chapter 29.5 | “can i kiss you?”

“Are you sure you want to be eating these?” you ask him timidly. He’s lost track of how many times you’ve repeatedly pestered him with this question.

After the two of you left the school building, you had mutually agreed on taking a short break at a random bench somewhere in the middle of your walk home. Even though Riki complained that he was tired and hungry, he had refused to leave your side—and therefore—settled on eating the pre-made sandwiches you had stocked up on at the convenience store earlier.

“You act like these sandwiches come from hell and not a plastic box.” Riki chuckles in amusement. He peels back the flimsy seal lining the front and begins to guzzle down the simple ham and cheese. “It’s no big deal, Y/n. You’re thinking too much.”

“It’s not that late,” you insistently oppose, ignoring what he said. “You could still probably make it in time to eat with your family.”

“But I want to eat with you.”

“Oh...”

“I would’ve just invited you to dinner at my house, but I thought that it was probably too soon to meet the parents.”

“Yah, shut up!” You lightly shove him by the shoulder.

“Is it normal for you?” Riki asks carefully. “To eat by yourself?”

“Yeah, I guess,” you pause to take a bite of your own sandwich, “I guess that's just the way it’s been for me. The house is always pretty quiet.”

“I should get my mom to teach you how to cook,” Riki exclaims. “She’d be so excited.”

“Really?” You laugh.

“Totally!” he says in a dramatically enthusiastic tone. You can tell he's trying to lift the mood, and you appreciate it. “You should swing by sometime. They'd love you, seriously.”

Riki collects the trash after he finishes eating and puts it aside in an empty grocery bag. Clearing his hands, he holds one of yours and naturally starts playing with your fingers.

“Thanks for the offer.” You slip into a subtle smile, only able to make eye contact with the ground, or else you'll just about lose your mind. “I'll think about it.”

You finally tilt your head up to see Riki already staring right at you. His gaze is tender underneath the bluish-orange sunset, leaving you completely and utterly memorized. The opportunity forms itself; it’s the kind of suspense that makes you feel like you’re being suspended in midair.

“Can I kiss you?” you say without even thinking. All you can focus on is the close proximity between you and him on this bench.

Riki opts to not respond knowing that he'll stutter otherwise, instead, deciding to nod while he leans in closer and closer. You can tell how nervous he is by the hopelessly lost look in his dark brown eyes. You are too, but you try to block out the thought.

The kiss starts out as nothing more than an innocent peck at first, then, he gently pulls you back in with his hand on the back of your neck. His lips are laced in sweet euphoria and cold ham and cheese sandwiches. His touch is rather warm and welcoming, so much so that you think your body will overheat into a ball of fire.

And when he eventually pulls away, it feels all too soon.

“Have I ever told you that I really like you?” you say jokingly, pressing your forehead onto his.

“You have.” Riki grins from ear to ear, hand now grazing your cheek. “But say it again.”

I do think it’s tough bc there’s a lot more to riki’s feelings than just pure jealousy but it’s honestly a fault on his part for failing to communicate that to y/n and project his frustrations onto her instead :(

oh wow a lot of the asks are not on heesuns side but i am bc i dont think if they werent as harsh riki wouldve fully realized/explained what he was feeling, and now that he has he at least can get the help of the others, or idk maybe im just an asshole

I would say that riki had already regretted his actions from the moment he thought y/n was going to break up with him, but even so, I do think heeseung and sunoo had the right to be mad. maybe they were a little harsh or immature to leave the group chat, but they have their reasons.

sunoo gave advice to riki and he repeatedly went against what he promised to do. riki was still wishy-washy on his date with y/n after saying he’d be honest with her to sunoo, then sunoo had to cheer y/n up to compensate for riki’s negligence (then the fight happened and so on). heeseung is also very hyper sensitive when it comes to protecting y/n bc he understands how easily she can be heartbroken and doesn’t want to see her in that place again after she had defended him against his bully (so he wants to protect her like she did for him).

I also think it’s important to note that heeseung was technically friends with y/n first and they shared a very deep and personal bond before they drifted apart and he became friends with the boys.

yeah, I think heesun we’re just fed up with riki hurting y/n’s feelings bc he didn’t heed their advice (and then there’s they have their other personal reasons to defend y/n). sunoo was definitely immature to be salty with the others for not automatically siding with him but those two will come around!

after all, they still very much understand that riki is good for y/n and that the couple just needs to talk things through💕

hello! apologies for not being alongside on the breaking me in two smau but i've been in my riki feels for the longest while now (hes so <33) and i stumbled upon your smau and i just finished binging tf out of it and lemme tell you, IT WAS SO GOOD. i mostly loved the amount of thought you put into this smau, especially after reading the scrapped post and the "what couldve happened's" and seeing how each decision you made shaped the smau into what it is and the way you kept making good decisions!?! i wouldve enjoy the outcome any way but somehow with the choices you chose, i enjoyed it even more!! i loved the angst with riki's own insecurities battling his inner thoughts and his hyperfixation on any male breathing in yns vicinity and even after that one chapter with the fight and the meme the yn puts on the priv about having the bf being with them bc theyre pretty and nice which solidifies the insecure thoughts about riki only wanting them because of his own made up fantasy in his mind and it was so well put together!!!

i also seriously enjoyed each individual character and heeseungs backstory dealing with his own shit and overcoming it and sunoo being the best boy !! ever !!!! (mintcho luvrs ftw<3) and the other boys being apart of the ynriki love train!! it was all so entertaining and enjoyable to read about. i dont want to make this unnecessarily long so great job with this smau and i can't wait for your other works as well as the jungwon spinoff !! you did so well<3

this ask honestly means a lot to me and it makes me so happy to hear that you appreciate BMIT as well as the scrapped plots☹️ I spent a lot of time thinking about how I wanted to direct the storyline of BMIT bc the message and the character building was very important to me. I wanted it to have that healing slice of life feel that taps into a lot of meaningful themes with the inner self and how the insecurities that one faces affects one’s relationship.

I’m also glad to hear that you’re looking forward to the jungwon spinoff! ngl I’m still struggling to finish chapters before my upload schedule since it’s a lot of writing (in total) and I want to make sure that I’m satisfied with the quality! I’m really excited to keep continuing the project tho since it goes even deeper into all the things BMIT didn’t
