you’re telling me they saw these two grown-ass men—late 30s, still attached at the hip, communicating in that silent eye-language, backing each other up like no one else exists—and didn’t go “wtf is this???” like. come on. i fully believe there was at least one moment where mary looked at john and was like “they remind me of us,” and not in a sweet nostalgic way, but in a kinda “oh shit this is lowkey unhinged” way. like, they recognized that closeness, that ride or die, all-consuming energy and maybe had to stop for a second like… wait. this is kinda weird.

did they name it? idk. maybe not. maybe they didn’t want to. maybe they just sat with that uncomfortable realization and then looked away from it. like “we’re just gonna… not unpack that today.” but they definitely noticed. there’s no way they didn’t clock the vibe and go “huh.”
