Movelist Evolution History

With Guilty Gear Xrd Rev2's Second Location Test coming up around the 11th, I thought I'd give you guys a little History Lesson to ponder.

I won't be talking about characters that aren't in Xrd Rev2's roster, so that should simplify things.

[AXL] ---Considering the changes made to Sparrowhawk Stance in Rev2, I can see why they didn't want Axl to feel like a traditional Murakumo Unit in BlazBlue, originally, Axl's attacks as of his revision in GGX were all single hits, with no vacuum whatsoever and very few moves were meant to juggle opponents but just annoy them from a distance. ---Axl once had a move called "Angry Thrust" (Dototsu) that let him rush opponents like a Dust Attack, but it was a low rushing maneuver so it easily low-profiled a lot of attacks. [BEDMAN] ---Even if Bedman's lost his 6H, he still has his tiger-knee Task A' to keep opponents busy on wakeup... never underestimate the Bed! ---His new multi-hit 6H is reminiscent of Charlotte Colde's Multi-hit thrust move from Samurai Showdown! This sometimes caused huge damage, especially in the corner... something to think about. [CHIPP] ---You wouldn't know it by his Xrd animation, but his Banki Messai (Thousand Ogre Destruction) Overdrive was originally his 6P attack done over and over and over... pretty silly right? ---Alpha Blade (his forward dash move) originally was its own projectile on startup that hit TWICE! An aura of Ki would surround Chipp's body just as he began to dash forwards... this nullified a lot of projectile spam back in the day, but was most commonly used as an OTG relauncher for combo loops! [ELPHELT] ---Just be lucky she doesn't have Chris Redfield's arsenal of weaponry in UMvC3... his mines were a pain to deal with... plus the low-profile shot to boot. ---Don't forget about Cable's Viper Beam from MvC2... yikes. [FAUST] ---His Instant Kill was originally his Overdrive "Mad Operation" and was ACTUALLY a Command Throw of all things! ---His "Giant Mini Faust" in Rev2 is reminiscent of the giant monster doll mini-boss found in Guilty Gear Judgment's Survival Mode... it also has armor hits like the rare Mini Potemkin drop he originally had. Something to look forward to. [I-NO] ---You wouldn't notice at first glance, but I-No still retains her old EX Mode's ground dash animation whenever she does grounded Dust combos, if you play as her in M.O.M. and equip the Cat Marked Pumps, she can use her ground dash as much as you want! Combined with "Emergency Escape" and the "Teleport" item and she'd have a ridiculously high jump with tons of safe aerial options. [KY] ---Ky's new 6H animation is reminiscent of his original Zwei Voltage Instant Kill. If you haven't seen it, you owe yourself the experience, it's quite pretty, even by today's standards. ---Originally, Ky's "Instant Kill" was a startup poke maneuver based on his Standing K, however regardless of whether or not it hit Mid or Low, Instant Kill Red Screens were considered nigh-inescapable unblockables and could be activated endlessly. The "Red Screen" that Instant Kill startups are known for later made it's way in to GGXrd in the form of DANGER TIME. ---Much like Sol, Ky's current 6H in Revelator was originally his "standing" 5H, it was also 3H in Accent Core... it was a great meaty, so who knows if they'll keep it or not. Ky's new 3H is a great tool too, and actually makes far Slash pokes useful. [LEO] ---Worth noting that Leo's 5H has a backwards hitbox which is a useful counter against crossup attempts (like Bedman's dash behind parry). ---In the future, Leo may get more sword-block moves like 5S,P... maybe even one to counter low normal attempts. [MAY] ---Back in GG1, May almost exclusively relied on her Aqua Rolling maneuver, since it could easily be spammed on the ground or in the air. It was so annoying she didn't even have to bother charging it. Now she has to use her Dolphins more strategically. ---Her current Instant Kill in Revelator is actually based on her original IK "bye-bye", as she used a Dolphin to catapult her opponent to the stars. So long, and thanks for all the Fish! [MILLIA] ---The "pin" (Silent Force) that everyone fears whenever Millia Jumps isn't really a Pin. It's a dagger in her hair. Also it wasn't originally a dagger... it was a Lance. It