Game Assets Notes
These are plants shown in Dragon Age but aren't named in universe, just in their model files or through identification of the textures. Since most filler plant textures are just that of real world plants.
**NOTE:** When I mention they are not the known name of any plant, this comes with the caveat of being popular common names. Common names are highly variable and inconsistent. They depend on regional knowledge and association. Some travel farther than others. Common names are also not reliable identifiers.
Acacia: Black Wood ~ Note: Black Wood is a type of acacia. Both acacia and black wood are named assets.
Artichoke ~ Note: Identification comes from asset name, the artichoke flower is used as ornamentation of a box.
Banyan Tree
Boxwood ~ A type of shrub, identification comes from asset name.
Bradford Pear ~ Their fruits are edible, however their flowers are known to emit a smell akin to rotting meat. Identification comes from asset name.
Calla Lily ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters.
Cattail ~ Note: Seen through out DAO and DAI, identification comes from asset name.
Coleus ~ Note: Not named but identified by the texture used. It is seen in Val Royeaux planters and in the Frostback Basin.
Crape Myrtle
Cypress: Italian Cypress, Topiary Cypress ~ Note: In terms of the Italian Cypress, in world it wouldl likely be called the "Antivan Cypress" given that Antiva is pulling from Italian culture, food, environments, and other inspirational elements. Cypress is a plant that is named in canon.
Daikon Radish ~ Note: Found on Dennet's farm, identification comes from asset name.
Dogwood
Elephant Ear ~ Note: Foliage found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from asset name.
Fade Berry
Fern: Red Fern, Sword Fern ~ Note: The red fern isn't a real plant and therefore can be considered unique to Thedas. In contrast the sword fern is a real plant. Identification comes from the asset name for both of these ferns.
Forest Clover
Foxleaf ~ Note: This is another plant that is not real, no plant has this common name as far as I could find.
Gasbloom ~ Note: Seen in the Arbor Wilds, the Frostback Basin some elven ruins, and the elven ruins of multiplayer levels. Their identification comes from the asset name. There are two versions of the texture the "fixed" version is used in JoH dlc and thus explains the difference in appearance. This is not the name of a known mushroom.
Hero Tree
Palm: Curly Palm, Fan Palm ~ Note: Both palms are seen in the Frostback Basin, both are identified by their named assets.
Pear Cactus ~ Note: Found in the Frostback Basin, identification comes from the asset name.
Pine: Chir Pine
Ponga Tree ~ Note: Also known as the 'Tree Fern'. This is the tree you see in Val Royeaux garden as coming from Par Vollen, and throughout the Arbor Wilds.
Redwood ~ Note: Identified by the name of the file asset. Found in the Winter Palace, Exalted Plains, and on multiplayer maps.
Snapdragon
Trex
Waterweed ~ Note: In real life this is an entire genus not one particular plant. Though the six plants in this genus do share the common name of waterweed.
White Birch
Witchhazel
Additional Notes and Trivia
Ironwood - Unclear if this is an alternative name, the actual name of the plant, or both.
Morel - This mushroom is inferred due to the existence of Blighted Morel. However it is not explicitly specified there is a non-blighted morel.
Sponge Root - Though canonical as it is mentioned and shown in World of Thedas vol. 2 on pg. 138 with a collection of deep mushroom and surface mushroom illustrations. This mushroom was cut twice from Inquisition. It was cut from the base game as a craftable, it had a much different appearance from its final design, and then it was cut again from Trespasser. It does however still make an appearance in Inquisition as the inventory icon for Crystal Grace.
Unnamed Glowing Mushroom Is mentioned in multiplayer when there are two Lukas playing.
Unnamed Mushroom These brown mushrooms are seen in the Fallow Mire and the Frostback Basin. They are shown in two different sizes ranging from shorter than a dwarf to taller than one.
There is one unlisted mushroom, its assets is named "red mushroom" and thus is identified by textures. These is not a canon name but is included for completeness. Amanita Muscaria: More commonly know as fly agaric or fly amanita, the red top with white spots is an iconic in its imagery. You will find large swaths of these mushrooms in the Frostback Basin. Their assets is named "Red Mushroom".
Winterberry is a real plant. However, from what we see in DA2, it does not the same as the plant we have in the real world, just a shared common name.
Wormroot is another real plant name. However, due to the description in The Calling, it does not seem to be the same plant. In The Calling it is used to treat the venom of a giant spider. The real world plant is used to treat parasites in the gut and does not seem to hold any shared uses in folk lore, folk medicine, or western medicine practices.

