Bagh-e-Jinnah is a historical park in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. It was formerly known as Lawrence Gardens. Today, the largegreen space contains a botanical garden, Masjid Dar-ul-Islam, and Quaid-e-Azam Library situated in a Victorian building.

The park receives a nostalgic mention of the 1970s and 1980s life in Bano Qudsia's remarkable urdu novel Raja Gidh. The Park has a Tomb of Great Saint named Peer Sakhi Abul Faizul Hassan commonly known as Baba Turat Muraad Shah, with a heavy number of visitors.

This two story Venetian Gothic building now houses the Liaquat Municipal Library on the ground floor and an art gallery on the first floor. باغوں کا شہر لاہور

لاہور صوبہ پنجاب کا دارالحکومت اور تاریخی شہر ہے جسے پاکستان کا دِل بھی کہا جاتا ہے ۔ لاہور باغوں کا شہر بھی کہلاتا ہے۔ یہ شہر دریائے راوی کے کنارے آباد ہے۔ اِس شہر کی آبادی تقریباً ایک کروڑ سے زائد ہے ۔ آبادی کے ساتھ ساتھ لاہور کے رقبے میں بھی اضافہ ہوتا جا رہا ہے ۔ لاہوراُن شہروں میں سے ہے جہاں قدیم عمارتوں کے بے شمار نمونے ملتے ہیں ۔ تاریخ میں ظہیر الدین بابر نے 1526ء میں ابراہیم لودھی کو شکست دی جس کے نتیجے میں مغلیہ سلطنت وجود میں آئی ۔ مغلوں نے اپنے دور میں بے شمار عمارتیں اور باغات تعمیر کروائے جو اپنی خوبصورتی میں آج بھی بے مثال ہیں ۔ لیکن لاہور میں ترقیاتی منصوبوں اور عدم توجہ کے باعث بعض باغات کی خوبصورتی متاثر ہونے کا خدشہ ہے۔ لاہور میں واقع چند مشہورباغات میں جناح باغ، شالیمار باغ، حضوری باغ، گلشنِ اقبال پارک، جیلانی پارک، شاہدرہ باغ وغیرہ شامل ہیں ۔ ان میں سے دو کا ذکر ذیل میں کیا گیا ہے۔ 

باغِ جناح 

باغِ جناح کا پرانا نام لارنس گارڈن ہے جو جان لار نس سے منسوب تھا۔ جان لارنس 1864ء سے1869ء تک ہندوستان کے وائسرائے رہے۔ اسے انگلینڈ کے کیو گارڈن کی طرز پر بوٹینیکل گارڈن کے طور پر تعمیر کیا گیا ۔ اس باغ میں دو وسیع کتب خانے بھی موجود ہیں جن میں سے ایک جناح لائبریری اور دوسرا دارالسلام ہے۔ جناح لائبریری کی عمارت 19ویں صدی کے وسط میں تعمیر کی گئی۔ اِس لائبریری میں دو ہال ہیں، جن میں مختلف زبانوں میں سوا لاکھ سے زائد کتابیں موجود ہیں۔ اِس لائبریری میں ایک عمدہ آڈیٹوریم بھی ہے جسے پیشہ ورانہ علم کو بہتر بنانے کے لئے اکثر کانفرنس، نمائش، سیمینار اور ورکشاپ کے لئے استعمال کیا جاتا ہے۔ اِس باغ میں کتب خانے کے علاوہ مسجد، تھیٹر، ریستوران، ٹینس کا میدان، جم خانہ اور کرکٹ کا میدان شامل ہیں۔

