“The Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some regard slowness, but is being patient toward you, because he does not wish for any to perish but for all to come to repentance.”

What if God is just waiting for you to come to Him? We cannot exhaust the patience of an eternal God.
“Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice – alive, holy, and pleasing to God – which is your reasonable service. Do not be conformed to this present world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve what is the will of God – what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.”

🌲🍁🥧 Harvestfest 🌲🍁🥧
(Adalynn's POV)
Tumblr media
Happy Harvestfest! We all made out way to my parents house in Newcrest for a weekend full of family, food, and fellowship. One thing we tried to arrange beforehand was the grandkids picture since we didn't manage to get one last year, and now that the babies that were in utero last year have been born (and no one that we know of is pregnant) we decided now was the perfect time. We mixed up the kids so that there was a big kid-little kid plan, mostly for crowd control purposes so that they would be able to handle the toddlers. The oldest four (Noah, Luke, Chloe, and AJ) were holding the youngest four (Grace, Everett, Jackson, and Bethany). As the years go by and the children grow (and with more being born, Lord willing) we'll have to keep finding new ways to arrange all the children.
Tumblr media
Annette (21), Macie (33), Casandra (53), Allan (56), Ashton (17)
My parents and the girls at home are all doing great! Now that there's no longer anyone in school, my parents have more time for their other things, though it seems with the more the family grows the busier they'll get! My dad continues to shepherd the flock of Newcrest Baptist, there's a blossoming pastoral staff that also help to keep the place running for the Lord's glory. It also gives him time to travel to speaking engagements at other churches as well as different revivals, jubilee's, hymn sings, and festivals. My mother is also busy with her role as mother, grandmother, and pastor's wife. She somehow finds the time to show all of us that we're definitely loved and valued. She helps to homeschool Barrett and Kyleigh's kids whenever needed, as well as the kids coming to their house for music lessons. When they're not home or travelling to commitments, they're usually visiting with one of us that live out of town, they try and schedule their visits to us to coincide with their travelling for their commitments. My sisters are all busy busy bees! Macie splits her time between being at home or in ministry, and when she's not doing that she's visiting with one of us. Annette works as a babysitter helping families at church that need that extra support, she just loves children and is grateful she gets to spend time with children all day. Both girls remain in a season of singleness, and they're using it to the full, with our cousin Celeste getting married this winter they've been recruited to help with the planning and execution of the wedding. Ashton also babysits children in the congregation, she's in the church choir and spends her days helping out wherever she can. Since she has less responsibilities she spends the most time travelling, so she gets to spend longer amounts of time with the siblings.
Tumblr media
Mason (35) & Adalynn Leonard (34) with Titus (2) and Bethany (3m), Luke (10), Paul (8), Caleb (4), Joshua (6), Jonah (4), Noah (12), Aaron (9)
We are so thankful for the Lord's grace! Little Bethany joined our family this summer and we are over the moon that the Lord chose for this little girl to join us - her 8 older brothers and her parents are over the moon! We've had two kids get saved this year (Paul & Joshua) and it's such a blessing that we've been able to lead our kids to the Lord for his glory! Since the arrival of little miss, Mason and I have been feeling like the Lord is leading us in the direction of a new house. Since she's so young and has about a year in our room with us, we have time to see whether we're going to extend the house by adding a level or whether we'll move to a whole new house altogether. We've got a bunch of prayer warriors on our side so I'm sure we'll get an answer soon.
Tumblr media
(AN: Ignore the height differences, planning poses with so many sims means you gotta sacrifice a few things here and there)
Barrett (33) and Kyleigh Collins (31) with Preston (2) and Jackson (6m), Marigold (6), Daisy (7), Benjamin (9), Rose (8), Olivia (4), Violet (8), Jefferson (1), Allan Jr (9), and Chloe (9)
Barrett and Kyleigh are also thankful for a new blessing from the Lord, little Jackson made his appearance soon after Parker and Lana's wedding, so we got a 2-for-1 deal really! They're also prayerfully considering their house, so our prayer circles are really working hard in this season our two families are in. They also had two kids get saved this year, it brought so much joy to my heart when Kyleigh shared in our group chat that the girls had gotten saved and baptised at church! My parents started the tradition of gifting the 'savee' a bible and a family lunch, and it's such a precious tradition that they're able to now carry out with their grandchildren. They only have 12 grandkids that are in the average age range for getting saved (of course it can happen before or after that time period - all in the Lord's timing!), but as the grandchildren grow and continue to multiply they're going to need the Lord's help to get them everywhere that they're needed!
