Cal Brunker (the director of the movies) gave Skye her moment skydiving in the first movie because his daughter was 4 and she really liked Skye. The second movie was made partly for his daughter and partly so that girls could feel represented more (they're trying to push girls into the spotlight, with Liberty and Skye being utilized more).

You're definitely right that Marshall doesn't act like himself in the movies though (no elevator wipeouts, no clumsiness, and Rubble taking all of his jokes).

Definitely not surprised here (in a good way, sort of). Every time we have girl power for a female character in whatever media where said girls are in less numbers than the boys in this media, it's because someone behind the scenes has a daughter, a niece or something who asked for a girl in the team or likes the girl they have in the team.

For Transformers, Arcee was created for that same reason: Some (or one? I don't remember well, I'm bad with numbers) of the producers had a daughter who liked Transformers and complained there were no girl robots, so they included one for her. Later down the road, some more followed. We still don't have A BUNCH of femmes (how we call female Transformers in a general way), but it all started just for that.

As a woman/girl myself, I gotta say I DO LIKE the representation and all that XD Even more when, by PERSONAL experience, I meet so many more girls than boys when I join online spaces about cartoons/animes/series I like that are usually targeted to the male audience (InuYasha, Pokémon, Digimon, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Knight Rider, Transformers, Sonic The Hedgehog, Megaman, I could spend half a post just listing). It's funny how they need to be reminded that WE ARE WATCHING THESE SHOWS TOO.

As for the last part, I actually think Rubble was pretty okay- the jokes were in his element at least, mostly related to food every time. He didn't TAKE Marshall's jokes, he had his own ones, what happened was mostly he took Marshall's MOMENTS for jokes, like, Marshall just needed TO HAVE THESE MOMENTS TOO. Marshall would have joked MORE on other situations in the movie, he's the one to always light up their mood. Rubble was himself, Marshall wasn't. Even Rocky got to crack a joke at the end which was pretty much in his element as well.

it was messy. dexter rummaged around, pacing to make sure everything was in place. it had to be perfect! a pristine murder as he always did though.. but now he had someone to show it to. cassie was a new interest for dexter. a very uncommon thing for him, especially when it came to people. they scheduled these meeting. so many risks at play... but he couldn't help but want this. and with her sudden voice came his breath taken response, " You do? " he felt everything fall chill with relief. " I.. was hoping you would- " he caught himself immediately growing insecure as his words fall to a chuckle. the last woman he was this open with was lumen.. and what a painful end it was for him.

I've been thinking a lot about Appa and all the crap that poor baby went through in the last airbender.. 🥺🥺 I just wanted someone to scoop that poor bison up and tell him everything's gonna be okay😭😭 It sucks that Aang doesn't have a form big enough to hold Appa that he can also control in order to accomplish this..

That's when I realized I'm an artist and I can make whatever I want XD So a giant avatar form I gave him! now someone can pet the precious darling and make him feel better.. 🥺💞💞💞

I've been super into repotting all my propogating houseplants and growing seeds from grocery store fruit for shits and giggles this summer.

Pictured are my many lil jade plant babies, my red currant tree that has survived and regrown from someone (not me) putting it into a storage unit for winter while it was still green and leafing (pro tip: make sure ppl caring for your potted trees while you are off in a different town for college know not to heckin do that), and my lil baby dragonfruit cacti in their Humidity Bins because it is dry as a popcorn fart where I live.

(Another pro tip: don't forget to open the bins, as pictured properly here, when placing them outside in the morning sun for some good good UV -- this avoids literally steam-cooking your poor innocent baby cacti. That one's on me. I won't show you a pic of the resulting carnage, but suffice to say about half survived. Luckily dragonfruit seeds are super easy to germinate like this and can be bought in the literal thousands for the low low price of 7.99 per a single fruit at safeway.)

But by far the most consequential of this summer's fucking around and finding out is this:

Context: So the downstairs bathroom where I live has a dried flower arrangement in it (i live with a lady in her 60s, it is her house). Said flower arrangement includes these:

These are lotus seed pods, for those who do nor know. Large ones. These ones are only a bit smaller than the palm of my hand, and they come from this flower:

Five days ago I found one of the seeds from these pods on the bathroom floor, idly looked up some how-to instructions, and I think you have all you need to put the rest of this story together.

After only two days in water, I was forced to confront what I, primarily a succulant and cactus grower, might have gotten myself into.

Some people are born great, some acheive greatness, and others fuck around with seeds from a tropical water plant that have been known to still germinate after 200 years without thinking of what exactly they'll do if it actually grows, and find themselves unprepared for the responsibility of what will become the water-garden version of Jack's fucking beanstalk.

I'm naming it Audrey II. Updates will follow.

I'm still very hype for everything the Malevolent fandom is doing, but I'm not currently very enamoured with canon, as you all probably can tell gsggsgs

I'll continue to tag these thoughts with #malevolent neg, and not any of the other #s so it should be easy to filter if you just have that tag blocked + it shouldn't fall into the larger tags by accident, but if not, unfollow to your heart's content folks.
