#INDIA Alliance : Score Massive Victory Wins 10/13 Seats In Assembly By-polls In 7 States, TMC 4/4 In West Bengal ; BJP Decimated Bags 2 Only

In a massive boost to the INDIA bloc, its constituents won 10 of the 13 assembly seats where by-elections were held in seven states, while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to bag two and an Independent pocketed one seat as votes were counted.

According to PTI , The Congress won four seats — two in BJP-ruled Uttarakhand and two in Himachal Pradesh.

The Trinamool Congress bagged all the four seats in West Bengal while the Aam Aadmi Party won the Jalandhar West seat in Punjab and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam emerged victorious in the Vikravandi constituency in Tamil Nadu.

The BJP won the Hamirpur seat in Himachal Pradesh while Independent candidate Shankar Singh clinched the Rupauli seat in Bihar.

The Congress hailed the results, saying they “reflect the changing political climate in the country” and it has now become clear that the web of “fear and illusion woven by the BJP has been broken”.

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee thanked the people .  “Three out of four seats were of BJP which have now been won by TMC… This victory is the victory of the people and I thank the people, we will dedicate this victory on July 21st…��

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin referred to the INDIA bloc’s good show and said BJP should learn lessons from its defeats.

“BJP must realise that without respecting regional sentiments it cannot run the government and the party,” he said. He described his party’s victory as people’s “thanksgiving” to DMK regime’s welfare schemes.

In Badrinath, Congress’s Lakhapat Butola, a first-time contestant, scored an upset victory over former minister and MLA Rajendra Bhandari of the BJP whose resignation as a legislator just before the Lok Sabha polls had necessitated the bypoll. Butola’s victory margin was 5,224 votes.

Congress candidate Kamlesh Thakur, wife of Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, defeated BJP’s Hoshiyar Singh to win the Dehra seat by a margin of 9,399 votes. Hardeep Singh Bawa also defeated his nearest rival and BJP candidate K L Thakur in Nalagarh by 8,990 votes. Bawa is a five-time Indian National Trade Union Congress president.

The bypoll results ensured that for the first time in the electoral history of the state, a husband and wife — Sukhvinder Sukhu and Kamlesh Thakur — would be members of the Himachal Pradesh assembly. In another first, there will not be a single Independent MLA in the assembly.

Lok Sabha polls: Congress fields YS Sharmila from Andhra Pradesh’s Kadapa

The Congress on Tuesday released a new list of 17 candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar and West Bengal for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The party has fielded YS Sharmila, the sister of YSR Congress Party founder and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, from the state’s Kadapa constituency. #LokSabhaElections2024 : End Of Sixth Phase ; EC Releases Vote Percentage 61.11 % At 11: 45 PM ; Final Seventh Phase On June 1

An estimated voter turnout of 61.11 per cent was recorded in the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha election in 58 constituencies across six states and two Union territories, with the polling percentage in the Jangal Mahal region of West Bengal touching 79.4.

As per PTI report, Incidents of violence, including an alleged assault on a BJP candidate, minor clashes and protests were reported from West Bengal while there were instances of EVM malfunctioning at some places, including Delhi.

Jharkhand recorded a turnout of 63.76 per cent, Uttar Pradesh 54.03 per cent, Bihar 55.24 per cent, Jammu and Kashmir 54.15 per cent, Haryana 60.06 per cent, Odisha 69.32 and Delhi 57.67 per cent, according to the figures updated at 11:45 pm by the EC on its voter turnout app.

The turnout in the fifth phase was marginally higher at 62.20 percent.

In the 2019 general elections, the turnout in the corresponding phase (59 seats across seven states went to polls) was 64.4 percent.

According to the EC, the voter turnout in the fifth phase held on May 20 was recorded at 62.2 percent.

The turnout in the fourth phase stood at 69.16 percent, 3.65 percentage points higher than the corresponding phase in the 2019 parliamentary election.

The seventh and last phase is due on June  1 and the much awaited results on June 4.

#LokSabhaElections2024 : Victory Certain, Now Formality On June 4 ; Prime Minister Narendra Modi Says All Phases Till Now In Favour Of NDA , No Chance For INDIA Alliance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged that the INDIA bloc stood for corruption, appeasement politics and a “perverted anti-Sanatan mindset”, all of which would receive a “big blow” when the Lok Sabha poll results are announced on June 4.

Addressing an election rally in the East Champaran Lok Sabha constituency of Bihar, the PM also launched indirect attacks on leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, who he said were “born with silver spoons”.

“The nation cannot move forward with the sins of the INDIA bloc, which stands for corruption, appeasement politics, represents the ‘tukde-tukde’ gang and a perverted mindset that heaps scorn on Sanatan Dharma,” he said.

“This is the reason why the INDIA bloc was exhausted in the very first phase of the elections. In the subsequent phases, it was battered. In the remaining two phases, the trend will continue and on June 4 when votes are counted, the results will come as a big blow to the intentions of the opposition alliance,” he claimed.

“…They(INDIA alliance) cannot tolerate that the people of the country are going to re-elect Modi for the next 5 years…” said Modi quoted by ANI

He further stated, “For your bright future, a strong government needs to be formed at the centre. As June 4 is nearing the abuses of INDI alliance for Modi is increasing…”

Modi alleged that Congress wants to change the Constitution to “snatch” reservations from SCs, STs and OBCs, and hand it over to those who indulge in “vote jihad”.

“If Ambedkar was not there, Nehru would not have allowed reservation for SCs and STs,” he claimed.

Modi also bristled at the opposition parties’ criticism of welfare schemes run by his government, claiming his opponents had “bundles of notes stashed away in Swiss banks” and could not understand the plight of the common people “the way I do, having been born in a poor family”.

“They were opening accounts in Swiss banks, while the people of India were starving,” he alleged.

Referring to Tejashwi Yadav, whom he did not mention by name, Modi said, “I am told that the ‘waaris of jungle raaj’ has been saying I will be advised bed rest after the Lok Sabha elections. The ‘shehzada’ of Congress says he wants to see me in tears. His party openly chants slogans like ‘Modi teri kabr khudegi’ (your grave will be dug).”

“These people have a counterpart in Uttar Pradesh (an allusion to Akhilesh Yadav) who says I have reached the end of my life and hence contesting from Varanasi,” said Modi, adding that the remarks betrayed a lack of sensitivity on the part of those “born with silver spoons, who have never known what is a life filled with struggles”.

In his speech, Modi also made a reference to the much-talked-about feast Gandhi had enjoyed at Lalu Prasad’s residence last year.

“Those who refused the invitation to the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya had no problems in sharing a meal with the corrupt,” he said.

Modi also referred to East Champaran as Mahatma Gandhi’s “karma bhoomi” and his own roots in Gujarat “the janmabhoomi (place of birth)”.

“The Congress betrayed his ideals upon coming to power and devoted itself to promoting the interests of one family,” he alleged.

“I have spent my first 10 years in power filling the potholes left by the Congress. I intend to speed up progress in the next term,” said Modi as he spoke about his thrust on welfare measures like toilets for women “who had to suffer physical ailments because of the absence of this very basic of all amenities”.
