The Ultimate Guide to HR Consulting & Background Screening Services in the USA
What Is HR Consulting & Background Screening?
HR consulting and background screening are vital services that help businesses make informed, compliant, and strategic decisions regarding their workforce. HR consulting services offer advice and support on human resources management, from recruitment to employee retention strategies. Meanwhile, background screening ensures that candidates are thoroughly vetted for safety, compliance, and suitability for the role.
Why HR Consulting & Background Screening Are Crucial for U.S. Businesses
In the U.S., ensuring the right people are hired for the job and managing HR functions effectively is essential for business success. HR consulting provides businesses with tailored strategies to build a high-performing workforce, while background screening services reduce risks associated with hiring decisions, such as fraud, theft, and workplace violence.
Understanding the Role of HR Consulting Firms
HR consulting firms offer a wide range of services to organizations, providing guidance on:
Recruitment and talent acquisition strategies
2. Employee training and development
3. Performance management systems
4. Organizational development and change management
5. HR technology integration
By engaging an HR consulting firm, businesses can streamline their HR processes, enhance employee engagement, and reduce HR-related risks.
What Are Background Screening Firms?
Background screening firms specialize in verifying the information provided by candidates during the hiring process. These firms help employers ensure that the individuals they are hiring do not have a history that would pose a risk to the organization. These services often include criminal background checks, employment verification, education verification, and credit checks.
The Types of Background Screening Services Available
Background screening services in the U.S. are highly customizable, allowing businesses to choose the level of verification necessary based on the role and risk factors. Common services include:
Criminal background checks to ensure a candidate has no criminal history relevant to the role
2. Employment verification to confirm job titles, dates of employment, and job performance
3. Education verification to authenticate the degrees or certifications claimed by candidates
4. Credit history checks to assess financial responsibility, often necessary for positions involving finance or sensitive data handling
5. Drug testing for specific industries or roles These services help organizations make better, safer hiring decisions.
How HR Consulting Can Help Build a Strong Workforce
HR consulting provides strategic advice on how to attract, develop, and retain top talent. Consulting firms work closely with businesses to create effective recruitment strategies, implement employee development programs, and establish compensation and benefits packages that keep employees motivated and engaged. Through customized solutions, HR consultants ensure that companies align their workforce with their long-term goals.
The Importance of HR Consulting in Employee Retention
Employee retention is a major challenge for many businesses, but HR consulting can play a pivotal role in overcoming this obstacle. By implementing strategies such as clear career progression plans, recognition programs, and tailored training opportunities, HR consultants help businesses keep their top talent engaged and reduce turnover.
Benefits of Using Background Screening Services
Utilizing background verification services in the U.S. offers businesses a wealth of benefits:
Improved safety and security: Ensures employees do not pose any risks to the company or other employees
2. Legal compliance: Helps businesses adhere to labor laws and avoid legal consequences
3. Reduced turnover: By verifying candidates before hiring, companies are more likely to select candidates who will stay long-term
4. Enhanced hiring decisions: Reduces the risk of bad hires by ensuring a thorough check of past employment, criminal records, and educational history These benefits ultimately contribute to creating a safer, more trustworthy work environment.
How Background Screening Enhances Organizational Culture
Background checks not only ensure that candidates are qualified for the role but also contribute to building a positive organizational culture. By hiring employees who align with the company’s values and ethics, businesses can cultivate an atmosphere of trust, accountability, and transparency. Screening helps prevent the introduction of individuals who may disrupt the workplace culture.
The Growing Need for Comprehensive HR Consulting and Background Checks
As businesses grow and expand, the need for specialized HR consulting and thorough background screening becomes even more critical. A well-executed HR strategy, combined with a robust background verification process, helps organizations build a strong foundation for long-term success. By staying compliant with laws and regulations, companies protect themselves from risks, maintain a healthy workplace culture, and improve operational efficiency.
How HR Consulting and Background Screening Solutions Save Time and Money
Outsourcing HR consulting and background screening to professionals allows businesses to save significant time and resources. Instead of managing complex HR functions in-house or relying on unreliable screening practices, companies can leverage the expertise of consultants and screening firms. This approach streamlines processes, reduces the risk of errors, and allows businesses to focus on what they do best.
Choosing the Right HR Consulting & Background Screening Provider
When selecting a provider for HR consulting and background screening services, it’s crucial to choose a firm with:
Industry expertise: Look for a provider with experience in your specific industry to ensure they understand your unique challenges.
2. Compliance knowledge: Ensure the provider stays up-to-date with federal and state regulations regarding background checks and HR practices.
3. Reputation: Check for testimonials, case studies, and reviews to assess the provider’s reliability and success in delivering results.
4. Technology: Look for firms that offer seamless technology solutions, making the background screening and HR consulting processes more efficient and transparent.
Case Study: How HR Consulting & Background Screening Transformed a Growing Startup
The Challenge:
A fast-growing startup was struggling to hire the right talent while staying compliant with labor laws and ensuring workplace safety.
The Solution:
They engaged an HR consulting firm to streamline their recruitment and retention strategies and partnered with a background screening service to verify the credentials of potential hires.
The Outcome:
The startup reduced turnover by 30%, improved employee satisfaction, and successfully hired a team of qualified professionals who contributed to the company’s growth.
Conclusion
HR consulting and background screening services play a critical role in helping businesses thrive in today’s competitive landscape. By working with trusted consultants and screening firms, organizations can make informed hiring decisions, ensure compliance, and foster a positive work environment. Investing in these services ultimately leads to a stronger, more efficient workforce and a safer, more productive workplace.

Criminal Background Screening Essentials in Louisiana

Criminal background screening is important in Louisiana in several contexts. Conducting this screening varies from state to state. This article discusses the essentials of criminal background screening in Louisiana.
Criminal Background Screening Basics
Criminal background screening is the process of reviewing an individual’s criminal history. This is the reason why some call it a criminal history check.
Several situations require this screening such as employment, tenancy, professional licensing and certification, volunteer work, adoption and foster care, firearms purchase, immigration and visa application, and certain professional services.
Criminal Background Screening Compliance
Louisiana criminal background screening complies with federal and state laws.
Federal Laws
Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA)
The FCRA regulates how background screenings are conducted, including collecting, using, and disclosing information. It ensures its accuracy, fairness, and privacy. It secures individual’s rights.
The requesting agency must get written consent from the applicant before conducting the background investigation. Together with this is the assurance that FCRA procedures will be followed.
Civil Rights Act, Title VII (Equal Employment Opportunity)
This law prohibits discrimination in employment based on race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.
State Laws
Cost of Background Checks
The requesting agency cannot charge the applicant for background screening costs, including fingerprinting and drug testing.
Authorized Agencies
Louisiana is a closed record state. Only authorized agencies certified by the Louisiana State Police can conduct background screenings. Comprehensive Screening Solutions is a Louisiana-authorized agency.
Ban-the-Box
Louisiana has adopted the Ban-the-Box law prohibiting employers from asking about an applicant’s criminal history before the initial interview. This inquiry should occur after the interview to ensure fair hiring practices.
Social Media Privacy
Employers are barred from requesting social media account login credentials from applicants. This protects individual privacy rights.
Immunity for Employers
Employers are generally immune from civil liability for disclosing criminal background information if they have obtained the applicant’s consent and conducted the check within legal boundaries.
Healthcare Providers
Healthcare providers such as non-licensed and licensed ambulance personnel have specific guidelines including mandatory criminal record checks.
Criminal Background Screening Types
The types of criminal background screening are the following:
Criminal Record Checks
These checks review past criminal convictions, pending cases, and sometimes arrest records. This information is obtained from state and local court records and the Louisiana State Police.
Sex Offender Registry
Checking the sex offender registry is possible through the Louisiana State Police.
Fingerprinting
Fingerprint-based background screening is a national-level screening. The Louisiana State Police will receive the fingerprint and forward it to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for a national-level check.
Criminal Background Screening Reporting
Here are some limitations on criminal background screening reporting in Louisiana:
Reporting Period
Non-conviction records, meaning arrests that did not lead to a conviction, have a reportable limit of seven years. However, criminal convictions do not have a reporting limit.
Expunged Records
In Louisiana, expunged records do not appear on background screenings and cannot be used in hiring decisions.
Criminal Background Screening Resources
Criminal background screening has two main resources.
Louisiana State Police
Louisiana State Police provide criminal history information to employers and other requesting agencies. However, most information is available through authorized agencies.
Professional Background Screening Companies
Many employers rely on third-party companies for criminal background screenings. Most of these companies are authorized by the Louisiana State Police and are well-versed in the relevant laws and regulations. Therefore, hiring companies, like Comprehensive Screening Solutions, ensures a prompt and smooth screening process.
Final Thoughts
Criminal background screening is vital in Louisiana in various contexts. However, it is a complex process involving federal and state laws. Because of this, hiring a professional Louisiana-authorized agency is wise. It will hasten and comply with the relevant regulations.