Tumblr media
Francisco (34) and Zoe Moreno (30) with Javier Jr (3) and Cassie (1)
Zoe and her family are happy and thriving in Windenburg, Francisco's job gives him weekends off so the family gets to attend church on the weekends. Zoe has amassed a solid amount of students that she teaches piano and violin, as well as some students that she video conferences for their lessons. With two young children to care for and a house to maintain, she's an expert at managing her time. They're slowly approaching the time when Francisco gets his orders and they've got to move, but they've not put their choices in yet so we have no idea where they'll be right now. Little Cassie turns two years old in a few months, so the plan is to have a birthday party for her when we're all back in town for Celeste's wedding. Ashton is heading back to Windenburg to spend some time with them as well as with Amira and her family, she'll ride back with them for the wedding.
Tumblr media
Shane (28) and Maggie Wright (27) with Iris (2) and Arlo Wright (2)
Maggie and her family are doing wonderful! They were in Sulani earlier this summer with Reece and Amira's families, it's wonderful getting to see my younger siblings bonding as adults with families of their own. Little Arlo and Iris seem to have grown leaps and bounds since I last saw them, the kids love getting to video chat with them and love whenever they get to visit with each other. Usually Maggie and her family will try and pass through to see us during their travels, so that's when the kids get to see each other.
Tumblr media
Reece (26) and Stacie Collins (26) with Liam (5) and Hazel (2)
Reece and Stacie have also been doing great, Liam has breezed through kindergarten and is getting ready to start grade 1. Stacie will be homeschooling Liam through a homeschool co-op, they said that they felt that was the best option for getting the kids socialised with like minded children.
Tumblr media
Beckett (24) and Mandy Collins (22)
Beckett and mandy are back for their yearly vacation from the mission field. It's so great to see them in person and hear the wonderful stories they have to tell about the great work that they're doing out there in Selvadorada. Whilst they haven't been blessed with a child as of yet, the Lord has kept them content with their current life and has showered them in blessings of many kinds. They'll be focusing on fundraising efforts for the mission field, as well as trying to see as much family as they can.
Tumblr media
Thomas (24) and Amira Eichelburg (23) with Maya (1)
Amira and her family are wonderful and thriving! Little Maya is such a sweet girl, a total reflection of her wonderful mother! Amira was such a wonderful baby and child, and Maya is exactly like her mother. Their little family are wonderful and are so blessed by the Lord, and they've been doing more travelling this year when their schedule allows. They'll be sharing Ashton with Zoe this winter as they get to have some quality sister time before we meet again for Celeste's wedding.
Tumblr media
Felix (26) and Priscilla Robert (21) with Andrew (2) and Grace (9m)
Little Grace has joined the family since we were last all together, and her name is so precious! Little Andrew is such a wonderful big brother and these two babies are the light of their parents lives! Priscilla always says that life in Oasis Springs spoils them with the heat, but she does miss having the traditional autumn and winter weather and is glad to be with family - as we all are!
Tumblr media
Charles (20) and Lorilee Collins (19) with Everett (9m)
Charles and Lorilee welcomed little Everett into the family around the new year, and have been thanking the Lord for that blessing. Lorilee has been sharing that she's been doing better than expected at the postpartum period, especially for a first-timer. They're talking about moving out of their apartment and finding a house for their little family (that they're hoping to expand!)
Tumblr media
Parker (19) and Lana (19) Collins
Lana was also a new joiner to the family this year! She's such a sweet girl and is a wonderful wife to Parker. Their wedding was beautiful and wonderfully glorified the Lord, which is a testament to the minds and hearts of Parker and Lana. As an older sibling, it's been my prayer that my siblings find spouses that challenge them and push them to the Lord, and I'm thankful to say that Lana does exactly that!
