In spite of picking up Book of Hours on launch, I haven't played it at all yet, really. I played the beta for maybe half an hour, felt a wave of joy knowing I was going to love it, and then set it aside for when it feels right.

also. it's been such a learning curve just being sober. i knew it would be! i did! but it's been... different than i expected, ig? not in a bad way tho.

nothing is just Coming Back To Me. i'm having to work at all of it. which is normal! it's normal to have to work at things. but it's been interesting. and part of why im being so deliberate abt being chatty and engaged and also posting stuff like this is bc i used to be SO open and sincere all the time. then i got scared then i got high then i got totally out of the habit.

so, building it back up from scratch, bc that's the me we liked best. being genuine feels scary but good. and it's all the cliches - i can't be anyone but me (well, anyone but us for system reasons, but u get the gist), no one else can be me/us, etc etc

and, facing facts, i am chatty af. i love talking and will go on unhinged rants abt anything at the drop of a hat. and like... i've 100% lost friends bc of it. not everyone likes it. sooooo many ppl including my family have told me to shut up/not talk so much/stop being weird/etc so i tried to suppress it but that doesn't work.

so im just gonna be chatty and work on being me so i can find my people and they can find me <3

I understand for some people they’re helpful bc it helps to not worry as much about being misunderstood/helps people stop overthinking/etc but like personally? I wasn’t worried about people misunderstanding my tone UNTIL I started seeing extreme and frequent tone indicator use. Everything has positives and negatives so I’m not condemning them! But I now have to stop myself from using them too much because being in spaces with their overuse has genuinely made me MORE paranoid about my tone online. In other words, it’s created a problem where I didn’t have one before and I have to catch myself from overusing them too when I just needed to rephrase. Or even add something like (sarcastic) or (most joking tone possible) to the end because to me that’s a better way to indicate tone ANYWAY because people don’t have to already know all the abbreviations. Shrugs I just feel super mixed on how they’re being used on the internet rn and wish people didn’t see them as the ideal and perfect solution when they’re just another tool with pros and cons like any other form of texting