was actually an extension of her "Living Lancer" maneuver which she could manually control (the manual inputs were called "Hungry Bee". This was later replaced by the Bubble commands she currently has in Secret Garden. ---Her Tandem Top "disc" was originally called "Condemned Top" and had universal Wall-bounce properties and a knockback on startup, so it was actually safe to use as a stand-alone... almost like a DP reversal. ---Her "Lance" followup to her roll mixups is actually her "Forcebreak" followup to Lust Shaker, called "Longinus". ---Worth noting that Millia's Lust Shaker retains its 3rd animation change from Accent Core. Originally it leaned forwards and had a huge hitbox in GGX, and in GG1, it actually had a surprising juggle-factor that could keep enemies in the air for a long time in the corner. In fact, if you follow up a Ground Dust attack in to Lust Shaker, she can still do this a little bit. [POTEMKIN] ---Pote originally had a rushing command throw in Nitro Hook. He'd dash forwards and grab his opponent and smack them backwards causing a wall bounce. He may need it again if they plan on nerfing his Hammerfall with the new Blitzshield Cancels. ---His 6H was originally his STANDING 5H... which is ridiculous to think about. ---Slide Head was originally called "Graviton" and was fully chargeable, generating huge exploding shockwaves, not unlike Dizzy's Imperial Ray. ---His EX Mode had a stance called "Unbreakable Spirit" which gave him super armor in exchange for having total control to respond to an opponent's attacks. He could respond with Nitro Hook, Judge Gauntlet, Pote Buster, Heat Knuckle... and he could Overdrive Cancel in to Heavenly Pote Buster to boot! Talk about psychic reads... [RAMLETHAL] ---"Final" boss Valentine in GG2 had giant chainsaw elbow swords... her combos had a wide multi-hit reach too. ---Final Valentine also had a move where she planted her fingers in the ground and a volley of missiles would spring up in front of her (similar to Robo-Ky's Rocket Knee). [SIN] ---Hawk Baker wasn't originally a DP as far as I know... it was a trap catch counter (similar to Axl's Heaven can Wait). It might be possible for Sin to get a move that lets him parry attacks with his Flagpole. [SLAYER] ---Slayer's "dash-around" Dandy step from Accent Core got replaced in Xrd with a "wider" dash step, but even that is still Jump Cancel-able... and it'd be overkill if he could followup with Pile Bunker instantly from a dash like that anyway. ---Rev2 first Loketest gave his Bloodsucking Universe command bite some counter-hit properties... as if the bite loop wasn't scary enough... [SOL] ---Sol's 6P animation as we know it only existed since GGX. Originally, it was called a "Gamble Attack". This was because Sol would have to step forwards to attack and take a risk (he would step forward and thrust his elbow downwards originally). It was for this reason almost all character's 6P animations were changed to having Upper-body invincibility as universal Anti-Airs essentially, or in their Dead-Angle forms having full-invincibility despite having the same 6P animation. ---Speaking of Normal changes... Sol's 6H as we currently know it was originally his "standing" Heavy Slash. If his standing H had that kind of reach originally, who knows how he would have evolved if they hadn't changed it! ---Sol also had a "Mini Riot Stomp" dash move (66K), it was safe on block for him so it gave him nigh unlimited pressure options. It was renamed "Breaker Dash" and was added to EX Order-Sol's movelist in the Accent Core games, but was given a dashing headbutt maneuver instead and could also come out as a dashing jump Kick, though I'm unsure if that was an overhead or not. It'd be pretty crazy if Sol kept this. [VENOM] ---Realistically, it's debatable how Venom should deal with Q-five (QV) as an input. Originally, Ball Formation inputs were Half-circle inputs in GGX, and his move Dubious Curve was the equivalent of what is now Q-five but it was a reverse-DP input instead (421+button). Venom players should consider what is most comfortable to them for charging inputs, as with this new "backspin feature" to Carcass Raid and Stinger Aim in Rev2... it may come in to play later. ---If Venom ever combined his EX Overdrive Tactic Arch with