Tumblr media
We also managed to take a group picture! There's 55 people in our 'immediate' family - imagine that! There's my parents, then the 13 kids, the 10 spouses, and 30 grandkids! The lord has blessed us greatly and beyond our wildest imagination.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
For comparison, this is a picture from way before any of us got married, and then a picture with Mason, Noah, and Kyleigh in the family. Who would've thought that in less than 15 years we'd go from a family of 15 to a family of 55! This is probably the biggest example of God's goodness in our lives!

Al-Maghtas. The Place Where the Lord Was Baptized
In the Gospel the place where the Lord was baptized is called “Bethabara”, (בית עברה, meaning “house of the ford” or “house of the crossing” in Hebrew): These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing (Jn. 1:28). The early Greek manuscripts of the New Testament mention the toponym “Bethabara (Bethany) beyond the Jordan” in this verse. It is known that over its history the Jordan River has constantly changed its course, so it is extremely difficult to trace where it lay in the time of Jesus. - Anton Pospelov
Al-Maghtas
But it turned out to be possible to find the place which was honored as the Baptism site of Christ in the early Byzantine era. Thus, according to the account of Theodosius, a pilgrim from the West who wrote in about the year 530: “Five miles north of the Dead Sea, in the place where the Lord was baptized, there is a single pillar, and on the pillar an iron cross has been fastened, there too is the Church of St. John the Baptist, which the Emperor Anastasius [Anastasius I, the ruler of the Eastern Roman Empire between 491 and 518] built: this church is very lofty, being built above large chambers, on account of the Jordan River, when it overflows.” (The citation source: http://www.baptismsite.com/the-place-where-jesus-was-baptized/)
This and a number of other historical testimonies mention a little spot on the territory of what is now the Kingdom of Jordan called Al-Maghtas (المغطس in Arabic, meaning “immersion”), with a stream called Wadi al-Harrar running nearby. In the 1990s, an international team of archeologists carried out excavations there. The location was suggested by the famous and unique sixth-century mosaic map from St. George’s Church in Madaba (Jordan), which shows over 150 holy sites of the Holy Land, including “Bethabara, the site where John baptized” (Βεθαβαρα το του αγιου Ιωαννου του βαπτισματος). During the excavations the ruins of a Byzantine church along with the base of a column in the form of a square marble slab measuring two square meters were discovered. Five churches occupied this spot successively in the period spanning the fifth to the early twelfth centuries. As a result, in 2015 Al-Maghtas was added by UNESCO to the World Heritage list as a site associated with the Baptism of Jesus Christ.
Until recently the stream was filled with water. Alas, by the time of our visit in August 2018 it had dried up. [Source: OrthoChristian.com]

Just popping in to say that your seminar paper sounds fascinating! If you feel like sharing more about it feel free, but completely no pressure at all. Your description of it in your tags just intrigued me~
oh my god thank you, you have NO idea how hyped i am to get a chance to talk about it!! this is going to be wayyyyy too much info and incredibly long, but i have no one to talk about except my class and we don't meet again until next thurs!
okay so i'm taking a rhetorics grad class and writing about, generally, the rhetoric of christian deconstruction and deconstructors' reclamation of power -- for anyone who doesn't know, deconstruction means people (i've only ever heard this in a christian context but i'm sure this could apply to other religions, i just genuinely am unfamiliar with those spaces) who decide to examine their faith, which is a super complicated process. this can range from "what is the biblical evidence for this topic" all the way to "do i still agree with this belief". so, i'm looking at: how do they talk about their experience of deconstruction, and what new sites of power do they adopt when leaving their faith
more specifically, though, i'm actually writing about memoirs published by two Duggar daughters (of the 19 Kids and Counting television show/franchise) this year! Jill Dillard published what is the closest thing there is to a Duggar-adjacent tell-all, and her sister Jinger Vuolo published a "theological memoir", where she explicitly refused to adopt the term "deconstruction" and instead created a new term, "disentanglement". for those who don't know, the Duggar family is a member of the Independent Fundamental Baptist denomination and the Institute in Basic Life Principles parachurch organization, both of which promote biblical patriarchy (aka, the man is the head of the house and the woman must submit to him) and purity culture (aka, your value is entirely determined by your virginity, and men are terrible horny creatures who cannot control themselves. also, women can't wear pants). both daughters' memoirs are about how they are no longer members of the IBLP, and to an extent, the IFB.
