The Tier 3 Priest was so well-crafted and the Benediction had LEDs on it.

The genji sword and costume lights were really impressive with the alternating LED colors.

My first Blizzcon was super fun, and I absolutely loved sneaking around as Jester and Beau with my great friend Em. I handed out pamphlets, that some people just randomly FOUND. How cool is that?

Let’s talk about Ashe

Ashe is hero 29 in Overwatch. I did not see her coming at all. I think Blizzard did really well with keeping her on the low unlike previous heroes that we basically all saw coming a mile away. 

Here’s her short bio from the PlayOverwatch Heroes page:

Now the art in the exploration stage of making Ashe has caused a bit of controversy. There are Twitter and Tumblr users going around saying that Blizzard is afraid of making brown heroes. This controversy seems to be sparked by a lot of misunderstanding and the thirst for diversity in Overwatch (which I support because Overwatch’s diversity is one of the many reasons I love this game). The reason Blizzard didn’t go with the concept to the left is because the color scheme made her look too much like a female McCree and it really does look like a lot of the genderbent McCree fan art out there so that’s a completely fair statement for them to make. The red haired version was too punk rock. The white and red version was too superhero looking, but they really liked it and have bookmarked it for future use, the fourth one was too youthful, and the fifth one was too steampunk. 

Personally I absolutely loved the concept on the far left. I think she would’ve been beautiful and strong like Camila Vargas and Teresa Mendoza in Queen of the South. However, I do not support everyone shitting on Blizzard and people that love the possibly albino version of Ashe that we got. It is terrible seeing so many people who love Ashe being shutdown and harassed on social media for loving her even though she’s white. Artists, writers, and other creators should not be having to shut off their asks, messages, and comments because people are sending horrible messages to them over Ashe. It is terrible to see the OW community tearing each other to shreds over something like the color of a character’s skin. 

I really don’t think Blizzard could have satisfied these people who are outraged over her being white, because I know they would’ve been outraged that yet again another poc hero is a villain instead of being a good hero. I’ve seen these complaints with Sombra, Symmetra, Doomfist, Reaper, etc. I think Blizzard made the right decision here. Jeff Kaplan has stated that there are six other heroes in the making and I really do hope to see those women of color that were in the Recall trailer added to the game. I just think everyone needs to take a deep breath and let people enjoy Ashe instead of tearing them down for liking her.

On a less serious note I really do think the concept on the left should totally be Ashe’s girlfriend after that game play video. When she punched McCree I knew she was a lesbian. I’m really excited to test her out when she comes to PTR and I love that her ult is Bob. I think she’s really going to shake things up in the game, and I fear that OWL players will think she’s overpowered but most people think new heroes are overpowered anyway.
