The demand for a caste census continues to gain popularity. After Bihar published the results of its case census in October, pressure is growing on the Karnataka government to release its findings. Andhra Pradesh has started its caste census and there are increasing calls for a similar exercise in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
With direct implications for reservations in education and public sector jobs, welfare provisions and political mobilisation, caste censuses could be decisive to uncovering power relations in the country.
The 2024 general elections are due soon and a caste census may momentarily seem to have diminished in importance, given the gains made by the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance with inauguration of the Ram temple in January. But its significance will doubtless become apparent after the election when the challenges of poverty, unemployment and related issues of resource distribution rise to the fore.
So far, the focus in caste census discussions has largely been on ascertaining the populations of caste communities and tackling problems related to the multiplicity of jati names. How people identify themselves is shaped by a complex mix of tradition, personal beliefs political positioning and the influence of community organisations. Understanding identities is, therefore, a weighty task.
At the same time, equal attention must be paid to the opportunity presented by the exercise to measure land ownership by caste. Caste censuses can reveal crucial patterns in how power in India is enmeshed in land. Most importantly, the caste census has the potential to bring land reform back to political agendas.

TO EVERYONE OF LEGAL AGE IN INDIA
If you are a citizen of the country, I am begging you to vote in the National Elections, 2024.
In 2014, the turnout of youth (inclusive of first time voters) was at a staggering 70%. In 2019, this number decreased quite a bit.
Today, in 2024, that number has decreased drastically. Voter registration among youth currently ranges for somewhere between 17% in Bihar, 21% in NCR, 23% in UP, to around 35% in major cities with maximum youth population.
Only 38% of the first time eligible voters have registers for National Elections this time.
I understand. We are all tired. The ruling party has made a mockery of the elections. I 100% get it. But please, you all need to vote. Even if you’re tired, even if you see no hope of things changing even this time. You still need to vote.
I know everybody says it but it bears repeating, every single vote counts.
If you are a student, there’s a holiday during all the 5 phase dates. If you are a working adult, your company legally needs to allow you a holiday on the day. I travelled back to my hometown to vote today because it fucking matters.
Please vote, if you can. Please vote, if you care.
This election results should not be about which party will lead the country to the top five developing nations. This elections should be about which party will let the country breathe for another four years.
I’m sincerely requesting you all to vote. If not today, then tomorrow, things will change. But they won’t, unless, you vote.
Vote for yourself. Vote for the ones who cannot. Vote for the ones whose voices will never be heard. Vote for the ones who made noise, made themselves hurt and are suffering for their words. Vote for everyone who dealt with unimaginable pain in the last 8 years. Vote to give this country another chance.

Indian Elections: The Campaign and how much it worked (Part 1)
Since the results are out, let's talk about it (as if we haven't been doing it since the last few hours) properly.
First of all, Uttar Pradesh voters, you people are betrayers. I'm not saying it, BJP & its supporters are. But seriously, Samajvadi Party's campaign for this year was definitely strong. Yogi really thought that it's going to be a piece of cake didn't he. Thank you voters for showing them the ground reality. Ayodhya, Amethi, Raebareli, the trinity of my joy.
Rajasthan. Yes, BJP won here with 14 seats. But lost 10 seats. Congress really shone on its own here, gaining 8 seats when in the last election, it was on the zero mark. Sachin Pilot and that man alone worked on Rajasthan. Honestly they need to put him front and center.
Madhya Pradesh is 100% a well-deserved BJP sweep. Let's not forget that it's not the Modi factor that worked here, it was Shivraj Singh Chauhan. That man worked his ass off during Vidhaan Sabha campaign last year and it really paid off in Lok Sabha. (God, I still remember women crying when he didn't become the Chief Minister).
I guess it was tough for West Bengal voters, no? I'm not much familiar Bengal politics but from what I've heard, they had to choose between two evils. Still, Didi gets 29 out of 42 seats, leaving BJP and Congress on the 6 and 1 mark respectively.
Lmao, they fucked up in Bihar. I can rant for hours about this. The seat distribution was already messed up, but Nitish Babu leaving put the nail in the coffin. BJP and JD(U) won 12 seats each, with RJD and Congress winning 4 and 3 respectively. Left also got 2 or 3 seats. I'm glad Pappu Yadav (on Purniya seat) won nirdaliye. Well deserved.
As for Odisha, I guess people have lost all the hopes in Naveen Patnaik, because BJD remained on zero, BJP getting all of its seats (20). Congress won 1 seat here.
I don't have much to say about Delhi. It's a BJP sweep. I guess AAP didn't get to campaign much since Arvind Kejriwal was literally put in jail? I'm still salty that Kanhaiya Kumar lost.
That's all for now, rest in the next part.

JD-U will not even win 20 seats in 2025 Assembly: Prashant Kishor
Tumblr media
Prashant Kishor, the chief of the Jan Suraaj campaign on Tuesday said that the Janata Dal (United), led by Nitish Kumar, will struggle to secure even 20 seats in the upcoming 2025 Assembly elections.
“In 2015, the Grand Alliance government in Bihar was only formed because I supported Nitish Kumar. In the 2020 Assembly elections, Nitish’s party significantly declined, securing just 43 seats. The 2025 elections will result in an even more drastic outcome. The JD-U will be uprooted from Bihar politics along with the RJD,” Prashant Kishor told media persons in Jamui district.

