Ch 194: Dog Breeds

One of the interesting things in the new chapter occurs when Doll gives Finny and Snake a tour of the orphanage, and shows them how the children are divided into four classes.

These presumably align with blood type, and each one has a set “uniform” they wear, and each is named after a dog breed. Three are breeds that originated in the UK (Corgi, English Mastiff, Collie), but one is from Germany, the “most special” group, the Pomeranian Class.

It’s possible that this is very intentional and meant to have a double meaning— not only the dog, who is a small breed that is a toy and companion but also a working dog— but also, that it’s a region in Germany.

The Pomeranian is a sized-down German Spitz, and apparently Queen Victoria owned a small one and it helped to popularize the toy size, the breed shrinking by half during her reign… so definitely an apt name for Ciel clones. (She in a sense created the breed as we know it. Could this be a jab at how the Queen controls her watchdogs?)

Each class has a different focus, it seems. Whether it’s physical tasks, homemaking skills, or knowledge…

Undertaker seems to be creating some kind of army, and perhaps not just as blood banks….

Interestingly, Doll does not seem to be included in any of the classes as they’re wearing the same clothes they did when they were with the circus troupe. Doll also seemed to have sway over the matrons, so perhaps Undertaker has Doll running the show with the matrons there as figure heads ?

It also supports my theory that Finny and Snake do not have “normal” human blood, since they were going to be turned away, implying they don’t fit into one of the four classes/blood types…. Could it be possible UT has some connection to where Snake and Finny came from?

This is definitely the most unsettling of the three locales we’ve seen so far…

SPOILERS FOR BLACK BUTLER CHAPTERS 206-207

I'm a little late to the party but the new black butler chapters have me in tears. Remember that list of black butler characters I theorized would die in future chapters? Well Snake wasn't on it but I did sort of theorize he would die as well, though I was less certain with him compared to the other characters on my list such as John Brown and Lizzy, so that's why I didn't put him on the list.

I also theorized about him finding out about what really happened with the circus, I mean I think we all knew he'd find out sooner or later. And especially when Doll showed up again around 10 or so chapters ago I was just like "yeah that's deffo gonna happen in the next few chapters" but I didn't think Snake would die exactly at that moment. Now that I think of it, it would make sense for him to die just a bit after he found out

Now that he is dead (well as far as we know), I now theorize he will become a bizarre doll, like most of the fandom now theorizes, it just makes sense. Especially since he was left with Doll she will probably take him to Undertaker and he will become another bizarre doll

I went back to reading the Black Butler manga (my anxiety for the next season was responsible for this theory)

Do you think UT would truly allow any harm to come to Our!Ciel? And do you think he cares for him at all? He appears to be actively working against him in the story currently alongside Real!Ciel, and Our!Ciel is working to shut down his bizarre doll operations. But, at the end of the day he is still a member of the Phantomhive family, and Vincent’s son, no less. The contrast between his dedication to the Phantomhive family and his constant conflict with Our!Ciel makes me question what his real end goal here is. What do you think it is?

Undertaker's feelings and plans

1. He might allow it. Depending on how you define "harm"... he might even plan on doing some, though I don't think he would see it as harm.

2. Yes, I do think he cares about our earl. It's just that his methods for trying to save the remaining Phantomhives are highly questionable. Undertaker seems to be losing touch with reality, in some ways, probably due to some interruption or halt in his grieving process... which is rather ironic, given his choice of profession as an undertaker.

3. There are many ways this could go, but the way he sees the twins as essentially the same -- it doesn't matter too much to him which is which -- he might think it's perfectly reasonable to combine them and make them "one", as if he's putting two halves together to make a whole. Our earl has a soul, but his body is sort of weak from recurring bouts of asthma. Real Ciel would have a strong body (once Undertaker perfects his reanimating techniques), but he no longer has a soul. Combining our earl's soul with real Ciel's body might strike him as some sort of perfection. The Ultimate Bizarre Doll -- or Ultimate Doll -- if you will. This would, in his mind, have the added bonus of removing our earl's soul from a body that's marked with a demon contract. He might think that doing this would make the contract null and void. I don't think it would work as well as he would hope....