the stand in -luke hughes-

summary: y/n needed a date, and quick. with nobody else available, she turned to the only guy she knew was available. her best friends little brother. so what if they never got along? what could possibly go wrong?
word count: 5k
pairing: luke hughes x reader, jack hughes x bestfriend!platonic reader
notes: recently inspired by a book i just finished reading.
you're coming to the wedding, right? i don't think i could handle things without you also can't wait to meet your fiance love you so much <3
y/n stared at her phone as the texts from her cousin kept coming in. she was getting married to the guy she had been in a relationship with since basically kindergarten. marc, short for marcella, & jacob were barely ever apart growing up & it only escalated from there when they gave in to their feelings and started dating in 6th grade.
the longer y/n stared at the screen, the more she regretted ever mentioning she had a fiance. but she knew her family would get suspicious and try to set her up with someone if she showed up single again.
when she informed them she really was getting married, she was not banking on her fiance leaving her.
she whipped out her phone and sent a desperate text to her best friend.
jack i need your help. call me asap
within seconds, her phone was ringing with the signature song jack had assigned himself. when she picked up the phone, she didn't hesitate to start explaining. it was coming out so fast, he had to stop her.
"slow down, y/n. take a breath and then tell me what's got you so worried."
and she listened. she took a deep breath and sighed. "my cousin is getting married in a few weeks and i made the mistake of telling her about my fiance."
"but you don't have one because jerry is a jackass."
"mildly put, but yeah." she ran a hand through her hair. "i want to tell her that we're not together anymore but that would mean some excruciating mental pain at the wedding."
"right. when your entire family tries to set you up with a single guy there."
"see? you understand me, jack." she smiled. "so, i was wondering if-"
"you know i would love to. but unfortunately, i will be busy planning something super spectacular."
"i hate you." but she didn't. not even a little.
"no you don't." y/n could hear the smirk through the phone.
"jack, what am i supposed to do?"
"you could tell marc the truth and hopefully she won't tell the rest of your family."
"be realistic."
"you're right. i knew it as soon as the words left my mouth." jack looked around his apartment. "oh, i got it. hear me out, okay?"
"what's your idea?" she knew she was going to regret asking, due to the tone in his voice.
"luke's free."
"are you kidding? i said be realistic, jack. that is the worst possible idea ever."
"no. the worst possible idea would be telling them the truth, remember?"
"but i don't want to go with luke. he's the exact opposite of jerry."
"hey, i heard that!" she could hear luke's voice somewhere in the background.
"jack hughes, do you have me on speaker?!"
"only for a second. i had to set it on my dresser to grab something. but you're off now." he chuckled. "and luke may be the exact opposite of jerry, but that's a good thing."
"enlighten me."
"well for starters, he's nicer to me than jerry ever was. and two, he would never ever break off your engagement for stupid reasons."
"well we would never be engaged, so there's that."
"look, do you want a solution or not?"
"a helpful one would be great."
"luke is a good guy, whether you choose to believe it or not. and i'm not just saying that because he's my brother." it was jack's turn to sigh. "just please give him a chance. it's only going to be for one night, isn't it?"
"5 actually. gotta fly up a few days before & we'll be staying at my parent's old place." y/n rubbed her head. "i hate that i'm desperate enough to actually consider using luke of all people."
"hey, i heard that too!"
"take me off of speaker, jack."
"okay okay. you're off. for real this time." jack was laughing but y/n didn't find it funny. although she and luke were never shy when it came to their dislike for one another, she didn't like him hearing how she felt. "so, desperation is making you delirious, huh?"
"i suppose so." y/n looked at her tv. "tell luke to meet me here at noon tomorrow. there's some things we need to go over if this is going to work."
"got it."
when they hung up, y/n threw herself down on the couch and groaned. she couldn't believe she was doing this. and with luke of all people.
the next day, y/n sat at her kitchen counter and stared at the clock.
11:43
she was dreading the fact that luke had somehow agreed to do this. it wasn't like him to offer her any kind of help.
11:44
time was ticking by so slowly and part of her hoped that luke decided he wanted to back out. but that hope was shattered when not even a minute later, there was a knock on her door. she opened it to find luke standing there with a forced smile on his face.
"you're early."
"yeah. figured the earlier i got here, the faster we could go over everything and i could leave."
"and here i thought it was because you actually cared." y/n playfully put her hand over her heart, acting as if she was touched by his actions. she was not.
"don't get your hopes up." luke pushed past her and entered her apartment. she turned and followed him as he set his stuff down on the counter she had just vacated. "jack said he would pay me for this."
"i hope you like having one brother because after today, he's dead."
"relax. i was joking. he's not paying me. but he does owe me huuuuge for this."
"okay you don't have to act like putting up with me is that big of a deal."
"oh, but it is." luke avoided eye contact and looked at his phone. for some reason, his words stung her a little. but she had no idea why. "okay so what do we need to go over?"
"well, you already knew jerry-"
"unfortunately."
"so i just need to go over some things i told my cousin about him and we'll need to spend some time perfecting your acting skills."
"did you happen to tell your cousin his name?"
"no. you can still be luke."
"good. because jerry is the one person i hate" luke smiled and finally looked at y/n. "besides you of course."
"lovely. let's get started, shall we."
over the next 4 days, y/n and luke met in public places to test everything she had taught him. it was not easy most of the time so on day 5, she requested that jack come along with them.
that didn't work because he laughed at everything luke did. he knew his brother was way better than jerry was and seeing him try to act like that guy made jack laugh uncontrollably.
when luke was in the bathroom, jack looked at y/n.
"what?"
"i'm realizing now that you are a saint."
"what do you mean?"
"for starters, you put up with jerry for so long and now you're putting up with luke acting like him. and you're spending time with luke without complaining or yelling at him or wanting to rip his head off."
"well, it's not like i had a choice." y/n rolled her eyes and placed her gaze on her best friend. "what's this super spectacular thing you're planning?"
"it's a surprise, sweetheart." jack chuckled. "and you can't give me that look because i'm not caving to it this time."
"you suck, hughes."
"don't doubt it." he smiled. "but you love me anyway."
"always." y/n shook her head and looked toward the bathroom. "does he always take forever or is this new?"
"maybe he ran into a girl on his way and now he's getting her number."
"oh boy. do i feel sorry for the girl who ends up with that kid."
"careful. that's your fiance you're talking about." luke appeared at the table, causing y/n to jump a little. he took his seat next to jack. "what's next on the schedule?"
"nothing. we're actually done for today. you are relieved of your duties, oh kind sir."
"okay cool." he quickly stood back up. "same time tomorrow?"
"yeah. don't be late again."
"you got it, boss." luke said goodbye to jack and y/n before walking out of the building. when he was gone, jack looked at her.
"i just witnessed over an hour of civilized conversation." he chuckled.
"there's a first time for everything. doesn't mean it's going to be an every day thing after this is all said and done."
"fair point." he smiled. "but at least you're getting along for now."
"i suppose that's one way of looking at it."
---------
on the day they had to fly up for the wedding, y/n and luke woke up early. she wanted to have the earliest flight possible so she could spend more time with her family, even though she knew they were going to pester her endlessly about her upcoming 'wedding'.
"got everything, right?" luke asked as he hauled their bags to jack's car. y/n looked through her list and nodded.
"yup. we're good to go." she yawned and climbed into the passenger seat and waited for jack to start the drive to the airport.
after 10 minutes in silence, luke spoke up. "i'm not so sure about this. what if i do something wrong and mess this up for you?"
"we've been practicing for weeks. you're going to do great, luke. i just know it." she turned to look at him with a smile. it calmed him down for a minute but once she started a conversation with jack, his worry kept coming back. he really didn't want to let her down.
jack parked where he needed to and luke grabbed the bags.
"i'm going to miss you, jack."
"it's only a week. that'll fly by."
"but a week with luke? that's gonna be tough."
"hey. i heard that." luke chuckled while closing the car door. he waited patiently for their talk to end.
"it's going to be fine. you've been working with him for weeks so i figure there's not too much hatred flowing through your veins right now. plus, you'll be surrounded by your own family so that will take some of the pressure off at least."
"yeah. you're right." y/n smiled. "still going to miss you though."
"obviously." he squeezed her hand and smiled. "i'll be here to pick you up in a week."
"okay. i'll see you then." y/n got out of the car and went to grab her bag. luke gently pushed her hand away and headed inside. "luke i'm capable of carrying my own bag, you know."
"i know. but i want to do something nice for once. i know you're stressed about something happening."
"does it look like i'm stressed?"
"no. but you're great at acting. you hide it well. and i know you well enough to know when you're stressing about something."
"okay." she walked beside him and smiled. "thanks."
"you don't have to thank me for simply carrying your bag, you know."
"i know i don't have to but it's what i do when someone does something nice and unexpected. like this just seems so out of character for you."
"i'm trying to get into my role as your loving fiance." he chuckled.
once they went through all the necessary checkpoints and made it to their gate, y/n was finally able to breath.