Bishop Runout, he'd have an instant maxed out Bishop and be crazy hard to deal with! Just saying. ---Depending on how the 2nd loketest goes, Venom's new 2H crouching Heavy may actually be useful for Carcass Raid charging. [ZATO/EDDIE] ---Nowadays, nearly everyone has a projectile, so you'd think Drunkard Shade would be more powerful. Originally, Zato could capture projectiles in his Drunkard Shade and "store them for later" when he needed them. Something to think about for Zato's new zoning strategy. ---Shadow Gallery (his rising shark move) used to be called "Rise and Fall" and actually hit like Sol's Bandit Bringer if you can believe it! Imagine if it was a telegraphed Overhead with YRC and ground bounce! ---R.I.P. Dark Sentinel... such an awesome move will be forever missed.... unless they bring it back that is! [DIZZY] ---Dizzy hasn't changed all that much from her GGX days if you can believe it... the only real improvement is her battle stance. Originally it was at a "half view perspective", but this didn't match the perspective of other characters in battle, so in Xrd she got a 3/4th's view battle stance like everyone else! ---It's too bad they did away with Necro's Anger and Necro Install... she would've been super scary if they brought those back. In fact: imagine if Necro had an archer stance and shot energy arrows at you from a distance!!! ---Dizzy's flame fish looks suspiciously like Sol's Dragon Install face from GG2 Overture... any relation? Sol? [JACK-O'VALENTINE] ---The Original Valentine actually had a really funky "projectile juggle combo" which was the equivalent of Mu-12 stone setups. ---Valentine also had a very cute "slap combo" at close range, which Jack-O' never uses. [JAM] ---EX Jam originally had a command grab called Shupo Senken which essentially hit like Kenshiro's Hyakuretsuken. ---She also had a long-range ultra-fast projectile Banri Senken which was like a Ki bullet with a Dragon motif... ---Also, her "puffball" (Hyappo Shinshou) translates as "100 Step Shining Bell", so it's actually a "bell" not a "puffball". ---Her charging stance would be ridiculous if she existed in the first GG... not only could she stance-cancel them... she could use them mid-combo... scary to think about. [JOHNNY] ---Originally "Zweihander" was called "Divine Blade" and was done with his hand, not his leg... it also didn't crossup... so he has actually gotten stronger. ---Mist Finer Level 3 used to be a multi-hit mixup, but because it threw in actual "low Mist finers" mid-strike, unless the opponent blocked it low, they couldn't block it at all at that speed... it was the equivalent of getting caught in Tachibana Ukyo's Sasameyuki (Rapid Snowflakes slash) from Samurai Showdown. ---R.I.P. Ensenga... well, the original animation wasted a good bottle of whiskey, so I'm sure Johnny's glad it's no longer needed! [KUM] ---Kum's thrust kick (Reverse Four Tigers Sword) is actually very hard to deal with as a DP, especially if player is good at the execution (rapid fire Tiger Swords... ugh)... this may get nerfed at some point if they spam it too much, so keep that in mind. ---It "says" 3000 palm strike is vulnerable to Overdrives, but it would be nice if Blitz Shield charge moves could hit him out of it too. [RAVEN] ---Originally as of GG2 Overture Raven had something like 10 or more additional "poses" he could do after Verzweifelt... so be grateful he isn't as flashy as he used to be (or is it sexy to you?) [BAIKEN] ---Baiken's new "Kuchinashi" is reminiscent to the leaping sword animation startup of her original Youzansen. Youzansen was self-cancellable from the ground and could be spam-looped! In fact, if you RC Kuchinashi in to Youzansen, you'd get the full original animation! ---Fishing fly (her hook grab) was originally called "Kamaitachi" and was strictly horizontal and did a followup horizontal slash instead of Tetsuzansen, though I think it's still combo-able if you do it right. [ANSWER] ---If Answer is anything like famous Ninja Hattori Hanzo or even BlazBlue's Hibiki Kohaku, expect a lot of command throws as the highlight of the match. ---Ninja Feint mixups are very hard to predict, even more so than Millia's guessing games at times, so you really have to rely on the habits of your opponent to get a read on things.

