if their condition improves and they want to attend a college or a university he can’t do so because of this bizarre eligibility criterion,” said Professor Zamiruddin, an educationist. You can’t stop a person from pursuing higher studies.
He said that Even when he was studying, some retired officers attended college with him. When a person craves education how can a government make such rules? That's why he always emphasizes that education policy should be made only by educationists.”
It violated the fundamental rights of a person. The SC had dismissed a petition of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia National Law University, Lucknow, against a judgment of the Allahabad High Court, directing the university to remove the condition of upper age limit for CLAT. This ruling clearly suggests that there cannot be an age limit on admission to any course,” said an educationist, who did not wish to be named.
However, fixing the age limit on admission in courses like MBBS, B Tech and M Tech was understandable, he added.
Retired vice-chancellor Arun Gurtoo said, “Maybe, they have taken the decision to keep anti-social elements away from the institutions of higher studies as they create nuisance. But then why have they opened the gate for entry to campuses through many other courses .The rules should be uniform.
However, principal secretary to higher education Ashish Upadhyay said, “We don’t have enough resources to impart higher education to all, so we have fixed the maximum age limit on admission to undergraduate and postgraduate courses to promote the younger generation. As fewer people take admission in courses like yoga and as the government wants to promote this subject, we have not fixed any age limit on admission to it.”
“The government has ended the upper age limit for taking admissions in under-graduate and postgraduate courses. Now, students of any age group can take admission in courses for which age limit was fixed at state level,” said Indore division additional director (higher education) Prof. Chaturvedi. However, the age limit for courses run by central regulatory bodies will remain intact. He said that the state higher education department mentioned scrapping the age limit in centralized online admission guidelines, which were released on Thursday.
Till Thursday, the upper age limit for male candidates for admission to UG courses was 23 years whereas for PG courses it was 28 years. There was a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for SC,ST, OBC and physically challenged candidates whereas there was no upper age limit for female candidates.
To increase the rate of literacy in the state this is a great move which should be welcomed by every educationist.

Everything You Need to Know About B. Tech. Lateral Entry
There are many students who apply for a B. Tech course and wish to graduate in it. However, not every student gets that opportunity. There are many students who do other engineering courses because they didn’t get admission in B. Tech.
B. Tech Lateral Entry is a programme that enables students to get direct admission in the second year of the BTech program. Students who apply for this course either desire to acquire more knowledge or want to get a better degree to make their career stronger.
Top institutes like MIT Manipal offer BTech Lateral Entry in various branches like Civil, Chemical, Electrical, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical, Mechatronics engineering along with many others.
Here are a few things that you should know about the program:
Eligibility for BTech Lateral Entry
There are usually two scenarios that make students eligible for this programme:
Students who have studied in a relevant engineering field for at least three years and have acquired a diploma in the same with a minimum aggregate marks of 50% are eligible to apply for the programme.
Students who have passed the first and second semester of their B. Tech and are looking for a transfer to a different college can also apply for this programme. In this case, students are required to have passed the first two semesters with a minimum score of 50% and should not have any backlogs.
Colleges that provide the BTech Lateral Entry programme have their own application review process. The college also checks the seat availability in the branch that the student desires to get admission in and if all the factors fall in place, admission is granted.
Comparison between BTech and BTech Lateral
Students who get admission in BTech Lateral have a three-year course in BTech. This is because they get admission directly in the second year. However, students with regular B Tech admissions have a four-year course.
The advantage of BTech Lateral is that a student already comes with three years of education in a technical field and the additional three years of B. Tech learning after that is a big plus.
Conclusion
BTech Lateral Entry is a wonderful way for students to get a Bachelor of Technology degree. If you are eligible for the course, you can get admission in it and get a chance to enhance your knowledge in a particular BTech field that you choose.
You too get a change to work as an engineer after finishing the course. Students who get into the programme, get the same education and degree as other B Tech students.
