Collection of Free Art Tutorials
I don't usually make text post on this blog, but a nice artist I know was asking for tutorials a while back and I forgot to send some to them while in school. So here's a post on it since it's easiest to grab and go this way. :)
This list focuses on the basics. I'm focusing on the foundations of art, so medium is generally irrelevant and you can use physical or digital with these. You'll have to google more specific tutorials on things like character design and such.
One of the biggest pieces of advice I can give to you is strangely, introduce things to yourself one at a time. In art class, we took whole topics week by week. For high school, we did a few exercises then spent a week drawing/painting and doing your piece(s). For basic art 1 & 2 in college, we did 1-2 exercises and then did 1-2 drawings, followed by HW (which we turned in next week) and sketchbook practice (which she'd check at midpoints). For basic art lessons with a tutor, we did practice then our own art. You can see the pattern here - the point is don't be distressed if you don't get everything at once, or the lesson in 2 weeks, or the lesson in 3 years - we practice and do a lot over time, and you'll pick up on things you need to improve naturally and through help with others. Take time to be proud of your art in mini steps too, even if it's not the best! You tried and attempting to climb an obstacle over and over again before finally leapfrogging it is still progress to it.
Overall tutorials:
DrawABox.com is a site that's dedicated to art exercises and practicing when you can. They talk about the basics of art as well as how practice is important. It can get tough at times and it's ok to stop and do a balance of say those practices and doodles if you choose to try and do all of it's stuff - but you don't have to either. It's just a nice basic education done by some art nerds who like going hard.
Ethering Brothers - these guys are famous for their 40billion tutorials. If you need help on a specific idea, search their gallery and you'll likely find something.
Thundercluck's Art Fundamentals - She did a good huge ass tutorials on how things work, and it's the least overwhelming of the 3 I got in this section, so I suggest it as one of the first to look at for digital stuff.
Art Instructions Blog - Another good & simpler website that goes great into fundamentals. They focus more on traditional art but if you're digital, you can replicate most of the techniques - art fundamentals and subjects cover all mediums. Very important
Drawsh - Particularly notes on Construction: construction is the basics of building an illusion of a 3D image on a page. Figuring out how to build shape gives depth to your work, and learning how to see in 3D lets you be able to draw an item then move it around in your head (sometimes, when you're good enough, don't be afraid to pull out a reference or use live subjects). Construction is how to figure out the foundation of your drawing, and good planning = better picture! This link starts at the back, hit newer post to go forward.
There's a lot on anatomy and other nitty gritty details for when you want to practice those as well.
Griz and Norm's Assorted tips - Long time artist talk about various tips and tricks they use in art and how to avoid certain pitfalls. It's eclectic but great to look through.
James Gurney's Blog - He's got a lot of thoughts, a lot of tips, and a lot of adventures he catalogues. It's the least organized out of these but fortunately he has plenty of tags and most post have something neat going on. He's fantastic!🥰
BEFORE ALL OTHER BASICS….
How to Make Your Art Look Nice: Mindset
There's a lot of artist with different perspectives on how to approach art and your mindset while doing it, but the general consensus is that it's a process and sometimes you have to remind yourself to enjoy art!
Line
How to draw straight lines without a ruler. …but for the love of all that's good do NOT feel bad about using one! This talks about how to hold your pencil and how to do some good freehand stuff, some good practice.
5 grips for holding a Pencil for Drawing - This goes for pencil, pen, tablet, etc.. Get comfortable and figure out what's right for you and your pictures. I'd like to note that paintbrush holding will overlap, but some will differ.
A few line drawing exercises that help with line confidence.
Types of line drawings & what they are.
Contour Line & exercises with Mrs. Cook - Contour lines are one of the first art exercises I do in all the drawing classes I've taken. The good news is that they're surprisingly fun & look neat, even the blind contours!
Good deep thoughts on lines and how to use them.
Line Weight Tutorial
Lineart Weight Tips!
How to show variation in your line art: part 1 & part 2.
Some teacher's Drawing 1 & 2 lessons put online.
Light, Shadow, & Value
An introduction to tonal values.
Why values are important. The main reasons are that they give depth to a piece, and values literally shape our world.
Tonal Values: Everything you need to know
How does light work & the basics on Light
Light & Shadow in Art - much more in depth of the above! Highly recommended if you have time to spare.
Understanding grayscale/monochrome art. Great for shading & planning.
A guide to Cross Hatching (and hatching in general) - As a side note, crosshatching is one of the early things taught as it marries Line + Value into a nice neat package and helps add form with just a pen.
