Your boyfriend Armin was never really one for showing out when it came to gift giving, mostly because of his wallet.

As a college kid in debt, it never really allowed him to splurge on just about everything that he had ever wanted without the post-spending clarity hitting him like a semi truck.

He also had an apathetic attitude toward the cost of gifts. He believed that a gift would be priceless as long as it was given from the heart. 

But after hearing all of your friends brag about their boyfriends buying them pricey jewelry like golden bracelets and rhinestone lockets, he noticed how your entire demeanor had changed. 

He decided he needed to shift into high gear and put a little extra cash in his pockets for boyfriend bragging rights.

It took him only two months to finally settle down with a nice amount of cash to finally bite the bullet and wince at the deposit notification from his bank account.

After heavy research on zodiac signs, Armin purchased a small pear-shaped gemstone pendant that had your birthstone, even though everything had seemed to just fall into place when it came to your relationship.

After deciding that you had just wanted to lay low for your birthday, Armin suggested that he could take you to dinner for the weekend at a restaurant that was just perfect in his price range for the rest of the money that he had to spend, including a tip.

The box had been burning a hole in his suit pocket the entire dinner, waiting for the perfect moment in between your conversations to give it to you.

In his growing nervous fit, Armin had finally talked himself into it just as the night was about to come to an end.

In the comfort of his apartment bedroom, you two sat on his bed, the TV hooked up to his Wii, where you had been completely kicking his ass in Mario Kart. 

As you had already removed your makeup and dressed in something more comfortable to sleep in, you still looked completely gorgeous since the first day he had met you. 

Armin quickly shut his bedroom door, wanting a little more privacy from his other roommates as he staggered around the room, and it was only then that you noticed something was wrong. 

The sight of his trembling hands in front of your face, just a little too close to showcase the necklace to you, was the most heart-warming memory that you had known you were bound to cherish. 

The exchange was adorable, teasing him as you stood with your back turned, his fingers brushing against your skin as he clasped the metal in place. 

You knew how hard he had to work just to get it, and your smile never dropped as you turned around and peppered his face with kisses.

The display of affection was naively innocent at first, kissing along his jaw before Armin could backstep against the bed. The guide of your hands pushed him to sit against the mattress with a look that made him exhale.

Your kisses continued the moment you leaned down. Your knee slid between his legs as your lips continued down to his neck.

Armin’s head craned to the side without much protest, his eyes fluttering closed as the sensation of your mouth finding the spot that made him shiver with arousal engulfed him.

The huff of his breath enticed you to straddle Armin's lap. You'd already felt the bulge of his erection against your thigh, begging for any kind of attention, and his hips were desperate for contact.

I've finally realized, after MANY years, that I just won't wear jewelry unless the item has some kind of sentimental value to me. It's not that I don't like jewelry--I love jeweley--but all the little trinkets I've bought over the years went unworn because, if they didn't mean something to me, I wouldn't think about them. I would just forget to put them on.

How I can "love jewelry" and simultaneously forget its existence is a mystery to me, but there it is.

So I have one ring I always wear; it was a gift from my aunt when I was 14. It was real gold and still had the $99.00 price tag on it. It was a weird gift. We didn't have the type of family that gave gold to children, and my aunt had never left the price tag on a gift before. I still wonder what the hell was up with that, but I never asked. I loved it, and it remains the only ring I care about. That I think about.

Now enter the necklace. I had no sentimental necklace. I tried over the years, plenty of times. Lockets with pictures, antique finds, birthstones; nothing stuck. They were all just THINGS I had bought. But then, the unthinkable.

I broke a thimble.

Or, better put, I wore out a thimble. I sew for a living, and for the past 8 years have used the same vintage EZ brass thimble I bought off ebay (modern thimbles are junk). One night, the metal finally worn down from the pressure of incalculable stitches, a needle went through. I can only imagine how much use this little piece of brass already had on its resume before landing in my hands.

But, alas, a dead thimble.

I tried to fix it at first. I thought to glue some tiny round piece of wood or hard plastic inside behind the hole and just keep stitching, but it was doomed to fail. I almost tossed it out; what good is a thimble with a hole in the top? I can't just keep it because it's been with me for 8 years, because it's kept my middle finger from bleeding as I hem yet another historical reproduction meant to pre date the sewing machine.

Or could I?

I finally have it, and I remember it almost every day. The new/old necklace I wear.