my pitch for the paper was to look at the IFB/IBLP rhetoric about power (the "umbrella of authority" in particular, but generally purity culture and biblical patriarchy) and then examine their new stated beliefs and how they negotiated the power to assert them -- like, looking at Dillard's discussion of her choice to start wearing pants and how she wanted her husband to just tell her what to do, and how when that resulted in blowback from her father, she attempted to placate him (as part of her "umbrella of authority") by calling him before she got a nose ring; and, of course, looking at how she had to deconstruct the belief in the "umbrella" to even write the book. also, looking at how Vuolo's memoir is influenced by her husband's career as a pastor and even though she's distanced herself from the headship/helpmeet dynamic, she's still replicating it by saying she shouldn't have control over her own life.
this has already gotten crazy long, so i'll put more about my research under a cut!!
i've been doing a lot of reading on super varied topics, but i'm reading a lot of TJ Geiger, Bethany Mannon, and Amorette Hinderaker -- the first two specifically look at exvangelical (ex-evangelical christian) rhetorics.
the paper i mentioned in my tags was specifically "Forgiveness Is More Than Platitudes: Evangelical Women, Sexual Violence, and Casuistic Tightening" by Geiger; it's a study of Beth Moore and the gymnast Rachel Denhollander, who both publicly condemned the church's response to abusers. it's *such* a good article, it took me forever to wrap my head around it (coming from a non-christian perspective who had no idea what the fuck casuistic meant) but it's absolutely fascinating, and argues Denhollander and Moore are, in essence, un-flattening the roles between "abuse victim" and "sexually immoral" and demanding churches make forgiveness more costly for the abuser instead of allowing them to brush abusers' crimes away by saying "god forgives them and you should, too". Mannon also wrote about Moore! she's what led me down this rabbit hole, i read a *different* article about Moore in Peithos, a feminist rhetoric journal, for a different project this semester!
Hinderaker looks at "organizational exit", a hot topic in organizational psychology, but she looks specifically at high-control religions instead of workplaces, which is where most of the research was before. i haven't confirmed this, but i suspect she may be ex-mormon? she has a really good article about the way people narrate their decision to leave high-demand religious groups, and argues the "reach" of an organization into a participant's life is actually the primary factor in exit, which goes against previous research (which focused on pay as the most important factor).
okay, i promise i'm almost done. i also read Pure by Linda Kay Klein for fun, then realized about 1/4 of the way in it fits the paper perfectly, because it's really about purity culture rhetorics. i also read The Preacher's Wife, which is about evangelical women celebrities, and helped me frame Vuolo's book in particular. the other genre i've been reading a lot is the general topic of feminist rhetorics, women's rhetorics, conservative and evangelical rhetorics, etc., which basically culminates in Charlotte Hoggs' article "Including Conservative Women’s Rhetorics in an 'Ethics of Hope and Care'", which is explicitly about incorporating the study of conservative rhetorics in the feminist rhetorics field.

i never realized this before but andrew's real name was probably not andrew? it's more likely that it was given to him by jesus because andrew and peter are brothers and those are both greek names but peter wasn't peter's actual name, his name was shimon, which is hebrew so it only makes sense that both brothers had hebrew names ? also bartholomew is not a name i dont know if you all realize bartholomew was not a name natanel is a name, bar-talmai means son of talmai, and he can still be called bar-talmai but in the same sense the marias are distinguished to be of bethany and of magdala or judas is called of kerioth. speaking of judas by the way thaddeus is just a variant of theudas which is a variant of ioudas which is greek for judas so calling thaddeus judas thaddeus is just calling him judas twice. you know what was a greek name though, philipos, and philip is generally suggested to be a grecian jew in the gospels but like. some people say that so is andrew and i dont know if they only got that from the greek name because shouldn't peter and andrew have both been grecian then ? OH OH HOWEVER andrew was a disciple of john the baptist (while peter was not) and it is speculated that so was philip so you never know maybe john the baptist was going around giving greek names to his disciples. jesus did it idk maybe it runs in the family. also peter wasn't yet called peter while jesus was alive "yeah but jesus gave him the name" jesus told him he will be called peter one day and left it at that he was still called shimon until the early church was established. also thomas may have also been named judas which is hilarious cause 1/4 of the apostles were named judas.