Crosshatching for Comics
Learn more about coloring by working in grayscale
How to Make Your Art Look Nice - Contrast!
Using lighting to make your art look nice.
Some light & shadow classifications.
Edges - notes on how they work in shading.
Color
A side note - color theory doesn't differ much, but color MIXING will change between mediums. If you're doing traditional colored pencil, you're overlapping 2 or more pigments on top of each other. If you're doing traditional paint, you're mixing & creating a solution/emulsion (depends on the pigment and binding) of pigments with the particles reflecting light in different ways. In digital, overlapping colors & blending colors depend on how the program you use calculates it if you're not just putting 2 color side by side. This just means you have to adjust your mixing when you switch between them. :)
Slawek Fedorczuk's Light & Color Tips - also shows how to guide through a scene.
The Color Tutorial Part 1 & 2 by Sashas - A personal favorite.
Color Studies 1-6 by Sheri Doty Amazingly nice breakdown on how color works in simple terms.
Sarah Culture's Tips on Color
The value of underpainting
A few notes on reflective light.
Experimental color techniques with Alai Ganuza: first post, second, & third.
Color zones of the face charts
Composition
Good Tips on Composition
Here's an example of how you can search the Etherington Brothers' stuff and get like 10 tutorials and tips on one subject. Composition & Cover Design, Shadow Composition, Two Line Composition - plus more.
How to make your art look nice: Thumbnailing!
And don't be afraid to make silly thumbnails or sketches.
Composition Examples - charts like these are great when you can't think of something yourself. There's no shame in using them.
Flow and Rhythm
Formulas for landscape composition.
Perspective
Perspective Drawing Tutorial by Julie Duell
Linear & Atmospheric Perspective Guide
One Point Perspective City Tut by Swingerzetta
Niso Explains Perspective - these are great for drawing figures in perspective!
Putting characters into scenes and drawing backgrounds
Backgrounds that make your character stand out!
Using background detail to guide the eye.
Odds and Ends
I shit you not, probably 1/3rd of my color, value, & structure knowledge comes from pixel art since I've done so much of it and it is all about challenging yourself to do the most you can with limitations. Check out lospec's tutorial database for fun and see how it compares to art techniques you're doing - even if you never try a medium, it's always interesting to see how it works. :D
How to Make Your Art Look Nice: Reference Images & Style, Pushing Proportions, and developing style.
Foervraengd talks about how he expanded his comfort zone with concept art & landscape drawing.
Luna Art talks about what they're thinking when doing concept art.
Repeating visual motifs in character design looks cool.
Eric's Thoughts on Drawing Backgrounds and Props.
Show vs. Tell: Why Visual is Not Optional in comics.
The Lost Vocabulary of Visual Story Telling Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, & Day 4.
Traditional Animation's 2 Digital Library books, The Know-How of Cartooning by Ken Hultgren & Advanced Animation by Preston Blair are two books from the golden age of animation they have up on their site for free viewing!
Animation resources dot org has a lot of cool stuff. Here's Nat Falk's How to Make Animated Cartoons (part 1). Their pages on Instruction & Theory are a good start.
Books
Good news: the internet archive has a TON of resources. Make sure to check around and toggle filters, it's a bit weird with organization. For example, a book can be under art or drawing - techniques, depending on who catalogues it.
Andrew Loomis is someone artist tend to die-hard reccomend. His work is collected here & here on the internet archive (one is Andrew Loomis, the other is Loomis, Andrew - thanks). I own Figure Drawing for All It's Worth and I recommend checking all of his stuff out, especially if you're having trouble with bodies and hands.
The Animator's Survival Guide by Richard Williams is mandatory in animation classes for good reason - it's fantastic!
Perspective for Comic Book Artist by David Chelsea is great for any type of artist. So is Extreme Perspective & Perspective in Action.
Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics, Reinventing Comics, & Making Comics. The first one is on the internet archive, the second two are likely avaliable at your library or at a bookstore as they're pretty popular.
Speaking of comics, Drawing Comics the Marvel Way has been a favorite of comic artist for years no matter what comic book companies and artist you like, it's a good introduction.
Anything by or endorsed by James Gurney, Color and Light: A Guide for the Realistic Painter is one of my favorites (this is his official page but you can get them elsewhere for cheaper too).
Art resource blogs with good tagging systems: @artist-refs , @help-me-draw , @helpfulharrie , @art-res , @drawingden , & @how-to-art
Lastly, I suggest if you find something you like online for free, SAVE IT! Whether it is through the Wayback Machine, screenshotting a whole webpage, reblogging/retweeting something, or putting it on pinterest, digital media is fickle and tends to go up in smoke when you least expect it. I have a partially organized Pinterest board that helped me find most of the stuff I wanted to keep. Figure out what works for you and save what you can.