This is the Interim budget 2024 which is presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Nirmala Sitharaman presented her 7th budget in parliament.
In the budget 2024, which came just after the election results, the government has also paid the price for the ‘support’ of the allies. Special packages were given to the Bihar government and the Andhra Pradesh government.
At the same time, new employment opportunities have been opened to address the discontent among the youth who expressed their dissatisfaction in the Lok Sabha elections.

However, by increasing the capital gains tax on stock market investors, the burden on the middle class, already suffering from inflation, has been increased further.
In the new tax system, a slight relief has been provided by increasing the standard deduction from ₹50,000 to ₹75,000. Additionally, changes have been made to the income tax slab.

FMCG stocks: Steady monsoon, social welfare thrust likely to aid growth, says Anand Rathi; lists top picks
Following the election verdict, most FMCG shares have seen a jump of up to 10%, attributed to their defensive characteristics and the optimism surrounding improved prospects. A convergence of favorable factors—such as the monsoon-driven rural resurgence, heightened focus on social welfare post election, and margin buoyancy propelled by crude prices—bode well for the sector, says domestic brokerage firm Anand Rathi in its latest note. The brokerage noted that the results of the 2024 general election, particularly the loss of seats in key states like UP and Maharashtra, could prompt the Union government to intensify its focus on social welfare.
With upcoming state elections in Maharashtra and Bihar in 2024 and the Budget likely scheduled for July, the brokerage anticipates increased allocation for social welfare schemes, which would boost rural income. Early monsoon arrival promises bumper harvest season The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts above-average monsoon rains at 106% of the long-term average this year. The monsoon arrived early in Kerala on May 30th, compared to the usual June 1st, and has already covered much of South India. A consistent monsoon is expected to result in healthy kharif crops, leading to better farm income and a modest rise in food prices for consumers, said the brokerage. Fall in crude prices to aid gross margin Crude oil prices have decreased by 10% over the past 7–10 days. Crude oil and its derivatives are essential inputs for various FMCG products and their packaging, with packaging costs constituting 5-20% of many companies’ input costs. Valuations Given these multiple tailwinds, the brokerage has maintained its 'buy' rating on three FMCG stocks: Hindustan Unilever (HUL) with a target price of ₹3,000, Emami with a target price of ₹730, and Zydus Wellness with a target price of ₹2,150.

"If He Is Kingmaker…": Tejashwi Yadav On Nitish Kumar's Role In NDA
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav on Thursday said Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar should utilise his position as "kingmaker" in the NDA to ensure special status for Bihar. On Wednesday, photos of the RJD leader sitting with his former boss on a flight to Delhi went viral on social media. Both NDA and INDIA partners flew to the national capital to hold meetings after the Lok Sabha Election results failed to give a majority to the BJP.
"NDA has numbers but we want the government which will be formed to take care of Bihar and ensure that it gets special status. It is a good opportunity for Nitish Kumar if he is the kingmaker, he should make sure that Bihar gets a special status and conduct caste-based census in the entire country," Mr Yadav told news agency ANI, adding that for the first time, PM Modi's "magic was finished" and he would be dependent on NDA allies to form a government.

Day 239
18, mohit vihar Wednesday 5 june 2024 10:36Pm
Namaskar
I am back on Tumblr.
After 2 years ,I am joining again. Gosh!
Election results came out yesterday. Results are in favor of BJP. This time narendra modi will lead the government for the 3rd consecutive term.
This time the battle was between the NDA alliance and INDIA bloc.
India that is bharat is union of state as mentioned in the article 1 of the Indian constitution. The constitution provides for the parliamentary form of government which is federal in nature with certain features of unitary.
Parliamentary form of government means people's government. Where the people as citizen will choose their representative for safeguarding the unity, integrity, equality, faternity ,justice and liberty, rights of them.
India is a land of diversity where people from different races, culture, language, caste, lives under the same umbrella. Their heterogeneous nature and culture has been binded with a common thread by constitution.
The drafting committee that made our constitution has taken the diverse nature of people into consideration for the unification of india as one.
Regionalism is always been a hot topics in politics. States has been divided into many on the basis of regionalism. Telgana from andrapradesh, Uttarakhand from uttar pradesh, bihar from Chattisgarh are the best example.
For eg. In Uttarakhand, Natives says - Uttarakhand is for pahari people. It includes garhwali, kumaoni jaunsari. Rest of the caste are outside. Anyways politics at its best.
As the elections were held india. The momentum was turn out in favor of BJP. The BJP political move was more focused on religion, free ration, article 370 etc. Whereas congress focused on criticising the BJP moves.
I am certain to say that - We are still in very backward position in the world. As government says that India is shining but in reality it is not shinned. It will take more 20 years to get a shine in it's overall structure. We have not achieved the MDG 2015. There is one more global target SDG 2030. Will india be able to achieve by 2030. It seems impossible. India is a very huge state. State means country.
To be continued tomorrow....
India that is bharat is a union of states. It is not a confederation and federation of state but it is union of states.
Tushar gupta