This is just a suggestion and feel free to ignore! Something I think would be helpful would be to include at the top of your "Fundies and Adjacent I Follow" type posts a summary of what makes them fundie or adjacent. I haven't heard of the majority of them, so I can't tell if it's a friend of the Duggars, someone with a blog that spouts hate in the name of Christianity, a vlogging family, or just a random family that just so happens to have a bunch of kids. Maybe for the lesser known follow up pregnancy or engagement announcements where most fundie followers would go "who is this...?" linking back to the main post? Thanks for all you do!

Hannah is A Duggar Wife!
Get The Data Here.  (Better Late Than Never!)
Tumblr media
On March 26, 2022, Jeremiah Robert Duggar, 23 + Hannah Marlys Wissmann, 26, tied the knot at First Baptist Church in Plattsmouth, Nebraska.  Us Weekly got the exclusive.  Jer + Hannah told the tabloid—
“Today was a perfect day, as we stood before our family and friends and committed our lives to each other.  It was such a beautiful culmination of so many prayers, dreams, and desires!  As we’ve seen God’s gracious hand in bringing our lives together, we are excited to see how He will continue to direct our paths.  We are looking forward to sharing our married journey with you.  Thank you for sharing our joy!”
Read on for a full data analysis!
Relationship Recap
Unfortunately, data for Jeremiah + Hannah’s Relationship is seriously lacking.  We have no idea when they met, started “talking,” or started courting, except that it all happened before October 27, 2021—when they publicly announced their relationship via Instagram.
As for the Engagement Date, we’ve got a bit more to work with.  On January 6, 2022, Jer + Hannah announced their engagement via Instagram.  So...  Clearly, the proposal occurred on January 6, 2022, at the latest.  From the photos, we also know it happened in Nebraska—Gretna, NE, to be exact—at Holy Family Shrine.  (Kudos again, @fundiebabynamebible, for identifying the location!)
Additional Instagram Posts by Hannah’s Family help narrow down the Proposal Date even further.  Notably, this Post by Kori (Knuth) Wissmann—1 of Hannah’s Sisters–In–Law—establishes that Kori and At Least 4 of Hannah’s Sisters (Bethany Beasley, and Susanna, Alaythia, and Charissa Wissmann) were there when Jer proposed.  Since Kori and Bethany both live out–of–state, nailing down exactly when they were in Nebraska would narrow down the Proposal Date.  Checking their Instagrams...  Looks like Kori + Andrew left Nebraska on January 3, 2022,  after visiting for about a week.  And, it also looks like Kori + Andrew visited her family immediately prior to the NE trip, spending Christmas Eve and Christmas with them.  So...  Apparently, Kori + Andrew arrived in Nebraska no earlier than December 26th.  As for Bethany (Wissmann) + Daniel Beasley, it looks like they arrived in Nebraska on December 17, since they were “packing” on 16th.  And, per another Post, they left on or around January 2nd.  Taking all this together...  Kori and Bethany were both in Nebraska from December 26, 2021–January 2, 2022.  The Proposal could’ve happened at any time in that range.  Duggar Data will use the midpoint, rounded up—or, December 30, 2021—as Jer + Hannah’s Approximate Proposal Date.
And we know their Wedding Date, obviously.  It was March 26, 2022.

Effect on Duggar / Wissmann Data
Relationship Timeline Data.  Based on available data, here’s how long Jer + Hannah spent at each relationship stage—
Pre–Courtship   Unknown
Courtship   Unknown
Engagement   ~86 Days
So...  Their only potential impact is going to be on Engagement Length, since that’s the only thing they have data for.