I feel as though if I never make any music ever I am going to Die but I have zero training or education in anything, no instruments, no space to store, and a dingy small laptop only 10 sessions away from exploding. how do I fix my problem in one week and a budget of 0 dollars.
if you can't buy anything physical and (presumably) can't run most DAWs (digital audio workstation), use jummbox for beep-boop sounds and musescore for writing sheet music. play around with both and follow the tutorials to get your bearings
I'd recommend picking up Reaper as a DAW instead of those first two options, but that might be overwhelming when you're just starting out. consider learning it once you feel more comfortable with navigating music-making
if you've got zero experience, watch 12tone's building blocks playlist to get your fundamentals down. I don't recommend trying to learn music off of his other videos (they're not that great for it imo) but his format is pretty alright for the absolute basics
there are plenty of other videos on composition (this is the word you want to look for) you can find on youtube, along with piano lessons (piano is one of the most straightforward translations of western music theory to instrument form, so learning to write for piano will help you in nearly every case)
don't get overwhelmed. don't try to learn everything at once. if you have questions, don't be afraid to look them up or ask someone for advice
and don't forget: there's no such thing as a true "independent" musician. music is a collaborative project stretching back thousands of years, and through sharing it with each other, we connect to everyone else who helped get us to this point

Hi, Tumblr. It's Oni.
TW: Mild Violence, for the following content showcases physical combat. All movements shown should not be imitated.
I haven't thought of putting actual effort into a real blog compared to the short ones sourced within the site (reposts and screen recording), nor do I have any intention to frequently do such content, so think of this as some sort of biographical experiment. I hope you enjoy the rambling.
So what happened earlier was that I visited the town center mall, and I grabbed my hands on one of the arcade cabinets to play...
Tumblr media
Yeah. I played Street Fighter VI.
This isn't my first time though. I played it once a few weeks ago, and it's EXCITING. It felt like a dream come true. It's really surprising how experiencing the game by hand is different from passively appreciating it. It made me very happy cuz' it's an opportunity worth taking to play this game.
The first gameplay I've made is just pure improv - mashing buttons without understanding the fundamentals; Now, revisiting the game, I got the opportunity to practice in Tutorial Mode. I learned about the basic attacks and new gameplay mechanics, which took a little while but got a slight hang of it.
Short comment: Classic controls are hard for a fighting game noobs like me. Glad I selected the tutorial set for the Modern control scheme. Easier to learn and grasp with the controls.
Once I'm done understanding how to practically use and memorize the basics, I've started learning how to play my favorite character. Juri Han.
Tumblr media
Short disclaimer: this post is not meant for anybody who likes grippers (ew). Sorry, not having that. Careful, kids.
Playing as Juri is quite different from playing as Luke (the tutorial character), cuz she has a tricky moveset that can seize opening vulnerabilities within close attack range and her moveset is unpredictable (at least from what I can precisely remember during the tutorial). I looked up at her character guide in-game to practice basic attacks and fundamental combos. The attack animations are satisfying to watch because of how fluid and dynamic her moves are, and how there's this splash-like woosh effect that empasizes strong movement. It took me a while to let the unique basic attacks sink in my head until I can independently make up some decent combos.
I have a few clips of live gameplay since I wasn't initially going to stay at the mall for very long, so here's a short clip of me basically experimenting with Juri's moves in practice mode (along with the random button-mashing).
I could also show more, but I just found out that I can only share 1 video per post. Okay, Tumblr.
That's basically about it lol. It overall cheered me up when I felt down earlier this morning due to tons of schoolwork. Hopefully I'll come back to visit and play again next time.
Hm. Maybe I'll actually get the game one day. Heh.
Okay. Bye now.
Tumblr media
Edit: I can't play A.K.I waaaaaahhh 😭

Game Design Is Interface Design (Mostly)
Hey, what’s interface design? it’s the discipline of designing interfaces. Shocking. Marvelous. Hilarious. I should be in the pictures. But let’s keep going since that doesn’t clean everything up.
Interface design refers to the discipline not of designing an object to achieve an end but to design it so that the surface people interact with (the interface) is something that means they can make it achieve that end. It’s something covered extensively in thousands of online tutorials but also in that pesky Donald Norman’s The Design Of Everyday Things, a book which I fear I will be a chore about to people who listen.