"i just realized that we spent the last few weeks making sure you were the perfect 'jerry' & i didn't get to know a whole lot about you."
"i'm sure jack has told you plenty. plus you know me. i'm not much of a sharer."
"fair enough, i suppose." she looked out the window at the planes. "are you one of those people who sleeps on a plane or one that can never fully rest?"
"when travelling with the team, i can sleep perfectly fine. but other than that, i'm a wide-awake traveler."
"yeah me too. at least i won't be alone this time."
"we can use that time to talk to each other and not focus on your family. don't need you freaking out on the plane."
"yeah. okay. yeah. thank you."
"no problem."
they boarded the flight 10 minutes later and spent the entire time just talking and bonding as if they were actually good friends. it was unreal for both of them.
the minute they pulled up to y/n's old house, things felt off. the worry was back for both of them and before they walked in, luke reached down and held onto her hand. she gave him a look before he just shrugged.
"we're engaged, remember?"
"oh. right. i forgot for a second."
"it's going to be fine, y/n."
"i'm sure it will be." she looked at him and smiled a little. she followed luke slowly as he squeezed her hand for reassurance. they walked into the house and her parents came flying around the corner.
"oh it's so good to see you, y/n." her mom pulled her into a hug while her dad shook luke's hand. "oh and you must be the fiance."
"it's nice to meet you ma'am. i'm luke." he held his hand out but her mom pulled him into a hug.
"it's nice to finally meet you, luke." she pulled back and smiled. "oh marc is going to be so happy when she sees you guys tomorrow. she's been talking nonstop about the wedding so seeing her favorite cousin will be like a breath of fresh air."
"i can't wait to see her, mom." y/n smiled and before she could even try, luke was grabbing the bags and following y/n's dad up the stairs to their room. "i'm gonna go make sure dad doesn't scare luke too much."
she hurried up the stairs and went to the room. luke was standing at the window of her childhood bedroom and her dad was nowhere in sight.
"i like your parents. they're very kind."
"i like your parents too. they're a lot like mine in so many ways."
"i totally understand that." he smiled and turned around. "are we capable of sharing this bed?"
"we can try. i'm sorry in advance."
"no, no. it's alright. i should be the one saying sorry. we've known each other how long & i've never really been all that kind to you."
"i haven't been kind to you either, luke. just used to putting up with you for jack's sake."
"thanks." he chuckled. "but we can manage for 5 days, right?"
"well, you did tell me that i'm good at acting so i'm definitely capable of pulling this off." she smiled. "and you're really good too. we have nothing to be worried about."
"absolutely nothing." luke smiled and walked towards the door. "wait, what if nobody believes we're really a thing and they make us prove it with, like, a kiss or something?"
"i'm sure that won't happen. they're never weird like that."
"let's hope we can make it the entire trip without having to kiss. i couldn't imagine kissing you."
"hey, i'm a fantastic kisser. thank you very much."
"i'm sure you are but i just don't have the desire to find out." he smiled.
"okay, fair enough." y/n smiled at him and set her bag on the side of the bed before taking a seat and looking at luke. "marc is going to be obsessed with you."
"why do you say that?"
"she loves guys with curly hair. you should see the guy she's going to marry."
"speaking of them, how long have they been together?"
"they met in kindergarten. i witnessed the moment they met. it was adorable. they were inseparable for years but they didn't admit their feelings until 6th grade." y/n smiled while recalling the moment marcella and jacob knew they were going to be together forever. "they've been together ever since."
"really? that's honestly a sweet story." luke smiled. "so they've really never spent any significant time apart?"
"nope. the longest they were separated was the summer before our freshman year of high school when our family went on a cruise. my parents invited jacob to come along with us but his family went to visit his dying grandfather so he chose them."
"wow. 2 months." luke chuckled. "i can't even imagine being dependent on someone as much as they are on each other."
"me either, honestly. jerry was the first guy i ever had a solid connection like that with. and he'll likely be my last."
"unless you and jack follow through with your pact, right?"
"right? well, actually, even if we follow through with it, doesn't mean i'll have the same feelings for him that marc has for jacob."
"right. but at least you'll know jack would never leave you like jerry did."
"okay. that's true." y/n glanced at the picture on her desk. she stood up and walked over to it. "thank you for doing this, luke. i really appreciate it."
"of course." he stood behind her and smiled. "just remember this when i ask for a favor."
"noted." y/n set the picture down and turned to face him. she was about to comment on the close proximity but the doorbell rang. "are you ready to meet the happy couple?"
"yes." he walked to the door and waited. "lead the way."
it should've surprised y/n when, within 2 minutes, jacob and marcella were already calling luke one of their 'best friends'. but it didn't surprise her one bit.
despite her own resentment towards the youngest hughes brother, she couldn't deny that he was actually a likeable person to everyone else.
when they were alone again, y/n leaned against the wall and watched the smile on luke's face. he looked up at her and the smile fell, but only briefly.
"i love your family. hard to believe you're related to any of them."
"funny, luke. i say the same about you and your family. ellen, jim, jack and quinn are absolute saints. and then there's you."
"you sound insane." luke chuckled.
"get used to it. i'm going to be apart of your family in the future."
"you remember we're not actually engaged, don't you?"
"of course i remember it's fake. it's the only way i can tolerate you this long." y/n shook her head. "i was talking about my marriage to your brother."
"quinn?" luke raised his eyebrow. "wasn't aware you had a thing for him."
"wasn't it you who just brought up my pact with jack earlier? how did you forget about that?"
"relax. i was messing with you." luke smiled. "you and jack are rock solid. after this wedding, there will be nothing standing in your way of happily ever after."
something didn't feel right with the way the words came out of his mouth. they tasted funny and he didn't know why.
on the day of the wedding, y/n was in the room with marcella as she was finishing getting ready. marc turned to smile at y/n.
"thank you so much for being here. and for bringing luke. i love seeing you happy." marcella smiled widely. "and it's been a long time since you've been happy."
"yeah. luke's really, really great. i'm very lucky" y/n forced a smile. she hated lying to her family but it was better than telling them the truth. "i'm not as lucky as you, of course."
"jacob is perfect in every possible way. i love him so much."
"i know. i can't believe you guys have known each other your whole lives basically. it still doesn't feel real."
"the first day of kindergarten was the best day of my life." marcella looked at her reflection in the mirror and smiled. "you're going to make a really beautiful bride, y/n. and i can't wait to see you walk down the aisle in your wedding dress."
"you're gonna have to wait a while. we haven't even picked a date yet." y/n sighed. "plus there's so much that goes into planning a wedding." she gestured around them but smiled as she did so.
"i don't think luke would care about a huge ceremony. i think he would be happy doing it in front of just a priest. or even at the courthouse. he loves you and he can't wait to marry you."
"and how do you know this?"
"because he's my new bestie. i know all his secrets."
y/n froze. did luke tell marcella that he wasn't really her fiance? he couldn't have. right?
"plus, he told me."
"what?"
"he told me he loved you and couldn't wait to marry you."
"oh." y/n let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "i love him too."
and she found that wasn't really a lie. over the course of their visit to her old home, y/n began to warm-up to luke. he no longer got on her nerves like he did before. she loved him, sure. but it was more like she loved him like a brother.
and for some reason, even that felt weird to say or think about.
"you ready to go out there and marry the love of your life?" y/n asked while holding out her hand to marcella.
"always." she took y/n's hand and walked to where her father was waiting.
"i'll see you in there." y/n kissed her cousin's cheek and walked in with one of the groomsmen.
the second y/n walked in, luke couldn't take his eyes off of her. he had seen her dressed up before, as she had come to many team events as jack or jesper's date, but he couldn't help the way he was staring. the dress fit her so perfectly and her hair was done up perfectly as well. she was the most gorgeous person in the room and as far as everyone knew, she was his.
but reality sank in and luke knew she wasn't really his. it was clear to him that her heart belonged to jack. there was no way he could stop it. they were just meant to be. plain and simple.
y/n stood in her place at the end of the aisle and as marcella walked towards jacob, y/n' looked around the room. all eyes were on marcella, except for luke's. he was staring right at her. y/n's cheeks felt like they were suddenly on fire as she looked away from him. this was just an act.
to y/n, it felt like the ceremony took forever. she kept glancing at luke to find him already looking her way. and she couldn't deny that he looked good in his suit and tie ensemble.
when the reception began, y/n's gaze immediately went to luke. it was starting to become a habit she didn't want.
he smirked from his seat between her parents and set his phone in his pocket. y/n went over to him and smiled.
"wanna dance?"
"with you? always." luke stood up and took her hand. she tried not to stay on the words he spoke, knowing it was only because her parents were right there. but as they danced, something felt completely right.
they were getting along silently and it was nice for a change.
their moment was interrupted when luke's phone vibrated in his pocket. he pulled it out and frowned.
"it's jack. he says he's been trying to call you for an hour but you haven't been answering."
"i have my phone on the 'do not disturb' function. i didn't want it to go of during the ceremony."