Prior to Jeremiah + Hannah, your typical Duggar Engagement lasted 94 Days [94.3] (~3 Months).  Factoring them in, it remains 94 Days [93.55]—so, there is No Significant Change.  As for the Wissmann Data...  Pre–Jer + Hannah, your typical Wissmann Engagement lasted 173 Days (~5.7 Months).  Factoring Jer + Hannah in, it shifts to 158 Days (–15 Days), or ~5.2 Months.
Age at C.S. / Age Gap Data.  Unfortunately, we can’t factor Jer + Hannah into the Age at C.S. Data, since we don’t know their Courtposal Date.  (Darn!)  But, we do know their DOBs, so Age Gap Data isn’t an issue...  Jeremiah was born December 30, 1998, and Hannah was born on June 23, 1995.  Doing the math,  Jer + Hannah’s Age Gap is 3.52 Years (1,286 Days), and Hannah is older.
Prior to Jeremiah + Hannah, the typical Duggar Age Gap was 1.59 Years (582 Days), with the man being older.  Factoring them in, it shifts to 1.20 Years (438 Days) (–144 Days), still favoring the man.  There are two other Duggar Couples where the woman is older than the man—Jessa + Ben, and Justin + Claire.  As for Hannah’s Family’s Data...  Pre–Jer + Hannah, a typical Wissmann Age Gap was 1.86 Years (680 Days), favoring the man.  Factoring Jeremiah + Hannah in, that shifts to 1.19 Years (434 Days) (–246 Days), with the man being older.  As w/ the Duggars, there are also two other Wissmann Couples where the man is younger—Bethany + Daniel and Matthias + Michelle.  Jer + Hannah’s Age Gap is also the 2nd Largest among Wissmanns.  (Rachel + Alan hold the record w/ their 9.50–Year Age Gap, favoring him.)
Procreative Potential / ESOQ
Hannah’s Mother, Gloria (Hager) Wissmann, last gave birth on September 25, 2006, when she was 48.30 Years Old.  As such, Hannah’s Fertility Cut–Off is Age 48.30.  She and her sisters have the latest Fertility Cut–Off among all the Predictor Women, because no Predictor Mom’s Final Birth occurred as late as Gloria’s.  (For context...  Michelle Duggar had Josie at Age 43.24, and Kelly Jo Bates had Jeb at Age 45.27.)
Hannah will be 48.30 Years Old on October 12, 2043.  With her Wedding Date of March 26, 2022, that’s a Total Marital Fertility (TMF) of 7,870 Days (~21.5 Years).  Here’s how that stacks up vs. Duggar and Wissmann Couples—
Josiah + Lauren (Swanson) Duggar   9,115 Days
Bethany (Wissmann) + Daniel Beasley   9,080 Days
Joy–Anna (Duggar) + Austin Forsyth   8,644 Days
Josh + Anna (Keller) Duggar   8,416 Days
Joe + Kendra (Caldwell) Duggar   8,326 Days
Jer + Hannah (Wissmann) Duggar   7,870 Days
Jessa (Duggar) + Ben Seewald   7,762 Days
Jinger (Duggar) + Jeremy Vuolo   7,439 Days
Jill (Duggar) + Derick Dillard   7,358 Days
Andrew + Kori (Knuth) Wissmann   6,834 Days
Josiah + Abi (Rehm) Wissmann   6,763 Days
Rachel (Wissmann) + Alan Busenitz   6,535 Days
Jed + Katey (Nakatsu) Duggar   6,326 Days
Ruth (Wissmann) + Ryan Bourlier   5,606 Days
John + Abbie (Burnett) Duggar   5,085 Days
Matthias + Michelle (Kingery) Wissmann   4,586 Days
At Age 26, Hannah was actually the Oldest Duggar Bride, so far, but still came in 5th for TMF (Among Duggars), thanks to her super–late Fertility Cut–Off.  All the Duggars who ‘beat’ her married way younger than her—at Age 19 (Lauren, Joy, and Kendra), or Age 20 (Anna).
Given their TMF, Jer + Hannah have time to amass quite a quiver...  As of their Wedding Date (March 26, 2022), their ESOQ is 13 Children (Based on Duggar Data) or 12 Children (Based On Wissmann Data).