Consider, if you will, a teakettle. This is an object that most Americans aren’t directly acquainted with but the basic device is a pot, with a handle, and a lid, that you can fill with water, plug into a mains power source, then turn on. It will boil the water, let you know when it’s boiled, and stop boiling the water once it’s got there. This device’s design can incorporate all sorts of clever systems; before mains power was used, it was a common design feature that the boiling steam escaping the pot would go through a whistled seam on the kettle, meaning the whole thing made a noise when it was boiling that would persist until you stopped it, which is pretty neat. Similarly, while once they were just metal things you put on a gas or electric stove, now they have dedicated docks and power to those docks, which includes things like fuses and transformers and anti-fire measures and internal cable structures so there’s no wrong way to plug them in and none of that
is interface design.
The majority of the kettle is not adesign that you are meant to interface with. In a big top down broad sense, you interact with a kettle because you need a kettle but the kettle itself is not the interface. You only engage with the kettle on its expected interface, which is why it has an insulated handle designed to be easily picked up, and why the button for turning on the element isn’t physically inside the kettle, near where that element goes. Instead the design of a kettle’s interface – the bits you’re meant to deal with – is meant to make sure that you touch as little of the bits that make your hot water as possible. The interface directs your intention towards action without impeding it, and without obscuring what is happening. A gauge for the water level is an entire system meant to keep you from having to open the kettle and look at the (maybe hot) water, but it’s also trying to give you entirely correct information about what is or isn’t inside the kettle. A gauge that gives you incorrect information is, instead of encouraging you to avoid a part of the kettle you shouldn’t mess with (the insides), is encouraging you to engage with it.
In this, the design of the interface of the kettle wants you to engage with it, in the way it should be operated, but also very much not engage with bits of it. This is fundamentally part of interface design and the design of everyday things: The interface is something to engage with so that you do not have to engage with everything else. The problem comes when the design is bad, the interface is bad, the door is labelled wrong or the handle of it teaches you to use it incorrectly.
And that’s where we get to games, because games are pretty much entirely an interface.
This isn’t talking about videogames, of course; a videogame has a display and buttons you can push as your interface, but that interface is layered over a number of systems that are designed to absolutely not inform you what they’re doing. You don’t need to know when your processor is handling memory dumps or garbage collection and indeed, when the computer behaviour starts to be present in the place of the player behaviour, you sort of consider that a failure state of the game’s making. No, here, we’re talking not about glitched out computer systems, but rather the games managed and maintained in a tabletop or board game space.
These analogue games are almost entirely an interface. There’s a process, a system, but the games aren’t feeding that information into a black box that’s designed to process them and keep the non-interface parts of the game away from the players. There’s some things that can be outside of a player’s reach — the information on a face-down card is hard to access, an object can live within a dice tower until it’s forced out, a number can be in potentia until a dice generates it — but the game, usually, is not making systems and objects perform actions where the player cannot see them.
Now part of this is simplicity! It’s not common for board games to have complicated pieces that can do that kind of invisible system management. App-driven games, obviously, immediately change that, where the entire operation of a phone or tablet becomes part of the game’s systems, and those want to be kept well away from the player. But that’s including a complex entity, and you’re getting something for that. Without that kind of inclusion, board games, typically, operate by a system maintained in the mind of the players, and the components, the interface, are there for managing that in their memory. Moving cards and tokens around is the interface of the game, and that interface interacts with a system inside the player’s heads.
Okay so what does that mean?
First it means that any principle of interface design can probably be extrapolated out to game design.
What is this doing, why is it doing it?
Is it clear how these pieces interact?
If a person does something here, does that create meaningful feedback?
What information do we want the meaningful feedback to have?
How can we design this interface to impede behaviour we don’t want?
And most importantly:
How can we make sure this game doesn’t look like a fucking iPhone?
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

Is blogging still relevant in the age of TikToks and Instagram?
According to Young (2006), a blog, otherwise known as a weblog, is basically an online journal or diary. It is anything you want it to be; you may use it to share your thoughts, get input from others, or even just rant (Young 2006). It’s safe to say that blogging isn’t exactly something new and has been around for some time now (Chin 2023).
Tumblr media
That begs the question: what do we make of blogging in this day and age? Let's all take a moment to ponder upon it: in the past few years, the digital world has undergone a significant transformation. The emergence (and subsequent explosive growth) of social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram has given rise to new forms of content, entertainment, and the like. In addition, the ways in which content is created, distributed, and consumed these days has also changed. All of this might lead you to question whether blogging is becoming a thing of the past. But is blogging really fading into obscurity? Or is it all just a misconception of sorts?
