honestly conner was such a load bearing character in the series bc after he died and no longer had a direct hand in the ongoing conflict the story fell apart

Conner has to pause. The kiss had caught him completely off guard, and in his eyes one could see him analyzing it, as if to assure himself it was some trick. But Harlowe wasn’t like him. No, this was a genuine display of… Affection? Care? Certainly not something Conner had come to know well.

The slightest grin and blush creeps onto his face. “Oh. Why thank you, Lord Harlowe… How very sweet of you.”

When I make these designs I literally like completely forget how they’re described in the book and js use my own interpretation— hence why I drew roden with like redder hair instead of dirty blond. I js like imagining things and putting them on digital paper :3

still wondering if Darius being conners son was preplanned from the start cuz I mean there is some foreshadowing MAYBE but like captive kingdom has a lot of js random shit from what I remember so it could’ve been neilsen grasping at straws. I still really like the idea, js curious.

Conner joined up with him and Vargan holds all the power. But he gets what he wants from Conner and in return he's giving him the promise of Carthya's throne. Very very classic. And in Patriot's Treason (I haven't read it in a while but) there's some fun undertones in the relationship between Conner and Vargan, a certain Charge to it. Their relationship is *clearly* coded in power imbalance and exchanges of service from Conner and monetary/status from Vargan. So. Sugar Daddy.

Vargan was Conner's sugar daddy. But none of you are ready for that conversation.