When To Expect Duggar–Wissmann #1
Based on the Duggar Data, here’s what the Predictor expects—
Baby News   October 4, 2022
Sex Reveal   November 27, 2022
Due Date   April 5, 2023
Date of Birth   April 3, 2023
... and, here’s what it forecasts based on the Wissmann Data—
Baby News   March 22, 2023
Sex Reveal  May 2, 2023
Due Date  September 13, 2023
Date of Birth   September 14, 2023
(Note—The Wissmann Data excludes Firstborn Data from 2 Couples, Rachel + Alan, due to primary infertility, and Andrew + Kori, due to incomplete data; she miscarried her 1st Pregnancy [or Pregnancies], and no data is available.)

Why this Blog
Hi! I'm Bethany. I grew up in the Independent Fundamentalist Baptist movement in the 80s and 90s and have spent my adult life in Christian ministry within conservative evangelicalism. I'm interested in church issues particularly concerning women, abuse victims, and other marginalized communities. I'm also concerned about high control religious environments and helping others recognize when they are in a church environment that is protecting the institution over the people that it should be serving. I don't expect that I will have anything really new or interesting to add to these topics but I enjoy writing and have a bunch of thoughts that need a place to go, so here I am. Whatever I write I'm committed to trying my best to be fair and kind. I believe in respecting others humanity and never forgetting that we all make mistakes. I also don't really expect anyone will actually read this little note or this blog. But, if you are here, welcome, and I hope that it's not too rambly. I have a lot of other sticks in the fire (to utilize a good overused metaphor) so this blog is not going to reflect a lot of editing or well-polished thoughts.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the bustling world of church production, finding reliable, versatile equipment is paramount. Bethany Place Baptist Church in Chesterfield, Virginia, discovered the transformative power of PTZOptics cameras early on. With a commitment to quality and budget-conscious decisions, the church opted for PTZOptics cameras over manned alternatives, relying on these robust units for all their streaming needs.
Andrew Ryan, a dedicated volunteer on the production team at Bethany Place Baptist Church, attests to the unwavering performance of PTZOptics cameras. “We have never had an issue with them,” Ryan emphasizes. “They’re rock solid. They connect easily. Everything is controlled over IP.” The seamless integration with multiple streaming software and the user-friendly PTZ function via the web interface make these cameras a standout choice for churches relying on volunteer staff.
As part of Church Production’s Road Test User Experience, Bethany Place had the opportunity to test the new Move 4K cameras and SuperJoy Controller from PTZOptics. Ryan praises the solidity of these units, noting their resilience to vibrations, a crucial aspect in a dynamic church environment. The strategic placement of the cameras allowed for seamless transitions between different shots, enhancing the visual narrative of the services.
The plug-and-play nature of the cameras, coupled with features like NDI compatibility and 30X zoom capability, impressed Ryan and his team. “The 30X zoom is wonderful,” Ryan enthuses, highlighting its utility across various room sizes. Moreover, the potential for 4K recording and streaming opens doors for future expansion and growth, aligning perfectly with Bethany Place’s vision.
Ryan also shares insights into the SuperJoy Controller, commending its intuitive design and user-friendly features. The oversized focus and exposure knobs, along with precise PTZ control, streamline the production process, empowering volunteers to deliver professional-quality content effortlessly. The Woman We Can’t Forget - Matthew 26:6-13 KJVᴴᴰ
For those impatient, the sermon starts at 25:45 In today’s sermon, Brother Mike talks about Mary of Bethany. Many of us know her as the woman who anointed Jesus Christ with perfume oil and her own tears during His visit to their home, but she was also sister of Martha and Lazarus, and was a faithful woman of God. As both Christians and society as a whole, we all need God and to lean on Him and His Holy Word and Spirit daily. It is vital for both our souls and our lives. Mary was the sister of Lazarus and Martha let nothing stop her in her faithful walk with Jesus Christ. We must all do the same, before it’s too late. Brother Mike explains Speaker: Pastor Dr. Mike Butler Crestwood Baptist Church, Frankfort Ky
