Maybe it's a 'study finds water is wet' type of thought, but
considering it's an action movie whose overall plot is "immortal warriors Fuck Shit Up™️", I think it's significant that in The Old Guard the thing that makes Copley pull red strings through his Murder Conspiracy Board and say "[Merrick] doesn't care what [Andy]'s done with [her immortality]" is the people they save, not the ones they kill
Most of the Conspiracy Board is him circling random newspaper headlines and faces on old photographs to (more or less realistically) follow the immortals' treck through the world and big historical events. Which is, in-canon, not much different than putting portraits from different centuries next to a picture of Keanu Reeves and saying "they look the same, clearly Reeves is an immortal!"
But then there are the connections. A little girl holding Joe's hand in WW1 becoming the youngest (and first) woman to be awarded a Nobel Prize for Medicine (suck it, Kozak). Or the grandchild of a family that Andy saved from [something] helping people escape from the Khmer Rouge genocide in Cambodia.
They are warriors. They have fought and been in the midst of countless wars, major or minor, throughout history. They must have killed as many people as they saved... and yet.
It's not them taking out a random warlord or dictator or rabidly hateful politician that has tangible repercussions in history. It's the children and families they get out of war zones, save from accidents, protect from natural disasters. People to whom they give a second chance at life, and grow to change the world (or even just their own world), like a mysterious stranger once changed theirs just by holding out a hand or patching a wound.
I don't know I just think it's particularly neat

the way cole makes varric conflicted is so delicious i think. most of the characters are uncomfortable around him because they're genuinely terrified of demons and the fade and magic in general but varric is a completely different case. the thing is, he doesn't see cole as a demon at all because he doesn't want to.
he acts like he doesn't care about this stuff. that's a little weird kiddo around here and he wants to befriend him. teach him something even. why not. that's a little guy who's a little too good with knives and can't pick up a single social clue at the same time.
but there it is. the "he could have been a person" line if cole is made more spirit. varric is so upset about it because it's not like he saw cole as, well, a spirit who got a little too human. for varric, he was a human first, a weird kid second. the spirit part didn't even come into consideration because. well. it would make him question things. you know where it goes.
every time he starts bitching about anders he brings up justice. justice drove him mad. justice took over him. justice this, justice that. justice is a scapegoat because the thought that someone varric was friends with was actually willing to blow up the chantry and it wasn't just some evil demon's wish is a very unsettling one. varric's friends may be crazy but they're cool and make no irreversible life decisions of that extent, don't they? blondie turned out this way because he let a demon possess him and make him do terrible things. completely out of the blue.
it's either varric's ex-friend has never been driven crazy by some inherently evil entity and there was a whole other person around him all along and that anger he used to mock was coming from the same place as compassion's urge to become a killer or that little weird but kind kid he started to care about has never been and will never be a real kid. he can't have both. a bitter pill to swallow for someone who has never picked a side in his life

Does anyone consider why and when Ares resorts to violence?
You can't say Ares is "bad" for killing people in war. It's fucking war, where people have to kill each other as duties. If human keeps creating wars, Ares will still have a job to do.
Ares fought against Otus and Ephialtes, it's to defend Olympus. These two giants are trying to kidnap Artemis and Hera. Should he stand aside and let his sister and mother get in danger?
Ares killed Halirrhothius and was put on trial for it? The dude just assaulted his daughter, Alcippe! Of course, Ares has to defend/avenge her!
Ares also rushes down the Trojan War to avenge his dead son Ascalaphus, and you call him irrational. And I get that Ares' other son, Kyknos, was a dick and got what he deserved (Heracles killed him), but can you blame the war god for getting furious?
(When Apollo killed a Cyclops as retribution for Asclepius's death - who resurrected the dead and defied the natural order, he's seen as a grieving father. I don't hate Apollo, but the double standard makes me mad.)
People do love reading the myths, seeing Ares getting into fights, and concluding that he's a mindlessly violent god without ever thinking of the context.

adding to my previous post junpei is so so confused he just wanna be friends w the guys who beat up his bullies so bad but turns out every crazy person he meets claim megumi as their boy
Junpei, not normal, trying to be normal for once: fushiguro's kind of cool. do you think he'd be okay with me hanging out with your group when i transfer?
nobara: *snorts loudly*
Junpei: is that a no
Nobara: fushiguro will be fine. you just have to get through the security detail first
junpei: sorry?
Nobara: fushiguro is apparently okkotsu yuuta's boy--
Yuuji, shouting, from the other room: WE HAVE NOT CONCLUSIVELY PROVEN THAT YET
Nobara: get over it itadori
junpei: ... what? sorry, who's okkotsu?
Nobara: we're not really sure yet, we haven't met him
Yuuji, at the exact same time, has been frothing at the mouth since he learned yuuta existed: some impossibly perfect and beautiful bastard who gets everything in life and does not get to take fushiguro from us too
Junpei: what
Nobara, thinks this shit is hilarious: technically fushiguro has been okkotsu's boy since before you even knew him. he'd have first dibs.
Yuuji: kugisaki you cannot just give up on this without a fight. fushiguro is our boy
Nobara, lying: you know i hear fushiguro and okkotsu are on first name basis. so techincally megumi is his boy
Yuuji: kugisaki say psych right now. kugisaki.
Junpei, so confused: sorry, i'm lost. who exactly is okkotsu?
Yuuji, angry, stomping away: he's the perfect man!
Junpei:
Nobara: he's our senpai currently studying abroad in africa. apparently he's kind of a big shot. and if the other second years are telling the truth, then he and fushiguro apparently have a very special relationship
Yuuji: THEY COULD BE LYING
Nobara: some weird shirtless asshole from another school tried messing with fushiguro and the second years told him to find a border and get over it because fushiguro was okkotsu's boy and he would snap him in half if he ever found out about this. and that he would absolutely find out about this because apparently inumaki senpai's a bit of a simp for him. so. honestly could be kind of fun to watch that fight.
Junpei:
Nobara: also apparently fushiguro doesn't know that everyone calls him okkotsu's boy so don't tell him.
Yuuji: NO ONES TELLING HIM BECAUSE THAT PERFECT SON OF A BITCH DOESN'T GET OUR BOY TOO KUGISAKI
Nobara: we are very obviously going to tell him. but consider. we can only tell him ONCE.
