Puts the emphasis on being entertaining, which is okay. It stays mostly on the surface and is only marginally critical. But you still get a sense of how the music industry works.

The film at least briefly mentions the sources the song "Girl You Know It's True" borrowed from. Main ingredient are the beats from Eric B. & Rakim's "Paid In Full", which itself sampled heavily other songs.

B.C. judge denies status for victims families in Pickton evidence application

Article content A B.C. Supreme Court judge has dismissed applications by relatives of Robert Pickton’s victims to intervene in court proceedings over the RCMP’s plans to destroy evidence from the investigation into the serial killer. But Justice Frits Verhoeven says the families are to be notified of any RCMP applications to dispose of evidence and the court may grant them “a limited right of audience, if deemed necessary and appropriate.” Article content Lawyer Jason Gratl, who represents the victims’ relatives, says his clients are “not unhappy” with Monday’s decision, and the right to be notified and heard when appropriate is “sufficient” for their purposes. Gratl’s clients are involved in nine lawsuits against the late killer and his brother, David Pickton. The applicants had claimed the pending lawsuits gave them a direct interest in the outcome of the proceedings, in which the RCMP is applying for directions from the court about procedures for evidence destruction. Pickton, who died in May after being attacked in a Quebec prison, was convicted in 2007 on six counts of second-degree murder but is suspected of killing many more women who went missing from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. Sue Brown, the group’s director of advocacy, confirmed the move in an interview last month. “The court, at the end of the day, cannot order the RCMP to investigate these unsolved cases, they can only order the preservation of evidence and what we really need is a commitment politically from elected officials who are capable of ordering an investigation into the unsolved cases,” she said. But, Brown said, that is their goal. “We think we need to take this to the elected officials, whether provincially or federally, to put pressure on the RCMP and we want to see the RCMP recommit resources and properly investigate these cases,” she said in the June interview. “At a bare minimum, they should be retesting those exhibits to see if they can identify the DNA of other missing women’s cases who’ve never been tied to the farm.” RCMP have not yet applied to the court for disposal of any items, Monday’s intervener ruling said. Protest van Abena tegen Khbabez afgewezen

Niet alleen het achtmanstoernooi van Glory leverde een rel op door het incident tussen Jamal Ben Saddik en Rico Verhoeven. Ook het titelgevecht tussen Donegi Abena en Tarik Khbabez zorgde voor de nodige discussie. Khbabez pakte de titel af van Abena, maar die was het daar duidelijk niet mee eens en diende een protest in. Dat is uiteindelijk afgewezen. De partij was vooraf al erg pikant, want bij een crossfire in aanloop naar het gevecht liep het tussen beide al uit de hand en moest de beveiliging zelfs ingrijpen om de twee uit elkaar te houden. Uiteindelijk bleken Khbabez en Abena enorm aan elkaar gewaagd, maar het was de Marokkaan, die op jonge leeftijd naar Nederland verhuisde, die uiteindelijk op split decision wist te winnen en daarmee de titel overnam. Tot zover niets geks, maar Abena heeft zich na de partij nogal opgewonden om een moment waarop Maik Polanen, de coach van Khbabez, tijdens het gevecht de ring instapt. Abena schrijft op Instagram dat dit volgens niet mag: "Als iemand uit je hoek de ring instapt dan betekent dat directe diskwalificatie. Dat zijn de regels van Glory zelf." Polanen reageerde tegen Vechtsportinfo dat hij het beter niet had kunnen doen: "De adrenaline en alles in aanloop naar het gevecht kwam er daar uit." De coach vertelde ook dat Abena volgens hem een aantal keren na trapte en een stoot uitdeelde nadat de scheidsrechter tussen de twee vechters was gekomen. Saïd El Badoui, de coach van Abena, gaf tegen dezelfde website aan dat er een protest was ingediend. Een protest bij Glory komt uiteindelijk terecht bij Vechtsport Organisatie Nederland. Zij moeten beslissen wat ermee gedaan wordt. Alex Engelhardt, de voorzitter van V.O.N., liet tegen Vechtsportinfo weten dat het protest niet aan de voorwaarden voldeed: "Binnen 45 minuten na de wedstrijd moet worden aangegeven dat er een protest gaat komen en dat moet voor 12.00 uur de volgende dag zijn ingediend." Hij vertelde niet aan welke van de voorwaarden niet was voldaan. Ook wilde hij niet ingaan op de vraag of de scheidsrechter inderdaad Khbabez had moeten diskwalificeren: "Er was veel gaande in de ring, daardoor kan het zijn dat hij niet gelijk ingreep. Breda - De Bredaille is terug. Vorig jaar ontvingen 200 mensen dit uniek stukje Bredaas eremetaal. Vanaf nu kan iedereen zich inschrijven om dit jaar daar ook bij te horen. Alle 'meelopers' ontvangen de Bredaille 2023 als ze meelopen met minimaal drie Bredase hardloopevenementen. Dit jaar kan er gekozen worden uit vijf evenementen. De officiële uitreiking van de Bredaille 2023 is na de Bredase Singelloop op een fantastische locatie: de Grote Kerk. De Bredaille is in het leven geroepen om meer bekendheid te genereren voor de hardloopevenementen in Breda. De campagne, ontwikkeld door creatief bureau Wars, is een samenwerking tussen de gemeente Breda, atletiekvereniging Sprint en vijf Bredase loopevenementen: de Dorpsloop Teteringen, de Tien van 't Aogje, de 5 van Bavel, de Bredase Singelloop en de Haagse Beemden Loop. "Het was vorig jaar fantastisch om te zien hoe fanatiek Bredase hardlopers kunnen zijn om de trots van Breda om hun nek te hangen", aldus Daan Quaars, wethouder sport van Breda. "We zagen ook echt een verschil in aanmelding voor de 'kleinere' loopevenementen. Dit jaar hopen we het aantal te verdubbelen en ik heb er alle vertrouwen in dat ik al die mensen na de Singelloop trots in de Grote Kerk zie staan." Na het aanmelden op bredaille.nl moet er nog wel een aanmelding gedaan worden bij de hardloopevenementen zelf. Na aanmelding op deze site moet ook aangemeld worden bij de loopevenementen zelf door gebruik te maken van hetzelfde e-mailadres. Nadat de evenementen zijn geweest en ook daadwerkelijk zijn uitgelopen door de meeloper kan hij of zij de Bredaille in ontvangst nemen. Zij worden dan uitgenodigd voor de officiële Bredaille Ceremonie in de Grote Kerk.