"you should call him back." luke took a step back from her and sighed. "i'm sure it's important."
"luke-"
"it's okay. i'll just go talk to marc and jacob." he nodded towards the married couple and headed in their direction. y/n sighed and picked her phone up off the table. she quickly dialed jack's number and waited for him to pick up.
"about time. i've been trying to reach you for an hour. i was beginning to think you and luke killed each other" he sighed. "speaking of which, how are things going?"
"that's why you've been trying to reach me?" y/n let out a frustrated sigh. "things between us were good. we even danced until we got interrupted."
"i'm sorry about that. i didn't know."
"it's alright, jack." she glanced over at luke. "is that the only reason you needed me?"
"yes. wait, no. i wanted to tell you that you look really pretty in your dress."
"my dress? wait, can you see me?"
"no. luke took a picture and sent it to me, along with a text that read 'you made a mistake not coming with her to this thing. by far the most beautiful person in the room'. i wanted to let you know."
"oh." was all y/n could manage to say. she looked back over to where luke was last seen and smiled when she caught him staring again. "i'm gonna let you go, jack. there's something i need to do."
"good luck." jack chuckled before hanging up.
when she was free from the conversation, she put her phone back on the table, told her parents to keep an eye on it, then headed over to luke.
"what did he want to talk to you about? did he finally tell you how in love he was?"
"no. that would be ridiculous." she looked at him and grabbed his hand. "i need to talk to him for a minute. you guys mind?" she asked marc and jacob, who seemed to be in their own world. she dragged luke to a quiet hallway.
"what's going on? what did he say to you?"
"you texted him earlier."
"i did."
"what did you say?"
"nothing bad, if that's what you're asking."
"show me." she looked into his eyes. "please?"
"why is it so important?"
"jack said i looked really pretty in my dress."
for the first time all week, luke's gaze was anywhere but y/n. "okay."
"how does he know?"
"i don't know. kid's got a thing for you and thinks you're always pretty so he probably just assumed."
"luke, please." y/n rolled her eyes. "jack told me you sent him a picture of me in the dress. he mentioned there was a text included."
"what about it?"
"you called me the most beautiful person in the room. which i can't believe."
"fine. here's my phone." he swiped the screen open and handed it to her. "you wanted proof? here it is."
y/n read the text exchange jack told her about. seeing luke compliment her made her melt. it was the nicest thing he had ever said about her. she handed the phone back to him and smiled.
"luke, this is incredibly sweet. but you're very wrong."
"what do you mean?"
"at a wedding, the bride is always the most beautiful person in the room. none of the guests can ever eclipse that."
"of course marc is beautiful. but i can't help it if i think you're more beautiful." he ran his hands through his hair.
"i appreciate the compliment, luke. i really do. but there are rules for a wedding."
"i'm aware now. thank you." luke looked at her with his signature crooked smirk. "i'm sorry for the past, by the way. maybe jack was onto something when he made a pact with you."
"can we stop talking about your brother, who most definitely doesn't have a thing for me?"
"oh, he most certainly does. how could you not see it?"
"i don't know. too focused on his brother, i suppose. think quinn and i have a shot?" she glanced up at luke and giggled when his smile dropped.
"i just complimented you for the very first time and you want to talk about being interested in quinn? unbelievable. when will it be my turn?"
y/n didn't answer with her words. instead, she pulled him close and kissed him. it started as a way to shut him up but when she went to pull away, luke's hands found her waist and he tugged her closer, deepening the kiss in the process.
"it's always going to be your turn, luke." y/n grinned when they finally pulled apart.
"jack's going to hate me." he chuckled before resting his forehead against hers. his eyes were still closed but the goofy smile stayed on his face. "but it was definitely worth it."
"hmm, was it?" y/n leaned up to peck his lips.
"oh. for sure." luke held her tight against his chest. "i can't believe i was stupid and rude to you. when i could've been enjoying that kiss for years."
"the past doesn't matter anymore, luke. we've got a whole lifetime to makeup for that."
"damn right we do."
luke smirked and pulled her in for another kiss. he still couldn't believe it was happening. but as y/n kissed him back, he could get used to making up for the past.

Necessary Revenge
Art Donaldson x reader
Warnings - 18+, smut, sub!art, dirty talk, handjob, overstimulation
Word count - 2111
a/n - yeah this is definitely on the list of the dirtiest things i've written. by popular request, here's part 2 to Cheer Up, but it can also be read by itself. Also tysm for all the love on Cheer Up. Sorry this took so long, and I hope you enjoy :)
You hated it when Art teased you, which is exactly why he does it. All you want is a loving boyfriend who listens to you and does what you say, is that too much to ask? Apparently so.
Obviously, the only reasonable solution is to seek revenge. Unfortunately for Art, after being denied an orgasm earlier after a rough day, that’s exactly what you plan to do. Well, maybe not unfortunate since this is most likely what he wants.
You were trying to study and watch playbacks of matches on your laptop to better your skills, but since you’re no longer in the mood, you decide you might as well close it.
After cleaning up your area, you head into the bedroom to see Art leaning against the headboard on his phone, his back propped by pillows. The television is on but on low volume, he always needed some type of background noise. Art glances up from his phone once he notices you walk in and can’t help the smirk that grows on his face. As soon as he looks back down, you shoot him a glare.
“Back for more?” Art asks.
Just you wait.
“Not exactly,” you tell him as you climb next to him on the bed, using the sweetest tone possible. You get yourself situated against the headboard with him, making sure you’re comfortable – you plan on being here a while. “What are you doing?”
“Just texting Patrick, he’s complaining about the match he just lost and how he needs to find a way to improve.”
“Well, he always was a sore loser,” you say. Art hums and nods in agreement as he continues to text his best friend. He doesn’t make a move to continue the conversation, so you decide to begin your revenge plan.
You turn your attention to the tv hanging on the wall as you place your hand on Art’s thigh. He must be too into his phone since he doesn’t notice, so you continue to raise your hand higher along the fabric of his sweatpants.
Art’s body tenses as he feels your hand move up his body, his fingers frozen above the keyboard on his phone. You notice the questioning glance he gives you from the corner of your eye, but you continue to play innocent as you keep your attention forward.
You wait for Art’s focus to go back to his phone before drifting your hand even higher and stopping right over his crotch. You don’t hide the smile that starts to grow on your face as you feel his cock slowly starting to harden over your touch. Art’s breathing begins to shallow out as he tries to maintain his focus and keep his mind straight. Well, that is until you give his crotch a firm squeeze causing him to let out a small moan and his eyes to flutter.
“What are you doing?” he asks you, his voice low.
“What do you mean? I just want to spend some time with you,” you answer in a casual tone, but Art can see right through your facade. He can feel his heartbeat getting faster. You finally turn your head towards him to notice his blue eyes not slightly widened as he stares back at you. You notice the way his chest slowly rises and falls in anticipation as his grip tightens around his phone. “Is something wrong?”
He gulps. “N-No, just a question.”
“I’m pretty sure Patrick is waiting for you to text him back,” you say, nodding towards his screen.
Art continues to stare for a few more seconds before nodding and looking back at his phone, but you don’t take your eyes off of him. You let your hand hover above him as you wait for him to send a few more messages out before beginning to palm him through his sweatpants.
Art bites his lip as he lets a whimper. His cock is at full attention now as your hand continues to move. The grip he has on his phone is faltering, his hands starting to tremble and his face completely flushed. When his hands fall into his lap along with his phone, you stop and raise your eyebrows.
“Pick it back up and continue texting him,” you command, your tone firm. His phone is vibrating non-stop from Patrick’s pettiness.
“Baby-.”
“I said continue,” you tell him.
A look of desperation flashes across his face before he lifts his phone back up and responds to the messages. Your hand starts back up again, and Art lets out a noise, sounding like he wants to start crying.
He’s falling apart with just a touch of your hand.
Art is starting to get annoyed at Patrick’s texts and wishes they would just stop so he could enjoy himself. He knows you’re not too pleased right now, but he doesn’t care. It just feels too good.
You lean your head into his neck for you to kiss just below his ear, his favorite spot and his weakness. “What’s wrong? You were so cocky earlier, where’s that same energy?”
A shiver runs through Art’s body at the feeling of your breath on his neck. He lets out another whine as he closes his eyes for a second before opening them back up. He’s looking at his phone, but given the fact that his head is starting to feel empty, he can’t really make out the words on the screen.
“You don’t have anything to say for yourself?” you taunt as you press down harder on Art’s crotch, causing him to buck up into your hand.
You pull away from his neck to get a good look at his face, which now has a distant look on it. His mouth is ajar as he looks back at you. You tilt your head, waiting for him to respond to you, but all he does is whimper and pant. He’s a complete mess.
You bring him into a kiss by grabbing the back of his neck, which he happily gives in to. The kiss is filled with nothing but need – more on his end than yours. Art drops his phone on the bed next to him so he can grab your waist, pulling you even closer to him. He whimpers into your mouth as you give his hair a quick put firm tug.