کتب خانے کے ساتھ ساتھ مسجد دار الاسلام بھی اِسی باغ میں واقع ہے ، یہاں پر درسِ قرآن کے لئے اور نمازِ جمعہ کے لئے ایک بڑا اجتماع ہوتا ہے ۔ یہ باغ اصل میں 176 ایکڑ کے احاطے پر تھا لیکن اب یہ باغ 141 ایکڑ تک محدود ہو گیا ہے ۔ اس باغ میں 150 مختلف اقسام کے درخت جبکہ 140 اقسام کی مختلف جھاڑیاں، 50 اقسام کی بیلیں، اور 100 اقسام کے سرسبز پودے شامل ہیں ۔ اِس کے علاوہ باغ میں ایک ہزارسے زائد اقسام کے موسمی اور غیر موسمی پھول بھی پائے جاتے ہیں ۔ اِس باغ میں تین عدد نرسریاں اور ایک پہاڑی ہے۔ اِس باغ میں پیدل چلنے کے لئے ٹریک بنائے گئے ہیں جن پر صبح کے وقت بہت سے نوجوان اور بزرگ ورزش کرتے نظر آتے ہیں۔ یہاں پر ایک خواتین کلب بھی تھا جو کہ پردہ کلب کے نام سے جانا جاتا تھا۔ 1885ء میں ایک کرکٹ کا میدان تعمیر کیا گیا جو پہلے سرکاری افسران کے لیے مخصوص تھا۔ اسے جمخانہ کرکٹ گرائونڈ کے نام سے جانا جاتا ہے۔ اس باغ کا ذکر بانو قدسیہ کے مشہور ناول راجہ گدھ میں بھی کیا گیا ہے ۔ اس باغ میں ایک صوفی بزرگ کا مزار بھی موجود ہے ۔ 

شالیمار باغ

شالیمار باغ کا شمار مغلیہ دور میں شمالی لاہور میں تعمیر ہونے والے باغوں میں ہوتا ہے ۔ اِس باغ کی تعمیر 1637ء میں شروع ہوئی او�� اسے 1641ء میں مکمل کیا گیا۔ یہ باغ 16 ہیکٹر رقبے پر پھیلا ہے۔ باغ ایک مستطیل شکل میں ہے اور اس کے اردگرد اینٹوں کی ایک اونچی دیوار ہے۔ شمال سے جنوب کی طرف لمبائی 658 میٹر اور مشرق سے مغرب کی طرف چوڑائی 258 میٹر ہے۔ باغ تین حصوں میں بٹا ہوا ہے اور تینوں کی بلندی ایک دوسرے سے مختلف ہے۔ ایک حصہ دوسرے سے 4.5 میٹر تک بلند ہے۔ ان حصوں کے نام فرح بخش، فیض بخش اور حیات بخش ہیں۔ باغ کو ایک نہر سیراب کرتی ہے۔ اس میں 410 فوارے، 5 آبشاریں اور آرام کے لئے کئی عمارتیں ہیں اور مختلف اقسام کے درخت ہیں۔ 1981 میں شالیمار باغ کو یونیسکو نے عالمی ثقافتی ورثہ قرار دیا۔ 

شالیمار باغ کے مقام کی ملکیت ایک ارائیں میاں خاندان کے پاس تھی۔ مغل شہنشاہ نے اس خاندان کی سلطنت کے لیے خدمات کی بنا پر اس خاندان کو میاں کا لقب دیا تھا ۔ زمین کے بدلے شاہ جہان نے باغ کی نگرانی کا کام اس خاندان کے حوالے کیا۔ شالیمار باغ 350 سے زائد برسوں تک اِس خاندان کی سرپرستی میں رہا۔ 1962 میں شالیمار باغ کو جنرل ایوب خان کے ذریعے قومیا لیا۔ باغ کو جنوب سے شمال تک تین سطحوں میں تقسیم کیا گیا ہے جو شمال سے جنوب کی جانب اُتر رہی ہیں۔ شالیمار باغ میں متعدد فوارے ہیں۔ اِس کی عمارت فنِ تعمیر کا شاندار نمونہ ہے ۔ اسے مختلف مقاصد کے لئے تعمیر کیا گیا تھا ۔ یہ قدیم ورثہ اورنج لائن ٹرین کی وجہ سے متاثر ہونے کا خدشہ ظاہر کیا جا رہا ہے ۔ اس حوالے سے مناسب اقدامات کرنے کی ضرورت ہے۔