JOB: martial and representative of the republic of lithuania. SCHOOLING: the forest is his teacher, and he is still learning. SPOKEN LANGUAGES: fluent in english, lithuanian, samogitian && aukštaitian ( dialects of lithuanian, considered by some to be completely different languages ), latin, latvian, curonian, estonian, polish, belarusian, russian, tree language. knows fragmented irish gaelic and french due to his close friendships with ireland and france. If you question whether or not a miata is a reliable daily, let me tell you a little tale..

So here’s the story, about a year ago me and my dad were hunting for a vehicle to race in the annual shitbox ice race we had been participating in for the past few years. For about 12 months I had been keeping a very close eye on the car ads in my province searching for a shitbox we could dominate with on the frozen lake when I see a dusty red automatic miata for purchase for about $1500. It had a hard top, a big ol’ dent in the fender, and an absolutely banging stereo. It was perfect. In about a weeks time we were at the guys apartment picking up the little red turd for $1200 cad. When we drove it home that night we started to learn about the “charms” this vehicle had to offer. For starters the headlights absolutely bit, I had my head out the window guiding my dad through the construction that littered the streets back to our house. This was an easy task because there was absolutely no passenger window. No passenger window in the wintertime meant it was colder than a witches tit on the drive back. We also discovered that the previous owner had emptied an entire box of “Mr.Noodles” into the vehicle and it was getting ground to a fine snortable powder under my buttocks as I sat in the passenger seat. We somehow managed to make it home without causing any major accidents and we began the task of preparing the car for the jankiest racing event ever invented. For the next couple weeks I would spend my weekends trying to scrub all the hepatitis and layers of crust out of the miata. At some point we figured it needed googly eyes and a boso style straightpipe exhaust with supertrapp disks on the end. The exhaust was basically made up of 20 different sized pieces of piping that were laying around the shop but it seemed to do the job of making it the most obnoxiously loud car you will ever see. We slapped some studded tires on it and basically decided it was ready for 4+ hours of absolute ice racing abuse. The night before the test day at the frozen lake it snowed about a foot which eliminated any chance of us actually driving the car to the track so we ended up strapping it to a trailer and towing it there instead. When we arrived at the track we unloaded the turd and off-roaded it down to the lake track (which was still being “carved” at the time). We cranked up the Alice cooper on the stereo and we started to haul major ass. Now the car actually did something that surprised us both, it was very very very good on the ice. Not once in a million years would we ever consider a miata to be a world class vehicle on a ice track. However we couldn’t really say the same about snow banks because the whole front end of the vehicle pretty much siezed up when it got snow packed into it. After we did some spirited crashing and a handful of laps and we much called it a day and parked the miata back near our trailer. The following day we would return to see the fleet of cars brought by our competitors. The most notable ones being a rainbow ball of metal which you almost couldn’t believe was running (or was even a car at some point for that matter) and a caged dodge omni. Now that I think of it there was even a lancer participating at some point. The MX-5HIT would really have some stiff competition. The drivers gather around to discuss the rules. The rules were simple. 1. You must be able to reach the beer cooler in the back seat. 2. When someone bins it into the snow barrier outlining the track we would all come to a stop to pull him out (this ended up keeping the racing extremely close for multiple hours). 3. On the final laps it would be “prison rules” where anything goes and nobody would be rescued. 4. Pee breaks would be held periodically and we would stop to eat food somewhere in the middle of the race. Personally I think this ruleset is flawless and every form of Motorsport should adopt them. Anyways, all the road hazards line up to the start line and take off in a plume of impending mechanical disaster. Immediately the MX-5HIT squeezes its way to the front of the pack behind some caged neons. The sheer racket this straightpiped turd was making was an absolute spectacle. We roared down the straightaway at over 120kmh with no foresight to how we would eventually slow down, but it didn’t matter, this car was starting to show its true colours as an ice racing beast. At the halfway mark in the race a handful of cars had already been “eliminated”. Remember that rainbow ball of metal I referenced? I guess it turned out to be a corolla (or what was left of one). The driver hit the snow bank so hard that it send snow about 70 feet in the air. The impact caused the transmission to completely empty itself of any sort of fluids. I also believe the lancer retired early as well due to similar mechanical issues (as the car mysteriously vanished part way through the race). Honestly if I was a betting man I wouldn’t be counting on the miata making it either. At that point it had been at around 6000rpm steady for about 2 hours yet it still showed no signs of wanting to through the towel in. After a short break we resumed the antics of thrashing some junkyard rejects around the frozen lake for another mildly uneventful couple hours. A flag was waved and we returned to the start/finish line to prepare for the final prison rule laps. The race starts and once again the miata stutters its way back into the lead (I forgot to mention this entire time the car had a catastrophic misfiring issue either due to a bad AFM or coil pack so it was basically running on 3 until it reached over 4K rpm so we had to keep the revs high for the whole race). Halfway through the prison laps we almost got sandwhich between 75% of a Ford Explorer and an ice barrier but the small miata slipped through like a wet bar of soap. Coming on the last laps we had essentially secured podium somehow. The outcast miata had beaten the odds. Not only was it a compatible ice racing vehicle but it also held together at 6k rpm for the better part of a 4-5 hour endurance race with absolutely zero problems. We cross the finish line sideways blaring eurobeat as loud as it would go and then we pull into the pits where we get to assess what the racing ended up doing to the car. As we peel ourselves off the hot seats we notice that the 30 year old seat fabric is steaming. All the hepatitis I had convinced myself that was absorbed within the dirty seat fabric had now gone airborne. Other than that the car seemed absolutely flawless, the only difficulty we ended up having is cleaning up the snow in the engine bay because the bottom is completely sealed off which meant snow could just fill the engine bay completely. We also found out that the hot engine had basically turned the snow into an ice cocoon for the bottom half of the engine. Other than that the persistent MX-5HIT had saved itself from an impending future of being crushed at the local scrap yard.