He plunges his tongue into your mouth, needing even more from you. You allow it for a moment before pulling back just a little to wrap your lips around his tongue. Art lets his eyes roll into his head at the feeling of you sucking his tongue. He feels his climax coming quickly from the combined pleasure, and you can tell by the fact of him squirming under your touch more and more.
“You’re not going to cum without my permission are you?” you ask after pulling away from his mouth.
Art feels his eyes become heavy as his forehead pressed against yours. “No.”
“Good boy,” you smile, and that brings Art even closer to the edge. He removes his hand from your waist to grab a hold of the cover beneath him.
“Can I cum?” he pleads as he throws his head back against the headboard, your hand still on the back of his neck.
“Not yet.”
“Baby please,”he pleads again, his breathing speeding up.
“No,” you tell him, wanting to torture him.
“Baby I can’t. I-I can’t,” he stutters, his eyes squeezed shut and his brows furrowed.
“That’s too bad,” you tell him. You feel his hips stutter under your touch making it known that he’s about to cum anyways. You already knew he wouldn’t be able to hold back for much longer.
Art lets out a cry as his orgasm floods through his body and shoots out of him. A wet patch begins to appear through his sweatpants as you keep on pressing against him. He continues to roll his hips into your hand as he rides his orgasm out, a string of gasps falling out of his mouth.
“Oh no,” you fake pout, “Looks like you didn’t make it.”
“I’m sorry, I tried,” he pants as he opens, looking down at the stain on his pants before making eye contact with you. A look of embarrassment falls on his face.
He’s so cute.
You move your hand away from him. “What a shame,” you shake your head in fake disappointment. There’s a moment of silence before you say, “pull your pants down.”
“What?” Art asks, confused. He thought you were done, but he was so wrong.
“You heard me,” you say in a plain tone.
Art hesitates before shimmying his pants down his legs to his knees, along with his underwear. You look down to see a mess of his cum covering his shaft, and as you take a look at his underwear, you see some sticking to the fabric. His cock is red and starting to soften, but that’s going to change.
Art gives you a look of realization as he lifts his head from the headboard once it registers in his mind what you’re about to do. “Please don’t.”
You ignore his request as you wrap your hand around his shaft. He jumps at the feeling of your cold hand around him, still sensitive from his orgasm. You stare into his eyes as you begin moving your hand up and down. Art lets out a pathetic whine as his body jerks, trying to escape your touch, but it doesn’t work.
“You know, you’re just so easy,” you tease.
“Baby, please-,” Art cuts himself off with a whimper, his hips starting to writhe against the cover.
“Please what? You should be thankful that I’m doing this, unlike how you denied me my orgasm earlier,” you tell him. “I’m letting you cum as many times as you want.”
“Oh my god,” he says as he drops his head. His voice strangled as his second orgasm unexpectedly arrives. You watch as his cum lands on your hands and the bottom of his white shirt.
A sticky and wet sound echoes through the room as your hand speeds up around him. Art’s mouth falls open as his breathing picks up once again. He looks at you, silently begging, but you ignore him once again. You remove the hand from behind his neck and place it on one of his legs to help keep his body still.
“Say you’re sorry,” you tell him as you run your thumb over his tip a few times..
“I’m sorry,” he gasps, his grip on the cover tightening. He feels like his hands might be stuck in fists by the time this is over.
You pretend to think in your head before saying, “I don’t think you mean it.”
His voice is high and whiny as he throws his head back once again and says, “I am. I promise.”
“Hmm, I don’t know,” you shrug. “Make me believe it.”
Art begins to rethink his choices and starts to regret messing with you. “I’m so, so, so sorry, baby. I swear. It was wrong of me to do that to you.”
“Hmm.”
“Baby.”
You smirk at his desperation. “I forgive you.”
“Oh, no, I think I’m going to cum again,” he cries, his eyes rolling back once again as his body tenses.
“Go ahead,” you tell him.
Art’s third orgasm hits him harder than his previous two. He trembles as his back arches away from the headboard while watered down cum spurts out of him. Drool spills out the side of his mouth as you continue the motions of your hand.
He uses a hand and reaches down to pull yours away from his cock, but you slap it away. Art gasps as he continues to twitch in your hand, feeling like he can’t stop as cum flows out of him. You finally move your hand away, but his cock continues to spasm with your touch.
Wanting to torture him one last time, you lean down to wrap your mouth him, sucking and cleaning. Art’s body jerks as he curls forward and grabs your head. You laugh as you pull away.
You lean back against the headboard, pulling his head into the side of your neck to help him calm down. His breath tickles you as he tries to slow his heart down. You glance down at his spent cock with a smile as you gently rub his back.
After a long moment of silence, Art’s phone vibrates from its place on the bed beside him.
You shake your head as you ask, “Are you going to answer that?”
“Patrick can fucking wait,” he breathes out.

“Jesus Christ, fuck this show, fuck everything, what the fuck is wrong with the writing?” You exclaim in annoyance after witnessing the scene that was supposed to be heavily impactful be butchered.
“That is the most anticlimactic death scene I've ever witnessed, this has to be a joke.” You furiously ramble. You decided to give House of The Dragon a try after your friend had recommended it, the show currently has released three seasons, with the fourth season in production, you thoroughly enjoyed season one and decided to binge all the seasons.
However, everything started to go downhill from season two, yet you still decided to watch for the sake of your favourite characters, daemon and aemond, only to witness the battle that was supposed to be intense and stressful get finished in the span of two minutes.
You stared at the screen, rolling your eyes in annoyance as you witnessed Aemond falling into the lake along with Vhagar, Daemon was knocked off Caraxes too and fell to his death.
They wrapped up the battle in mere moments, which made you angry as you were so hyped up to see them fight.
“Ugh, I never hated a show more than this, waste of my time, they did season one so well, what happened to rest? I did not expect this.” You sigh in frustration, feeling like you just wasted your time.
“If only… If only I ever get a chance, I'd change entire plot and script because fuck this.” You lay down on your sofa, staring at the ceiling, the show still playing in the background. You recollected the entire plot in your head, thinking of every moment in the show, trying to come up with an easy solution.
“If only they had married Jace to Helaena, it would have been peaceful.. Or at least if they had an older daughter married to Aegon or Aemond.” You mumble, but then shake your head, “What am I saying? Things still would've been complicated anyway.” You wonder in disbelief at your own words.
You yawned loudly, stretching out your limbs and blinking your eyes rapidly, your vision began to get blurry and you sighed in content, finally willingly wanting to sleep after you forced yourself to stay up all night to binge the series.
Your vision darkened slowly as you closed your eyelids, head spinning as you took slow breaths of air, cool breeze brushes past your cheeks and before you know it, you're slowly succumbing into slumber.
You blink your eyes open, realising you fell asleep, you sigh stirring on the soft sheets, entangling them between your legs.
Soft sheets?
Your sofa doesn't have any sheets.
You quickly blink again, taking the note of a translucent veil hanging from above, surrounding the bed you're in, creating a curtain around your bed.
Why were you in bed?
You sit up looking around, taking in your surroundings, your eyes widening in fear as you don't recognize this room at all, ancient tapestries, brown wooden furniture, and the source of light being only from the candle.
Have you been kidnapped?
You look down at your body, noticing you are in a white nightgown instead of the shorts you fell asleep in. Your heart begins to race and you panic, unable to understand where you are or how you got there. You steady your breathing, wondering if someone kidnapped you to play a role in a mediaeval film of theirs? But why would anyone do that?
The sound of metal clanking harshly against the floor and a small scream made your head turn the direction it came from, the liquid in the decanter spilling out rapidly as the person behind the fallen cutlery stood in shock.
“The princess is conscious!” She yells loudly before turning around and running out of the room in a hurry.
Princess?
Is this a prank?
You barely have any moment to think when you hear the sound of multiple footsteps coming from outside to your direction, you could almost feel the ground rumbling, noting that everyone was rushing to this room.
You push the veil to the side and stand up, getting out the bed and examining your surroundings, looking at the sigils and the paintings. All of this looked familiar somehow.
A small gasp echoed through the room, coming from the entrance, which made you turn around to take a look at who was in the room once again. Your eyes widened at the sight.
A lady with platinum blonde hair, blue eyes stood in front of you, someone who resembled Rhaenyra and next to her stood Jace and Luke breathing heavily, looking at you in shock.
Did the house of the dragon cast kidnap you to play a prank on you?
That sounds too unreasonable.
“Oh my sweet daughter!” Rhaenyra rushes over to you, embracing you tightly, tears flow down her cheeks as she peppers you with kisses “I-i i cannot believe this, you finally woke up after many years.” She sobs, you look at her questioningly. “Sister.” Jacaerys speaks up, coming to you and joining the embrace of you and Rhaenyra, Luke joins in as well.
“We missed you.” Jace says and you stare at all of them confused.
This has to be a joke.
They notice the expression on your face and their faces immediately drop, “Your grace, the princess woke up after many years, she might not be able to recognise you.” The maester chimes in, Rhaenyra nods, sniffling yet understanding your condition.