Tumblr media
In my opinion, blogging still has a place in our digital world nowadays. This is due to certain advantages it has over other social media sites like TikTok and Instagram. Personally speaking, one such edge that blogging possesses is the length of its content. Generally speaking, TikTok and Instagram postings are subject to certain constraints such as specific media formats, shorter word limit(s), and so on. On the other hand, blogging offers more freedom and allows for a more in-depth exploration of various subjects and/or topics, whether you're sharing a personal story, giving a detailed tutorial, or delving into a complex matter. Such a feature is especially useful when you want to engage and connect with your audience with more meaningful and deeper content. This is evident on blogging sites such as Tumblr, where the platform is set up to be different from other platforms, in the sense that it is a place of emotional authenticity (Hart 2015).
Tumblr media
Besides that, blogging has the potential for money-making opportunities. According to an essay by Gustafsson & Muhammad (2017), bloggers participate in a wide range of economic activities by monetising their blogs using a variety of business models and based on the interaction of virtual and physical networks. In other words, you can make money by blogging. Gustafsson & Muhammad (2017) go on to say how there are more and more people who are turning to blogging as a means of income. Blogging initially started off as an avenue for people to express themselves individually, but they may now generate revenue that is often on par with (or even exceed) their salaries from conventional jobs (Gustafsson & Muhammad 2017).
Tumblr media
Blogging’s potential doesn’t just stop there. Studies have shown that increased blog usage results in improved levels of perceived learning by students studying in higher education institutions in regard to reading, writing, and commenting in, which goes to show that blogging should be utilised as a learning and teaching tool in educational institutions. (Garcia et al. 2019). This is further supplemented by the findings from a study by Ifinedo (2017), where it was found that the perceived enjoyment, compatibility, usage, user friendliness, etc. of blogs have a favourable impact on students' happiness levels with educational blogging.
Tumblr media
To sum up everything, I wouldn't say that blogging has become irrelevant, even with the rise and dominance of social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram; rather, it should be viewed as a medium which can be used to complement the aforementioned social media sites. In his book on blogging, Rettberg (2014) points out that numerous social media practises that we know of today are fundamentally forms of blogging, in the sense that they revolve around the same concept(s). Chin (2023) reiterates this point by stating that blogs, much like their social media counterparts, represent an online venue where people can gather to share their respective views and beliefs. The way I see it, blogging essentially functions as an alternative to TikTok and/or Instagram (of course, this is subjective and depends on the individual). With that being said, we should learn to appreciate the existence of blogs/blogging and not belittle their position.

A Beginner’s Journey: Learning Animation with Zero Background
Tumblr media
Breaking into the world of animation with absolutely no prior experience may seem daunting—but it’s entirely possible, and more achievable today than ever before. Whether you're drawn to the magic of 2D storytelling or fascinated by hyper-realistic 3D worlds, starting from scratch doesn’t mean you’re at a disadvantage. In fact, the animation industry now thrives on fresh perspectives, and many studios actively welcome talent from non-traditional backgrounds.
If you’ve ever wondered where to begin your animation journey, this guide breaks down every step to get you started—without overwhelming jargon or unnecessary pressure.
Why Now Is the Best Time to Begin
Animation is no longer limited to major film studios or big-budget productions. Thanks to affordable tools and a surge in demand across industries—advertising, social media, education, gaming, and even virtual reality—animation has become more accessible and versatile than ever.
In 2025, the animation industry continues to boom globally, with record-breaking revenues reported in streaming-based animation content. Platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Crunchyroll are consistently investing in original animated shows and films. The recent success of titles like Arcane, Nimona, and Blue Eye Samurai has shown that audiences are craving animated content with rich visuals and deeper narratives.
This surge has led to more online resources, community-led initiatives, and educational platforms focused on beginners, creating an ideal environment for aspiring animators.
Step 1: Understand What Animation Actually Involves
Animation is far more than drawing. It combines storytelling, timing, physics, character development, sound design, and even a bit of acting. There are various styles and disciplines under the umbrella of animation:
2D Animation (hand-drawn or digital)
3D Animation (used in movies, games, VR)
Stop Motion
Motion Graphics
Visual Effects (VFX)
It’s important to understand these areas to figure out what excites you most. Don’t worry about mastering everything at once—most animators specialize over time.
Step 2: Begin with Free or Affordable Tools
Starting with free software can help you dip your toes in the water without a big financial commitment. Here are some excellent tools for beginners:
Krita or Pencil2D for 2D animation
Blender for 3D animation (open-source and industry-relevant)
Synfig Studio for vector-based 2D animation
DaVinci Resolve (free version) for editing and basic VFX
These tools are beginner-friendly and come with vast online communities where learners share tutorials and feedback.