After the race the MX-5HIT pretty much sat dormant in a shed rotting away for 8 months until I decided to try to “repair” the mangled soft top roof. Now I would like to say some words of advice, never never never never ever ever ever ever think you can repair a miata soft top. It’s absolute hell. From the disassembly to the re assembly it’s an absolute pain in the ass. I somehow managed to get a completely new top fitted and the old one removed in a total of about 2 days. With my new soft top fitted I try to latch the roof onto the car to make sure everything fits right when i hear a ripping sound. I glance over to the drivers side of the vehicle to see a 7.5 inch tear along the edge of my brand new soft top. Honestly if I wasn’t such a calm individual I have no doubt I would have probably thrown whatever I was holding right through the side of the car. After that the car just sat around for another month until I decided to fix the misfiring problem. A coil pack was ordered and I made it my goal to instal it in the least botch way possible. I fired the car up and it still ran like shit (I guess it’s called the MX-5HIT for a reason right?) so I do some very very brief online browsing and somehow my brain came to a conclusion that I need to “clean the MAF”. Now there are a few problems with that. The first being that my particular miata never came with a MAF, it came with a AFM. The second of the problems was that I didn’t bother taking the time to look up what a miata MAF actually looked like. So me being stupid I decide to unscrew the plug on the side of the AFM (oppose to just unplugging it) and I sprayed MAF cleaner inside. Little did I know that when you unscrew the side of the AFM instead of unplugging it and pull on the cable, it’s the equivalent to when a bee stings something and the stinger rips its guts out making it die. had killed my miata. The car wouldn’t start or anything. My brain slowly puts the puzzle pieces together and I realize that I am a fool. When my dad discovered that the eye sore of a car would be a semi permenant decoration in his shop until another AFM was ordered he said that he wanted to strangle me Homer Simpson style. We managed to saw the top of the AFM off and do some open heart surgery to all the connectors I had obliterated. The car now ran and I saved myself from getting an ass whooping of the century.