Valentine's Day with CE characters

Steve Rogers:

Valentine's Day is also James' birthday.

It's James' first birthday, so you, Steve, and James celebrate.

James gets to have his first birthday cake.

Steve gives you flowers, chocolates, and a gold bracelet with James' birthstone in it.

You get a cute card from James, with his tiny thumb prints forming a heart.

Steve also has his thumbprints forming a heart.

Steve cooks a nice, dinner for the both of you.

James has a chicken nuggets with some mashed potatoes.

You and Steve have meatloaf with mashed potatoes, peas, carrots and pearl onions, and gravy with fresh baked rolls.

Steve and James gave you so many reasons to celebrate Valentine's day.

Steve ends the night by drawing you a nice, relaxing hot bath, and he joins you.

This was the best Valentine's day ever, because you got to celebrate it with your two favorite boys.

Like James, the twins will also be one.

Ransom made sure to get two cakes, both saying Happy Birthday on it.

Harlan will be coming later to celebrate the first birthday of his great grandchildren.

Your brother will be coming later.

Harlan is dressed in a handsome suit with a nice, gray tie.

"Sorry, sweetheart. Harlan's suit just doesn't work without his tie. He's being really fussy about it," says Ransom.

Katherine is dressed in a red dress with white tights and black Mary Janes, with a pink cardigan.

"Sorry, sweetheart, Katherine's dress doesn't work without the cardigan. She keeps crawling away from me," says Ransom.

Eventually, Katherine crawls towards Ransom, when she sees Harlan with Ransom.

Ransom hired a professional photographer to not only get a family photo, but to also get photos of the twins now that they both turned one.

The photographer arrives, and sets up. This is just easier because of your MS, and it saves a trip, and Ransom doesn't have to load in the stroller, which was custom made so that you could take the twins on a walk, and you could also get some exercise.

The photos are taken, and a few days later, you send some of the photos to your dad back in Michigan, a photo to your brother and his family, and one to Harlan.

The twins dive right into their cakes after they have some pasta.

Ransom gives you a journal of all the things he loves about you.

You give Ransom a nice, shawl collar cardigan that he loves.

"Now I get to wear dad sweaters", says Ransom.

"I love you, my favorite sexy Daddy," you say.

Ransom lips crash onto yours.

The twins got a lot of toys, and books.

Ransom reads them a bedtime story while you soak in a nice, hot bath to help soothe your aching body. The twins fall asleep.

Ransom helps you out of the tub, helps you get into your pajamas, and you both fall asleep.

Andy took the day off to volunteer in Joy's class to that you two can help with the Valentine's party and card exchange.

You're five months pregnant with Penelope.

Joy is wearing a red sweater dress with white tights, and red boots.

Andy got you flowers and some diabetic friendly chocolates.

The other parents make sure that you're eating and also taking care of yourself, seeing as how you were recently diagnosed with type I diabetes.

Andy will be taking you and Joy out to dinner later, and it will be Joy's first time at a restaurant that doesn't have a placemat that involves crayons, a paper placemat, and a kids menu.

Where Andy is taking you is an upscale restaurant that is family and kid friendly, otherwise, he would have your brother babysit Joy.

When you both take Joy home, Andy helps you get dressed for dinner, and he wears a suit. Joy is still in her outfit from before.

You two have a nice dinner. Joy has Swiss steak with mashed potatoes, and you and Andy have Swiss steak with baked potatoes and seasonal roasted veggies.

Joy tries some of the veggies.

The dessert menu has several diabetic friendly options.

Joy has a chocolate cupcake.

Andy has tiramisu and you have chocolate fudge pudding cake.

You, Joy and Andy arrive home.

You help Joy get into her nightgown.

Andy and you get into your pajamas.

Andy and you end the night in a lovemaking session, then go to sleep.

You and Andy shower together the next morning.

You're in bed, sick with a cold the entire day.

Colin takes care of you the entire day.

Jake should stay out of the kitchen.

The food arrives, and Jake dishes it out.

He lights some candles, and turns off the lights.

You two have a candle lit dinner, so there's that.

He's all flustered, but he manages to propose.

The rest of the night goes by in a blur.

At the end of the journal and the scrapbook is an ultrasound photo.

Johnny kisses you lovingly.

"I can't wait for this next stage, and I can't wait to be a dad. You'll make the most amazing mom ever."

Next year, Johnny dresses Jake as Cupid, and helps Jake fire arrows at your heart.