HAPPIESTPLACEHQ TASK 11 - INTRO & CONNECTIONS
olivia flaversham ~ twenty-two ~ criminology student ~ she/her (cis woman, asexual)
[ bio / muse / headcanons / spotify ]
Character Information
Originally hailing from Edinburgh, Olivia has been living for the last four years in Redwood Hollow with her father, Hiram, a toymaker and owner of a tiny souvenir shop.
Hiram was the victim of a kidnapping when his daughter was only eight years old, so ever since that awful event he has been rather overprotective of his daughter.
The Flavershams moved to this quiet little American town searching for peace, and for Olivia to study Criminology at Redwood College, on the recommendation of Dr Dawson, a friend of the family.
Olivia is extremely kind and friendly to all, though she is also quite excitable, slightly naïve, and just a little bit bratty, as a result from her sheltered upbringing.
With the wave of poisonings and thefts happening around town, despite her inexperience, Olivia is very much eager to help with the investigation and bring justice to her new home.
Wanted Connections
Friends: As the warm and sociable person she is, Olivia has a bunch of friends already whom she trusts and loves. She’s always excited to establish new relationships though –the more the merrier!
Professors: In order to be an excellent investigator, one needs a little guidance. Olivia is definitely someone happy to learn, if that helps her getting closer to her dream of becoming a Criminologist.
Partners: There's a mystery in town, and Olivia is determined to be the one to solve it. To be able to do that, however, she needs other investigators –let's say, the Watson to her Holmes.
Plot Ideas
Knitting Buddy: Apart from studying, reading and writing, Olivia's next favorite pastime is knitting, and would love for your character to join her with possible patterns and ideas. Yes, it's kind of a typical granny hobby –so that means it's plenty tried and tested!
Reluctant Associates: Olivia prides herself on being a very amiable girl: that doesn't mean that everyone has to love her. Maybe your character has to share a class with her, or is a fellow volunteer at the RHPD, and isn't exactly overjoyed at having to withstand her antics all day long.
Mysterious Leads: Your character might be aware of Olivia's naiveté and inexperience, and so decides to make her a harmless (or not) prank, handing her clues leading to a dead end. Or perhaps they want to make sure Olivia stays out of their way...
Taken Connections
Friends: @xalicethewonderx, @figarofabbri, @tianarpowell
Other
I would love for Dr Dawson and Basil Baker to join! Apart from the fact that it would be awesome to have them around, I feel like either one of them could be great mentors for Olivia.
Penny's bio mentions her as a potential friend of Olivia; their shared experiences with kidnappings and parental disappearance may bring each other some mutual understanding and common ground to establish a strong friendship.

Sabbats: Lughnasadh Basics and Correspondences
Lughnasadh is one of the four Celtic Cross Quarter Festivals, also referred to as the fire festivals. It is the first of three harvest festivals held in the fall. As the grain and corn are gathered and preserved for the season, farmers celebrated the last of the long and warm days of summer.
The cross quarters are linked to an old farming calendar. This was a time when people were very close to the land and their lives were governed by the changing of the seasons and the need to grow enough food to survive. Modern Irish Gaelic calls the month of August Lúnasa which is the modern variation of Lughnasadh. The name originates from Lugh, a mythological hero to some, sun god to others.