Somehow I had convinced myself that it would be a smart idea to bring the hurt car home and use it as a daily driver. Boy was I a big dummy. The first clue that something with the car was wrong was when I took it for a rip an it momentarily hesitated when I touched the throttle. I thought it was odd but thought nothing of it. A couple days later the car passes away yet again but this time in my school parking lot. Out of all the things that killed this relic it ended up being me. The open heart surgery on the AFM just didn’t hold. Andddd the miata spends yet more time sitting around. Eventually a new AFM was ordered and installed the right way (live and learn I guess right?). It was during installation I found a special pool of liquid forming within the engine bay, scratch that, two pools of liquid. The first being the master cylinder which decided that it only wanted to leak everywhere and take the paint off the car instead of Hold fluid. The second was the fluid reservoir for the windshield wipers which leaked worse than a bucket with no bottom. The car is an absolute cursed dangerous pile of shit but for some reason I couldn’t bear seeing it part with my family. I actually got curious one day and decided to do some looking into on the previous service history and accident reports on our little racecar (since the car came with absolutely zero papers saying it was ever serviced) and by golly it hadn’t been touched a Mazda employee since the day it was built in Hiroshima back in the late 80’s. It turns out it wasn’t missing service papers, it just didn’t have any. And this was the same vehicle that spent 4-5 hours in the red with all 90hp screaming at 6000rpm. I’ve convinced myself that this car deserves a second life that isn’t the junk yard. Sure it may be the rustiest slowest miata in the continent but it’s one tough bastard. And I’m not sure if I’m the only one but I had zero interest in owning a miata until I actually got the chance to drive one. Even the shittiest miata of them all still ended up being a good ass car.

Should I hire an attorney for this?, I purchased a policy online a few months ago within the first few days that i had this insurance I had a storm and damaged my vehicle (minor) with hail damaged I submitted out a claim, appraiser was sent they covered the loss sent a check to me, now i take it to the bodyshop and try to have it fixed but they need a supplement, they contact insurance co. but insurance co, makes many excuses over this they state I dont have full coverage which I do, and it was verfied with them that i do, the next few weeks pass and then I finally get a call from a manager at the insurance company stating that they mistakenly sent me out a check because I made a false claim report, they said that they can tell by my pictures before policy was bought that vehicle had damaged (which is an excuse of denying supplement) and stated the the adjuster overlooked everything point here is that insurance co, cancelled my policy by stating underwriting issues, so now Im without insurance coverage, the manager also stated she reported this to the texas state but mentioned she could not put a stop payment on the check and that I could still use it to fix the car or cashout the check... I am really dissapointed at how all this was handelled, Im thinking about getting an attorney, I already discussed and this issue with the Insurance company and Im basicly told that I lied about the claim and they end my call... Should I wait to get an attorney or should I just get one and go from there? I believe this is bad faith insurance coverage, What should I do? I mean I still have the check it is not cashed out, I cant really do much with this check everyone charges an arm and a leg, can they file insurance fraud charges and if so even though I know I did everything right should I get an attorney?""

Good morning! Can anyone suggest a good dental insurance plan?

We had blue cross and blue shield and were not happy with it! We live in a semi small area and the only dentist office that accepted our plan never called us back after 15 voice mails and NEVEr answered their phones so we never were able to make an appointment! So I cancelled the policy. We need some dental insurance. I need to take my son in to get his teeth looked at and my husbands. We live in FL and there just doesn't seem to be a lot that I'm finding. Anyone have a suggestion?