“Emma? Is this a joke?” You question, referring to the actor of Rhaenyra, “I’m not Aemma darling, she is your grandmother.” Rhaenyra corrects you. “I think she must be confusing the names of everyone due to her hazy memory.” The maester tries explaining, you sigh.
Yeah this must be a dream.
You shake your head gently and immediately slap yourself to wake yourself up.
“Ouch!” You yell in pain, cupping the cheek you slapped yourself on, Rhaenyra is mortified and the guards rush in and hold your arms back so you don't further hurt yourself.
This is not a dream.
You can’t feel pain in your dreams and you will wake up right before impact.
You look at Rhaenyra’s face, she is as real as a living person, standing right in front of you.
She looks just like Emma. of course, after all Rhaenyra is indeed played by them.
But this is not them.
She is not Emma
You can feel the vibe, it's very different.
You’ve met Emma before in costume, yet they did not give off the vibes as what Rhaenyra is giving off right now, after all, when you met them; it was just a show, but now it's your reality.
Did you die in your world?
You’ve definitely transmigrated into this show, but as who?
Did Rhaenyra ever have a daughter? You knew she didn't.
“Mirror, get me a mirror.” You ask and they look at you questioningly, your form begins to shake as the realisation is too overwhelming, there are many questions in your mind, “Please!” You cry, and immediately a servant moves and rushes over with a mirror.
Your eyes widen.
It's you.
You had not become someone else, but you remained as yourself. “What is my name?” You ask, “Y/N.” Rhaenyra replies. Your mind begins to spin, you are in another world as yourself, you have not possessed anyone else, which means your body must’ve disappeared from your world.
You try to stay calm in this situation, breathing heavily, “You are?” You ask, wanting to reconfirm, you watch as Rhaenyra's face crumples into that of a sad face, probably feeling hurt that her own daughter doesn't recognise her.
“I'm your mother, you are my eldest daughter, they—” She points at Jace, Luke and Joffrey, “—are your younger siblings.” You turn towards them.
You nod, pretending to play the part while you figure out everything. “I'm sorry, I do not remember.” You apologise and Rhaenyra shakes her head, “It is alright, you have been unconscious since the past six years, this is better than losing my daughter.” She replies.
“Six years… Did I fall unconscious after Aemond lost his eye?” You think out loud and Rhaenyra looks at you in shock, “You remember him?” She asks and you clear your throat, “It's hazy, my memory.” You answer back.
“Your grace, the event was probably traumatic for her, hence why she can remember it in parts.” The maester explains it to Rhaenyra, you mentally thank the maester for covering up for you always.
You noticed how they were all dressed up, looked as if they were about to leave but their plans were cut short, and you recognize this gown of Rhaenyra.
It was the gown she wore when she left for King's Landing, in order to settle the matter of Luke's right to driftmark. “You guys were departing somewhere?” You ask, wanting to really confirm it, “Hm? Huh, Yes, We were about to leave for King's Landing.” Jacaerys answers your question.
“Can I tag along?” You blurt the question.
“.. Tag along?” Lucerys repeats your words in confusion, your language confusing him.
“I mean to say, can I come along?” You ask the question in a proper manner, Rhaenyra shakes her head, “No- you've just woken up, you might still be weak- I cannot risk-”
“Mother! I am perfectly fine!” You cut her off, breaking free from the guards hands and running around the room, doing jumping jacks, showing her that you aren't weak and are perfectly capable of physical activity.
Rhaenyra watches in shock, seeing you move like this but she chuckles, shaking her head in comic disbelief, “I guess she has not changed after all.” The maester comments which makes Jace and Luke smile.
“Very well, Pack the princess’ belongings, and get her ready for departure, we will depart two days later.” Rhaenyra orders the maids and you smile at her.
“But mother, I do not have many dresses—”
“You do, I had them tailored every year, whenever you grew, hoping that you would wake up.” She replies softly and you just then realise how Rhaenyra loves her children.
“The maesters said that you might not ever wake up, and that your body will be stunted from growth, yet… I'm glad their predictions never came true.” She smiles gently at you, you smile back.
The maids come in with a bath as everyone leaves, some of them begin packing your belongings. You notice how your body doesn't look how a person in a coma state should be looking especially in the mediaeval times, but instead you seem to be well taken care of, treated as if you were alive.
The maids quickly finish your bath and dress you up, you have to pretend to get used to this atmosphere and era even though you're highly uncomfortable, the mere thought of having servants made you feel bad.
And with that, the night fell, you couldn't sleep thinking about how you're going to deal with everything, could you really prevent war from happening? It happens due to a misunderstanding in the show right? What if the misunderstanding doesn't occur? Your mind was filled with such thoughts through the whole night.
In King's Landing.
“My queen, Rhaenyra, has sent a letter saying that their arrival will be delayed further.” The master sums up the contents of the letter in the council room, in front of Aemond who had been called by Alicent for an urgent matter.
“Why so?” Alicent asks, furrowing her brows.
“Princess Y/N had woken up from her unconscious state.”
An ear piercing shattering sound of glass is heard through the entire room, when turned to look at the origin, It is known that Aemond had dropped the wine glass he was drinking from.
“Y/N is awake?” Aemond asks the maester.
“Yes my prince.” The maester replies.
Aemond's heart begins to pound in his chest loudly, his mind spiralling at the thought of you finally waking up all these years later.
“Please excuse me.” Aemond gets up from the chair, excusing himself from the council and leaving the room, his brain occupied with the thoughts of you.
There wasn't a day where Aemond hadn't thought of you, he would at least think about you once a day- the news of you waking up from unconsciousness made the adrenaline in his body rush.
He felt like a hungry snake that had been starved for many years who at last found a prey to feast on, he felt like a drought-stricken land finally receiving rainfall, he felt like a garden void of any flowers which started to bloom once again.
He was thrilled.
He reminisces of the fond memories you both shared, he could never ever forget them, smiling at the thought of you.
He wondered if you had changed or remained the same.
Whatever it was, he couldn't wait.
He couldn't wait to receive you.

summary - With Sabrina being away in Europe on her tour, you just couldn’t keep up with your emotions
warnings - none
an - stripping fic is almost done, doing up the final touches before it’s yours <3
———————
Crying is a form of release, a way to let all your pent-up emotions out that have built up throughout the day. It is a quite easy option instead of losing your temper or being frustrated and sad.
Unfortunately, your body would not let you cry, for whatever reason.
It had been an awful day, and honestly an awful week, and all you wanted to do was just scream into your pillow and just let it all out. Things went wrong, people were upset, you pretty much got yelled at every day, and you had to come home to an empty house after.
Sabrina was in Europe, specifically Paris, while finishing up the last few shows of the tour. She wasn’t supposed to be home until mid-April, and normally you would never ask her to come back to you while she was on tour, but you really needed someone to lean onto and your girlfriend is always the first that comes to your mind.
The phone in your hand rang softly, your eyes focused on the screen as you waited to see if she would pick up. It was 2 AM for you, meaning it was an early morning for Sabrina, and she was usually getting ready for her show at rehearsals. She has always told you that she would prioritize your calls and do her best to answer, but it was never guaranteed while she was working, especially in the mornings.
“Y/N?” A voice sounded after the line clicked, soft and questioning, “It’s late hon, why are you up?”
You inhaled, your breath shaky and weak from the emotions piled up inside of you. Sabrina listened on the other line, waiting patiently for your response.
“What’s wrong baby?” She asked after a moment of silence, “Can’t sleep?”
“Yeah.” You mumbled, playing with the hem of your blanket, “I can’t”
A sigh came from the other end, not of annoyance but more of remorse. You heard her shuffle around, saying something inaudible to another person before the sound of a door shutting came through, the quiet chatter behind her disappearing.
“There’s melatonin in the bathroom, if you want to take that.”
“I know…I just…” Your sentence gave up on itself, struggling to find your voice to say what you felt.
“Baby.” Sabrina sounded firm, yet still gentle and loving, “Did something happen?”
Your bottom lip wobbled, the feeling of crying rising in your throat. Your hand clutched at your chest, trying to find the right way to breathe in the thick air around you.
“I just…I’ve had a r-really bad week.” You said shakily, trying but failing at steadying your voice, “I know you’re in P-Paris…but I just wish you w-were here...”
Your voice broke at the end of your words, your lip slipping between your teeth as an attempt to suppress your tears. You heard Sabrina inhale sharply on the other end, a sign of her realization and guilt.
“Oh, my love.” She cooed to you, a skill that helps soothe you, “I’m so sorry honey, I wish I could be there too.”
You nodded, a whimper passing through your lips at the thought and understanding of her being so far away. Her heart broke at the sound, her lips curling down as her mind raced with what could have potentially happened to upset you. She looked around the room as she pondered, trying to come up with a solution that would help you.
“I’m gonna come to you.” She said after a while, making up her mind, “The show can be postponed for a little.”
