Ben Metzner at TNR:
Georgia’s former Republican Lieutenant Governor Geoff Duncan announced Monday that he is endorsing Joe Biden in the 2024 election, a stunning defection that puts him at odds with other leaders in his party. Countless Republicans who have been personally slighted by Donald Trump, from William Barr to Ted Cruz, have nonetheless pledged their support to him in the upcoming election. But Duncan has drawn a line in the sand. The former Georgia official faced pressure from the Trump campaign to stop the certification of 2020 election results in the crucial swing state.
“The healing of the Republican Party cannot begin with Trump as president (and that’s aside from the untold damage that potentially awaits our country),” Duncan wrote in an op-ed for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “This November, I am voting for a decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass.” Despite conservatives’ insistence to the contrary, Trump’s legal troubles are convincing some Republican voters to jump ship ahead of the 2024 presidential election. Duncan, for his part, cited Trump’s criminal case directly: “The alternative is another term of Trump, a man who has disqualified himself through his conduct and his character. The headlines are ablaze with his hush-money trial over allegations of improper record-keeping for payments to conceal an affair with an adult-film star,” he wrote.
Former Georgia Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan (R) wrote an op-ed in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he'll endorse Joe Biden in the general elections despite many policy differences between the two.

Westfront 1918 (G.W. Pabst, 1930)
Cast: Fritz Kampers, Gustav Diessl, Hans-Joachim Möbis, Claus Clausen, Jackie Monnier, Hanna Hoessrich, Ersa Heller. Screenplay: Ladislaus Vajda, Peter Martin Lampel, based on a novel by Ernst Johannsen. Cinematography: Charles Métain, Fritz Arno Wagner. Art direction: Ernö Metzner. Film editing:  W.L. Bagier, Jean Oser, Marc Sorkin. Music: Alexander Laszlo.  Authenticity is a problematic criterion to apply to any work of art, but especially a motion picture, considering that fakery is a given at almost every level of its creation. Even a documentary is subject to editing, narration, and various manipulations of point of view. We usually critique a film's authenticity only when it serves our own agendas, or when it is so manifestly lacking that it stretches credibility. Pabst's Westfront 1918, an exceptionally effective movie about German soldiers in the last days of World War I, just happened to be released in the same year as All Quiet on the Western Front (Lewis Milestone, 1930), which won the best picture Oscar. The German soldiers in All Quiet are Americans like Louis Wolheim (born in New York), Lew Ayres (from Minneapolis), and Ben Alexander (from Nevada). Pabst's film features German and Austrian actors, one of whom, Gustav Diessl, had actually been a prisoner of war during World War I. So Westfront 1918 would seem to have the authenticity criterion sewn up. Does this necessarily make it a better film than All Quiet? The truth is, I would have to rate it a draw: What Milestone's film lacks in authenticity it makes up for with Hollywood finesse, an efficiency in storytelling and the polish brought by technical expertise. There are parts of Pabst's film that seem extraneous, such as the section in which the troops enjoy some rather corny vaudeville routines. But the movie also has an abundance of extremely well-staged combat scenes that demonstrate the confusion and terror, the "fog of war." And it has a core of fine performers -- especially Diessl as Karl, who goes home on leave to find his wife in bed with the butcher who has been supplying her with food in exchange for sex, but also Hans-Joachim Möbis as the naïve student who falls in love with a French girl, and Claus Clausen as the lieutenant who has a mental breakdown under the strain of combat. With its home front scenes, Pabst's has that undeniable depth of feeling that can only come from an awareness of what that disastrous war did to the country in which the actors and filmmakers lived. Three years after Westfront 1918 was released, to a good deal of controversy about its treatment of the war as folly, it was suppressed by the newly emergent National Socialist regime as deleterious to morale. Pabst's film concluded with the word "Ende?!" which in itself qualifies as prophetic.