Task Eleven → Intro & Connections
CHARACTER INFORMATION
FULL NAME: Basil Augustus Sherringford Baker GENDER: cis male PRONOUNS: he/him AGE: 39 OCCUPATION: Private consulting detective ORIENTATION: Asexual RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Single
+ Dauntless, Determined, Tenacious - Prickly, Self-centred, Operatic
Basil comes from a family lineage in England stretching back centuries. His ancestors had been knighted, served as MPs in Parliament and had the favor of several monarchs. His own father is the head of a multi-billion dollar corporation with connections around the world. His older brother is a highly-respected figure who has the ear of many government officials. With such a pedigree, it seemed natural that Basil too would aspire to a lofty position. Yet that was not and indeed had never been what he wanted.
Ever since he was young, Basil has admired the skills and exploits of Sherlock Holmes. He voraciously read his grandmother’s collection of Conan-Doyle paperbacks as well as watching TV and movie adaptations of the great detective. All of this made him determined to go on to a career in law enforcement, for which the most logical path seemed to be becoming a police officer. Yet, after starting training, it soon became apparent that particular route was not for him. Holmes had not been a police officer himself, after all, but he was an expert in a great many fields. So Basil went on to university, broadening his horizons in a number of subjects and collecting diplomas and degrees in nearly every field he studied.
Armed with such a vast collection of knowledge, he became a private investigator, and an exceedingly good one at that. His skills were tested early on when he went up against the notorious criminal Ratigan. While he may have still been relatively green as an investigator, his knowledge and intellect proved invaluable, and helped him make a name for himself. This event not only proved that Basil had finally found his calling as a top-notch detective, but also showed criminals that he was not to be underestimated.
These days, his reputation as one of the finest private detectives in the world precedes him, and has led him to Redwood Hollow. Knowing his talent for getting to the bottom of strange cases, an acquaintance tipped him off about the recent happenings in the town. Missing persons and strange illnesses are not exactly everyday happenings in a small town, so Basil has agreed to have a look into things. Not as an official case as yet, but being as he is rather good at spotting things which others might overlook, he is willing to see if there is something to indicate his particular skills are needed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
While his family name is an influential one, he does not like to fall back on it or on his father’s money and connections, preferring to earn his own way in the world.
WANTED CONNECTIONS
Friends -- Because he really doesn't have any, in town or otherwise!
Enemies / Criminals who he's helped to convict -- There are A LOT of these!
People who know his family -- There are also a lot of these!
WANTED PLOTS / PLOT IDEAS
Basil is very much out of his element being in a small town like this. He's good at not sticking out like a sore thumb, but he definitely does not know the real ins and outs of town. It would be fun to have someone rope him into getting involved in some of the town goings-on, and have him get to see first hand what really goes on in town.
He's focused on his plan to solve the mystery of what's going on in Redwood Hollow and does not want to get distracted. If someone interferes, either intentionally or not, Basil could get upset with them, and this could lead to a full-blown feud.
Someone knows what Basil is up to! He has not told anyone why he's really in town, but if someone either knows of him and his reputation or figures out who he is, they can conjecture as to why he is there. They can then choose to either help or hinder him.
TAKEN CONNECTIONS
None at the moment, actually! He needs to get to know more people!
OTHER
One character from the open tag you would like to see taken / added to the Most Wanted page: David Q. Dawson

OLIVIA FLAVERSHAM is twenty-two years old. She is a Criminology Major. She is the humanized version of Olivia Flaversham from the Disney film, The Great Mouse Detective.
+ Astute, Brave, Sweet - Rumbustious, Naive, Pedantic
ABOUT OLIVIA
The Flavershams aren’t exactly known for staying put. For starters, one night, Olivia’s mother, Hazel, went out for a walk and disappeared mysteriously when her daughter was only three. This experience deeply scarred her and her father, Hiram, who became obsessed with Olivia’s safety and knowing where she was at all times; and when her father went missing as well, during a birthday trip to London, Olivia found herself completely alone in an unfamiliar city. Determined to not let history repeat itself, she convinced private detective Basil Baker to investigate her father’s disappearance. He succeeded in finding her father, but the kidnapper managed to escape, and is still on the loose.
The Flavershams, afraid of the kidnapper attempting to harm them again, moved to Wellington, New Zealand, where Hazel’s family lived, and resided there for a while, before moving back to Hiram’s beloved Edinburgh for Olivia to finish high school. Once she turned eighteen, her father decided to relocate to Redwood Hollow, a supposedly safer town to live in, for Olivia to study Criminology at the Redwood college, after a recommendation from David Dawson, a friend of Basil Baker, with whom the Flavershams kept in touch.
Now, living in quaint little Redwood Hollow, Olivia is thankful for the peace and quiet she and her father are able to enjoy. But now that strange poisonings and mysterious thefts have shook the town, despite being deeply afraid of Hiram being next up in the list, she is secretly excited to be potentially able to catch a criminal of her own and prove herself.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION*
After moving around so much during her childhood, Olivia constantly shifts between an American, a New Zealand and a Scottish accent. This makes it slightly difficult to understand her, especially when she becomes excited and starts talking too fast.
Besides her interest in Criminology, her career of choice, she also has a knack for basic engineering, and loves tinkering with small devices, being pretty handy at fixing all sorts of things. This is the result of years of helping her father around with making little clockwork toys, which he sells as souvenirs from Redwood Hollow.
Olivia is deeply fascinated by true crime, despite her apparent innocence. She has a serious morbid streak, and sometimes forgets that most people don’t really want to hear the details of some grisly unsolved murder from the seventies.
CONNECTIONS
Basil Baker - Met Basil as a young child when he helped find her missing father. He inspired her to pursue criminology, so she could help others the way he helped her. David Q. Dawson - Helped find her missing father. David suggested that she apply for the course at Redwood College. Penny Pomeroy - A friend she met in her first year at Redwood College, after they shared a class together.
Olivia is currently unavailable. Her faceclaim is Thomasin McKenzie.

a bit of insight!
Deserey comes from a neglectful family. her father was MIA (not gone! a secret lore thing i have yet to explain!), her mother was an Italian immigrant who was struggling to be a single mom + learn a whole new culture, and so her older brother Basil was her main caretaker. Des was a very angry teen, and Basil is a DnD nerd, so i think the dynamic of 'badass punk police hating girl' and '7 foot tall loser who sweats if someone looks at him' is funny. (anything having Deserey with long hair is from her younger years. she got her hair chopped in a fight (trauma!), so out of guilt, she keeps it short).
and, of course, a bit of Elise, as a treat.