Step 3: Learn the Fundamentals First
Before diving into software mastery, it’s critical to build a foundation in animation principles. The 12 principles of animation—introduced by Disney legends Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston—remain the gold standard. These include squash and stretch, anticipation, timing, and more.
There are countless YouTube channels, MOOCs, and blogs dedicated to teaching these fundamentals, such as:
Alan Becker Tutorials
Bloop Animation
Animation Mentor Blog
Additionally, books like The Animator’s Survival Kit by Richard Williams can become your personal animation bible.
Step 4: Practice Through Mini Projects
Animation can be overwhelming when you try to create full scenes right away. Instead, focus on tiny exercises: bouncing balls, walk cycles, facial expressions, or lip-sync practice. These bite-sized projects build your muscle memory and help you apply theoretical concepts practically.
Even looping GIFs or social media reels are great formats to begin experimenting with. Remember, every animator starts with imperfect lines and awkward timing—it’s the persistence that transforms you.
Step 5: Join Animation Communities and Forums
Learning in isolation can be challenging. Join beginner-friendly animation communities where you can get feedback, participate in contests, and stay motivated. Platforms like:
r/animation on Reddit
The Animation Guild (TAG)
ArtStation & Behance
Discord channels for Blender, Krita, and VFX artists
You’ll also find many professionals and instructors giving live critiques, free sessions, and project walk-throughs.
Step 6: Consider Structured Learning for Deeper Growth
Once you’ve dipped your feet and know this path excites you, consider enrolling in a structured course. These programs offer mentorship, project reviews, and a roadmap—something self-learning can’t always provide.
For example, an 3D animation course bengaluru offers a guided curriculum that combines hands-on software training with deep dives into narrative design, character building, and even collaborative team projects. What’s exciting is that some of these programs now include real-world studio briefs, helping learners experience professional animation scenarios early on.
In growing creative hubs, institutes are becoming more holistic in approach—blending creativity with storytelling, software with emotional intelligence. This structured training, paired with a city’s expanding animation ecosystem, allows learners to build both skills and networks.
Step 7: Keep a Portfolio, Not Just Practice
As you gain confidence, start compiling your work into a digital portfolio. This doesn’t need to be elaborate—a simple showreel or a Behance page is enough. Make sure to include:
Short clips or looping animations
Before/after shots to show progress
Rough sketches or process breakdowns
A brief description for context
Employers and collaborators don’t look for perfection—they look for storytelling, style, and potential.
Step 8: Stay Updated With Industry Trends
Animation is an ever-evolving industry. Keeping up with trends ensures your skills stay relevant. Some current trends you should watch:
Real-time animation with Unreal Engine
AI-assisted animation tools like Cascadeur and RunwayML
Stylized 3D with 2D aesthetics (e.g., Spider-Verse influence)
Hybrid roles—animators now often know sound design, editing, or VFX basics
Follow events like Annecy International Animation Festival, Lightbox Expo, and SIGGRAPH to stay informed.
In 2025, several studios in India and abroad are embracing AI-enhanced workflows, but the human touch—storytelling, character nuance, emotion—is still the irreplaceable core. That’s where beginners can truly shine.
Step 9: Don’t Fear Mistakes—They’re Your Learning Tools
Animation is a long game. You’ll make clunky animations. You’ll get feedback that stings. But each mistake is a blueprint for improvement.
Many professional animators started in their 20s, 30s, even 40s. What got them ahead wasn’t talent—it was resilience and a genuine love for the medium. So don’t obsess over getting it “right” at the beginning. Focus on growing.
Conclusion: Your Zero-to-One Journey Begins Now
Starting animation with zero experience is not only doable—it’s incredibly rewarding. With persistence, smart resources, and a commitment to storytelling, you can turn blank frames into meaningful motion.
Cities like Bengaluru are seeing a rapid rise in animation and VFX studios catering to OTT, gaming, and advertising industries. Many educational hubs are adapting to this shift, providing hands-on learning in visual storytelling, motion graphics, and effects. If you're interested in mastering these advanced techniques, enrolling in a 2D animation course bengaluru could help you bridge the gap between passion and profession—especially in a city quickly becoming a hotspot for creative tech.
Remember, every great animator once knew nothing. Your journey starts with one frame—and that’s all it takes to begin.