(Dunno if I’ve made a post about this yet, but my witches are pagans, most of whom follow a set of deities that I made up specifically for this blog. They’re kinda…I dunno, Fae-like in some aspects, demonic in others, but also embodiments of certain parts of nature? Some of them still live rent free in my head tbh and I’m tempted to turn them into muses. 😈 This is kinda long, but here’s the list.)
There are three main deities, and a circle of thirteen lesser deities, all unique in their interests and whom they favor.
Main Deities~
Phoenaden: God of fire, death, rebirth, and change. Often appears in pagan art and literature as either a legendary phoenix or a man shrouded in darkness with fire in his eyes. He favors those who look to change and better themselves, and shuns those who fear death and risk-taking, as both are natural parts of the life cycle. FC: Ian Somerholder
Tumblr media
Mermarella: Goddess of water, life, beauty, and vitality. She usually appears as a beautiful woman who exhibits anatomical traits of various sea creatures, bare-breasted and proud of her enchanting looks. She favors those who are outgoing, proud, and who aspire to be the star of the show that is their life. She shuns those who disrespect the sea and its inhabitants, as well as cowards and entitled assholes. FC: Victoria Di Angelis
Tumblr media
Terrafan: Non-binary God of the earth, balance, strength, and humility. They often are depicted taking various forms, with the most common being a muscular youth with rocks and tree bark protruding from their body, joining hands with their brother and sister to try and calm the everlasting feud between the two. They favor those who value peace and humility and who strive to accept themselves for who they are at their core, and they shun those who would crush others underfoot in order to realize their ambitions.
Minor Deities~
Rian: God of winter, truth, and bitter revenge. He’s depicted as a man with sharp features, skin paler than death, pure white eyes, and a bloody hole where his heart should be, clothed in grey leather armor and crowned with icicles. He doesn’t often show favor toward mortals, but when he does, it goes to those who have had their hearts shattered by someone they trusted. He despises those who are fickle, manipulative, and dishonest. FC: Samuel Roukin
Tumblr media
Aviva: Goddess of spring, awakening, love, and fertility. She often takes the form of a young woman with deer-like antlers, dewy green skin, and a dress woven from leaves, twigs, and flowers, and has been depicted as attempting to rouse Rian out of his melancholy sourness once every year. She favors those who love freely, as well as babies and children, and shuns those who choose to hate and judge others. FC: Jenna Ortega
Tumblr media
Solas: God of bards, summer, freedom, and rebellion. Most often depicted as a headstrong and fearsome warrior in peasant’s clothes, with wild auburn hair and blazing eyes. He is also seen as being reckless and careless, chasing after mortal ideals without stopping to think of the damage he might cause. He favors those who stand up against injustice, and who take life by the horns, and he shuns tyrants and persecutors. FC: Ben Metzner
Tumblr media
Zarina: Goddess of fall, the harvest, and community. She is usually depicted as a tall matronly figure with mocha skin and eyes that reflect all of the many colors of the changing leaves, and acts as the mother of all of the seasonal deities. She favors those who put other’s needs ahead of their own, and shuns those who think only of themselves. FC: Kerry Washington
Tumblr media
Oaka: Goddess of the forest and nature’s bounty. She is the twin sister of Aviva, and is practical, level-headed, and in-tune with her surroundings, where her twin is aloof and flirtatious. She bears the same antlers and dewy green skin, but clothes herself in the leather attire of a huntress. She favors those who treasure nature and use its bounty to survive, and will often help lost and weary travelers find their way by taking the shape of an animal guide. FC: Jenna Ortega
Tumblr media
Khaion: God of tricks, illusions, passion, and thievery. Khaion is most known for stealing Rian’s heart, both literally and figuratively, and is often depicted as having his right hand permanently stained red with his former lover’s blood. He is also shown to be devilishly handsome and enticing. He favors those who work in the shadows to rise above their station, and thinks that selflessness is boring. FC: Haoxuan Wang (specifically in The Untamed)
Tumblr media
Caemis: God of the arts and creativity. He is depicted as being a sprightly youth who is always covered in paint and ink, and favors those who find the courage to express themselves in any way, shape, or form.
Cimera: Goddess of night, shadows, and the ostracized. Often depicted as a kind yet mysterious old woman with large black wings, Cimera smiles upon those who find comfort in the darkness, and who seek to stave off the loneliness of a world that judges and misunderstands them. She takes the outcasts and forsaken under her wing and comforts them. She shuns no one, and instead offers a listening ear and a warm embrace.
Kuldione: Goddess of magic and mystery. She is depicted as being a very alluring female figure with ram’s horns, wild and curly hair, and glowing eyes that never close, shrouded in flattering black robes. She is the sister of Khaion, Krynrena, and Kalyne, and favors witches no matter what their moral alignment.
Krynrena: Goddess of blood and war. Generally thought of as the most evil of the pagan dieties, Krynrena is depicted as being scantily clad in fur and bone armor, and spattered with blood. She also has a forked tongue and razor-sharp teeth. She favors violent individuals, those who use blood magic, and vampires.
Kalyne: God of knowledge and wisdom. They are known to bring visions of the future to those they have chosen to bless, and are often depicted as a raven-haired, non-binary individual with a book held in one hand and a crystal ball in the other. They favor those who seek to learn more about the world around them, and shun those who choose to remain ignorant and stuck in their ways.
Voaris: Goddess of the sky and storms. Voaris is seen as a very tempestuous and dual-natured individual. She is calm one moment, then wild and angry the next. She brings both beneficial rain and destructive wind, lightning, and hail. She is depicted as being wild and beautiful, grace and disaster in one being. She shows no particular favor or discrimination, but treats all as equals. FC: Gwendolyn Christie
Tumblr media
Xaine: God of the dawn, the sun, and justice. He is the brother of Cimera, and is often depicted as a sharp old man clad in golden armor, with the massive wings of an eagle. He strives to gain justice for those whose lives were wrongfully taken from them, and bathe their souls in warm light. He favors those who seek truth and treat others with honor and dignity.

One year old anniversary of Warriors of the World United by Feuerschwanz! (Manowar Cover)
youtube
On 6th of december, last year Feuerschwanz covered Manowar's Warriors of the World United from their album Memento Mori and I think this version is way better than the original track and that it has more energy and power.
In my opinion this is one of the best covers that I've ever heard, the day it came out I listened to it like 50 times... :D. The guest singers are great, and the mixing as well, because each singer is balanced and have their own part in the track. The video also turned out amazingly, the battling parts with Myu and Musch-Musch just added to the atmosphere of the song and it quickly became one of my favorites and possibly my number one favorite song. :)
Line-up :
• Prinz Richard Hodenherz III (Hodi) - Ben Metzner / vocals ( he is also the singer of the band DArtagnan)
• Hauptmann Feuerschwanz / Peter Henrici - vocals
• Johanna von der Vögelveide (Stephanie Pracht) - violin, hurdy-gurdy
• Hans der Aufrechte / Hans Platz - guitars
• Jarne Hodinsson - Bass
• Rollo H. Schönhaar - Drums
Guest singers:
• Melissa Bonny (Ad Infinitum, Rage of Light)
• Thomas Laszlo Winkler (ex-GloryHammer)
• Alea der Bescheidene (Saltatio Mortis)
