About: Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Coimbatore (a branch of Belur Mutt and Ramakrishna Mutt, Howrah, West Bengal). The Vidyalaya is located 19 miles from Coimbatore on the Ooty highway in a peaceful 300-acre setting. Avinashilingam Institute was founded. TS Avinashilingam invested Rs. 5.75 and a Harijan child in 1930. It was a humble start for his big educational and spiritual complex with twenty wings. One thing inspired him to take that risk. In 1934, father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi placed the Vidyalaya's foundation stone and encouraged pupils to be truthful nationalists. The Vidyalaya joined Ramakrishna Mission the same year.