6'1 , 25 y/o male, spent the majority of the past 4 years dropping from 430lbs to a current 198lbs. The weight loss has left me with large amounts of sagging skin on my inner thighs, pelvis, abdomen, chest and upper arms. Wednesday night draft!

6 Person Ixalan (3xXLN)

This week I got pushed into a archetype early by a rare and then got very lucky when that happened to be open. When it comes together the vampires deck is the best deck in this format, but it can be hard to assemble. In my case I by getting some of the pieces early I was able to force everyone else out and sweep up the things I needed. Ultimately the deck performed very well whereas I lived up to the name of this blog and punted game three of round three for a 2-1 record that put me in third.

The Draft (Each pick in order from top to bottom, then left to right)

Legion's Landing // Adanto, the First Fort is one of the few rares in this set that you are very happy to first pick. Since Ixalan is so focused around cheaper creatures getting in early having a one drop that makes a creature can really put your opponent on the backfoot if they would like to swing turn two or three. Then when it flips it gives you a place to sink your mana. Since cards that are good in the early and late game are so few and far between taking one pick one is a real victory. The next pack did not have a great deal of power so I decided to bank to the archetype given to me pick one and take Queen's Bay Soldier. In the wonderful world of Ixalan one mana combat tricks are some of the best cards in this set. Because people are attacking so aggressively you are very likely to be able to cast a two drop on turn three and use this to pick off whatever they swing with next turn. As for the available tricks in white, I would prefer Vampire's Zeal but I will play any number of Slash of Talons and take them both very highly. Even higher than the Pious Interdiction in the fourth pack. Another Queen's Bay Soldier follows up the slashes and it starts to look like the vampire deck might come together. Encampment Keeper is one of the weaker cards in the keeper cycle. As I've said in the past you have to evaluate these ignoring the ability and a 1/1 first strike for one isn't exactly the bees knees. But given that I have the two Slash of Talons so far the power of first strike goes up quite a bit since I am able to eat larger things. Bright Reprisal is a bit expensive for how hard it is to use, but with the low power of rest of the pack removal was the best option. Unfriendly Fire is a shot in the dark from a pack that didn't have anything else for me. Dire Fleet Interloper isn't a vampire but it is playable. It's very underwhelming if you miss on the explore but you're not unhappy with 3/3 menace for four. Next pack that Pious Interdiction came around again and I squealed with glee (internally, I don't think my opponents would have appreciated that) because white had to be completely open for this to happen. A second Encampment Keeper points to that as well, but less so since Encampment Keeper is only good in the aggressive white decks. Since I'm in vampires you might then I was glad to see Queen's Agent as my boot, but it's just too expensive and unplayable in this format.

Pack two I saw a vampire rare in the pack and grabbed it. In hindsight this was a mistake because only counting the cards up now do I realize Vampire's Zeal was also in the pack and should have been the pick. Paladin of the Bloodstained is a powerful part of the vampire deck's curve. It's a 4/3′s worth of stats for four mana which is generally above the curve in this format. Plus having it split up into to creatures gives you more versatility and having lifelink on the token is a boost to power. All in all this makes Paladin of the Bloodstained one of the better commons in this deck. Grim Captain's Call is a gamble. In order for this card to be playable you must get at least two cards off of it. At the moment I've got a potential to get two if I my interloper managed to get out and die. There are also good dinosaurs in white and we are early enough in the draft I could still open to snag a couple. Skymarch Bloodletter is another key piece to the curve. Getting a flyer in Ixalan can put a clock on the agonizing board stalls that can happen when the aggressive game falls apart. The foil Siren Stormtamer was a money draft plain and simple since it's worth about $5 right now. Call to the Feast coming all the way around like that let me know that even though someone might be in either of my colors, no one was in both. The Vampire's Zeal I missed pack one came back and I snapped it right up. I'm running enough vampires already that the first strike is almost guaranteed. Imperial Lancer is okay if there are dinos in your deck but since I have none it's a throwaway pick here. Given that everyone is running small things Legions Judgement is a sideboard card, but one I'm happy to have one of. A second Paladin of the Bloodstained is worth my pick just as much as the first. A third Slash of Talons makes one drops suite start to look very good.