Your eyes snapped to your phone, wide and alarmed, “Babe no, you don’t have to.”
“Honey.” Sabrina interrupted you, her voice stern, “You need me; I’m coming home.”
You went to speak again, but the words died on your tongue as you heard her speaking to someone in the background about booking the soonest flight. You knew how incredibly stubborn she gets when she sets her mind on something, and arguing with her about leaving wouldn’t benefit anyone; Naturally, you gave up.
“Okay…okay thank you. Still with me baby?”
You nodded, wiping your eyes, “Mhm.”
“I should be home around 1 or 2, okay?”
“Ok.”
“Alright, can you do something for me?”
You nodded again, a small yawn coming through your mouth as you spoke, “Yeeaah.”
Sabrina giggled, making you smile slightly at the sweet sound, “Think you could throw on one of my tour hoodies and try to sleep?”
You hummed, carefully pulling the covers back before heading into your closet to steal the cozy article she requested, immediately sighing when the smell of her perfume hit your nose after you put the hoodie on. It was soft, warm, and infected with her aroma, your brain melting to slush at the stimulation it produced.
“Okay, I’m wearing it.” You mumbled, rubbing your eyes as you got back into bed, “…feel sleepy already…”
“That’s my girl, I’ll see you soon.” Sabrina replied softly, “I love you so much baby.”
“Mm…I love you too…” You whispered, now struggling to keep your eyes open as the hoodie was doing wonders for your insomnia.
“Sweet dreams my love.” Her voice sounded through the phone, your eyes falling shut at the sound of the line ending.
-------------
You groaned softly, peeling your eyes open to the sound of music playing softly downstairs. The sun was shining through your curtains, rays of light cast on the floor like angled pillars that of a coliseum.
With a groan, you pushed yourself up into a seated position, your head falling into your hands as you slowly woke up. You peeked an eye at your phone, seeing that the time was 3:30 in the afternoon, and started to stretch and exit your bedroom. A yawn fell from your lips; arms raised above your head with your eyes squeezed shut as you made your way downstairs towards the music. The sound of someone singing along filled your ears, a sweet and melodic voice that you knew all too well.
Once you round the corner, your heart skipped a beat from the sight. Sabrina stood at the counter, gently stirring a spoon in a saucepan while she swayed to the beat. Her hair was up in a ponytail, messily clawclipped together with her bangs settle just above her glasses. She was wearing one of your shirts, the oversized style completely swallowing her small figure like a dress, with a pair of fluffy pink socks covering her feet.
“Baby…” You whined, rubbing your hand over your eyes as you approached her.
She turned to you, a smile curved onto her lips from hearing you, “Hi beautiful.”
You grumbled something in response, the feeling of sleep still heavy on your body. She giggled at that, setting the spoon down and holding out her arms so you could fall into her. You burrowed yourself into her, your face falling to her neck as your arms went around her shoulders. She wrapped you up in her embrace, rubbing your back softly whilst leaving little kisses against your cheek.
“You’re home.” You mumbled, squeezing her gently, “Thought I was dreamin’.”
“Well, I am here! In the flesh.” Sabrina pressed her lips to your temple, “I missed you.”
Her nails ran up the back of your shirt, scratching gently at your skin. A low rumble sounded from your throat at the feeling, almost purring into her neck from her soft touch. She hummed at that, squeezing your abdomen before pulling back to cup your face.
You locked your eyes with hers, smiling softly when you noticed the subtle blush on her cheeks. She slid a little closer, her nose brushing your tentatively before you pulled her into a kiss. Your lips slotted into hers perfectly, soft, and long awaiting your attention from being away for so long. Fingers danced across her waist, squeezing and pulling her in as close as you could.
“Missed you too.” You murmured, nipping her bottom lip slightly as you pulled away, “Europe is too far; I’m going with you when you go back.”
Sabrina giggled, poking your stomach gently whilst nodding, “Yeah, I’d like that.”
Long distance is always a struggle, but a few tears and some kisses does the trick; Fortunately, you have an amazing girlfriend who can do just that.

Okay, still on this post I made a few months ago, also this post on how they could've accidentally set up buddie, I keep trying to find an equivalent to buddie in the Chris front to compare the way that Chris is added to the dynamic, but after rewatching the way Grace is introduced in h50, I have to accept that 911 has a unicorn when it comes to Eddie/Shannon/Chris and that's the thing. Eddie was always written as a widower. He's the widower single father archetype from the get-go, which means he has that doing everything for my kid while dealing with this tragic loss sympathy around him, but Shannon isn't dead yet. Which makes Shannon the screw up parent. Media as a rule doesn't do unredeemable mothers and perfect fathers. If the mother is still alive and there's a custody battle, the mother has the primary custody and the father's plot is getting the mother to trust him again. 911 is quite literally the only piece of media I can think of where it's the other way around and the father is the main character.
And putting Buck in a space where he is doing things to make Christopher's life easier and better, mostly because they were using the space around Buck to establish Eddie after Connie decided to leave the show, before we even meet Shannon is what accidentally made Buck Eddie's love interest. Because considering Eddie was created to be Maddie's love interest but that fell through when Jen decided she preferred madney, and they never fully removed the little bits from Eddie's character that give him a love interest vibe, the things that were probably there so that Buck would work as a bridge between Maddie and Eddie end up setting up Eddie with Buck because it's not there to take them from point a to b anymore, it's just establishes Eddie and their partnership. And since Buck doesn't get a compelling love interest parallel to Eddie's introduction and Shannon is fully unredeemable because leaving Chris is an unforgivable act, they accidentally created a perfect storm of slowburn crack.
A lot of the similarities between Maddie and Eddie would work to make them bond, and Maddie being a nurse parallel to the issue Eddie is having that are solved by Carla, could've created something where Buck is only a means to make them meet. But the show never followed through and they're not gonna fully rewrite the plan for Eddie, so the stuff that was supposed to lead Eddie to a love interest, lead Eddie to Buck. And Buck, who was supposed to be the best friend but not the solution to Eddie's problems, becomes the solution to Eddie's problems. What was probably outlined as ways to make Eddie appealing as a love interest that was never used with a female character, set Eddie up with Buck. We don't trust Shannon, Eddie doesn't trust Shannon, and Buck is doing stuff to make Chris' life easier while being Eddie's only friend on screen. And that's what makes us latch onto the 2 of them together even if the show wasn't leaning that hard on them in s2 beyond what was necessary to make Eddie real for the audience.
Things like the way it feels like they decided last minute that Shannon wouldn't be dead upon Eddie's introduction, Buck's struggle with wanting family, Christopher being a disabled kid who needs more assistance than Eddie knows where to find but Buck does, and little things that were definitely planned to make Eddie a love interest not a main character, considering Ryan said he was not supposed to be a lead initially, put them in this very odd spot because there aren't any single women developed around them, Shannon sucks and we are never made to root for her and then she dies, and Buck doesn't get a stable love interest until they reintroduce Taylor in s4 (I'm disregarding Ali because she isn't developed and she just exists in the background until the 218), made them this thing that exists fully on accident but it's impossible to compete with because since they were planned to be best friends they don't know how to adapt to the concept of separating them.
And obviously, the way that the show never drew a hard line between them and the way that no love interest was ever developed enough to stand a chance against their connection doesn't help, but given recent events, I totally believe that this is the product of them not knowing how to pivot out of initial plans and Ryan and Oliver having too much chemistry, and the show just leaning into it more and more as time passed until we ended up here. Which is an insane thought to process.

Ace Attorney Lawyers Ranked By Their Abilities in Physical Combat
Winston Payne: I’m pretty sure the average Tumblr user could kill Winston Payne with their bare hands.
Sebastian DeBeste: Look, the only reason why this wimp ranks higher than Payne is because he is so sopping wet pathetic that there is a significant chance that his opponent will just start feeling bad about kicking his ass and punch themself in the face instead.
Klavier Gavin: While Klavier is a physically fit young man who is known to keep his cool in extreme situations, he is also a giant law-abiding nerd who has never thrown a punch at anything that isn’t an inanimate wall. It probably wouldn’t be that hard to shove this guy into a locker.
Miles Edgeworth: Look, Miles is an even bigger locker-worthy nerd than Klavier. Anytime anyone, friend or foe, suggests a violent solution he just gets freaked out and begs for them to follow procedures. And no AA Lawyer is more easily thrown off his rhythm and startled than he is. He might have some bulk under the magenta and frills (or at least some impressive leg muscles from climbing 12 flights of stairs every day for like seven years), but he has no idea or will to actually use them in a fight. However, he did try and stare down a man who was aiming a gun at his back that one time and managed to keep his cool throughout all of this.
So like, he’d probably talk a big game and try and intimidate his opponent into not engaging - but if that won’t work he will get his ass thoroughly whooped. And then he’d try to sue them, which is what his threats were about all along.
Apollo Justice: Actually a considerable step up in power-levels from the previous ones. Apollo might be smol, but he is Done With Your Shit and this gives him Strength. Not to mention that one time he successfully tanked an explosion. His famous Chords of Steel can also serve as a tactic to confuse or weaken his enemies.