Forest Clover
Snapdragon
Sword Fern ~ Note: The identification comes from the asset name. It is found in the JoH DLC.
Trex
Waterweed ~ Note: In real life this is an entire genus not one particular plant. Though the six plants in this genus do share the common name of waterweed.
White Birch
Witchhazel
Additional Notes and Trivia
Morel - This mushroom is inferred due to the existence of Blighted Morel. However it is not explicitly specified there is a non-blighted morel.

How to Build Planter Raised Beds: A Step-by-Step Guide?
Building planter raised beds can be a rewarding project that adds both beauty and functionality to your garden. You'll need lumber for the frame, screws or nails, a saw, a drill, a level, weed barrier fabric, and soil. Select a sunny spot with good drainage for your raised bed. Decide how large you want your raised bed to be, keeping in mind the reach of your arms for easy maintenance. Cut the lumber to the desired lengths for the sides of the raised bed. Common dimensions are 4x4 or 2x6 boards. Use the cut lumber to assemble the frame of the raised bed. Use screws or nails to secure the corners. Use a level to ensure the raised bed is even. Remove any grass or weeds from the area where the raised bed will be placed. Line the bottom of the raised bed with weed barrier fabric to prevent weeds from growing up into the bed.
Benefits of Planter Raised Beds
Planter raised beds offer several advantages over traditional in-ground gardening. Firstly, they provide better soil drainage, which is crucial for preventing waterlogging and root rot. Secondly, they allow for easier weed control, as the elevated height makes it harder for weeds to take root. Additionally, planter raised beds offer better soil quality, as you can fill them with high-quality, nutrient-rich soil. Lastly, they are easier to maintain, as they require less bending and stooping, making gardening more accessible for people with mobility issues.
Choosing the Right Materials for Planter Raised Beds
When it comes to choosing materials for planter raised beds, there are several options to consider. Wood is a popular choice due to its natural look and affordability. Cedar and redwood are excellent choices for wooden raised beds, as they are naturally resistant to rot and decay. Another option is metal, such as galvanized steel, which is durable and long-lasting. Plastic is also a viable option, as it is lightweight and easy to clean. Ultimately, the choice of material will depend on your budget, aesthetic preferences, and durability requirements.
Design Tips for Planter Raised Beds
When designing planter raised beds, consider the layout of your garden and the plants you intend to grow. Make sure to leave enough space between the beds for easy access and maintenance. You can also incorporate features like trellises or arches for climbing plants. Additionally, consider the height of your raised beds, as taller beds can provide more planting space and easier access for harvesting.
Planting and Maintenance of Planter Raised Beds
Planting in planter raised beds is similar to planting in-ground gardens, but with some key differences. Make sure to use high-quality soil and amend it with compost or other organic matter to improve fertility. When it comes to maintenance, regular watering is essential, especially during hot weather. You should also regularly check for pests and diseases and take appropriate measures to control them.
Best Plants for Planter Raised Beds
Planter raised beds are ideal for growing a wide range of plants, including vegetables, herbs, flowers, and even small fruits. Some popular choices for vegetables include tomatoes, peppers, lettuce, and cucumbers. Herbs like basil, mint, and parsley also thrive in raised beds. For flowers, consider marigolds, petunias, and zinnias. Small fruits like strawberries and blueberries can also be grown successfully in planter raised beds.
Seasonal Care for Planter Raised Beds
Proper seasonal care is essential for the health and productivity of your planter raised beds. In the spring, prepare your beds by adding compost and other organic matter. Plant your crops according to the recommended planting times for your area. During the growing season, monitor your plants for signs of pests and diseases, and take prompt action if necessary. In the fall, clean up your beds and prepare them for winter by adding a layer of mulch to protect the soil and plants from frost.
Maximizing Yield in Planter Raised Beds
To maximize yield in your planter raised beds, consider companion planting, which involves planting compatible crops together to benefit each other. You can also use vertical gardening techniques, such as trellises and cages, to make the most of limited space. Additionally, practice crop rotation to prevent nutrient depletion and reduce the risk of pests and diseases. Finally, make sure to provide adequate water, sunlight, and nutrients to your plants to ensure healthy growth and abundant harvests.
Conclusion
In conclusion, planter raised beds can be a rewarding and beneficial project for any gardener. By following the step-by-step guide provided, you can create a durable and functional raised bed that enhances your gardening experience. From selecting the materials and preparing the site to constructing the bed and filling it with soil, each step plays a crucial role in the success of your raised bed.