Pack three was an off color rare and uncommons which put me in a bind choosing between Bishop's Soldier and Skulduggery. I think that Skulduggery is a very good card in this format and in most situations I think I would have taken it. This time however I already had four combat tricks for one mana. Having an abundance of tricks does me no good if I can't get into combat so that is one point for the creature. Another factor is the color; I'm B/W for sure but with mostly white cards that I want to play early. Because of this I'm likely to play more Plains than Swamps and if I have the Soldier then I won't be screwed when I don't find the swamp. Queen's Commission is a staple three drop of this deck. Demystify is a mediocre sideboard card, but the pack lacked anything else I wanted. Emissary of Sunrise is one of the better cards in the deck as I have it, even if I miss on the explore. Combined with any of my combat tricks it completely eats a creature with four toughness which is just about everything in this set. Glorifier of Dusk is a the kind of vampire payoff I've been looking for. I'll be making boatloads of lifelinking tokens so I am not worried about paying the life for the ability and can evaluate this as a 4/4 with flying and vigilance for five mana which is really good. A second Queen's Commission confirms for the billionth time that I'm the only white player in the pod. The Skulduggery I thought about so hard in pick one came back and I didn't have to think at all for that pick. The rest of the picks really just made themselves. There either was the on color card I've already established is good, or a nothing in my colors and just make a throwaway pick.

Round 1 (2-0) I rumbled against a B/U pirates deck. Game one they opened with Island into Shore Keeper and then didn't play a single card while I curved out Bishop's Soldier turn two into Queen's Commission turn three into Encampment Keeper + Queen's Commission turn four at which point they scooped. Game two I cannot provide you which as much detail as it went on much longer. I opened with Legion's Landing though which was ultimately what won this game. I start off attacking for decent damage but they eventually got a big enough board state to stabilize. My growing army of vampires stared at their Sailor of Means and Desperate Castways that I could't get through. They eventually found Mark of the Vampire and put it on a flyer to start a comeback. The game ended with a drew Encampment Keeper, played it, and then had to send four vampires to their death just to ensure I didn't die to my opponents six power worth of flying. Next turn I popped the Encampment Keeper and hit him hard enough that the game was over.

Round 2 (2-0) was against a B/U/R pirates deck with a focus on U/R. Both games their downfall was being too aggresive. Multiple times they played Swashbuckling on a creature and attacked me which it while I had vampire tokens out. This was a huge mistake since the lifelink skewed that race in my favor. If they had left the creatures up to block we wouldn't have been racing and with the amount of control they had there was no way I was winning a game that went on too long.

Round 3 (2-1) was G/U merfolk deck with all the pieces. All three games were very close. They had an array of flyers and multiple Grazing Whiptails as well as Shaper of Nature which put me at a real disadvantage in the late game. Game one this was the case, but I top decked two Encampment Keepers in a row. Game two didn't go as well for me when I was stuck on 2 lands for several turns. I was able to do things with that mana so I wasn't dead in the water, but they got to their big things that I couldn't deal with even if I had mana. Game three was a board stall for most of the game until they found a flyer and put the clock on. I ultimately punted this game with a crucial misplay. I had 2 Plains and two Swamps with two Slash of Talons and a Queen's Commission in my hand. They had a Wind Strider and Ixalli's Keeper on the board with seven mana available while I had no flyers. I, like a fool, played Queen's Commission and passed. Maybe if I had left both mana up they would have activated before combat to dodge the double Slash but instead of leaving open that small window for victory I punted it. Remember kids, pay attention to what all is on the board.