Cloud computing has revolutionized the way businesses are run, facilitating flexibility, scalability, and innovation like never before. One of the leading cloud providers, Microsoft Azure, is a robust platform with an unparalleled set of services that cover from virtual machines and AI to database management and cybersecurity. Be it a developer, IT expert, or an interested individual curious about the cloud, getting a hold of Azure fundamentals can be your gateway into an exciting and future-proof arena. In this beginner's tutorial, we'll learn what Azure is, its fundamental concepts, and the most important services you should know to begin your cloud journey. What is Microsoft Azure? Microsoft Azure is a cloud computing service and platform that has been developed by Microsoft. It delivers many cloud-based services such as computing, analytics, storage, networking, and other services. These services are made available by selecting and using those for the purpose of building new applications as well as running already existing applications. Launched in 2010, Azure has developed at a lightning pace and now caters to hybrid cloud environments, artificial intelligence, and DevOps, becoming the go-to choice for both enterprises and startups.
Why Learn Azure? • Market Demand: Azure skills are in demand because enterprises use it heavily. • Career Growth: Azure knowledge and certifications can be a stepping stone to becoming a cloud engineer, solutions architect, or DevOps engineer. • Scalability & Flexibility: Solutions from Azure can be offered to businesses of all types, ranging from startups to Fortune 500. • Integration with Microsoft Tools: Smooth integration with offerings such as Office 365, Active Directory, and Windows Server. Fundamental Concepts of Microsoft Azure Prior to services, it would be recommended to familiarize oneself with certain critical concepts which constitute the crux of Azure.
1. Azure Regions and Availability Zones Azure can be had in every geographic area globally, regions being divided within them. Within regions, redundancy and resiliency can be had through availability zones—separate physical data centers within a region. 2. 3. Focus on High-Yield TopicsSome topics are more likely to appear on the NCLEX and other nursing exams than others. Focus on high-yield subjects, such as pharmacology, cardiac care, and nursing fundamentals.
✔ Pharmacology, cardiac nursing, and mental health are some of the most important topics. ✔ Prioritize topics where you feel less confident. ✔ Don't forget to review the basics, as foundational knowledge is essential.
4. Take Regular Breaks and Stay HealthyStudying for long hours can lead to fatigue and burnout. Taking regular breaks and maintaining a healthy lifestyle will improve focus and retention.
✔ Use the Pomodoro technique: study for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break. ✔ Eat nutritious meals and drink plenty of water to keep your brain sharp. ✔ Make time for physical activity and ensure you get enough rest to avoid burnout.
5. Utilize Online Study ResourcesOnline platforms like Priya Basil Academy offer study guides, video tutorials, and practice questions to help you prepare effectively. These resources provide expert guidance and valuable insights into the exam format.
✔ Take advantage of online practice tests that mimic the real exam experience. ✔ Watch video lessons for a deeper understanding of complex topics. ✔ Join online study groups to engage with peers and exchange study tips.
6. Review Key Nursing Theories and ModelsNursing theories and models provide a framework for patient care and guide clinical decision-making. Understanding these theories is essential, as they are often referenced in NCLEX questions.
✔ Review key nursing theories such as Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and the Nursing Process. ✔ Practice applying these theories to clinical scenarios. ✔ Use them to help you prioritize patient care in complex situations.
7. Don’t Cram ! Start EarlyLast-minute cramming is not an effective study method, especially for comprehensive exams like the NCLEX, REx-PN, and CPNRE. Start studying as early as possible to ensure you have ample time to review all material thoroughly.
✔ Begin your studies several months before your exam date. ✔ Spread out your study sessions to retain information better. ✔ Use spaced repetition techniques to review material consistently over time.

December Journal Entry
December was a month of digital LEGO building, dedicated to mastering Studio, the BrickLink software, to build my portfolio and demonstrate a proficiency in digital LEGO building, a crucial aspect for the TT Games Model Artist/Designer roles I was aiming to apply for.
The Studio interface initially felt overwhelming. Navigating the vast parts palette and manipulating the virtual bricks was a very surreal experience compared to building with real LEGO to begin with. The digital environment presented a unique set of challenges. However, I persevered, diving into online tutorials and focusing on fundamental techniques. I practiced connecting bricks, creating sub-assemblies, and familiarising myself with the various manipulation tools. Slowly, the complexities of the software began to make sense, and I started to feel more comfortable navigating the digital LEGO software.
I decided to recreate some of my favourite physical builds digitally. This helped me understand how real-world techniques translated into the virtual environment. The challenge lay in accurately replicating the intricate connections and ensuring stability within Studio's physics engine when following online instructions for the LEGO builds. I spent hours tweaking angles, adjusting positions, and experimenting with different part combinations.
Beyond basic building, I used Photoshop and Studio's Part Designer to create custom decals, adding unique details to my models and showcasing my understanding of the customization workflow. This, along with experimenting with complex geometries and intricate detailing, pushed the boundaries of my Studio creations. I also explored the rendering capabilities to create visually appealing images of my digital creations.