Kristoph Gavin: Although he is primarily known for his schemes and poisoning, he did kill a man with a single blow to the forehead with a bottle, showing he does have some decent upper-body-strength to use in a fight. And being known as ‘the Coolest Defense in the West’ means he can keep his calm even during hectic combat. But he’s also very pretentious and his constant pontifications might just be the perfect opportunity for someone to smash his face in.
Blaise Debeste: Okay, look, is Blaise a scary tall man who successfully stabbed a woman to death with a candelabra and constantly carries around a deceptively-powerful lighter and has like, implied, motorcycle gang background? Yes. But also I think anyone who encounters Blaise Debeste face-to-face is overcome with such bloodlust rage that it might give them an edge in the battle against him.
Mia Fey: Mia ranks fairly high on the Battle Scale considering the one time she was faced with a violent altercation she just tried to escape and it… didn’t end well.
However, in the two times we get to play as her it’s also clear that she wants to Punch. All of the Things. While Apollo is fueled by being Done With Your Shit, Mia has righteous anger - so I think in a situation where she is actually prepared to do battle she would be able to throw a few decent punches. Also assuming we are talking about Mia while she was still alive, there’s also her Spirit Channeling powers to account for. While we’ve never seen them on screen, Maya told us they are “first rate” and I believe her. Maybe she could channel the spirit of a great warrior to try and get an edge in combat?
Manfred Von Karma: While he also has the same Bloodlust-Inducing-Factor as Blaise, and he does seem less physically fit even though they’re about the same age - I feel like his cane could do more serious damage than Blaise’s lighter. And he has that dangerous fucking Stun Gun on him to easily neutralize opponents. Plus, he did tank that one gunshot he got in the shoulder. Manfred’s opponents might have Rage on their side, but also you cannot underestimate the power of his sheer Spite.
Godot: On one hand, Godot has shown an ability to keep his cool in very dangerous situations. He can smash a coffee cup with his bare hands and barely react, showing that he’s decently strong and resilient to pain. And he is yet another proud (?) member of the exclusive “Lawyers With a Body Count Club”. And while stabbing a waifish, 155cm college student (and part time-poisoner) in the back isn’t exactly the most epic demonstration of battle prowess in the history of Anime Lawyers - he did it (and moved the body and doctored the crime scene and prosecuted in court) while tanking a knife slash in his face, showing his pain-resilience once again, as well as general tenacity that would also be useful in battle. Also, he can summon an infinite amount of hot coffee mugs at will, which must make for a decent improvised long-ranged attack.
On the other hand, his health is also heavily implied to be deteriorating and that he’s basically dying over the course of the final case… possibly due to all of that physical exhaustion. If a fight goes longer than just a single backstab, I feel like these health complications are gonna harm Godot’s performance.
Phoenix Wright: Okay, so this is actually the hardest one to place. I keep flip-flopping on where to put him, especially compared to Mia, and Apollo. Because unlike most other lawyers currently ranked below him, he is a disaster when it comes to being on the offensive; Phoenix Wright is a total wimp who has never returned a punch in his life. However, he is also almost supernaturally durable, unbelievably lucky and deceptively strong. If a solid iron door, a raging freezing river and a speeding car didn’t manage to take him down, what chance does a fellow human, even a more combat-capable one, have???
Calisto Yew: She’s not even a real-lawyer! She’s a Secret Spy who successfully pretended to be a Lawyer for years! She’s got a gun, she’s got a knife, she's got crossbow bolt as hair decorations, she probably has some combat training from her time in Interpol… While she’s clearly more specialized for espionage and infiltration, and not as physically strong as Lang, she’s still got an impressive advantage over most of the regular people who went to Law School. In fact, her skill with barefaced lies and manipulation might also be a skill she could use in a fight to catch her opponent off-guard.
Nahyuta Sahdmadhi: Nahyuta is, in fact, one of the few AA Lawyers to canonically participate in what I would unambiguously call a ‘fight’ (rather than a ‘murder’), when he single-handedly disarmed and apprehended a Defiant Dragon rebel in the sorta-canon ‘Spirit of Justice’ Prologue video.
Like, that rebel guy probably isn't the world's greatest warrior, but the Defiant Dragons have been around for enough time to give their members at least some basic self-defense/combat skills… more so than the average lawyer on this list at minimum. And Nahyuta very easily crab-stomped him. Showing that he has strong nerves, some amazing reflexes and the martial art skills to knock a man unconscious with a single blow. Not to mention the seemingly supernatural skills with his prayer beads, which he already uses as a sort of ‘weapon’ in court. Also that... thing he did to Apollo's bracelet that one time.
Nahyuta might be just straight-up Magic, that's pretty OP.
Franziska von Karma: Look, Franziska might not have official martial-arts, guns, or Literal Magic Powers - but what she does have is sheer determination and force or personality. Franziska von Karma has been intimidating grown men since she was a 149 cm tall 13 years old with a riding crop (I mean, one of those men was Miles, but still…..). She had once whipped Phoenix Wright into unconsciousness in a temper tantrum, and like I already mentioned that taking him down is quite a feat. She is also very resilient - while the shot to her shoulders was designed not to kill her, being up back on her feet doing investigation stuff a day after is still very impressive! Her whip might not be as dangerous as a sword or a gun, but she will not relent until she defeats you.
Simon Blackquill: Let me just give it to you straight, Simon Blackquill is 1.88 meter tall, he owns a katana and a trained attack-hawk (giving him both short range and far range advantage), he can break solid metal chains with his bare hands, he can cut your hair halfway across the room with a feather. Not to mention how he could probably use the whole psychological manipulation in battle to intimidate or goad his enemy. There’s not even a lot of funny or interesting points to bring up, he is literally an action movie character who just happens to also be a lawyer.
Athena Cykes: Athena Cykes is the strongest lawyer. One day, she’ll be stronger than whales. I believe in her.

💭 on my mind: send me Danny thoughts (or thots 👀) and I’ll write a lil scenario about it
Daniel seems like the type of person to pick at his nails when he’s nervous and it makes me want to hold his hands constantly

Habit | D. Ricciardo
a/n: I fully agree!! maybe it’s a habit he picked up over the past few years, or it’s always been a habit ever since he started racing but it grew over time, as the environment becomes more stressful. Either way, I think he definitely picks at his nails without realizing it half the time.
Also HAPPY DANNY DAY!

You notice it every time. Daniel's nervous habit of picking at his nails. It's subtle, but you can tell when he's anxious. Right now, as he sits in his driver's room, race suit unzipped to his hips, his fingers are at it again, meticulously working at the edges of his nails.
Outside, the pre-race atmosphere buzzes, the distant hum of engines and chatter around the garage as the team prepares for the race. Inside his driver's room, it's quiet, except for the tv screen displaying the live footage of the track during the race build up.
You can't help but steal glances at Daniel, watching as his fingers move with restless energy, picking and peeling at the skin around his nails. It's a habit that drives you crazy—not because it annoys you, but it tells you that he's anxious, that he's struggling internally.
The urge to comfort him wells up inside you, and without thinking too much about it, you let your hand drift over to gently cover his.
His fingers freeze beneath your touch. You half expect him to pull away or make a comment, but he doesn't. He glances at you, but you force yourself to look at the screen, not wanting your gesture to look intentional. His hand relaxes under your touch, the tension ebbing away. You lace your fingers with his, squeezing lightly.
The tv drones on in the background, a commentator walking around the paddock and conducting short interviews with a few other drivers. You know that it's almost time for Daniel to get out there too, replacing the comfort in this moment to the fast paced racing world. But you don't release your grip on his hand.
In this moment, it's just you and Daniel. You can feel the pulse in his hand, the warmth of his skin against yours. You sense his gratitude in the way he gently squeezes your hand back. He knew it was a bad habit of his, but he never realized that he was picking at his nails until others pointed it out, but he appreciated your solution.
A knock at the door startles both of you, his trainer peeking in, announcing it's time to head to the garage. Daniel nods, taking a deep breath.
He pauses, looking at you with a mixture of gratitude and determination. "I'll see you after the race," he says, and you nod, giving him a smile to encourage him.
"Fuck 'em all," you remind him, earning a widened smile from him as he repeats the words.
He gives your hand one last squeeze before heading out, following his trainer, knowing you'll be watching from the garage once the race begins.
That wasn't the last time you've held his hand to prevent him from picking at his nails. Over time, Daniel began to appreciate the solution you found. Every time he lost himself in the habit, you placed your hand over his before intertwining your fingers together.
Slowly but surely, his habit started to change. The nail-picking became less frequent, replaced by the comforting routine of holding your hand. One particular tense afternoon, you reached out instinctively, but before you could, his hand found yours. He squeezed it gently, a small smile playing on his lips as he turned to look at you.
Even though no words were spoken, and the gesture was never brought to attention, it became a joint habit of yours.