By the end of the month going into January, I had a portfolio showcasing a range of skills: accurate replications with creative decal designs, and a stronger understanding of Studio’s mechanics. I’m confident that my portfolio now demonstrates some digital LEGO building proficiency, strengthening my applications and showcasing the technical skills and "can-do" attitude that complement my passion for LEGO, ready to impress TT Games.

Recreational Golfing: A Blend of Fun, Fitness, and Fresh Air
Tumblr media
Golf is a sport that combines mental and physical exercise, making it an enjoyable way to spend time outdoors. Its beauty lies in its versatility—whether you’re a seasoned athlete or completely new to sports, golf can be adapted to suit any skill level. This guide will help you understand the fundamentals of recreational golfing, including the rules, equipment, and the overall experience of being on the course.
Understanding the Game: Rules and Formats Golf may seem complex at first, but its rules are straightforward once you get the hang of them. Uniquely, the goal in golf is to achieve the lowest score possible—contrary to most sports. Each hole on a course has a designated "par," which is the expected number of strokes it should take a skilled player to complete it. Your objective is simple: complete each hole in as few strokes as possible.
There are different formats of play. The most common is stroke play, where every shot counts toward your final score. However, other formats, like match play—where you win or lose based on individual holes—or the Stableford system—where points are awarded based on performance against par—can add variety to your game depending on the group or course.
Essential Equipment for Beginners One of the most important aspects of getting started in golf is choosing the right equipment. While it may be tempting to buy a full set of clubs, beginners often benefit more from a simplified half set, which typically includes essential clubs: a driver, a few irons, a wedge, and a putter. This not only makes it easier to learn but also reduces the hassle of managing too much gear on the course.
Golf equipment can be tailored to fit various budgets. Many new players start with used clubs or borrow from friends or family until they feel more committed. As you progress, you can invest in higher-quality gear that matches your personal playing style.
Mastering the Course: Strategy and Course Management Golf courses are more than just open fields—they're strategic challenges that test multiple aspects of your game. Course layout, hazards, and topography all play a role in how you approach each hole. Learning how to navigate these obstacles through proper course management is key to improving your overall experience. Understanding when to take risks and when to play conservatively can make a significant difference in your performance.
Take time to learn how to "read" the course. Each shot is not just about hitting the ball well; it's about knowing where you want the ball to go and how to get it there efficiently.
Developing Your Swing: The Heart of the Game Once you’ve grasped the basics, the next step is refining your swing. A good swing is rooted in three key elements: a solid stance, proper alignment, and consistent swing speed. While online tutorials and videos are helpful, nothing beats the feedback from an experienced instructor. Taking a few lessons early on can fast-track your improvement and prevent you from developing bad habits.
Building a consistent swing takes time, but it’s one of the most rewarding aspects of the game. With practice, you’ll find yourself hitting straighter, longer shots and lowering your scores.
Golf Etiquette: More Than Just Rules One of the distinguishing features of golf is its emphasis on etiquette. Knowing and following proper golf manners will not only improve your experience but also make you a more pleasant playing partner. Since golf is as much a social activity as it is a physical one, these unwritten rules matter.
Simple gestures like maintaining a reasonable pace of play, being mindful of other players' turns, and taking care of the course—whether by raking bunkers or fixing divots—go a long way. Safety is also a critical aspect of etiquette. For instance, always yell “fore!” if your shot is veering toward another group of players.
A Relaxing, Social, and Lifelong Hobby One of the joys of recreational golf is the balance it offers between leisure and sport. While competitive golf focuses on lowering scores and winning, recreational golf is all about personal enjoyment, relaxation, and spending quality time with friends or family. The pace is slower, the atmosphere more laid-back, and the emphasis is on having fun, not on outperforming others.
Golf also offers a lifetime of enjoyment. It’s a sport that suits all ages, and most courses accommodate various skill levels by offering multiple tee boxes to suit different abilities. Whether you have a whole afternoon or just an hour or two, golf can easily fit into your schedule, making it the perfect way to unwind after a busy day or week.
A Journey of Growth and Enjoyment At its core, recreational golfing provides a unique mix of relaxation, challenge, and personal growth. Whether you’re strolling through a beautiful course, working on improving your swing, or simply enjoying time with friends, golf has a way of offering something for everyone.
The game is not just about getting a low score; it’s about finding a rhythm, appreciating your surroundings, and enjoying the camaraderie that the sport fosters. Whether you're aiming to perfect your technique or just looking for a way to spend a peaceful weekend outdoors, golf offers a path that is as rewarding as it is fun.
